Creating new rom from AOSP - General Questions and Answers

I am a bit of a noob but would it be possible to create a device-specific rom from source code (if you add parts from other working roms to make it bootable/add button functionality) if so, how would I do it?

Thank you, are those programs pretty straight forward? Also, how do I know what to keep and swap etc?

I was thinking more of taking the actual source code of AOSP and pushing it into a zip together with stuff I've taken from a working rom, would that work with kitchen too?

No you will need to run a TW rom as the keyboard needs their framework. This is just something you give up when you use custom roms.
Thanks for the help.

There aren't any. Kernels and roms make very little difference.

Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. It's always difficult to recommend roms as everyone has different tastes. I'd recommend you start in the development forums and read the opening post, OP, of different roms. They usually list features. Then read some of the posts in each rom forum where others would post their experience with the rom. Start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-neo
