Big issue with light sensor - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I explain you my issue...
First thing to say is that I had the same problem on my Galaxy S5 and of this reason I think that there is some app that causes this issue.
The problem is that the light sensor works normally when the outdoor luminosity increases, but the brightness of the screen doesn't reduces if the outside luminosity is going down until I block/unlock the phone again.
The result is that if I'm ouside during a sunny day and the brightness is set to the maximum level, also if I go to a cellar the brightness doesn't change.
Does anyone else have the sam issue?
Thanks

I'm having the same issue. Wish I knew what was causing it, but haven't a clue. Hopefully someone can help.

It's a very strange issue. I'm using Lux that is working fine but it would nice to be able to use also the default brightness slider in the notification panel.

I've used lux in the past on previous devices, but forgot all about it. Gonna give it a try!

Auto Brightness Issue?

I'm curious to know if I'm the only one with this issue. I haven't been able to pinpoint it, but it seems like after every reboot I have to go back into the brightness settings and enable "auto brightness" again.
Anyone else seeing this?

Hmm. Well that just made my issue suck that much more. Lmao.
No big deal, hopefully I won't be rebooting that often.

yeah that or hope someone else had the same issue and fixed it somehow
Possible Solution?
I was having the same issue, I switched on and off auto-brightness, turned off the phone, pulled the battery, turned on the phone, switched auto-brightness on and restarted the phone. After all that, auto-brightness is working correctly. I hope this helps.

I'll probably try that next time I run into the issue. When auto is on it works well.
Sorry for the late reply, I have this exact issue too. Annoys the **** out of me.

Well that's three of us. Hate the issue, but doesn't it feel better when you know you're not retarded and the issue really does exist?
I have been having this issue at well. It appears to happen at random!
I've heard that the auto-brightness bug happens when your phone goes into power-saver mode. It turns off auto-brightness, but then doesn't turn it back on once you've recharged.
Not positive this is the cause, but it seems logical - I'll have to keep an eye out the next time I let my battery run low...
I've noticed that more often than not, the phone fails to switch autobrightness back on after exiting the camera app.
Happens to me too. I never really pay attention enough to notice when it occurs.

Led notification light issues

Hi all
Just got my 2nd nexus 5, first one went back for touch screen issues. Got 2nd one and this has problem too.
If someone sends me a text the pulse notification light pulses once and that's it. No repeat. However after that if someone sends me a text it works as it should, ie repeats every 10 seconds.
Seems very random as to when it works properly. Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks all
Chris

Yes, people have this problem on stock rom.. It appears randomly though and not as often as you're getting. A restart fixes it... Are you using Light Flow or any app to control the LED??
No will light flow solve this?

May be, May be not. Even light flow has some random problems with LED notifications... For some people it works flawlessly, for some it doesn't... Only way is to try it out...

Trying it now seems to work ok. Strange that my last nexus didn't suffer this problem. Wounder if Google are aware of this issue?
Also on a side note not sure if it's related but I'm sure my first nexus 5 did a software update when I first took it out of the box, my new one did not do that.

Yes, I think they are aware of it... I remember reading it somewhere around XDA about it.. Can't find a link to it though.. I guess we will just have to wait for the update and see... FYI, a reboot fixes the issue temporarily..
It didn't update because the ones which were manufactured in January came with 4.4.2 Out of the box which is the latest update!

Thanks for your reply mate, for me when I reboot the first message does not work, then they seem ok after that, that's just for sms, I get no notifications at all with whatsapp etc, however light flow seems to work ok at moment but would be nice if Google did a fix.

auto brightness problem with t-mobile

Anyone having issues with auto brightness not adjusting? I find it when i unlock my phone that it is too dark to see anything.
What's about after that?

Same here actually, the adaptive brightness sucks on my T-mobile Z3.
Same here on my D6616 Tmobile z3 . Has anyone else experienced random screen flickers like an old CRT type flicker? been seeing this the past few days on mine.
No, flickers here. Auto-brightness seems okay for me, maybe I just have low standards lol, after the G2's auto-brightness issues.
It's been the same for all Xperia phones as far as I can remember. You would have better results with a 3rd party app (something like Lux Autobrightness).

[UPDATE ISSUE FIXED] Honor 6X Display colour and contrast issue in games

Update to this thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...ur-contrast-issue-games-t3536941/post71251414
Hey everyone, if anyone plays clash of clans or boom beach on their honor 6x then please help me out. The contrast feels abnormally high in clash of clans compared to other phones and there's this weird brightess and dimming going on in the game. Can anyone confirm this or know a solution to it?

If you are playing indoors then turn off automatic brightness, that should help with the brightness problems.

I have auto brightness turned off. It is more of a screen dimming problem rather than a brightness problem, looks like a software issue like huawei tried to optimize something. Can you please just confirm if you have it the same way when playing coc?

Don't think replacement will be possible now and seems it some good amount of time you have phone with you now whereas the replacement may be applicable only for fee days of purchase

Mine is less than 10days. Replacement is still available. My question is, whether everyone has this problem or only few. If everyone, there's no use in replacing.
Settings - Display - Color Temperature nd set color temperatur as Default OK

Adaptive brightness is too dim

I generally like the adaptive brightness setting on this phone, but I often find it sets itself to the absolute lowest brightness setting on occasions where it seems inappropriate. If there a way to change adaptive brightness so that it keeps the screen a little brighter?

I too experience this. Would love to hear if this is persistent across all users. The adaptive brightness is too dim even in a moderately lit environment.

I did use the search and found the same thread you had linked before... But the workaround is for rooted users only.
Sorry for the trouble. Just wanted to know whether someone has any update on this issue being acknowledged by OnePlus and whether a possible fix is on the way.

No need to get rude dude. Did they mention anything about rooting the phone or installing xposed or Magisk? That being said, guys there are some kernels that can help ir try play store for some available apps.

There won't be a fix, because it isn't an issue
OnePlus does this since the OnePlus 3, and they will keep it.
You really have to root your phone when you want to change it
