Wireless car charger questions - Galaxy S6 Edge+ Accessories

Hi
I planing to get this for my car : http://www.iottie.com/Product/Detai...roid-DNA_8X-and-Other-Qi_-Enabled-Smartphones
And my question is with normal wireless charge, will I be able to use and still charge the device? Or it will do like a cheap usb cable barely charge and power slowly going down?
I email those guy see if they plan to have a fast charging model this is what I got from them :
"Thank you for contacting us. At this time we do not offer a fast
charge Qi product and do not have any upcoming plans to release one.
The Easy One Touch Wireless will work with your device but will charge
at a normal rate."

considering they are not specifically mentioning that it supports quick charge 2.0 or w/e the fast charge capability is, i'm going out on a limb and assuming its putting out no more than 1000mah which means "slow" charge 1 amp charging isn't too bad. It may not top you off, definitely wont do it in a hurry, but should at least keep it steady while the phone is in use.

No problem at all with the GPS. Isnt your car window blocking your signal?

I always use gps on my phone. Never had any gps issue ever.

It seems that wireless charging never works as quickly as just using a cable and a car charger that puts out a high amount of amperage...

Is there any Qi car charger that can offer the same charging speed as the genuine Qualcomm wired charger ?

Here's one I reviewed recently! Works perfectly for me.

Good but little expensive
Good but little expensive

I just bought the Aukey's Dual-USB Turbo Car Charger, for 10 euros on Amazon (I cannot post a link because I have not posted enough messages yet)
Not expensive, small and support fast charging.
I have not received it yet but I could come back for my feedback if you are interested in.

Just ordered:

I'll review when arrive

I found this one, but I am not sure I want to drop $25 on a charger (call me cheap)

Has anyone else found a cheaper one out there?

The QC 2.0 spec can use higher than 5v and as much as 3A.
Several 2a and 3a chargers on ebay and amazon for less than $15. Works fine when I use a generic 3a charger since the phone will scale power on need and availability.
I ended up buying the original charger linked in my first post. Will report back.
Isn't the quick charging a factor of voltage as well as amperage? Simply buying a 2am charger won't get you the built in quick charging if you don't have the voltage to back it up..

You are correct.
Ok I got the charger. While I have installed it, I haven't had time to test it fully.
When connected, it does display the Adaptive Charger Connected message.
How it differs from the Samsung home charger, it adds 12V to the mix
Charging at 5V is 10W, 9V is 14.4W, and 12V is 14.4W. (As is labeled. I haven't measured)

Depends on scale. It's more about the supply at the end really. From a car charger your converting 12v (supply limit amp) to 5v 5a or 12v 2a easy. Since its DC to DC stepping is fairly straight forward. The phone will never hit the amp limit in a car. Unless you drive a soap box. Smart chargers are like having mutiple chargers in the same device. It detects what's being asked and delivering accordingly. Much like pressing your thumb on a water hose and watching the water shoot out further.
As a side note just to be sure anyone isn't thinking about upping the voltage on a charger DONT. It doesn't work that way lol. Do a quick Google search on voltage conversion and you will understand how electrical supply can change.
The Powermod charger charges my phone in the car at least as fast as the OEM Samsung charger.... Highly recommended.
not all usb cable are the same !
not all usb cable will shows "adaptive fast charger connected" when connected to phone.
i have bought IXCC microusb cable 5 packs from Amazon,
i tested all 5 microusb cable, it DOES show "adaptive fast charger conncted" when connected.
5 packs = 9.99$
3 packs = 7.99$.

I am starting to think the Powermod car charger wasn't all that fast.
I have replaced it with this one. The charge percentage goes up VERY quickly on this one.

It's plugged into a 12v hub that I hardwired to the car's electrical system. I hid the hub behind the dash and then ran the charging cable up through the middle of my dash panels. It is perfectly positioned and comes out of the dash directly where my phone mount is located. I had to disassemble my dash to do it. Wasn't a big deal for me, as I already had my dash apart to flush mount my Nexus 7 as a "detachable" head unit for my sound system.
Does this do Fast Charge like the ac outlet ?
Thanks

That one isn't a QuickCharge 2.0 charger and is likely not as fast.

