On my captivate there are four apps on the bottom of all home screens: Phone, Email, Browser, and Apps.
Any way I can change it? It doesnt seem to be accessible/customizable.
I havent found a way yet either....so doesn't seem possible.

Yep, I figured it out. Follow this:
1. From the Home screen select "Applications"
2. Menu> View Type> Customizable Grid
3. Menu> Edit
You can now slide any App down to the bottom dock. You can even change it back to "Alphabetical Grid" and it will still save the Apps on the dock.
thank you sir!

Is anyone having success with Launcher Pro replacing touchwhiz?
I really prefer launcher pro over touchwiz. Are you asking how to change the buttons on the dock in launcher pro? If so, just hold down one of the little +'s until the menu opens up and go from there.
on a related note, is there a way to remove the different pre-loaded AT&T applications from the phone? there are a number that seem useless given other apps out there that do the same thing but better, but i canĀ“t seem to figure out how to delete them.
keep your finger on the icon you want to move a second longer than normal (if you have your phone on vibrate, it will buzz) then you can move them around the screen as many or as much as you like. You can also drag them into a bin which will appear in the bottom of the screen. This action doesn't delete the app or icon, it just reappears in the apps page. Very easy but took me ages to work it out. So simple. Have fun
Hello guuys,
I just bought LauncherPro and i can't figure out how to solve my problem:
As you know, we can add programs simply by clicking the "+" symbol. 3edit dock shortcut" will pop up and let you choose between cahnge shortcut, change icon, and swipe gesture action.
I'm trying to get back the "+" symbol from the dock, but still don't know how to do it. I've the LauncherPro icon option, or the custom one, but can't find the default "+" icon.
Hope you can help me guys, i'm gonna be maaaaaaaaad!
Cheers.
Press and hold one of the icons in the dock until it appears.
Thanks for your reply. But i think you misunderstood. I know how to edit my icon/shortcut. My issue is that i can't find any "+" icon.

As far as I know, they are only there until you replace them with something else. No way to re-add them for re-use.

Yeah you can't them back once you overwrite it. If you want the icon itself try decompiling the apk and looking in the res folder. Otherwise LPP has support for scrollable docks (just swipe the dock to the right/left) so check the other two if you just want the look of it
Thanks for your answers guys.
I unrar the apk and found the icon i was looking for.
You can find it in the attached file.
Hey guys, does anybody know the location for the stock touchwiz icons. For example i am using the apex launcher and i would like to use dolphin browser as my default browser in the dock on the main screen. However i would like to keep the stock internet icon. I know you can change the icon for the shortcut i just have no idea where it is. Any ideas?

I don't believe there is any way to get at them strictly via the file explorer. However, if you download one of the the TouchWiz ROMs on here, you can extract the icons from there and just copy them over to your phone. I believe they're in the framework apk, which you can extract with 7zip or what have you, but I'm not in a position to check right now (not supposed to download random stuff like that on my work computer).
Well the stock Internet apk is located in two files: /system/app/SecBrowser_VZW.apk and system/app/Sec_BrowserVZW.apk.odex
I'm thinking the icon would be in that directory. To be safe, I'd actually download a stock rom and pull the app from there and mess with it. I wouldn't pull it from your current phone just in case you messed something up.

Here is a link to a tutorial I wrote on editing .9.png files. It's part 2 of 3 but the most directly aapplicable to what you are trying to do.
It links up with the other two parts at the top of the post, so if you need to catch up on using some of the tools from part 1, it's right there.
SOLVED
SlimSnoopOS - Exactly where you said they would be. Followed your instructions and downloaded a TW ROM from XDA. One question though. when i get into SecBrowser_VZW.apk i see that there is a couple different versions of the icon. Would it be best for me to always try and grab the highest resolution one that i can find.
Jarredw - Amazing. Thank you.
Blue6IX - If i understand this correctly, with this guide i can edit the icon from within the apk itself so i don't have to use a custom icon with APEX Launcher? If so that is awesome, im just wondering if it would affect updating of the app?
You'd have to re-add the icon and recompile the .apk file each time it updated.
I mostly threw it here so you could learn how to extract the icon, which someone else did for you while I was typing it up.
Anyways, now you can freely edit icons for any apps you have on the device, at the very least extract all the ones you want to keep around.
Ya, that's what i figured. Thank you.

