Button push indicator? - General Questions and Answers

Hi there.
I've got a hardware issue with my Nexus 5... the famed powerbutton stick issue.
Well, I'm better at hardware than software so I have a question. Is there a way to program or use an app to have an indicator for whenever the power button is activated? Such as having the LED light on the N5 light up whenever the power button is pressed? Or maybe have an indicator on the screen of the phone? The LED would be preferable, as it is clearly visible even when the screen is off.
This will help me see if the power button sticks and try to save it before it reboots. I've already minimized it's use by using a proximity sensor app to wake.
Any other help would be great!
Thanks

[Q] turning on the display on Inspire 4g

One of the down sides of having such a large screen is the amount of travel your finger has to do to get to the power switch to turn the display on.
is there a hack or an app that can allow me to customize the capacitative buttons (home, menu, back, search) to turn on the phone? (not from a power off state, but from a suspend state)?
Other potential solutions could be remapping either of the volume keys, or maybe using the accelerometer to determine the orientation of the phone and then wake up the screen.
Yes, I am looking for the same thing. The power button on Inspire is not that well designed. I can't really tell if i am pressing it or now. I am afraid the button will broke since it doesn't have the press down feeling. I think everyone has the same problem on this button.
I think only midgets and girls have this problem. Are you a midget or a girl?
lol jk
try widgetlocker
you can wake up phone with volumes button !

[Q] lock screen screen without power button

am looking for an app to go directly to the swipe lock screen without power off so I can switch users without cycling the power button on my tablet. The power button is offset toward the back and annoying to use as well.
Also, do not want to use a proximity sensor app because it drains battery and uses hardware unnecessarily.
If this is something that is already built into android and I haven't found a shortcut, I apologize in advance.

Switching screen on with other method

Hey guys just wondering if anybody knows any mod or app in which I can turn my phones screen on with a button other than the power button? It's just my power buttons on the blink and will just about turn the screen off but will hardly ever turn it back on

In CM11, you can set the screen to wake with the volume buttons (not sure what ROM you're running though). My power button broke and I used that to get me by.
Settings > Buttons > Volume Buttons > check "Wake up"
Someone else suggested Sweep2Wake but I never looked it up (sounded cool though). There's KnockKnock too, if you're on a Sense ROM and want to flash another Kernel:

Faint red (led) light next to camera when pressing the power button?

Has anyone noticed this, especially in the dark, whenever you'd press the power button to activate the screen again a dim red light can be seen right side of the camera. No idea what the purpose is as it's so dim...

It's the proximity sensor. Detects whenever an object is nearby and performs it's action. It's the sensor that's needed to turn the screen off when you have it up to your ear while on a call to prevent any accidental touches from your cheek. The reason it turns on when pressing the power button is due to the adaptive brightness setting if enabled. It automatically dims/lights the screen depending on the environment and ambient lighting around you. The proximity sensor is what controls that.

Galaxy s6 Capacitive buttons light

I don't know if I post this in the right section. I just wanted to let others know that I've found a way to disable the light from capacitive buttons even if the phone is not in Power Saving Mode, and ofc without any third party software.
You dial *#0*# and you go to the bottom and press "Black". Now, if you hold the power button you can chose to restart the phone and the backlight will stay off.
If you press volume up key after you pressed "Black" it will just exit.
At first I was thinking I broke my phone. Then I realise how it works. Let me know if it helps.
No need for all this. This app can do what you want and more.
