So this is my situation...
When I was originally using fresh evo 3.2.0.0 I was using the HTC Music app. I have this earphones where every time I click the button on the headphones it'd Pause the music or pick up the call.
However, when I switched over to DamageControl's ROM w/ using Sense, I tried the android music player. I decided I didn't like it and I went back to Sense to use the HTC music app again. However, every so often it'd just randomly turn on the Android Music app, and it'd always turn on the android music app if i clicked the "pause/pick up call" button on my earphones. Anyway, I just decided to stop using it for a while.
Few days ago, I decided to go back to Fresh Evo rom (after full dalvic+cache/cache/and factory wipe) because of other preferences, and I also thought it'd help me with my music app problem. Same problem still persists. If I lock my screen with the HTC Music app it'll switch to the Android Music App instead, and same thing if i hit the pause/pick up call button on my earphones. Is there anyway for me to disable the android music app or fix this problem?
Also, sorry in advance if this is the wrong section. I just assumed that this was an app related question.
And of course, thanks in advance!
I installed Equalizer and was happy with it, until last night. I've eliminated the headphones and the Note itself as the culprit. (Headphones work fine on MP3 player, and audio sounds great from speakers. Also, initial "Samsung" startup sound is fine through headphones.)
I'm getting A LOT of sort of squeaky static when using Equalizer, either with Music Player or Video Player. The static doesn't start right away, but after a minute or two. I REALLY like the way the audio sounds with Equalizer (minus the static), so I'd like to keep using it. But it's unbearable the way it is. I poked around in the Equalizer settings, as well as Music Player settings. I've got my Music Effects set to Equalizer. I have no other sound effects app running.
Also, I can't seem to disable Equalizer. I force stop it, and it keeps coming back to appear in my notification area. Can't find a setting for that, either.
Anyone else have any issues with this app?
Thanks!

Just noticed the same issue myself. I'm not 100% sure it's because of Equalizer yet, though... still have to do a few more tests. But it does seem to be the likely culprit.
I know what you mean... I really like Equalizer, so I'd love to be able to use it, but I think the static problem would be a deal killer for me if the app turns out to in fact be the cause of the problem. I'm especially choked since I JUST paid for the full version, like half an hour before realizing the problem!
BTW, for what it's worth, I'm using an Asus Transformer Infinity.

Just so as to not tarnish the reputation of Equalizer, I've now come to the conclusion that the problem is NOT in fact the Equalizer app. It happens with or without Equalizer running, and regardless of whether "Music effects" in settings is set to the stock option or Equalizer.
What I just found out today is that the problem seems to be related to playing of media off of the microSD card. When I play a movie off of the microSD, I get that buzzing sound. But when I play the exact same file off of the internal storage, it's gone! I guess this is a sign that there's some interference being generated by the microSD port that isn't properly shielded. Lame, since I was using the strategy of keeping all my movies on a microSD card (and a strategy I'll now have to change), but at least it's resolvable.
Try another SD card. I also keep the media files on the SD card and I have no problems .

I have a Samsung Galaxy A8, and when I play mp3s I get weird static sounds and popping noises, I also experienced this on the Samsung Galaxy S8. However when I would play the same song through YouTube on my phone I wouldn't get the noises. After reading this thread and trying all the different suggestions to no avail I thought to myself hang on I'll try and play an mp3 on my (Samsung Galaxy Tab a 10.1. SM-T580) To my surprise no static or popping noises. I am not sure as to why this is however I thought I would mention it for you or other people to work out a possible workaround.

JB 4.2.1
Has anyone got either Volume+ or equilizer to work on the latest version of JB?
I can't get any joy from either. I used to be able to ramp up the sliders on equilizer which gave a boost but now there's no difference. A little clue to the fact that something is happening is that in equilizer if I choose the drop down for slider quick settings when I choose maximum I get a momentary volume increase. Momentary being about 1/4 sec.
I'd be interested if anyone has had any luck with either app and if so can you give any details on how you got it to work?

I use Beats. It seems to work for me.
I used to use equalizer but switched to dsp manager a while back which works fine.....
Let me reinstall equalizer to see if it still works.
Are we talking head phones or tab speakers here btw?
EDIT: Well I just tried equalizer and it worked brilliantly! :good: So it is something with you setup. You have enabled it from settings, sound, music effect haven't you?

Yes, music effects has been toggled to equilizer. Hmm, that's interesting - I presume you are on 4.2.1?
Something is obviously overriding it as the quick blip of extra volume I get when using the pull down and setting max sliders. I have set the sounds to play a ding when I do anything so I hear a quick ding in the louder volume then it goes back to original level.
Also I notice you are not on the stock rom so that may have something to do with it.
Not sure what might be causing it. Anyone else can confirm either this works or they experience the same thing?

beats? I'll try that - presume the it's an app called that.
No I'm not on stock But very similar.
There is a noticable increase in volume using equalizer. I'm sure there is a free demo version on the play store for you to try.

Yes I've tried this and what I notice is the opposite. When the sliders are reset to the middle the sound is normal (ie. same as without equilizer loaded) but louder than if I set the sliders to maximum.
As I say when I toggle to maximum there is a quick and much louder momentary sound increase which lasts a fraction of a second before going down to the lower volume.
I'm not sure what to look at as being the problem as there isn't much I have loaded that I can see might affect this. Very strange.
Still I'd be interested in anyone that can confirm a working instance with stock rom.
Edit: I have now tried a number of other equilizers and get the same behaviour so it appears something is resisting any change in settings.