Home and car turbocharge compatible chargers.

Let's discuss what wall and car chargers you have been able to charge the phone with.
I haven't bought it yet, but the Tronsmart 33 watt dual charger for the car looks promising: https://goo.gl/a3vada
I have a Tronsmart quick charge 3.0 home charger right now, but I don't have my phone yet. When I'm able to test it, I'll let everyone know.
Of course, if you are going to use a USB A to USB C cable, make sure it isn't a cheap one. Apparently there are reports of bad cables that may short out.
A question I have is: Can we get the full use of the Turbocharge with a USB A to USB C cable? Or do we need to go straight USB C to USB C? ANSWER, according to @tea_dub84: Possible that you will need USB C to USB C cables to achieve fastest charging.

Most definitely going to need usb c to usb c for the fastest charging. With a usb a end I believe the best amp rating we can get is 2.4a but usually around 2. To turbo charge the Moto Z and for it to recognize turbo charging you need at least 5v at 3amps (15watts). The stock turbo charger outputs 5v at 5.7 amps (28.5watts). Our phones don't follow Qualcomm quick charge standards. I believe our phones follow the usb power delivery standard for charging.
I gave up looking and went to the local Verizon store. I was having an issue that the only charger that would charge my moto mod battery, Incipio, was the supplied charger with the phone.
They had usb c chargers in stock. I tested out the home charger and it turbo charged my phone then started to charge the battery mod. Then tested the usb c car charger and it turbo charged my phone then switched to charging the mod.
So needless to say I'm satisfied.

Any chargers (home and car) online that use usb-c to usb-c cables should turbo charge the phone...
NONE of them (including the VZW) will charge as fast as the one that came in the box...but they will turbo charge

First picture is using the Verizon usb c fast charger. Not bad and it did pop up saying turbo charging.
Just to compare the second photo is using the supplied charger that came with phone. Huge difference.

Any USB C to C charger will *work*, but they won't turbo charge since Motorola doesn't use QC 2 or 3. It uses the USB C charging standard with a twist. I have tried a couple chargers, and the phone will always pop up a box telling that to enable turbocharge I need to use a turbocharge charger, etc...
The Z Force charges with a 5v at 5.7a, and many chargers won't put out that much power. I've seen a lot of 3a and 5a chargers, but few 5.7a.
If you're lucky enough to have a USB C port on a PC/Mac, it will turbo charge the phone as fast as the stock charger, provided you use a good quality C to C cable. It will also let you transfer data to the phone at insane speeds.
Verizon sells TWO car chargers that are Type-C one of them states Qualcomm QC 3.0 and the other does not but both show they are rated at 5V/3A (15 watts)
Has anyone tried one with the VZ branding? If so, which model was it? SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC or SKU #TYPECPDVPC ?
So I ended up getting the SKU #TYPECPDQC3VPC and it works fine in turbo mode. Go with that one for the car!
I picked up the following charger from amazon with a discount from snagshout.com. Seems to work as it should, have only used it twice though.
Quick Charge 3.0 Silipower 39W car charger attached 3.3ft USB-C connector for 5V 3A charging Nexus 5X/6P, HTC 10 & other Type-C Devices, QC3.0 for LG G4/G5, Galaxy S7/S6/Edge, HTC| Qualcomm Certified

