Which Ad Blocker for Note 5? - Galaxy Note5 Themes and Apps

Never used one before. Any recommendations for the note 5?

You can't do much without Root. Adblockplus didn't work.

AdBlock plus is working for me un-rooted. I have to swap my phone out with T-Mobile, just waiting on my replacement.

Just use NoChromo browser, it's Chrome without ads. It's the best.

I use Adguard. It works on none rooted phones and works to remove any ad from all browsers. Does not work on in app ads though. It also works by making a VPN on your phone and then filtering content that goes through the VPN.

Yes it does work for in apps ads. ..you just need to pay premium 9.99 for 1 year. ...works like a champ

Okay I should of stated, Free edition does not work on in-app adds.

Thanks! Trying adguard now. Was a bit nervous since its not in Google play, seems pretty good so far. Will post follow up after I use it for a bit.

Yeah I did try is out is look good so far.

Ad guard seem to kill my battery so I uninstall what is everyone battery life like?

I'm also using adguard free, works great on chrome even seems to load pages faster. This is off topic a bit but, how do you turn the notification off on the lock screen and from the drop down? I'm using the widget to turn adguard off/on which also turns off the notifications. I even went into settings to block notifications from the app but they're still there. Ideas?

I did block background data. It was using mobile data for some reason. I always turn off adguard when I'm not using chrome, so maybe that's why I haven't noticed a battery drain.

Yeah i noticed the same thing after only one day. It used 7%. Plus look at this data usage in about 24 hours. It blocks ads, great, but pretty sure it's a fail.

Was gonna run battery life test with adguard today but it's stopping all my Internet. Gonna delete it & check out adblockplus.

Adblockplus is a browser correct? Couldn't find Nochromo in the playstore. Typically i would prefer an app over a new browser because i do like chrome, but ads are driving me nuts so I can always adjust to running a new browser.

Using wifi didn't drained the battery, using LTE battery is drained.

Thanks for verifying. Seemed like a good app but battery drain is a no no for me personally. Giving Nochromo arm64 a shot now. Hopefully it nets good results.

Adblocl browser for android takes care of the ads for me.

Yeah i apologize i think it was probably my rom i had at the time.
battery kills me too. not during use, but when it is constantly pinging the server (even with use on WiFI only setting)
I will try reinstalling to see if I can fix it, but I wish it didn't have to CONTINOUSLY run in the background
okay i got it up an runnin, error on the roms side..fixed the rom now im TIKL away..it does seem to drain battery life..i have been using this rom for 4 days now with incredible battery life (22-30hrs). with TiKl up its down to 7-hrs...thas no good, but it has to stay on to get calls...so if you want to use it, then use it...if not then dont...no way to fix..if you kill the process/task then you will not recieve the calls

Juice Defender

Is it worth it?
I use the free version and swear by it. I have exceptional battery life when using Juice defender. I have gone 16/17 hours before without needing to charge with moderate phone use. The only difference between the free and the charge version is that on the pay version you can create your own profiles. I just use the standard profile and it is awesome. Download the free version and give it a try.
Totally worth it.

thanks, I'll ive t a try. I read some palces it does mroe harm than good
How does turning the data off, then turning it on every 15 minutes do more harm than good?
I use it if I'm in a 4G area or really trying to stretch the battery out. It does work wonders!
I use the free version and notice the gains. usually see about a twenty percent gain
Absolutely, although I have a strange issue with the service getting killed since I got the G2x, still love the app though. I have UltimateJuice btw
i bought the ultimate version and i never know how to do the settings so i ended up giving up on it.. and just manually turn wifi off and 2g on when i stop using the phone >_>

I installed the free version and it unstablized my phone. There are some Wifi apps that will turn off your wifi, when you leave your home automatically. Search WOOFI in marketplace. Or Auto Wifi Enabler.
Ya I had issues with reboots and instability while using the free version, it would also cause GPS to shut off and I would need a reboot to get it back. Just as easy to toggle it my self.

I uninstalled also. I was having issues receiving POP email in a timely manner. I had it set to check every half hour but sometimes four or five hours would go by then a ton of emails would flood in. I am going to spring for the next step up because you have more control over individual apps and how they connect. I will post back with results.
for those saying it works wonders are you saying this as someone who keeps wifi and gps on all the time? wifi crunches the battery so if all this does is periodically turn it on and off it's not going to do much for me. i only turn it on when i need it.

