I have a Moto G 2013 with a unlocked bootloader. German Retail and the Android Version was 5.0.2. I hate the look of lollipop. Because of this reason i flashed the 4.4.2 KitKat version via fastboot. After flashing I stucked at the "Unlocking Bootloader Screen". Then i read in many forums, that you can't downgrade because the bootloader versions are differnt. Now I installed TWRP via fastboot and right now i am using cm12.1. While i am wipping this device the recovery says that he can't mount system and other partitions. After searching the Lollipop Stock Rom i flashed the Lollipop version and the same problem. I would return to Stock Rom.
Thanks for all answers

Hi all,
When I install a custom recovery, it(recovery) won't boot up because of CF auto root. I don't know why, it just doesn't work anymore. I've got the same problem on my Nexus 7 2013. But on the Moto G, this is harder to fix because the 5.0.1 GPE image for Moto G is not available yet. (You can only get 5.0.1 GPE using an OTA link)
I would like like to have 5.0.1 GPE with working TWRP recovery and root acces.
To achieve that goal, I'll need to do some tricky steps I guess.. Which I don't like to take.
The plan is to downgrade from 5.0.1 GPE to 4.4.4 GPE. There's no image of 5.0.1 yet, so this is the only way of getting a clean install (I guess.... please correct me if I'm wrong). Now there is this problem of Motorola phones which don't allow you to downgrade your bootloader.
4.4.4 GPE image does contain an older bootloader...
Now I found this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219
It says: '"Downgrading:
The 1st command "mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin" will fail on 4.4.2 to 4.3 downgrade. Skip this command if you are downgrading and continue with the other commands, which should work."
I need to know if it's going to work for 5.0.1 to 4.4.4 downgrade.
After I have a clean install of GPE 5.0.1 I'll flash TWRP recovery and ultimately I'll flash the newest supersu.zip via TWRP recovery.
Can anyone tell me if the way I want to downgrade is safe? Or do you have other suggestions?
Please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
Best regards,
Daniel
Heyhey.
I'm running a custom lollipop rom (crdroid 5.0.2) and twrp (2.8.5.0) on kitkat bootloader.
Now I also want to have lollipop boatloader.
Is it possible, just to flash this without loosing my data?
I heard that I have to flash motoboot.img from any stock Lollipop Rom.
I downloaded "XT1032_Retail_Brazil_502_Stock_Untouched", but I can't find a motoboot.img. Where do I get it from?
And I'm running "TWRP 2.8.5.0 _STOCK_KK is for STOCK device with f2fs userdata (NOT converted to GPE) and KitKat Bootloader" from here.
I think it will be the wrong recovery after updating bootloader. Should I change recovery before/after updating bootloader?
A lot of questions, I know. Some answers would be great.

didn't someone update (only) her/his bootloader?
I have reflashed(clean install= wiped data/cache/system) 5.0.2 Asian lollipop stock rom, which doesnt upgrade bootloader i.e im on kitkat bootloader. after flashing, i lost root access and i'm on stock recovery. And Now I got 5.1 OTA, can i install it or not? Because while turning on my device, i get custom image first and then motorola animation,i get this custom image because i have made it by moto g boot logo creator + flasher.

Yes you can flash the OTA update without any issues. Considering your bootloader is 41.18 you wont be having any trouble and obviously since you clean flashed 5.0.2 surely your bootloader must have updated itself automatically

Thanks thuva... My bootloader version is 41.08 I.e KitKat bootloader
I first restore to stock 4.4.4 from CM11 by manually flashing falcon_boost_user_4.4.4_KXB21.14-L1.57_57_release-keys-cid9.xml.zip. Everything worked.
After that, I try to upgrade to stock 5.1 by manually flashing XT1031_FALCON_BOOST_5.1_LPB23.13-56_cid9_CFC.xml.zip with mfastboot. Every part seemed to flashed successfully, but when it is finished, it won't boot and stuck at bootloader unlocked screen.
Now I cannot downgrade to 4.4.4 since the gpt.bin and motoboot.bin all failed preflash verification. I guess the bootloader won't allow downgrade. Even with all other parts successfully flashed, it is still stuck at booloader unlocked screen.
I also tried to flash twrp 2.8.7.0, but it also failed due to partition size different. (Is it because twrp can only be flashed under 4.4.4 bootloader?)
So I am stuck now. Please help me. How do I flash stock 5.1 and later CM12.1? Thanks in advance.
Try flashing the firmware with RSD Lite and see what happens.
Sent from my XT1031
Fixed. I found a stock rom 4.4.4 downgrade package from here.
https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoG/comments/3omnox/moto_g_xt1031_boost_lollipop_stock_rom/
It has same contents as the 4.4.4 stock rom package I downloaded from filefactory, except there is a fastboot.exe boundled in this package (dated 6/25/2014) that is newer than the one I was using (dated 3/20/2013). This one successfully restored my XT1031 to 4.4.4 stock.
Flashed of twrp and also flashed stock 5.1 optimized from twrp. Both went well.

Just tried to install CM 13 nightly wiped everything userdata factory reset dalvik. When i try and install from usb stick I got a error "This package supports bootloader (s) 0x4118, Ox4119 this device has bootloader 0x4113.
I was previously on Lollipop 5.0.2 , so I thought CM 13 was compatible with the bootloader before? Ive done something wrong could anyone help me please.
thanks alot
Bootloader 41.13 is the KitKat bootloader. You haven't installed a stock Lollipop ROM before so your bootloader doesn't get upgraded. You was on CM12, right?
If you want to upgrade, check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/general/falcon-bootloader-upgrader-tool-t3093793
Or you can modify the update zip to install with bootloader 41.13 (it's a simple check at update-script)