I've got a Pixel charger I use at home, and a Verizon QC3/USB-PD vehicle charger
Vehicle - https://goo.gl/Pa1QWW
I bought this charger :
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Type-C-5-Port-Charger-PowerPort/dp/B01D8C6ULO/
It works perfectly on turbo power via the usb c port.
It follows a Motorola Proprietary Power Delivery, compatible with other USB Type-C Power Delivery devices up to 5V/3A max
The Verizon TYPECPDQC3VPC, TYPECPDVPC car chargers and TYPECPDQC3TVL wall charger will charge 5V/3A. (I bought mine off ebay as Verizon/Xentris non-branded for $9 each~ YMMV)
Reference https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...f_TX8/pubhtml#
I think most usb type-c PD chargers will "fast charge" up to 5V/3A, only the Motorola TubroPower 30 has the capability to do 5V/5.7A proprietary "turbo charge".. It was $20 shipped on Verizon 'til recently, that's where I bought mine.
I bought this charger for home, it's the verizon oem from xentris with the logo marked over. http://www.ebay.com/itm/351967678957

And does it turbo charge?

Found some "super charger" cables and adapters on ebay

If you google hauwei super charger some cables and wall adapters show up. They look like they have the purple. Not sure if they are legit. Probly not.
I bought a couple of these on AliExpress, they look excactly the same and they do work with SuperCharge, very happy with them!
I need the cable in a 2M length. That is the issue. I see that there is one it there by Higoo but it is not available in Canada. I wish the charging technology was not so proprietary !

I confirm, ordered car adapter from the same seller. 100% genuine (passes authentication procedure on Huawei site), supports Super Charge. Very-very good price.
Thanks, man!
I've just bought a UK supercharger from eBay and after a quick search it looks like the UK versions don't have the purple. It does the job though (supercharges) and appears to have the quality of a genuine item.

I received the Anker wireless charging pad and power supply today.
Wireless fast charging works well.
I've attached a couple pics;
1 - The charging pad, powered up, but idling (no phone sitting on the charging pad). I've got a Satechi USB-C power monitor plugged inline. So, here you can see it's powered with 9V @ 20ma (thus, 0.18W)
2 - The Pixel 4 XL sitting atop the charging pad. Soon after setting the phone on the charging pad, the phone, pad, and power supply work out that the pad should be powered with 12v. So the power supply switches from 9V to 12V. Again, looking at the Satechi USB-C power monitor, the pad is drawing 1.2A @ 12V (thus, 14.4W). I've got the AccuBattery app running on the phone, and it shows the battery charge current at near 2A. That's "fast" charging!!! When I set the phone on the charging pad it was at 65%. A little over an hour later it was charged to 100%.
Net-net... this is a good combo. Maybe a little spendy, but they work.
WOW... to double your wireless charging speed you need to spend 3-4x the $$... 5w you can pick up for $10+... 10w will run you $50+ smh
I'm currently using a magnetic phone mount in my vehicle with my Pixel 2. Has anyone had trouble using wireless charging along with either a magnetic case or with a metal disk inserted in the case to work on the phone mount?
Trying to figure potential gotcha's when I upgrade to a new phone which will probably be the 4XL.

Wow. Appreciate the detail. I am a little surprised that it seems most companies separate the puck from the AC adapter. Dont know why they can make it as one product.
For those that care. I found this cheap one on Amazon for $16.99 CAD. You need to have a qc2.0/3.0 adapter for it but I'm getting fast charging speeds on it.. Charges at 10W. Not quite the 11W that pixel can handle but I'll take it for the price.

This makes me curious to see if I swap out the adapter if my current wireless puck will do 10w. Will report back.

Does the screen actually say rapid charging or does it just say wireless charging? I purchased a Vebach charging pad with the 3.0 charging adapter and it still says just wireless charging.

