Hello, I recently did a clean install of sultanxda's CM12.1 ROM running version 12.1-YOG7D-20151220-STABLE-Sultan-bacon and I'm having a problem where most themes I try to install don't work, they just uninstall themselves and I get a notification saying "(Name of theme) failed to install." For some reason, certain themes work and certain ones don't, and I don't know what makes them that way. For example the Aquamarine theme from the play store works but the PitchBlack one does not, and the Smartfren theme from the CyanogenOS Theme store works but the Hexo theme does not. I've done things such as rebooting and wiping dalvik/cache to no avail. This problem is getting pretty annoying so any help is really appreciated.
Thanks
Hi all!
I have a problem with the theme-chooser in COS 13, whenever I try to switch themes now, trebuchet crashes :/
I'm currently on the standard theme (not the hexo theme) switching from the hexo theme to this worked fine, but switching back doesn't work at all...
Same issue, with Nova Launcher too.
The problem seems to be with icons set: whenever I try to change system icons from System Theme set, to another, Launcher goes in FC loop.

Tried it now, no succes
Same problem here..
Same problem, even custom fonts are not loading properly, can anyone zip me cos13 fonts from root explorer and send me
its too much buggy,,and random crashes makes device to do a force reboot!!!
clean FastBoot flashed this rom with Stock COS recovery. no issue at all, except theme chooser lag when swiping left/right. but that is fine with me.
Today Cyanogen released a new OTA that solves some issues.
The theme-chooser issue is now solved.

If you've used Android N-ify with Good Lock, you will have known that there's an annoying bug, that the Good Lock settings icon overlaps the alarm section when the Quick Settings is expanded.
This will fix that, and fix up a few things in Good Lock to match AOSP/Google Pixel visuals
Screenshots in attachments.
Should be supported on any Samsung device on a Touchwiz-based 6.0/6.0.1 Marshmallow ROM (7.0 Nougat or newer is unsupported, you can use this Substratum theme instead which makes your SystemUI more AOSP-like!)
Will update this modified Good Lock accordingly as Good Lock itself recieves updates as well.
Changelog
v2
IMPORTANT: you must go and follow this, even if you already installed the previous version, just this one time. Added proper install instructions in the OP, shouldn't have any issues with installing now (read below)
Removed charging/wireless charging water splash animations
Changed default lockscreen wallpaper to stock Google Pixel wallpaper
v1
Removed Good Lock settings icon in quick settings header, to not overlap alarm icon in Android N-ify's quick settings header (still clickable where it was to access Good Lock settings)
Changed auto brightness icon in quick settings header to AOSP style
Changed screenshot notification icon to AOSP style
Changed Good Lock app icon to AOSP Nougat's SystemUI icon
Install instructions
If you are using stock Good Lock, or if you are on the first release of the modified Good Lock, follow the instructions ahead. If you haven't installed any Good Lock, skip to Step 4. Otherwise, if you're on v2 or later of modified Good Lock, and are just updating, skip to Step 6
Disable Android N-ify and GravityBox in Xposed Installer, and reboot
Uninstall Good Lock normally from the app (optional: backup Good Lock data)
Go to /data/app/ in your favourite root file manager, and delete any "com.android.systemui-#" folders (# is substituted with a number)
Install stock Good Lock again
Flash the modified Good Lock zip in TWRP
Enable Android N-ify and GravityBox
Enjoy (optional: restore Good Lock data)
Download
Realy great, works a lot better. Thank you mate. :good:
Great work bro
It doesn't seem to get installed when I flash it, I tried with and without Good Lock installed but it had the same effect. S7 Flat on Superman Rom 1.19

Yes, the ZIP does not work if you try to flash it before installing GoodLock and N-ify. It is recommended that you wipe and reflash the system partition after uninstalling N-ify and GoodLock, and then install GoodLock and N-ify -> reboot once -> flash the ZIP through recovery.
New update!

Follow the new install instructions, it should work now.
Is it possible to for the QS panel to be bluish-greyish, like on AOSP?
Since right now, it is completely black.

Yes it is.
In Good Lock routines editor, on the section where you pick theme colours, you can try and pick the blue-greyish colour for the first hexagon to the left, then your QS panel background colour will be set accordingly.

Thanks, I haven't installed your modified Good Lock yet on my father's phone (I don't use TouchWiz, however I was unable for some reason to boot CM12.1 on his phone (when there will be enough time, I will try CM13, or whatever will exist then)) since I thought that the colors will be too jarring for him.
When I'll have time, I'll install your modified Good Lock on his phone.
Is there a way to get a gap between the notifications?

Hello,
First of all, thanks for the mod! Developpers like you are great, and add something to the community! Thanks.
Getting to the question. I know it may sound stupid, but this is supposed to make Good Lock work with Android N-ify. But I don't know when I should instal android n-ify. Should I install Good Lock (fresh install), flash your GoodLock v2 zip, and then install Android N-ify module through Xposed? Or do I not need to install the Android N-ify module?
Thanks in advance for the clarification. Cheers!

