Idol 3 4.7" CM - Onetouch Idol 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody,
I currently own a Moto G 4G 2014 and have the opportunity to exchange that for an Idol 3 4.7". I live in the EU so ID would be 6039Y from my understanding.
The key prerequisite would be to be able to install CM on the device - I've seen the CM team hint at adding Idol 3 to their supported devices list but no precision whatsoever on which Idol 3 they were talking about. And since everyone here seems to consider 5.5" version when talking about the phone I'm a bit doubtful if the 4.7" version will ever get as much traction.
Is there any other info I should be aware of that supports (or go against) CM on the Idol 3 4.7" ? If not, what is xda opinion on the topic ? If not CM, I can imagine some other custom ROM being ported to Idol 3 4.7" , right ?
Thank you very much !

Too early to say which versions will be supported. There are several different versions even within the 5.5 or 4.7 tier, we'll just have to wait and see.

There's already a Thread in regrds of CM for Idol 3!
Why create another thread and clutter the forums?
Post and ask questions in that thread instead lol

4.7" and 5.5" models have different hardware.

See title explicitly stating the 4.7" model.
This model and its bigger bro look the same but have totally different hardware. So thats your why.
It's an handsome phone, I like it al lot. But... I am also a CM fan for the freedom it gives me.
Every body should be allowed to install their OS and functions of choise.
Renault does not tell me what people are allowed in my car, nor does it tell me where to fill it up with what brand of gaz or were to go having me done it's maintenance ...
Same should apply for phone's, computer's, microwaves and Chiwawa's.

Oppo 5 development

I want an Oppo 5, and I want it bad. 5 Inch 1080p screen, 12MP camera, 2GB of ram, quad core processor (microSD support? idk). BUT I really need to know there will be development for it. Is rom development from the CM team or any other big names even plausible considering the device is Chinese?
Oppo is not Chinese but Thai. I want the Find(er) 5 as well. It is the very best Android phone at the moment so as far as I'm concerned there will be a lot of people who want this awesome thing, lets hope there will be a very own development forum for it soon!
http://oppothai.com/ they release beta and official software and have build-in navbar en lockscreen tweaks (for Oppo 3 and 4), so not only their hardware is bad ass!
Anyone keep posted if you know where to order one!
The only thing I'm waiting for to buy this phone is to know if there will be community suporting it (Ciano, muiu,...)

[Q] Some questions on the Galaxy SII Plus

241871833
Hi all,
Sorry if this isn't the thread to post to, but I came accross this thread and feels like this is the place to post any SII Plus questions, correct if I'm doing something wrong.
I just bought a Samsung GS II Plus. Opinions, was it a good buy? I bought it for €179,99, as my budget was a bit tight. But there are several quad core available right now, especially the Wiko, which seem really nice.
I decided based on screen size (5" just feels huge!) and internal storage space (8Gb, 4 available to the user, which is quite disappointing). And of course, the price, which seemed like a good one, altough the specs aren't the most recent ones.
After buying it, used with Android ver 4.1.2 for a whole day and upgraded it to 4.2.2 as it was available.
Q1: What happened to the bubble lockscreen notifications with this update? They were replaced by a new kind of notifications that have absolutely no functionality at all.
Q2: Is it possible to have the bubble notifications back?
Q3: Will a Kitkat release be available to this phone?
Any answers you might provide are welcome.
TIA

You can change the lockscreen effect from the settings About the kitkat-you can try some custom roms bcoz i'm not really sure that we will receive official Kitkat
It's not the effect, but the notifications for unread SMS ans missed calls.

Kolina K100+ Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=of5vgp2XS6Q
Tell us some more details about it.
Does it really have NFC?
Does it has CE Label somewhere (Phone or Package)?
Available space left?
Which bluetooth version is there really? 3 or4?
What is inside the package?
Notification LED?
Backlit on Softkeys ?
Do you have other phones with FHD Screen to compare?
I'm interested in this phone.
Can it be upgraded to Android Lollipop? (by any means necessary?)
As far as I read the very few reviews and details of this phone available in the net the only problem I see with it is that it has a very old version of Android installed.
If it can be updated to the latest android version (In my unprofessional opinion I think the phone specs can well handle it) then it would be perfect for simple users like me.
Does anyone have steps on how to update the operating system on this phone?
I really think it has some decent hardware specs and good price.
If it gets updated to a more recent android version it would be nice.
All specs are fantastic.
The most important thing for me is if it will get update to KK (Lollipop is out of the question) and if GPS is locking satellites fast, cause most chinese phones have problem with that matter.
Unbox/Comparison
Found this review on youtube, posted by a reviewer by the username 'mayiandjay'.
Jay unboxes the Kolina 100+, however still waiting on his actual review, but I've been interested in getting this phone too. A few things to be aware of that he mentions is that some these specs may be faked, (i.e. front camera megapixels).
you can see the unbox review here:

You don't buy a phone only because it's cheap.
Having old OS or don't knowing if there will be support for custom recovery and Rom is a deal breaker.