How to charge at 55w (Including car charger)

Hi all,
Red Magic 5G China ROM owner here.
I was browsing AliExpress last night and seen that the adverts state the charging cable is 5A, which made me wonder - is this why we only see 30w max?
So today, I plugged in my HP 100w Type C monitor cable and instantly start getting 10A @ 5v going into the battery. Unfortunately my wattage meter won't read past 40w however Accubattery confirms the speeds are 50w. You can clearly see the battery percentage climbing much faster, it's fun to watch!
So there we go, it's down to the cable.
Enjoy!
Edit:
Hey all,
I found, bought and tested a PPS Car Charger and was surprised with the results.
Less than $20 on Aliexpress.
Spec shows 11v @ 5a which is what our genuine 55w Nubia chargers list.
I can confirm the charger does indeed run up to 11v @ 5a.
The battery itself in the device pulled 9.8a at 5v, leaving the remaining wattage to power the device itself.
Again, I was using a 100w e-marked HP Type-c to Type-c cable which is important to reach these speeds.
Something interesting, the device knows it's not the genuine charger.
You don't get the cool charging animation where it shows the increments on the percentage (51.**%).
I'd highly recommend this over PD/QC chargers as the device can run much cooler using PPS.

The 55w Nubia charger.
I have other chargers, I'll test them once my battery depletes.
Okay, all aftermarket chargers are limited to 25w (to the battery) leaving 5w for the device. So 30w pulled from the charger in total.
I've tested Power Delivery/PPS/QC, up to 60w, you name it.
Oddly with my 60W PD charger, the fan on the phone doesn't kick in.
Anyway, here is a video showing 10A going into the battery. For those of you that don't know, 10A X 5V = 50w. That leaves the remaining 5W from the charger to power the device itself.

Hi, just one thing in your video I couldn't see the voltage in my case I got like 5 amps 4 volts with a pd3.0 60W charger, showing in accu battery, is the battery voltage charging value correct or is it showing 4 but actual charging is 5v?

Hi there,
The voltage to the battery is always on the 5v circuit.
The voltage from the charger is up to 20v but the SOC downsteps this to 5v.
When charging at 50w, the charger runs at 10v @ 5a.

There is something odd in this.
My phone is the global version 4.09.
I have an usb-c / usb-c cable up to 100W (20V/5A)
The 65W charger I have provides at his best performance 20V/3.25A. In Accubattery I get roughly 25W charging power (6A / 4V approx.), so it's something that seems right.
But if you go to see the specs of the original 55W charger from Nubia, it says that the best performance you can get is pps 11V/5A.
So the question is, how are you getting 10A with this charger? They wouldn't be 10 V / 5A?
Also, these 10V wouldn't be contradictory because the internals of the phone are ready for only 5V / xA?
Nubia charger -> https://na.redmagic.gg/products/nubia-55w-pd-quick-charger
My cable -> https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B07QPNRGYH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My charger -> https://www.amazon.es/Baseus-Cargad...9Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
Also, because I am from EU (Spain), here we don't have an option to get the nubia 55W charger, so I want to know which one would fit to get the 55W charge power
This would be fine? (Best performance 20V-5A)
-> https://www.amazon.es/CHOETECH-Carg...rds=usb+c+cargador+100w&qid=1589737305&sr=8-5
I need help with this one because I don't see any options for a charger with 10A / +5V, or 10V / 5A
P.S. Also, how long does it take to do a full charge for you? I want to test it because in the video, I saw the same % per hour that my charger can provide.

But the adapter you buyed has the NA adapter or the EU one? I can only see the one with the NA adapter. If you has the NA one, how do you adapt the plug to an EU one?
It charges to the same speed as the video that the OP posted?
How long did it take to arrive to you since you order it?
Also, can you post the links to the charger and cable you buyed, please?
They charged you fees?
-----------------------------------------------------------
P.S. I asked Giztop, they solved some things I asked here. The charger suits for Spain (EU).
Try this one. Compre este y en realidad no se q tal es ya q no lo e recibido.
I bought this one and i really dont know how will this is gonna work but here it is, it mite work, its on its way now