Well thanks for the answer.
I followed the procedure, installed Good Lock, then flashed your zip, then installed Android N-ify 0.2 and Gravity Box, but the navigation panel still looks like the original Good Lock panel (I don't see neither Android N-ify effect, nor your Good Lock).
Don't know what I did wrong, but too bad for me.
Thanks for the help anyway !

N-ify 0.2 on the xposed repo is really old, you want the latest build from https://ci.paphonb.xyz/jenkins/job/AndroidN-ify/
Also if installing my good lock made no difference, manually copy out the base.apk from the zip into /data/app/com.android.systemui-1, give -rw-r-r permissions and reboot

I tried as well, but it seems I can't get Android N-ify to work on my S7 Edge. It probably isn't related to your mod.
Thanks for the help! :good:

The same thing happens to me when I use the latest version of N-ify from jenkins. However it doesn't do the same with version 0.20 from xposed, but It doesn't look as good as the screenshots in the OP.

substratum doesn't supported by lenovo p2 stock rom.
So use it at your own risks.!!
Reflash stock rom if you facing problems this is only way to get rid of installed theme.

Yes ! themes are working but use at your own risk.. It can brick your device. Bcz stock roms doesn't support OMS. And will modify system stock files. And if anything goes wrong your device might brick/stuck at boot logo.
Sorry for bad English.:good:

The best thing to do is to keep a twrp dackup. If anything goes wrong, install stock deodexed ROM and restore back up.
I did had a few issues at first. But the phone will definately not get hard bricked.
If you know to use substratum properly, then you'll find 2 flashable zips inside the substratum folder. One of which can be used to restore the theme to factory settings
Only apps that will work is Playstore, Android Message App if you want a dark messaging background, Whatsapp, and Youtube. Everything else, no cause it is not Stock Android Apps; including settings. I used Swift Black Theme. Any other app can possibly work if it's on the list to theme it over.. If it doesn't, it' will say so or if the app fc.. Just go to the Overlay List and erase the App that is not working properly. Once your done, reboot and it will take effect.

True, usually that is used if you are doing OTA and the System UI crashes. It does help to get out of that situation when flashing the Substratum Recovery.

Loneelutes most substrate overlays will work. But notification text may get blacked out some time. Pitch black theme would do better in all aspects. All of its overlays worked for me.
I too had pretty bad experiences on stock ROM with substratum..
I use swift black (paid) in custom roms ..but on stock ROM ,I can't even update theme ..
Once if theme gets applied ,we can't change ..
System refuses to change .. and gives me bootloops..
So ..I just apply themes only to Apps but not system files ..
Even though some apps FC when they are updated from playstore , they can be troubleshooted easily ..
Warning : don't change system ui , pixel launcher ..
Things I change :
1) WhatsApp
2) navbar
I don't open others much ..so I don't care about them to be themed ..

Havent had issues with Swift Black..... So just test them, if it doesn't work.. Just go to the overlay list, erase and reboot. It's all about trial and error. Subtratum theme works on whatever app is listed for each theme.. When updating, you have to apply and reboot.. If that doesn't work.. Erase the apps that is themed in the overlay list and then reboot.. Apply the theme as if you are dling it for the first time and reboot again.
It's a bit tedious but that's Lenovo Stock for you. You can try Youtube and Google Playstore too.. And if you want messaging to have a black theme too.. Try Android Messaging app, Swift Black works on that app.

What's Android version should I pick when I apply the theme??
depends iff you are on a custom rom then its oms and iff on stock rom then experimental although the themeing isnt as good as oms it is still acceptable and does theme most apps.
Sup, new to XDA..and also new to Substratum..just a few questions if u guys don't mind-
i am currently using the swift pitch black overlays, is it true that when overlayed apps get an update that u have to uninstall that overlay, reboot, update app then reinstall that app for that specific version? i read abt it, not sure how true it is..just trying to play it safe.
also, when Oreo launches for the Note 8, which is the device i am running will having these overlays effect anything? really trying to avoid a hard reset and/or brick.
thanks n advance for any input. ??

For the first question: you can simply update the app and try to open it. If it keeps crashing, Substratum will automatically deactivate the corresponding overlay and you should be able to launch the app. If the overlay is deactivated, uninstall it (the overlay) using Substratum and try building and applying it again. If you get an error while building the overlay, you'll know the theme needs to be updated. Check your sources for a new version and install the new version. Then simply build and apply the new overlay for the app and enjoy
As for the second question, I'm afraid I don't know anything about that since I'm using a ROM with OMS commits and always prefer a clean flash. I really hope someone else is able to answer that question.
And I've got a question for everyone as well... Does the contextual profile switching actually work? I've tried it and it only switched out half of the theme... Do I have to wait longer for it to fully switch themes or is it simply not working? The themes I'm trying to switch between are Belo (during daytime) and Mono/Art (during nighttime).