I'm currently running Cromi 4.6.9 but have had this same problem on earlier Cromi versions too, actually for most of this year it seems. Which coincides with this thread saying the 4.2.1 update caused it for many people on various Nexus devices, which is referenced in Equalizer's app description on Google Play.
Equalizer always worked great for me until around then, and I've tried many things like uninstall/reinstall, other boosters including DSP Manager, even did full wipes during this period, but the volume just doesn't boost anymore. I use PowerAmp, and its built-in equalizer boosts the volume just as loud as Equalizer app used to do, which shows it's still possible but only within that app. Btw, I used PowerAmp in the past when Equalizer also worked fine, so I don't think it creates a conflict.
After seeing the above thread, I tested Equalizer on my Nexus 4 phone, which normally needs no volume boosting, with the same result - for a split-second it's louder but then goes to a slightly lower level than you started at, just as on my TF700. To me this indicates it would work correctly, but something else that wasn't there before now dampens it almost immediately.
@sdbags:
If for you it's apparently working correctly with same ROM as me on a TF700, can you think of why it's not for others? Also thanks for your fine work!
I have a Nexus S 4g running slimbean official 7. It was been great for the last 3 months then for the last few days I have been losing my audio. It's just phone sounds and audio that doesn't work, notifications, and voice calls. Apps, games, slacker or other music apps seem to work fine. Sometime the audio will work for a little bit and then cut out. Like I can usually reboot the phone and the audio will work, but I will make a phone call and hear the 1st ring, then it will cut out and nothing else will work. I can test to see if the audio is working but just changing the volume and see if it makes the been letting you hear the volume level. Once or twice I can get it to start working for a bit by going back and forth between vibrate and ring, but most of the time that has no effect. I can't really tell what makes it work, and what makes it go out. It has been working great up until now, I really don't want to have to factory reset, I really wanna know what is causing this. One other thing is that it seems like several apps get really slow when the audio goes out, like the dialer app will hang and ask if i want to close it, but if you wait it always comes back, same with my launcher and sometimes the system settings if I am messing around in there, it also seems the volume slider is slow to respond when the sound isn't working, but very responsive if it is working. I haven't installed any new apps or made any changes that I know of since this started. I have tried killing and extra apps with no effect, and tried rebooting to recovery and clearing cache with no effect either. Sometimes you can reboot the phone just for the audio to work for a second or two before cutting out again.
Try greenify app and update slimbean. Make a nandroid backup first then restore via Nandroid Manager.
Download+Backup+Flash+Restore takes about 3 hours for me (i got many SMS).
Does anyone else have this kind of problem? The volume while playing music is always changing, like one step up or down every 5 minutes give or take.
- I disabled all the sound and equalizer options from the settings to test if that was the cause but it didn't help.
- Rebooting the phone also didn't help.
- I use Spotify, didn't test any other app yet but I don't have this problem on my Nexus 5 using the same Spotify version.
- There is no way the volume keys were pressed accidentally because even when the phone just lies there, flat on the table, this happens.
- I am on the latest OTA.
Ha ha I thought I was crazy. Yes I do, it's not a drastic change in volume but I know exactly what you're talking about
Same problem here. ..
Did anyone find a solution to this problem? This is probably the most annoying bug I've ever experienced.

I have the same issue on my edge
I had the same problem, it was due to the "Sound Alive+" option in the sound menu.
I found that it was incompatible with both Spotify and Google Play Music, changing the volume of the songs randomly. As soon as I disabled this, the volume glitch stopped.
However, I migrated across to the stock music app, as I love the Sound Alive option.

That doesn't solve the problem for me, I disabled all the sound options (and still have them disabled) and even all the gestures and this still happens regularly...
Hey guys, same problem, I assume it's because of the equalizer voice/instrument equalizer wheel, for some reason it keeps adjusting music vs voice when I play music even if it's set up to normal... Let's hop samsung provides a way to fix this
I had the same issue initially as well using a bt speaker.
I have disabled sound Alive+. In addition, I have disabled the EQ of my speaker and in spotify. Doing so solved the issue for me...
Spotify informs you that using the Equalizer (software) it can affect sound level on some devices. So make sure that you do not have (extreme) equalizer settings in any of the affected software and hardware....
If you take all together, with a modern setup, the sound file is processed by: 1.) the playing software (with EQ) 2.) the streaming device (with EQ or sound improving software e.g. the samsung galaxy) 3.) the recieving (BT) device with software EQ (e.g. the UE Boom).
With my setup, I can turn of EQ at any stage and this solves the problem for me. If your BT speaker does not allow changes of its sound processing, this could be an issue...

How can you disable the EQ settings of spotify? I can't find such option in my app settings.

Hey guys, I found a fix, I uninstalled the app and installed the previous version (2.6.0.813) from the amazon app store and it's working fine, if the app store is not available you can easily find this version online.

Anyone still experiencing this issue, wait for the new spotify app update (2.8) or download the apk directly from here: https://community.spotify.com/t5/fo...oard-id/spotifyandroid/page/8/thread-id/43089
Scroll down a bit till you find the link. Fixed the issue for me!

Did you/anyone ever solve this? When I plug in earphones, the Google app starts automatically (and restarts each time I close it) and then the volume goes up and down automatically.

Just last month my phone did a system update that took what felt like forever. Whatever was updated seemed to fix the issue. I haven't had any trouble since. Sorry. I know that doesn't really answer your question.
