Morning Guys
I'm wanting to root and install a custom recovery to enable flashing custom roms etc, on my UK Galaxy S6 running stock (G920FXXU2COH2) French Firmware. I know that I will trip knox and not be able to use Samsung pay when its available but I'm not so bothered about that.
What is the quickest and safest way of doing this now? Thanks for your time in helping

Hi all,
Hope I'm writing this in the correct forum, still working out what goes where..
PingPong Root is not yet (and possibly never available) for the G920IDVU1BOE3.
So... I have a S6 G920IDVU1BOE3 Vodafone Australia, if I were to flash a custom recovery bootloader and Stock rom, and root it the regular (CF Auto Root) way, and Knox trips.. what else would I expect?
Can the warranty and knox tripping is un-done by flashing a new Stock rom? Eg returned to original for warranty service? I won't use Knox, but might use the Samsung NFC Pay...
basically I want TitaniumBackup and AdFree back.. I can't stand adverts. But I do buy apps to get the adfree version if it's a good app and I make a lot of use from it.

You will need to flash back stock recovery in order to get ota updates.
Why do you need to trip knox??
you can root the S5 without tripping Knox!!

Even with the latest os 5.0?
I used to have an s4 and back then no one has found out a way to root it without tripping Knox and I'm not going to flash any custom rom. I just want the xposed framework and lucky patcher

You can flash back to kitkat and then upgrade with flashfire to stock rooted lollipop.

Really, and how is that done. I have an S5 on AT&T running 5.0, phone was replaced through warranty for a newer version of the S5.
Towelroot didn't even work on my phone when it was on 4.4.2 through 4.4.4
So if there is any that you know how to root my phone, please let me know because I've been looking for a working root since I obtained the phone.
I recently purchased a galaxy S6 (SM-920i) running Android 5.1.1 in the hope of rooting it and flashing it with a custom rom. I'm a novice at this, and have not been able to find a decent tutorial on this subject. I'm not concerned with tripping the knox counter by the way. Any help in this matter will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I did the following on mine (920F):
Get a kernel with root (Unikernel) and flash it via ODIN (since I did not wanted to flash a rom right away and that also comes with auto root).
Get the TWRP ODIN flashable .tar from http://twrp.me
Profit.
hi guys, since samsung s2 i dont use samsung mobile phones so its a long time
i bought a galaxy s6 and the original room is full of aplications i dont use, the ram avaible is a joke and the battery life isnt very good
i want to install a custom rom
im with the last ofical 5.1.1., if i install a custom rom i will loose right to waranty? there isnt any way of revert the root and count?
thanks
You can unroot the device and reflash the stock ROM, but you cannot revert the Knox counter. Whether or not you loose your warranty depends upon the laws in your country.
so its impossible for now to root, flash custom recovery and flash custom rom without activate the know counter?
Search for the engineering 5.0.2 bootloader. Unfortunately if you are on 5.1.1 already, then it is of no help.
I want to use this awesome ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-0-t3094423
I need to install TWRP. When I first got the phone, I learned that this was not possible with AT&T due to a locked bootloader. This still the case? I have been searching and I haven't found any tutorials or youtube videos specifically for AT&T Galaxy s6 -- is it the same process? I'm currently running Android 5.0.1 and I flashed a ROM with Flashfire (Ultra Light 1.8 by Rayman360) -- it's a great ROM but you can't do much since it's basically a de-bloat stock.
Can someone point me in the right direction for installing TWRP on the AT&T Galaxy s6?
I suspect I will need to do a full wipe here and then re-root with a different method.
I am familiar with Odin and TWRP, I have been using custom ROMs for years now.
I still think its not possible due to locked boot loader
