On my LG G3, I can go into "access lock" and manage the permissions that each application has. This allows me to say which applications that use location services, which ones can keep the phone awake, which ones can use vibration, etc. I cannot get to that on my Samsung devices. Does anyone know of a solution to manage individual application permissions without root? Thanks in advance.
If I'm not mistaken, Android M has this built-in, so hopefully we will get the update sometime soon when it's out.
Other than that I'm not sure how to do it.

I am hopeful it will be available at that time. For now, I am using Package Disabler to disable the apps I don't use. I so thankful there is finally a solution without root!

Anyone managed to find a working safe package disabler? I feel all this bloatware is whats really killing my battery even tho I disabled &got rid of what I could. And even turned off the features I wouldn't be using that constantly drain. But I think the processes are still running for example the fingerprint process which I refuse to even use. I'd love to root but I think the tmobile s7 has been done yet.

It works without root, it just doesn't remove them and instead only disables.
The built in one (under applications, DIsable) works fine and uninstalls all the updates so you regain any memory you've lost. I've disabled several including Lookout and and T-Mobile NameID and TV.

It should be noted, that NO, THE BUILT IN ONE does not work fine, and while you mentioned the other tmobile apps, you (probably intentionally) didn't mention the terrible, disable-proof, insulting, MEMORY INTENSIVE harassment of code that is the pointless T mobile "my account" app, with its system monitoring, and permanent notifications you have to jump through hoops to disable.
The fact that I have 200 MORE Samsung apps that I'm forced to run than my vanilla android counter parts is almost as insulting as the fact that Facebook, (and messenger), whatsapp, 5 pointless t mobile apps (2 of which are trials for premium paid features) are considered equally important and can't be uninstalled.
Thats purely asinine, and the watered down built in version does nothing about the services or dependent processes (aka battery consumption and everything else)
The T mobile hidden package "com.tmobile.pr.adapt" is so invasive that it quietly asks for root, the SECOND it detects the binary and DOES SO AGAIN AND AGAIN, OVER AND OVER without us ever getting an explanation...now it even shows up in marshmallow with data usage access... the only reason we know it even exists, or wants root, is supersu pops up, as our battery bottoms out...
Now, package disabler pro is gone from the store..oh wait...is it? Or is it just gone for Samsung devices? Or maybe just T Mobile, Samsung devices? Hrrmmm
No. The built in watered down version which doesn't help us with a package like tmobile.pr.adapt or let us disable every single thing we choose to, is simply NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

It's only gone for certain devices...
My Account is not enabled on my S7 unless I start it up myself. The com.tmobile.pr.adapt is enabled but if you disable Diagnostics under App Settings in T-Mobile for me it uses very little data, 14mb in almost a month for me, and T-Mo claims that the usage is not charged to you. You are correct you cannot stop it with the default application manager, but it will not show up in the task bar unless you manually start it.
I'm not going to get into root issues, my phone is on the Jump on Demand so I'm planning to trade up every few months and yeah root is nice but for the most part unless you are a dev (I am not) you shouldn't need it. I'd love to have my copy of Root Explorer and Titanium Backup work (for restores) but can get along without it. If I really needed that stuff I wouldn't have given up my Sony Xperia Z Ultra which was running CM to go to a new unrooted platform.

I have been using EZ package disabler since I got my S7 Edge and I am happy with it. Unfortunately, when the software update came, with too much excitement, I forgot to enable all disabled apps prior to updating the firmware. I have updated the firmware with apps disabled. What problem should I be facing? What should I do? Currently I am not experiencing any problems but I suspect that the disabled apps where not optimized. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

How can I stop an "AT&T Software Available", don't want to lose my root access
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and AT&T is my provider (in case that wasn't obvious)
I rooted my phone last week and completely forgot to deal with firmware updates that get pushed to my phone. If I long hold the notification it only gives options to turn off notifications and nothing about stopping them. There's nothing in my system settings to disable or turn off updates.
What can I do to make sure this update doesn't go through? How can I set it so the updates are manual?
Is there a chance I will lose root access if this update persists?

