Couldn't find Mobile Network Type - AT&T LG G3

Hello, Recently I have bought an Unlocked At&T LG G3 The seller told me that the phone has a bad IMEI But it's unlocked to be used interntionally. When I received it, It's working fine, except the data network speed trough EDGE is too slow. As yo can see on the screenshot below I couldn't find the option to change the network type. and I'm stuck at "E" which mean EDGE.
http://s14.postimg.org/8r7vs0x27/Quick_Memo_2015_09_09_11_41_43_1.png
The phone's model is LG-D850 and it's running android 4.4.2 KitKat. it has no IMEI when I dial *#06# it shows IMEI: 0-05 on Settings/about phone/Status... it says IMEI: 0

Anyone here to help?

First, here are the possible reasons why you don't have an IMEI:
The phone was reported lost or stolen in the past.
The phone is still active on the owner's wireless carrier account.
There is money owed on the wireless carrier account to which the ESN/MEID/IMEI is connected.
For the reasons above, this community does not support such devices and you will probably not get any help.
But, this can also happen during a bad flash, so to fix the issue, you have 3 options:
Reset, unroot, then root and flash again
Try the suggested steps in this video
Find a company that can fix the problem by sending the phone to them

Thanks for your reply, I'm not seeking to restore the IMEI. I just want to have the option to switch mobile network type. Should I root the phone and install a custom ROM?

My bad, thought you wanted the IMEI back. In that case, the E (edge) is showing up could be due to Maroc Telecom throttling your connection or their towers could be far way (happens when you travel cross country too). Anyway, if you want to fiddle with network settings and try to get it to work BEFORE attempting to flash any ROM, try the following [3845#*855# 3845#*850#] USSD code from your stock dialer. You will get a hidden menu containing a juicy list of options and settings, so what you are probably looking for is the "LTE-Only" option (I am not sure though, but you can look through the settings).
And as always, attempt the suggestions AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I'm living at a major city, here the 4G works great. So yeah I have to change the mobile network type since it is on EDGE by defaut I guess.
I attemted the USSD code however it says "connection problem or invalid mmi code" after I hit dial. I have also tried a bunch of codes before but no luck.
I think I will falsh the phone that's the option left. I just have rooted the phone, then I will install TWRP and I will try to flash a ROM in it. What do youu suggest me to use from those ROMs posted here ?

I haven't flashed any custom ROMs on my LG, but from experience, each device somehow reacts differently to custom ROMs. For instance, I've flashed my S.G. Note (i717) over 30 times and some ROMs were stable at first then started having issues with them.
The best advice I can give you, is to pick a ROM from the list you posted and check the comments to see if it is stable or too many users have issues with it.

Hey Kultch, I have a similar sitch, and remedy. I also have a rogers unlocked focus, but I'm using it on Virgin, and I found, (again, and again, since I have factory reset the phone many times), that using the, "Samsung Tools", app fixes my MMS issue every time, (the tool wasn't made for this specific issue, but it seems 2 be a good side effect. You should notice the difference after re-boot
**The issue stems from Samsung not recognizing your new providers sim card, resulting in the phone not resetting the VPN settings like it's suppose 2. You'll also probably notice that your browser defaults to a rogers site**
I can not using

[Q] unlock question (aahk & miui)

I used aahk for unlock/root/cwm etc and flashed miui right after it. Now I put in another sim and it says no service but in the the apn settings it shows the carrier I am trying to connect. But when I open the network operators options it gives me an "error while searching for nwtwork".
Not sure this is miui or aahk issue. Please help.

As far as I know the sim unlock does not work for all carriers and all phones. There was a case similar to yours a couples of weeks and guys from the thread answered that..but it might be different. Read this posts it may be helpfull
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16460362&postcount=1391
But search a bit in the Hack Kit Thread, there are many questions about that....
You still have to update the APN settings for whatever carrier your trying to use.

