Android Chroot for a single application - Android General

Hi evrybody!
My question regards the port of the chroot utility in the Android environment.
I have read lots of tutorials about using chroot in order to install another OS within the Android host, as a sort of virtualization.
I was wondering, is it possible to use chroot on a single app to realize another layer of jailing? I couldn't find any material on the topic googling around.
Thank you in advance!

[Q] porting Snort on Android

Hello all,
Is there a way to port Snort to Android OS? I have already ported
libpcap to Android and I have made some simple native sniffers which worked
perfectly. To do this, I used the NDK development kit that offers you some
tools for cross compiling C programs to ARM architecture.
Is this possible to do it for Snort. I know that Snort is a big project that
contains many source files and uses many modules such as Libpcap, PCRE,
Libdnet, Barnyard2, DAQ. I am wondering if is there a way to build
this code for Android.. E.g. by statically link all this modules.. Moreover an
other potential problem may be the fact that Android uses a subset of libc
(bionic), so maybe some basic functions are not available..
Have anyone done it before? Or, can some one give me some help on how
to start?
Thank you in advance,
Thanasis

ROOT...

Hello everyone,iam new in forum.
Can anyone tell how to root "karbonn A3".Iam trying to use z4root,gingerbreak,universal androot.
But no one work.pls tel how to root my phone.
Thanks in advance...
Purity sure you'll want to post in the Q&A section for your device, or ask a mod to do it for you. Otherwise you'll get helpfully natured people like me that don't know a direct answer.
To help answer your question though; try adding the word 'solved' to the beginning of your search quarry and adding 'similar:website.com' but replace the website with sites like this one. Put the issue or thing you want to know more about between and you'll likely have a good start to your answer. Example:
Solved root epic 4g similar:forum.xda-developers.com
Hope it helps with your task. You can also replace the "similar" part with "site" to search only one site with google. And certainly replace the "epic 4g" part of the example with your device. This is the format I use to learn most new and old things on the web and then I refine it from there. Hit me up if you need more examples and I'll try to help in my free time

Did you happen to root your device?
If so can you post links to the guides you used?
I ask because I'm currently starting a project within the main guide I'm writing on XDA (link in signature) to hack and root Android with another Android and a USB cable, no PC required style.

[Q] Software Development for Linux on Amlogic based Tv-Box's

Hello,
I have an Amlogic TV Box (G18Ref). I have installed Native linux on it using the Rom available here
I want to write software for this Linux. Any ideas how to go about it? Consider myself a complete Noob to embedded Linux development.
If the above requirement is too specific, how would I go about developing software for any Embedded Linux flavour?
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

[Completed] Looking to run Linux distro alongside android?

Dear XDA,
So I have a non-rooted Galaxy S7 Edge (exynos varient) and a Nexus 7 2012 (grouper) rooted running CM 14.1.
I am looking for away to run linux, specifically something debian related to run some arm based software and to interface with my linux partion on pc via ssh or direct connection. I plan on running hpc applications such as openfoam, paraview or blender to visualize (if possible) and analysis software like octave and scilab along with c++ and python scripts. I want to be able to also use my devices camera or usb port to passthrough usb devices and sensors.
I have gnuroot debian which is a p-root of debian jessie running on my s7 edge while I have linux deploy on my nexus which is a chrooted environment. I am wondering if anyone knows if p-root and chroot are the same and can they do what I need to? if not is there a way to natively "dual-boot" android and a linux distro?
Thanks for any assistance!

Hello,
I think this could work. [APP] Linux-on-Android project (Complete Linux Installer). It isn't exactly Dual boot but it may suit your purpose.
