hey. i have a samsung spica, not rooted and 2.1. youtube doesn't load videos even with wi-fi. only says loading video... and wait there forever. i've reflashed rom, installed other versions of youtube for eclair, but nothing fixed my problem. is there anyone who can help me? i'm about to go crazy -.-
It seems like youtube app is the problem. I suppose you can watch youtube videos with the browser. I also used youtube app but was disappointed, right now I'm using TubeMate and it works just fine. You could try it and see if it works for you.
I had similar problem where videos wouldn't play yet the app let me search.
I used titanium backup to uninstall the app. Rebooted then reinstalled it and it worked again.

sort of related to this thread:

Everything is stock on my phone and I'm running YouTube 5.2.27 with the new KitKat OS. I'm experiencing a bit of stutter/jitter when playing videos on YouTube in both low and high quality. The motion of the video isn't quite fluid. When playing the same vids through Freedi YT player or through the browser, I don' t see this issue at all but I love watching vids on the app the most, but can't stand the stutter.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issues? Sorry if this has been answered, I just couldn't find anything about it asides from the thread above me.
Having the same trouble, any solutions?

Are you running on 3G, LTE, Wifi? and it has to do with the version of youtube. Currently unnoticed with Franco kernel but may have somthing to do with the release build. Try clearing data/cache to see if that works. If not, uninstall the updates to factory to see if problem persists since that version. Reinstall again and try that as well.

This is the first time I heard about this issue.
I'm having issues as well. Playing youtube either hangs, FCs, or freezes. Same thing with browsing and using other apps. This is on high speed wifi, not just data. Tried factory reset and using custom rom. Didn't fix it so I'll most likely take it back.
A do the factory wipe.. after that was ok.. till i install the newest version of Youtube player from play store :| wtf… ?
Why only I have this issue... strange..
Are you guys stock? ART/Dalvik? Need more info!
stock, testes on davik and art no difference.

Like i write.. every YT movie launched from Play may make a crash, it’s a 50% chance, it's not depends of movie itself.

Verified..I just searched for 'game' on playstore, and on the first hit it played fine. Successive vid links crashed YT, but restarting the same vid allowed playback. This appears to be a pre-buffering issue.
Thanks for testing.
Yes, restarting allowed to playback, i also check on my old galaxy nexus .. the same issue appears ..
I should do this before I wipe my N5.. and lost all my saved games.. damn…
After testing on galaxy nexus I think that this issue is global .. it’s the newest YT player bug..
The strange thing is that I’m the only one who notice this.. and write on xda… nobody cares about crashing YouTube or what ?
Does anyone notice this;
(I've also tested this with my friends OnePlus One, manufacturers dates are about 1 month apart)
With instagram videos, vine videos, gallery videos, etc.. When I play them and then pause, I notice when I play it again it lags and the audio countinues to play but the video just stops unless I keep playing/pausing back and forth till the video resumes again. Don't know what this is buts its really annoying. Googled the answer for this and it seems no one has this issue.. I've tried several roms including CM11s gives me the same issue. Any solution or fix?
I think it has to do more with the app loading the video than the phone itself. I don't have issues playing videos in my gallery, but on Instagram and Vine, even Snapchat sometime lag.

Yes. When I play any types of videos and pause them I get a lag (video frozen but audio countinues to play) when I press play again. Sometimes it will lag for 2-3s then continue to play.
Wipe the cache on the gallery, vine, and instagram.
You PM'd me about this earlier. I don't use Instagram, Vine, or Gallery Videos (I use Gallery but I don't notice any lag in videos, I rarely ever use it though).
Some suggestions,
- Have you tried? http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/themes-apps/mod-smooth-scrolling-mod-mahdi-rom-t2840934
- Have you tried any custom kernels? If so, which ones?
- Are these fresh installations of Vine/Instagram/etc? Or are they backups from prior phones. If they're not fresh installations, try @Nexii's tip. If it continues to proceed, reinstall the app.

Same thing happens to me. Happens mainly on Instagram.
Like I might replay a video and the beginning of the video freezes but the audio continues to play. It has done this one every ROM I've used on the OnePlus One. May be hardware related.
i just played a few videos and have no lag running cm11s.

I'm starting to believe that too as my other friend is not affected by this.
It's not hardware. Hardware wouldn't make your videos lag. It's software and is caused by your set up. Take a video of the lag if you must demonstrate it.

No lag on my i9505.

Update;
I flashed the XNPH25R and went on with the phone, the phone did not have any of that absurd lag..
After flashing the next update in sequence, XNPH30O, the lag exists. Maybe related to the firmware updating from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4
Has anyone else had freezing videos after the 4.4.2 update? The sound is fine on the videos but the video part is freezing skipping lagging very badly.
Have you tried a 3rd party app?
From my Wicked S3 on SOKP
Yeah I tried VLC and a couple others. I can record fine but not play. Even YouTube videos are doing it. Weird
The battery also dies extremely fast. When I plug phone into computer it freezes my phone right away

Are you talking about the issue where YouTube is all grayscale, and has about 4 different horizontal strips, only the top of which is the correct(ish) video?
If so, I heard that's the gapps package issue. Uninstall and reinstall from the market.
A temp fix is to change the video quality, and then restart video from the beginning. It fixes it for that single video. I'm a tad lazy and haven't tried the above fix, but I will right now!
As for the others, not sure!