It makes homescreen icons with a custom image or icons from other apps. Can't believe nobody here heard of this. Its how most people theme their homescreen.

Most launchers have that function built in. That's probably why nobody has heard of it.

Anyone who was hoping to be able to use the new launcher (such as myself) will be happy to know that you can! It appears that the option is there in the 4.2 OTA update, it is just hidden from the settings menu. I assume that Asus are probably still working on it and will release it in a future update.
The only modification I made to Droid-Eye's method was to simply use a setting shortcut widget rather than an entire launcher option such as ADW.
I used 'Secure Settings' from Google Play, which is free. Please bear in mind you also need an Ipack for an icon for your shortcut. Luckily Secure Settings has a handy link to download free ones from Google Play when you are setting up your shortcut.
I hope it helps anyone desperte to try out the new launcher style. It seems many people hate the new launcher, and I'll admit that I did myself the first time I saw it. However, it has grown on me and I'm going to give it a run to see if I like it over the old style. I can always change back...for the moment anyway.
Note: There is no need to be rooted or unlocked to do this. You can always change back to previous launcher by setting up another shortcut widget in the new style launcher. Your tablet will need to restart to make the change, that is normal.
Screenshots.
As Droid-Eye correctly pointed out, the home soft button doesn't line up with the app draw button. I haven't found any other bugs yet.

The instructions worked well for me. So far I keep looking for the buttons in the wrong place. But overall the tablet seems snappier with this launcher. I also do like that the notifications shows across the top so you can see a lot more of the text.

Good looking out
I didn't even think about giving this its own thread. Hopefully, more people will consider trying the new layout now instead of just sticking with the status quo. I know not everyone will prefer them but it's always better to have the choice (I mean, this is Android after all).
Thanks for the credit.

Thanks, man. I've been playing around in the activities shortcuts since I first got my brand new (at the time) Moto Droid with 2.0.1(to give you a time frame). I've found all kinds of cool stuff that way and it's nice finding solutions that don't require root once in a while. I highly recommend combing through the system activities if only just to see if there's anything hiding, waiting for a later update. This is how I found Face Unlock before they were ready to give it to us, too (though it took some interesting hoop jumping to get it to actually work). Also how I found the stock android dialer so I could try it wwith different SIP clients (still a work in progress).
Anyway, dig through the activities. Guaranteed you'll find something to play with in there.

Maybe check the tf300 threads (since they're the only other ones with this ability) and see if anyone's found a workaround for it. If it's happening for them too and there isn't a fix, I'm sure GMD will want to know about it so it can be fixed before the rest of the tf700 and tf201 communities run into it. Either way, keep the shortcut handy and you can always toggle back whenever they update the app.

The setting is there, just the Secure Settings tool is less than intuitive. Keep looking around at the tool. I had to look at the sample picture in the second post several times before I figured out what it was showing. I'll post instructions later in the evening when I have time if no one else does.

After you have selected to create a widget using secure settings, pick an app, wait, and select settings. Next, you can click the .settings textfield. That will bring up a long list where you have to pick the .settings#launcherSwitchSettingsActivity. (Almost at the end of the list) Save.
Give the shortcut an appropriate name, pick an icon, and save the shortcut.
Just install Nova launcher.

Back of of Secure Settings and go to your Home screen. Go into the app drawer and tap the Widgets tab. Find the Secure Settings widget and long-press to add to your Home screen. Then, follow the rest of the directions.

Very nice! Thanks.
One of my favorite features on stock lollipop was the Samsung live weather lockscreen. It seems this was lost in Marshmallow. Does anyone know how to install it? I would greatly appreciate the help.
I would love to know this as well
Same thing happened to me yesterday after the Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. No more live weather option on the lock screen.
Same here. It seems they've removed it completely. It was my favorite too.
...
I've been looking for a way to get this back or some suitable replacement for this feature and can't find either.
Anyone got any ideas?

Yes, Ive been using it for a while. You need to download the Samsung Good Lock lock screen , It will actually change your UI. . Then enable it, it will give you an option to either use a widget or a stock clock, select either your own weather / time widget or the stock Samsung widget. I use XWidget . then once finished setting your widget before clicking finish, hit the little edit icon to the right of the widget you selected and click the button to "Enable to access the secured lock screen" otherwise it wont update, then click save.
