[Q]Unknown Volume for path [ext-sd] (Need attention!) - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all, I am sorry for making new thread. But it seems that I've tried searching everywhere for the solution but I couldn't find any.
Here is my problem,
Last few month, I flashed my P3100 to OmniRom. It works perfectly!
But for a past few weeks, I got gapps suddenly stopped working. As I know what to do, I reset my P3100 by wiping all data using Philz recovery.
And then it worked fine again.
Unfortunately, for last three days. It happened again.
So I repeated the same whole thing as I did again.
The problem is, when I tried to reset all data, it won't work. I mean, it looked like I didn't reset anything. Thus, my tablet keeps on showing this message such as gapps has stopped.
I tried to download new ROM. And flashed it via Philz recovery. But it's not working. It remain the same as if nothing happened. I'm still haven't sleep for 3 days looking for a solution. Would somebody here help me? As I really really need to know what is happening with it.
Solutions I've tried but failed:
1- Wipe all data but failed as it looked like nothing happened.
2- Wipe everything everywhere but still remain still
3- Flashing stock rom via Odin but failed.
4- Flashing another version of recovery via Odin but failed
P/S: I've noticed that E:Unknown volume for path [EXT-SD] when I'm doing full wipe.

No one can help me?

[Q] Can't factory reset, gives strange error in CWM

I have a US Verizon launch day Xoom that has been rooted since day one. It has been trouble free until now. I recently attempted to upgrade to 2.1 Hammerhead from MantaRay and I got this error in CWM verTiamat R4c-100611 while I was doing a factory/data reset "Error Removing /data/data/com.google.android.location/file/cache.wifi."
I noticed the error but rebooted the system anyway. When I rebooted I was now on Hammerhead 2.1, but noticed several problems. One being I lost function in the Home softkey. I also noticed all my apps and data were still intact as I left them on MantaRay. I like to start fresh with a factory/data reset whenever changing roms to avoid issues so I went back and attempted another wipe and flash of Hammerhead. I got the same error in CWM verTiamat R4c-100611. I rebooted to the same problems in the ROM.
Thinking it might be a problem with the recovery, I reflashed CWM verTiamat R4c-100611, flashed Team Rouges CWM v1.0, and finally reverted back to CWM verSolarnz 120511-2030, and got the same error every time I would attempt a factory/data reset.
I then attempted to do a factory/data reset from within the privacy menu in the ROM. I got the screen with the android and the triangle/exclamation point overhead when I tried. I also unistalled a few apps and cleared data on the google ones. No matter what I do I can not erase the data.
I did some searching around but could not find any info on this specific error. Im hoping I missing something and it is an easy fix. I'm running out of ideas tho. Any advice would be much appreciated!
Pic is of the error message I get no matter what recovery I use.

That is strange and troubling, if indeed this problem just came out of nowhere. I know that you can wipe data in fastboot, though I can't remember the exact syntax right now, but it should be available.
On edit: try: fastboot erase userdata. & fastboot erase cache
I think you do need to wipe/factory reset between Manta Ray and Hammerhead as the framework was changed/fixed, among other things.
Thanks Okantomi! Your advice worked perfect.

[Q] Wifi XOOM 3.2 boot loop help!

First off, I have done a search and read dozens of threads, none of which solved my problem...
I have a wifi xoom, which I rooted many months ago without any problems. Recently updated to 3.2 like a month ago or so. I have not made ANY changes within the last month, and the tablet has been working perfectly.
A few days ago, I left the tablet to charge. Once charging was complete, I turned it on and its stuck on the boot animation. I just keeps playing over and over again, I've let it sit for 10+ minutes, with nothing happening...
I tried removing the SD card then rebooting, and its the same result....
Please help! If need be, I can go back and look up all the exact steps I've done to root and get it to where it is today. Like I said though, it has been working perfectly, and I have not made any new changes in at least a month... I don't see why this would happen all of a sudden...
Have you tried to reinstall firmware?
Regards.

No need to panic.
When you rooted, did you install CWM Recovery, and if so, do you have a recent nandroid backup? Have you tried rebooting into recovery?
What steps have you followed to get out of your bootloop?
Yes, I have Clockword Mod Recovery 3.2.0.0 R4c 100611-1150
Upon attempting a restore everything appears to work properly until the end when it gets to restoring data, I get an error, regardless of which restore image I use(I tried all the ones I have). It reads as follows:
"Restoring data...
Error removing /data/data/com.noshufou.android.su/cacheError while formatting /data!"
I also attempted a clean wipe/factory reset with similar unsuccessful results. I get an error during formatting data, which reads:
"Formatting /data...
Error removing /data/data/com.noshufou.android.su/cacheFormatting /cache..."
The rest of the formatting appears to run successful for /sd-ext and /sdcard
Have you manually tried to format the system, cache and data? This can be done from the advanced menu.

Can you please provide me with more detailed instructions?
From the advanced menu I see:
Reboot Recovery
Wipe Dalvik Cache
Wipe Battery Stats
Report Error
Key Test
Partition SD Card
Fix Permissions
Sorry, we're forgot talking about Cwm. It's under mounts and storage.
Still the same result as before... I went to mounts and storage > format /data
"Formatting /data...
Error removing /data/data/com.noshufou.android.su/cacheError formatting /data!"
Try format system first then data and cache.
My suggestion would be to go back to stock and then re-root. You can find the stock download on the Moto Dev home page.
+1. Restocking link. MOTODEV > Produ / Software http:/.ly/sQtpKQ bit cts > Device. Then use universal root method reroot.

