Restarting Problem When in Pocket - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For about a week now my S6 that I got in July has been experiencing some issues. Specifically, when I walk to class with my phone in my pocket and music playing the phone will constantly restart. It will boot up from the Samsung logo and then be at my main screen in a few seconds.
I've noticed this only happens when my battery is around 60% or less. Additionally, the phone gets fairly warm when this happens.
Just now I kept the music playing and simply took it out of my pocket and the phone stopped constantly restarting. Should I be alarmed by this or is there an easy fix?
If it helps the music app I am using is Poweramp. Also, I don't believe I've updated recently or had any damage happened to my phone. Thanks!

Maybe your cpu is under load

i have same problem with my galaxy s6 edge plus. got few days ago brand new.
restart in my pocket when not in use. mine also boot up from the Samsung logo and then be at my main screen in a few seconds. battery is about 60%
what you mean by CPU under load? please explain more.
I close app before putting in my pocket, i don't hardly play games. i mostly use whats app and web browser and making calls.
please can some body help me.

[Q] New OTA making my phone (and me) HOT!

this new t-mo update has messed up my phone. my phone now wakes up out of sleep mode, runs on 100% screen brightness (i keep it on 75%) and it runs hot. I have no clue when its cutting on so my phone has been super hot a few times. Anyone else have this problem? i am not pleased. Any fixes out there? thanks in advance.
Me too! It started yesterday, it gets damn hot. Not when it you first get your sensation, but properly hot! I couldn't honestly hold it, and also the battery just drops insanely in a few minutes. Also I am not sure if it is only me, but the speaker don't work sometimes. A completely new problem :/
I got my phone last Saturday from Orange. The first thing I did when I got home was completely de-brand the device and install the latest OTA from HTC. I have to admit myself, that it caused the phone's Sense to become insanely unstable (going to the green HTC logo after about 15 minutes of usage every time you exit an app) and it got quite hot too. Hot to the point that I didn't even have to be using my phone for it to be hot. I was actually able to put my hand in my pocket during cold weather and keep my hand warm because of the heat of my phone! Since installing Android Revoloution it has solved my problem & all problems with the slowness of the phone.

[Q] Screen goes partially blank

Hey, so I have this weird problem with my G Flex 2.
I got it around 40 days ago from U.S. Cellular.
I have run into this problem about three times now, and from what I can remember it always happens when I have music playing. I tap the screen on to the lock screen then let it go to sleep or turn it off myself. When I wake it back up the screen is all black except for a few millimeters on the top, where I can see some display.(*note, this doesn't happen every time)
I am able to scroll through the display but no pop up menus. Since the battery is sealed off in the back of the phone I can't use that fix, holding the power button only brings up the menu option to turn off the screen which doesn't do me much good since I can't use the screen.
If I wait for 5 minutes or so the phone will right itself, but I don't want this to be a persisting problem. I'm not sure if this problem is tied to the music playing, it hasn't happened when it isn't playing, but I play music on my phone quite often. (note* I am playing the music from my phone, not streaming)
If you need more info I'll do my best to provide it. This is all I can think of right now.
Honestly, I don't expect anyone to have a fix yet since the phone is fairly recent and not as popular. I tried looking under G3 forums since the UI is pretty much identical, but I didn't find anything.
Sorry, my post is a little wordy.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide. Thanks
Yes, this has happened to me twice recently too. Once the screen was completely black except for a bright white line at the very bottom, but the phone was still responsive behind the dead screen. The other time there was a distorted/ghosty notification bar showing at the top but nothing else (like what you reported). Then the problem would resolve completely and spontaneously after resuming from sleep a few times. I have the Korean model (F510S) which was a gift so I'm stuck with it - no returns or warranty available.
bonebeatz1234 also posted about a similar problem. Seems like a hardware fault?
The replacement phone screen was fine i had a different issue of over heating and had to return it . I opted to get another device the note 4. Didn't wanna go that route bit had no choice i loved the design and ui of the flex 2. I wished lg would of just ditched the 810