Snapdragon Battery Guru

Hi All,
This is an app that i just found that apparently is extremely useful for the I9505 variant containing the Snapdragon processor.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.xiam.snapdragon.app#_blank
"Snapdragon™ BatteryGuru is a battery life saver app that extends battery performance and improves overall user experience by intelligently making changes that optimize device functionality in phones with Snapdragon mobile processors."
I have just installed it to see how it goes over the next few days.
Just thought i should share it with everyone.
Cheers

I used this app for Nexus 4 when it was launched, after it learnt it mostly disabled my Gmail/Whatsapp/Tango and whenever I used to open those APPs then only I could get notifications. This is even when, I have disabled that do not enable this feature on this & this app. Strangely I had to uninstall the app so that I can receive notifications

Its mostly useless because of this.
I used it on my previous phone as well, Motorola RAZR HD. There were options to enable data for those apps (I don't use Tango though), and I did.
In the end all it was essentially doing is managing my WiFi, and it made poor choices about that, disconnecting me when I was at home and using WiFi. It made sense to the app; WiFi took more power, but it wasn't the way I wanted to use it.
In the end, it didn't do anything but screw up my experience. I could achieve what it had "learned" and tailored it to my needs using Tasker but doing that doesn't even make a significant difference when I'd set it up for a better power saving experience so those profiles inevitably got deleted.
I should add that the RAZR HD is built to be sort of similar to vanilla Android, and that I trust Samsung a lot more when it comes to trying to optimise power consumption in its ROM without any add ons running, and that's quite a statement considering that the RAZR HD has incredible battery life.
I've had this app staring at me in Titanium Backup, uninstalled, since I got the phone and the urge to try it out comes and goes, but overall I can't really conceive that its a good idea to do so. There's no magical things that it does which can't be accomplished using other tools and most of those tools aren't really worth it despite doing a better job for the reason of the user having more control over what conditions need to be met for the functions to take place. The days of Android needing help with power management through third party apps are for the most part in the past and only exist on pretty old phones.

Yep. And I guess if the functions of this app were so great how it tells you in the description, it would be in the source code of the qualcomm's kernel itself. Maybe it can save some battery but only for those millions of unexperienced users arround the world, who doesn't even know, what android really is.
I would stick with greenify and that's enough. Everything else is the job for the kernel.

I let it run the whole learning period and just ended a few hours ago...
So it started saving battery... The phone was idle the whole time.
You see a huge decline in battery? Thats when the App BatteryGuru started to "save battery", how ironic.
"Google Services" seems to be the cause in here..
When checking Wake Lock Detector,
BatteryGuru is the most wake lock...
Question is, Shall I continue using it?
i started using this app with the adam kernel and ive noticed that my battery life has increased from 12 hours of use to 18/19 hours of use
im a pretty avid phone user. mainly music, web browsing, phone calling, text, games, and seldomly maps (in order of importance to my personal life
with the stock kernel i saw no difference

Facebook App running 24/7

Just like my title says. It's so crazy how it never shuts off. Even if I Greenify it the thing will not stop. I was gonna say heck with it and just use the browser instead but there's so many things you can't do from the browser that you can do in the app. Check out my pic of how many times it's been waked in only 3 hours and I have only gone on it once for 20min or so.
Any suggestions on how to make it stop or is this going on with everyone? Thanks as always

My advice is to get rid of Facebook. In addition to wasting resources, the Facebook app sends information on literally everything you do on your phone to Facebook. Big Brother on steriods.

So gotta accept its evils, or get rid of it.

Have you disabled all the notifications, location services and chat heads within the fb app settings? If you leave it on, it's bound to wake up the phone multiple times and even greenify can't help it and I'm not sure why as Greenify works perfectly on every other app I've used.
I get about 10-20 wakelocks from facebook in a period of 2 hours even when it's Greenified. But the stay awake time is usually just a few seconds, so I'm not that worried.

Clean master itself is a huge wake locker + battery drainer
Facebook has always been that way on any device I put it on. Take others' advice and use the web site, or just know it's a hog and your device will use more data and battery. What can you do from the app that you cannot from the web site? I have made comment posts, posted pictures, checked in, sent messages, and accepted friend requests using the web site from my phone. What else is there? Apps maybe? I don't use those.
Greenify definitely works. I would never recommend clean master, or any other task killer, to anyone. You could also use xprivacy or wake lock blocker or app ops or restrict internet access to fb unless you're using it or... There are tons of options. I've used greenify and it's worked fine.

Samsungs poor app optimization!

After about a year of changing settings, factory resetting this device, clearing cache.... I started to do my own research and doing my own tinkering with the device. I found that samsungs app optimization disables features in apps in order to consume battery consumption, but the truth is, it actually does the exact thing that makes your phone slow down or be sluggish when opening and closing/ restarting apps. I've been an android fan boy for quite some time and we all learn to realise that these are high powered devices that are being somewhat crippled by the makers "Samsung" being the worst.... but to make a long story short disable all app optimization and you'll see how wonderful this device is in its natural state...