Test Menu > Set GSM/UMTS Band Problem

Hey everyone. I'm having a problem with my network after going into the test menu (*#*#4636#*#*). I'm hoping someone can help me out, and hopefully this will also help others in the future that have the same problem. I haven't seen any other discussion about this for this phone. I am on Verizon Wireless and have a Droid RAZR MAXX HD.
Background: I was helping a friend re-enable 4G LTE on her HTC Thunderbolt, which the store had disabled for her when she first got it because 4G was not yet available in her city. I figured this was done in the test menu, so I went to it from mhy phone to help her set similar settings.
The Problem: Stupidly enough, because I love tinkering with things, I pressed the menu button (...) and pressed the "Set GSM/UMTS Band" button. My two options were "USA Band" and "Cellular". I panicked a bit, then thinking, decided to select "USA Band". When I did that, I was on Verizon Wireless, and I get LTE data. However, I can't make or receive phone calls. My phone won't ring (though it "rings" for the person trying to call me and they get to my voicemail). If I try to call someone else, it hangs perpetually at "dialing". Setting the band to "Cellular" gives me both LTE/1X data and phone calls, but now I'm perpetually stuck on "Extended Network", which I can only imagine is U.S. Cellular in my area.
Normally, this wouldn't be a problem. I can make and receive calls just fine, data works OK. However, I'm afraid that when I travel and (what I think is) U.S. Cellular, I'm going to be in trouble, and not be able to make or receive phone calls. I need to fix this before I travel. I understand that doing a factory reset or SBF to ICS will solve the problem (please confirm if this will fix it?), but that's my ultimate and final solution. I'm not rooted right now so I don't have the luxury of backing up my app data and text messages, and would like to find a different way to fix this first if it exists. I'm hoping I didn't permanently screw up my phone. Any help is appreciated.
I would just backup your phone using my backup or my backup root. Rooting your RAZR HD maxx is very very simple.. I would backup using my backup and restore back to stock ics using matts utility (Google it) and then root, then protect root using ota root keeper from the marketplace and then protect root and unroot in the app. Then install the ota update from Verizon. Then re enable root in the app and make sure to update binaries in superuser. That is very important. Then just protect root and unroot and upgrade to jellybean. Then your problem will be fixed and you will have root on jellybean. If you need me to list it in simpler terms and help you through any of the process, just message me bud. Good luck!

Instead of rooting the device, you might just do a factory reset to resolve this issue... Saves your warranty and rooting won't fix the radio misconfiguration.

A simpler set of steps are:
1. Backup my phone phone
2. Download matts utility
3. Restore back to ICS using the utility
4. Root using utility
5. Push OTA root keeper app using utility
6. Protect root and unroot
7. Install over the air update (OTA)
8. Enable root and update binaries in app
9. Protect root again and unroot
10. Install JB and re enable root
Rooting is definitely worth the benefits and restoring back to stock firmware is very easy if you need to return it under warranty. I have never had a case where they rejected my warrant because I was rooted. They all go to a factory and are just sbf'd back to stock anyway and repaired hardware wise. I wouldn't worry about it buddy. And another note, all the employees of my Verizon store have their phones rooted and even encouraged me to root mine for obvious reasons. Good luck buddy.

Thanks for the detail, itsdubai. I am aware of how to root, and I had my phone rooted on ICS and I used Voodoo OTA RootKeeper. The step I flubbed was not using "temp unroot". That caused me to lose root even though I thought I had protected it. I wish I had done it correctly the first time because then I wouldn't be so concerned about having to do a factory reset or SBF to ICS. However, the My Backup suggestion has definitely alleviated some of my concerns. The loss of text messages and other unrecoverable data was my biggest issue. I hate losing my app data but I can stomach that.
Do you or does anyone else know about this particular "Set GSM/UMTS Band" problem, and are we 100% sure that a factory reset or SBF back to ICS then OTA update will for sure fix the problem? Is there no other way to fix this without doing one of those things? I imagine that this configuration is set on the ROM somewhere and that Verizon just didn't leave an option to have the right bands active, so I'm just trying to make 100% sure that refreshing the ROM like this will fix it. Even with My Backup, setting a phone back up from factory is frustrating.

I had similar issues when I was playing with a Droid bionic. The only solution I found to fix the signal was to reset to do a factory reset... I saw out actually reset some BP code which I found was really interesting.

Hello,
How & where to run these commands for my OnePlus 2 ?
For OP2, there is a Toolbox which runs in DOS on PC.
Am I supposed to put my phone in Fastboot mode, & then run these commands on the DOS based toolbox ?
Actually, I tried to change Radio Band of my phone, which resulted in one of my 3G SIM not getting detected !
but other LTE sim, is working fine though.

Hi, i have the same problem with my Xperia M4 Aqua. I stupidly pressedat the "Select Radioband" option and moronly select "USABand". Now my phone can't make nor receive a call and only runs in LTE Network.I have read some forums that suggested me to install the MTK Engineering and I have tried to download the MTK Engineering Mode, but it won't also run in my phone, it says that my phone isn't supported. Now i've been so confused.
Is factory reset my device is a wise option and can fix the problem?
did ne1 say chnge it back
Use somthing like xprivacy or that, mine has gsm umst or auto, its in settings using the app root or not, :crying: :good:

Mobile Network Not Available

Hi guys randomly yesterday I got a problem where Mobile Network is not available.
I have 4g signal and can use internet but can text or phone call. I have odined the stock666 file and did some dial code but still didn't fix it. I also flashed back to stock and tried removing and inserting sim but still same problem.
any ideas?
I can receive texts but cannot send any. it seems like a weird network setting on my phone.
I tried doing a factory reset and tried even swapping sim cards... no go

i have spent hours trying to fix. let me know if you find a fix. phone is unusable
Try this, go to open1your1eyes0 thread for Stock Jelly Bean Factory Images http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
Go down to VRBLK3 Image Downloads (Official 4.1.1 OTA - Built on 11/30) and click on show content. It should have the Stock odin for VRBLK3. Odin that image and see if your mobile Network works then. (watch out, it wipes everything, relocks bootloader etc) Also try to get a screen shot of your status screen in about device so we all can help you better. It could be a IMEI issue, but hard to tell. Were you using a custom rom at the time? Which rom? Is Mobile data enabled? Preferred network mode to LTE/CDMA?
I have seen several instances where the newer versions of CM have had network issues. I'd recommend backing up your files, wiping everything, and trying another ROM. If that doesn't work, it sounds to me like it could be a hardware issue. Best of luck.

Check and see if your IMIE and or ERI numbers have been reset. If you are with Verizon I believe that your ERI number should be 5. I had this issue happen as well. If you have a nv backup just use terminal and restore it, if not look here. If you're on Verizon (I'll assume that) and received a phone thru them, the SIM card should have been in the box with the phone. If not you'll need to go to a Verizon store and they'll provision one for you. You'll not have service until you have installed the proper SIM card.

We need a little more background, Lucas. What have you done to get there? Are you rooted? What ROM?
I've had network issues a few times, usually I resolve them using the "Phone Info" app, but it's a little complicated, so I'd rather hear back from you as to how this all started before I get too specific.
For the people with service issues, it's been asked but no on really answered unless I missed it. Does your IMEI say 0 instead of the number that's under your battery? Does your ERI say None instead of 5? Under mobile network does it say Verizon? Also, sign into your Verizon account and under your phone instead of S3 does it say non-vzw device? If so you you've lost your IMEI and ERI. There are a couple of different ways to get it back if you didn't make a backup. I haven't done it but alot of XDAers stated using odin to get back to stock and I hear reprovisioning your phone with a numerical keypad entry on the dialer worked. Here's what I did.
1) Flashed a stock rooted TW rom.
2) Used this thread and software to get my imei back : http://droidmodderx.com/galaxys3/?page_id=79
3) I had my IMEI back and on my account my phone read S3 but I still had no ERI.
4) Follow these steps here, the previous posters thread won't open because XDA can get in alot of trouble from having the Samsung Repair Tool on it, or so I hear : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=44871571&postcount=3
5) You can find what you need there. The tool won't work without a downgraded modem, well at least for me it didn't until I did.
6) I forgot a step in that, once you're back you've backed your IMEI you can then upgrade your modem back to what you want.
Hope this helps

Actually I did some research and figured out that my problem is that my IMEI was lost after the ROM flashing. That is the reason I can't make calls nor send texts...
Now I am trying to find some way to fix it. I did not have an /efs backup so my task is complicated. x(
Anyway, thanks for your help! =)
Tell us what ROM! if it was CM10.2 Go flash a different ROM and you'll be fine your IMEI isn't really lost.

Anyone figure this problem out? I'm having the issue with my GS4 after flashing CM 10.2 nightlies. I've gone back to stock everything, and still no service. I can't send texts or calls. It now just tells me I'm roaming all the time. I'm going back into verizon today to get a new SIM card. Hopefully that will help.
The link u posted is no longer available. Or explain what steps to due to fix this on my s4 Verizon l545. I'm having the no network available w calls and texts but I am able to text just no calling. Thanks
Update: Oct. 1 2013. I was able to fix my issue by doing a factory data reset from settings. I was running Hyperdrive rom, w TWRP 2.5.0.2. I did do a nandroid backup before doing this but then an update in Hyperdrive was available so I just did the clean install after that and was good to go. My problem started when attempting to do the hidden menu sim unlock free method. So if this happens to u, u should be able to try this method and get calls back, but Im not sure about unlock status.