Hi, I encountered same problem here.
Is anyone able to send me a screen shot or a video of this problem.
As I need to use this to prove the situation and claim warranty from the seller, however I didn't take a photo or something when the problem happened to me.
please sent to [email protected] if you have the photo or video and many thanks~
Just had this problem also had a g flex 2 for about 21 days now and it happened to me after a restart in the car with a pinkish line at the top and the phone was completely responsive even though the screen was blank
I think it might have to do with heat cause I held it by the ac vent while I was reading this board on my nexus and when I looked back at the phone it was working perfectly
But I swear during my time with the phone it heated up way more than this time and this time the phone wasn't even hot
I reset the phone like 3 times before I held it to the vent and it didn't help at all
Using the att variant with android 5.1.1
Have the same problem every now and then, found a recommendation on another website and in the instruction manual to reset the phone by holding down the power button and volume down button for about 10 seconds or to turn it off by holding down the same buttons for 20 seconds. I find what works better though is to just leave the phone alone and it corrects itself within about 5 minutes.
Having this same problem. Happens once every couple of weeks. Any updates on this?
I think that this is a heat problem....everytime i left my phone in the sun, it show me this strange error.
I'm not convinced its a heat issue. I looked at my battery chart the last time it happened and it was barely over 90 deg. It seems it happens to me when it is charging PLUS doing something like streaming music or GPS is on. I need to start taking notes. I should have done that before.
this have happened to twice too. weird anomaly.

Having the same random issue. Today it happened and reboot would not fix (it usually does) finally after about 30 minutes the screen came back to normal. I now disabled lock screen in case I need to get data off the phone from pc ? in the case that the issue becomes permanent.

although it's an old post, but worth to mention, that It can happen to all the LG Flex 2 models.
It is caused by a heat or inaccurate voltage. let me explain how it can happen:
heat - when you put the phone on the car's cradle under the car's front windows during a sunny day - it will happen.
voltage/heat - when you charge your phone and not using your original charger (eg chinese car chargers) - it will happen.
so what to do? I've noticed that putting the device over the cat's air conditioning , can reduce this to few minutes. also, if you can, mount your cradle over one of the air condition outlets and it will freeze your phone all the time

How hot is your droid mini get

Nitride mini seems to get up to about a hundred twenty degrees in my pocket without a case I've had it replaced 3 or 4 times under warranty . they all seem to do that. is it defective by design. does anyone else have this issue other than this and the battery life I love my droid mini
It's only warm in my pocket on a very hot day like 90 degrees F... Oh, while it's playing music along with unclosed apps.
My DroidMAXX doesn't even heats up, but says "Temperature control.. Rebooting" and restarts ALWAYS....

Mine still does that all the time, sometimes it doesn't want to start up again unless it's plugged in. Has anyone found the cause or a solution? Is it the Motorola sensor app? Any way to revert the sensors back to the original ones in 4.2.2, it didn't do this to me until after i updated past 4.2.2.

[Q] Overheating and LED Camera Flash = Off

Anyone have their GS6 Overheat and the Camera LED diable?
Had this happen the other day. It was in my pocket and didn't really feel that hot hot either just the buttons felt hot.
I've only had my S6 for 2 days now. Today it was just sitting next to me, screen off, hadn't touched it in a while. I picked it up and it was BURNING hot. I turned it on, and it said it was overheating and in "Cool Down" mode. There weren't any apps I left running (ie. iHeartRadio, Video player, etc). It was literally just sitting there not being used, but for some reason became EXTREMELY hot for no reason. If anyone else is having this issue I'd love to heart about it before I pass my 14 day return period or this thing blows up in my face.
My phone gets extremely hot if I have the screen brightness over about 30%.... even in my pocket sometimes. I've found keeping wifi off helps a lot and disabling all the spam helped too. What really heats my phone up is any kind of camera activity. Any more than 5-10 pictures or 2+ minutes of video makes my phone so hot I wont put it in my pocket. If I could choose again I would of kept my LG G2 for a few extra months and kept away from the pocket oven.
My wife and I got the S6 on release date and haven't had any overheating issues like you said.
Ours do get warm while in use but not on idle.
I would take it back to Verizon and see about getting a replacement. The one you have may be faulty.

Phone is extremely slow after replacing the screen

Hi all, I dropped my OPO a few months ago and completely shattered the screen+digitizer. I unplugged the battery and it has since been sitting. Today I received a new screen in the mail and replaced the broken one and put it all back together, but it's now running so laggy that I can't hardly do anything. It is running LineageOS on Android 8. I thought that the screen I bought may have just been a counterfeit with a terrible refresh rate (like 5-10 FPS) but I remoted into it with both Vysor and TeamViewer and they are lagging too, so it seems to be a software issue. I was then planning on potentially trying to flash a new ROM and just starting fresh, but I couldn't get it to boot into recovery, it just shows a black screen and TWRP never loads. After about an hour of fiddling with it I was able to get it back into Lineage, but the issues persist. Any ideas on what may be causing this?