Exactly! Given I'm a flashaholic myself :highfive: That's why I'm asking whether it's possible to get custom recovery installed Still I can see this device being perfect for someone like my girlfriend who doesn't appreciate all the custom roms and mods I'm doing for her nexus 4 :silly:

A very big review here.

I just need instructions on how I can install stock Kitkat or lollipop on this phone.
Because out of all the specs, the display brightness and operating system version is the only thing I see that may turn me off from purchasing.

I found a site which offers the k100+ offers a pre-install of some "rom" (etotalk mod rom???)
I have no idea what it is... but doesn't this mean it's possible to install stock android kitkat(or lollipop on this thing? )

Ok found the product page from Etotalk.
Don't pay attention to them.
Since there is still no official 4.4 version out, there is no way that Etotalk can offer a better Rom.
I only hope that soon there will be the official release.

What I was hoping for is that since etotalk seems to have a way of installing their own rom, shouldn't someone be able to install stock android on the device? (or does that how it works?)
It looks like the brightness on the Kolina K100 (170$) is not so great. Therefore I'm doubting between this one and Cubot X9 (140$)
or perhaps I will wait for the Dakele 3 (270$)

Yu Yureka Phones, similar to Idol 3 5.5?

Hi all,
While looking for a rom to flash on my Idol, I found one guy comparing the Idol 3 5.5 to the Yu Yureka Plus phones.
Seems they are similar.
http://www.gsmarena.com/yu_yureka_plus-7436.php
Maybe another device to follow-up and port from?

Dear lord, they are pretty much identical! O.O
I think that we won't need to do MUCH to port ROMs from the Yureka Plus.
Hopefully one of the two devs we have will try to mix something up. xD
Sent from my 6045K using XDA Forums Pro.
They are totally different phones

I dont mean to be rude, but are you OK?
Exact same CPU,same clockspeed, same amount of RAM,same camera module.
The only possible difference(software-wise) can be the partition tables.

Chipsets are the same but both front and back cameras are different, no dual band wifi, no stereo speakers, no NFC, CDMA, different LTE bands. Its a copy, not a clone.

I over-exaggerated.
I never thought they were identical, but at least in the past, same CPU,camera and RAM were things needed in order to port a rom to another device, other things would be patched up.
I think it would be much easier to try porting a rom for that device and patch some things up than making a rom out of scratch with only 3 devs working for the Idol 3.

Yes, I see what you are saying. It would be a good starting point. I think only the lens configuration is different on the rear cam.

I didn't want to be rude at all, may be the message was misleading.
When I compare identical phone, I think in terms of whether the rom of one phone can be used, after some tweaks, in another phone that you are comparing.
Otherwise, many phones share some level commonless.
Eg. Umi Emax mini and idol 3 5.5 are quite similar except screen size. Look at their rom... they are nearly identical

I know. I was being dramatic.
But it is much easier to port a rom from a device with same CPU and other parts(plus patching some things up) than making a rom out of scratch.

Question this phone will have many custom rom/ development?

Hi, I like the phone but also I want to put some tweaks like 90hz display, custom roms, pixel 6 camera features(motion mode), kernels...
will we see a lot of development as in the xiaomi poco f1 or not?
thank you
If you have a Xaomi, i recommend keeping it a little longer. Roms for this devive are in a weird situation because the only 2 stable ones are calyx and graphene which arevboth great, but they are both very barebones and kind of difficult if you aren't experienced with degoogling

Yes, adding Bluejay is possible. Whether developers choose to do it is another question.
Velocity will be ready for public release soon. I'm just buttoning up a few more things.
I noticed with the phones I've own, custom ROM seem to get me frequent as the phone gets older and the stock rom releases begin to vaporize. If the phone has enuff hardware power n memory AND there's no more factory support (as in many older midrange Motos). The Moto G5+ and G5S+ had active 'post' communities as did the G6...I got a G7 cuz of 4gb memory figured it'd be a big post EOL project/rom phone BUT I missed the fact that moto was following google with the whole dynamic update w/ dual A/B slots which killed our beloved TWRP custom recovery and nandrive image backup.
BUT is u weren't into rooting/tweaking then that explains why Android Police named it the #1 phone for running LOS! Esp. after Moto released thr Android 10 kernel source code!! This is the main reason I didn't sell/trade it off...and ofc my wife put one of those sky-blue 2pc cases from Poetic and claimed it! lol