[HOW-To] Manual Program (SPR&VZW)

Well, Over the last few days I've seen more and more reports of "no service" and "unknown" service issues. Where you cant make or recieve calls, or text, and you are only getting data on lte.
" This will work to manual program a vzw phone also if you choose the one that has VZW.only in its name"
The LG LS997 V20 seems to have lost the ability to edit your PTN and MSID under ##786# method, and ive verified they also removed
##6DigitMSL# code. This eliminated the usual route to manually program your phone and get talk and text back without the network sending a update.
Heres the fix
Download Shortcut Master Lite From the playstore
Link here :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vndnguyen.shortcutmaster.lite
and once downloaded you need to go to the search option and search
iot.cdmasettings
Then you need to click Launch on that one you searched..
Click:
CDMA PREFERENCES
Then:
NAM settings
Then Enter these things
MDN = Your Phone number
HOME SID = 4139
MCC = 310
MNC = 00
MIN2 = YOUR AREA CODE
MIN1 = MSID ( need to get from sprint or sprint.com chat ask for msid )
IMSI_MCC - 310
IMSI_MNC = 00
S2 = 000
S1 = 0001370
then back out and let it reboot,
for some this is a soft fix, for some this may be all you needed- it dosn't address the full issue, but this will at-least get you started to recovery.
Confirmed this worked on my LS997. Awesome Dev took several hours out of his day to troubleshoot this and get a fix.
screenshots added ++++ sorry text is small, i had to remove my personal info from the photos. Just use photos as reference for the text in op!
Hope this helps a few out, im still working on finding a 100% resolution to why this even came out as a issue. I'm almost certain your modem is NOT the issue, but a issue with provisioning and the way your phone is getting updated/or received a bad update
please continue to provide feedback and info related to when this 1st happens so i can figure out the main source.

Def worth the time man. You made it 10x easier being direct and following the info to the T.
EXACTLY what needed to be done for a positive resolution!
:good:
you can also go to the same place by searching msl.
and clicking the bottom one of the 2 that show up, click edit, and put in your ptn click okay the the full msid then okay. once done you need to reboot.
I don't think I'm having any issues other than I seem to experience more areas where I lose service than I did before I rooted.
When I searched for iot.cdmasettings - nothing came up.
I then searched for cdmasettings and again nothing came up.
I then searched for iot and a bunch of stuff came up. I noticed the 2nd. item from the top had iot/cdmasettings so I clicked that one.
My S1 is 0000375
I wonder if MSID is the same as MSL?
The link to the app above didn't work for me.

No.. Your msid is a number sprint uses to provision.
I work for sprint.
Are you on sprint and using my rom?
This only applies to sprint users.

The rom I am running is 5.0 or F I think I have seen it referred as. Not sure if it's yours but if it is - Thank You very much for all you have done for us poor left out sprint users. I downloaded a newer version (6.0) but not sure if I want to install it or if I'll gain anything.

i would clean install version 6.5 phh
the majority of us are running it now.
Its stable and soild, and will pass safetynet,
im unsure why you dont have the hidden menu stuff, 6.5 phh should.
update to that and see if its any better.
we may need to get people to backup their radio and see what ones work better.
im on the oldest radio
I made a mistake. I was going to install F but ended up going with J.
6.5 PHH is all downloaded. I'll give it a try.
Thank You very much.
Can u check which version has the stuff to manually program 6.5 phh when i search and find iot.cdmasetting and hit launch in shortcut master it does nothing...
Edit
Nevermind the 6.5 isn't rooted to begin with...I had
A 6.01 back up that works fine

? both 6.5 versions have root, you must be dirty flashing or doing something else.
2 versions of 6.5 bud.
phh root witch is built into magisk,
and supersu root witch is a seperate app.
5.5 and 6.5 both are exactly the same, minus using magisk manager.
I didn't download phh app but it wouldn't request root on 6.5 so I just used a back up

Didn't need any apps. Its built into magisk for root.
Thats the build im using as my daily. Root takes a min to setup as the 1st 15min after boot its still optimizing and doing commands.
Im 100% sure the no calls and text bug comes from using a aosp rom and changing nv info. Knocked me off service all day and didnt know.
Lost my ptn and my msid
Also got hit with a error code 16 and had to speak to the networks solution dept.
Maybe a tad bit more help...
I followed every step the only issue I've noticed is I can now make calls but only when I turn roaming on. If I just connect to the sprint network I get data but it says mobile network unavailable when trying to make a call. Any ideas?

I have PRL 162. It's odd because I only receive calls and can make them if set to roaming. If I'm set to roaming to make calls I can't update PRL only when connected to just LTE

Thats why, try a update prl and see if it changes. Do it on wifi if it dosnt work try on lte/3g
162 is not a sprint prl
you need PRL 54022 or 54xxx
any version really 54 whatever will work.
if prl update wont change it the only other idea would be
##diag# put into diag mode and use a tool like cdma workshop or similar to push the prl to your phone.
[email protected] is my hangouts email. We can speak more about this but talking about NV items and the tools that work with them
is a grey area on xda. I can not share my version of cdma workshop as its a paid for version linked only to my pc. There are free versions and tutorials out there on how to connect to a phone in diag mode and use cdma workshop or any other es tool to do the prl push