I used Package Disabler to stop these apps (screenshot attached) and the pop-up disappeared for good.
Keep in mind, I'm only on the PB5 update, not sure which update afterwards may have disabled it from working but i know this version worked fine. There are a few disabling apps in the play store if that one doesn't work though.
Are there any free package disabler programs? All the ones I come across require a paid license and the ones that are "free" ask for a license too.
Didn't think I should pay just to turn off an option.

That I'm not sure of. I took the plunge because it was worth holding off on updates until a good root method came out. A few bucks that's good on any phone you have is worth it in my books.

I'm using Titanium backup which allows me to uninstall any app I want. This applications that Outbreak444 listed, would it be ok to uninstall them or should I only attempt to stop.
I could uninstall them but I wanted to ask you guys before I potentially brick my phone.
P.S. I dont see Knox on my phone. I never saw it even when my phone was brand new. Should I be concerned or is this something that was removed with the S7 & S7 Edge.

These apps are in the system partition and take space there.
Disabling them also doesn't stop them getting updated by "Galaxy Apps". I had powerpoint and word updating themselves yesterday despite the fact I have them both disabled *AND* have turned off automatic updates in Galaxy Apps! (and if that wasn't bad enough, it was using up my mobile data allowance when doing it!!).

You have to permanently disable the Samsung Push Service (the first thing I do), and disable Galaxy Apps and enable it only when needed....

You can't remove any stock apps without root access. If you can root your S8 then Download Lucky Patcher Apk and you can remove unnecessary stock apps.

I don't understand how they're able to update on your phone even with the option disabled. Since buying my phone two weeks ago I've seen either Samsung apps asking to be updating before being used or the app shows as update is available but never updating on tis own without my permission. You got a rooted phone, or something?

I don't understand either. no, if I was rooted then those apps wouldn't even be on the phone! I haven't spotted it lately so it may have been a bug or something that was fixed (of course Samsung as usual can't be bothered providing proper changelogs so that we have a clue what they have done), but they don't update that often so it might also be that I just didn't see it when it was doing it.

I have quite a few packages disabled with Package Disabler Pro and have had two system updates without an issue.

Hello everyone.
I'm writing today to see if anyone is willing to help a newbie out with this:
There is a certain app that I feel got ruined with its latest update, and I'd much rather stay with an older version.
Is there a way to tell the playstore to not offer me updates for that particular app anymore? I guess I could just ignore the notifications, but they bother my OCD.
I'm using an unrooted aosp phone under android 10, if it matters.

If you don't use wifi, disable it then set Playstore to only auto update by wifi.
I keep invasive Playwhore disabled except when I rarely needed it.
Use ApkExport to make an installable copy of that version of the apk, just in case.

play store auto installing apps on all devices
Whenever I install something on my s22, it will install it on my galaxy tablet.
How can I prevent this.
In Playstore settings change to update by wifi only and disable wifi. I normally keep Playwhore package blocked and firewall blocked unless needed. Once a Playstore paid for app is activated I firewall block it as well if it doesn't need internet access. I avoid Playstore as much as possible and create installable backups for all the apps from Playstore so I never need to use Playstore again when reloading except for paid apps. It streamlines reloads and they go much faster.
I also use more Playstore alternatives now but always scan them first with Virustotal. A Playstore app may be clean when installed only to download it's payload latter as an "update". Another reason I don't allow updates or an internet connect if not needed. Playstore updates can and do ruin once working apps. Tired of that bs.

You can manually install updates from Playstore which is a wiser way to do it. One of the reasons I can run Pie securely is I use vetted apps, some are 6 yo and I firewall block them. Updates bring trouble far too often. Once a system is running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission updates serve no purpose most of the time. Auto updates bring rude surprises and make troubleshooting much harder in tracking down the offender.
In 2.5 years (that's how old this current load is) I've had no malware but spent a lot of time undoing damage updates have caused including a firmware "upgrade" for my Buds+ that trashed the sound. That pair now needs to be reflashed and it's a pain to do. meh.
If you try unmark one or more of your devices before instalation on the app, did it help?