Hola, que tal.
I'm going to write in English so I don't have to do it 2 times
You are going to have the same problem like me. If you go to the message I posted some days ago and click the charger I buyed in amazon, it has the same output specifications.
I think you are gonna have the same charger power I had (around 25W), the fan turns on and it's like a semi- fast charge for this device. But is not the 55W.
If you check the original charger (https://www.giztop.com/red-magic-55w-pd-charger.html), the max output is PPS: 3.3-11V 5A Max, and is the one that provides the 55W charge, and the one you buyed doesn't have this, like the one I buyed in Amazon.
Even if you buy a 100W charger, if doesn't have a charge output like this -> (PPS: 3.3-11V 5A) ,it's not going to charge at max fast- charge.
That happens because the phone is not compatible with 20V-3.25A, and even if you have this, the charger is not going to "reduce" it to 10V-3.25A (the original one goes up to 11V, so it seems that the phone is ready for that V)
I have ordered mine in Giztop with the supervooc cable (https://www.giztop.com/red-magic-55w-pd-charger.html) and they provided me the tracking number 2 days ago, so when it arrives at home, i'll test it.
If you have some questions please let me know.
Best regards.

It's fine, and I assumed you didn't intend to spam.
You can easily check such links (affiliate spam) yourself before posting. In case of aliexpress you check the link e.g. in Wheregoes? and if the result contains a "aff_trace_key" entry you'd better not use that link.
The reason why 100W charger is not able to charge at full speed might be due to the fact that it's does not support pps. pps enables the charger and device to communicate with each other and send the power dynamically. It might start at full speed at 55W but can go down when phone heats up etc. When you are buying a charger make sure it supports pps so that the phone can communicate with changer and draw the power as per the need. So don't just buy a PD charger which is 65W or 100W without pps, red magic might limit the power draw and not pull 55W from those chargers to save the battery. Hope this helps.

Yeah, that's a point.
But if you look to my other comment and click on the charger link I had, you can see that it's PPS compatible.
I think that it's an important point, but it is not the whole thing: The V-A ratio is important too.
The original charger I ordered didn't arrived yet; when it arrives, I'll test it.
Regards.
So after waiting for almost 1 month, I finally got my charger from Giztop -> (https://www.giztop.com/red-magic-55w-pd-charger.html)
I also got the Supervooc cable that you can see in the charger page: It's the Nubia 5A original one cable.
I payed $39,98. I payed with a Revolut card to have the price in dollars and have a little discount (€ is more expensive)
As I said, I am from Spain, and I didn't have tax problems and they deliver it to my house door.
The package is a yellow envelope with plastic bubbles ; but even with that, the boxes where the charger and cable came had a lot of bumps.
Also, before buying it, I write to Giztop 3 times saying that if the charger is for the EU (EU plug): they answer me saying yes, It's for the EU. But when it came, I saw that I got a US plug. That bothers me a lot because I asked them 3 times and they lied to me every time. And apparently, only chargers with US plug exists, according to Giztop.
They offered me a full refund, but I got a plug conversor so I can use it now (I buyed it for 1,6€ in a local hardware store).
The performance is exactly what @samussamus1 posted in that video link: the thing that mades the 55W charge is the charger and his PPS 3.3-11V/5A, and the 5A cable.
As I said, you need a charger with this exact specification, and a cable that supports 5A charge
I tested chargers with more power supply (65W max.): they have things like 20V/3.25A, but that doesn't work because you need the exact current. That happens because this kind of chargers don't adapt those power supply to what you need. For example: If you have 20V/3.25A, but you need 11V/5A, the charger is gonna supply you with the highest value close to the one you need, and that maybe is 9V/3A, leaving you with 27W.
That's why not every charger works, you need the exact one.
Nubia's 55W charger fills up the phone in 37 minuntes, in my case. Also charges faster the less battery it has: the closer it gets to 100%, the slow the charge it gets
Hope this helps somebody, because this chargers things are confusing!
Best regards,
Adrián.

2 things I would like to mention. [emoji23][emoji23]1.do your research. Nubia doesn't have an eu version of the charger. The only version you can get is us plug.
2. You are almost right about having exact charger. Actually you need a pps charger. That is with programmable power supply so that charger can communicate with the phone how much charge to send. And then it needs to have the ability to support 11v 5a supply. So any charger with. Pps support and 11v 5a supply can work.