Thanks everyone! I was hoping I would be able to fix it without going back to stock, but since I was unable to I just went that route.
Going stock worked, and I am back to where I was before, so thank you for the advice! In case anyone else may have this problem, this is what I did:
Went back to stock using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049485
Then rooted using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242241
Then got back to 3.2.1 using this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1278214

[Q] I've tried everything and looked everywhere

Hey everyone, I'm using a GT-P5100 (3G + Wifi) O2 UK rooted tablet and for the last month it has been broken. It started rebooting itself randomly every now and then, and then suddenly it wouldn't even boot up for 15 seconds before it would restart itself again.
I am able to get into safe mode and I can get into the boot options, but when I factory reset it does nothing, I've tried from the boot menu, from safe-mode options and even from the dial up code.
I tried to connect my tablet to my PC as a media device and format it but that didn't work either; I can't connect it as a disk then format it that way because they took out 'mass storage mode' on this firmware.
I then tried to flash a stock ROM in Odin but every time I tried it would fail until I used Odin.v1.3, but guess what, it rebooted itself and my entire tablet is still exactly the same.
(the option was on AP ram in v1.3 not AP nand I don't know if that makes a difference.)
If anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it so much. I have been trying for weeks to fix this and I just don't know what to do anymore, I tried on another forum but nobody answered me.
Everyone else gets replies and I get zilch; amazing. I don't know what it is that is preventing my tablet from wiping itself but it refuses to clear the current data no matter what way I try (ROM, factory reset, computer format). If someone could just tell me what that is and what I have to do about it that would be grand.
You mention "rooted " but you don't mention what current rom or past roms that you may have flashed, you could have some sort of rom cluster [email protected]$k going on in your tab but NO one else will ever be able to help because of lack of INFO or history.
Pp.
I standard rooted it from Odin. This is my first ROM I am trying to flash. I just need to know what would prevent a tablet from rebooting itself properly. Factory reset, format and flash is not working so I must assume that rebooting is the issue here.
If you are running stock rooted rom and having issues like this the only way out is reflashing the stock firmware complete (not just a rom) and see if that fixes it before you try any other roms.
If you can get into download mode thats the fix.
Pp.
To flash it completely do I need more than an MD5 file? (I also have the partition file for my model). Another question, if the tablet is having issues with the reboot after a flash, will updating from a microSD with a zip help? Thanks for the advice.

Problem with BlissPop: Stuck at "BlissPop is starting..."

Hello to everyone, posting this here as I don't have access to ask in the forum post for BlissPop - I.E fresh user
I'm having issues with my "recalled" shield tablet (wifi), I had it flashed to BlissPop successfully previously but when I tried reflashing it the other day I was met with a major roadbump: It just won't load the ROM.
The tablet freezes at the screen following the installing and optimization of each application - basically my screen is stuck at a small wall of text saying the following:
"BlissPop is starting...
Powered by Team Bliss
Starting apps.
Please wait for the optimization process to finish."
And before you ask, yes I have waited long enough (left it on through the night just to be sure - this thing won't load).
My procedure is as follows.
Bootloader is CWM and it is rooted beforehand.
1st off going into recovery mode.
#2 Wipe data/cache/dalvik cache - done
#3 Installed BlissPop via sideload, then gapps_pico afterwards (I've tried wiping cache+dalvik before installing gapps to no help.)
#4 Rebooting from CWM, here I've tried both allowing and denying CWM to "fix" root settings.
I've tried the first ROM I installed (when wifi/lte versions were available) and the newer releases - same problem with both.
After this I am met with this screen that won't budge, anyone got a possible solution to this issue?
Hey I just received my replacement tablet and was going through this process too. I did some digging around and found / remembered that having an external SD card socketed can cause this problem. So I powered my device off, removed the card and then rebooted without major issue.
Hope this helps.
I don't have any SD card in my tablet though, thanks anyways.
Did you format system?
If not then do format system/data/cache

Tried doing a format of system as well as data/cache/dalvik, still getting same result :/
Not sure its still helpful or not...i saw the xda thread regarding to this thread and whoever tried to flash the last zip got stuck at boot. So I'm guessing if you will flash a different one (by this time maybe they upload a new one) maybe you could get rid of it..

When I switched to BlissPop I had to format /data because TWRP was unable to wipe it. TWRP offers that option unter "advanced wipe". Might be the same with CWM.
any help my phone stuck on this boot loop and i dont know what to do now , any fix ? i dont wanna have broken phone i did everything that u guys said nothing works

Really getting frustrated, I softbricked my device (i think)

Okay backstory time....
I have the Samsung Tab 3 Lite, T110 something and I decided to root it.
I used Odin to flash CWM and root it.
Well it was a bit laggy, so I installed this rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2780068
It worked for awhile.
Later on, SuperSU said it needed to be updated, so I clicked update and it restarted the entire device and I got stuck on CWM-based recovery v6.0.4.8 and everytime I tried to reboot it kept going back to this recovery screen.
Well I tried flashing it again.
No dice.
Then I tried flashing ANOTHER rom from a different device (which I didn't realize at the time) and I'm still stuck.
To make matters worse my laptop doesn't detect the device, though it makes the noise like it's connected.
Well it DOES detect it, but it calls it an unspecified SAMSUNG_ANDROID.
I've tried updating drivers, turning pc off and back on, letting tablet die and plugging it in, different cables, everything.
It also says this weird thing when I try factory resetting in CWM: E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Not a darn thing works.
I'm frustrated and I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place but I'm at my wits end.
Bro try flashing stock ROM or any other custom ROM meant for your device from you device's recovery. And wipe data and dalvik cache before doing this ,and this can be done from recovery
