Omnirom 5.1.1 unofficial - Sony Xperia M2

So finally here it is, omnirom 5.1.1 for M2.
Changelog:
General:
sony kernel
omnirom
M2 specific:
device eagle
device yukon (msm8226 family)
Kernelsources for this rom you will find here
Installation:
In order to install one of my custom roms on your Sony Xperia, YOU MUST UNLOCK & UPDATE YOUR BOOTLOADER!
I wrote a little howto for installing, you will find it on this page of my website.
Known bugs:
camera
pink/green overlay on videoplayback
I labeled the rom as stable, even with the two bugs above. Imo these are value added services, phone is functioning rocksolid.
Known issues
There is an issue with a series of D230X / D240X devices with use different accelerometer and magnetometer then the device I have, and the FXP devs have. This issue is that the device bootloops. It is probably caused by the sensorhal which is provided by sony, i.e. we donot compile it from source.
There is a way to boot it, but you will have no sensors working (magno/accelero/proximity/light). This is relatively simple: Open up the zip (on win I advise 7zip), remove sensors.msm8226.so from system/vendor/lib/hw in the zip, and close the zip (click yes if prompted to save changes).
This issues kept me wake for weeks, but is yet not solved. You can read some more background info here
Awaiting all your feedback here. As I opted for D2303 to have official omni status, usefull input is important. But... Please donot report bugs without relevant logs and steps-to-reproduce. I will not look into that if I cannot reproduce it myself, if you report comes without a log
And at the end of this long story, we should not to forget to type a download link
>>>> DOWNLOAD HERE <<<<
Enjoy
Thanx are well in place for:
omnirom dev team
fxp dev team (especially to @kholk for simplifying things and @jerpelea for opening these opportunities for sony devices
@galaxyfreak
@Th3Ant (testing sensors over and over again)
my wife (there is allways enough coffee around here!)
And many I probably forgot but hey, this list is editable

Proximitymeter fine here. Can you post a logcat and a dmesg like requested in OP next time before you revert? I cannot solve what I cannot reproduce.
I just reported a proximitymeter problem for Z1C to jerpelea this morning with this problem.
But on my M2 all is fine

there.... I knew it
Just sent you boot.img
Anyway, I think I made a typo in a configfile. So I will recompile again later.
On autobrightness it is working flawless, on non-autobrightness min and max are 180 and 255 atm
I think I need to lower 180 to some 10 (stock value)

Just tested on "old" D2403
No problems with proximity
Great job erikcas!

Not "a custom ROM". It's OmniRom!
Probably the only one that could make me come back to 4.4. I had it on my V, it's the best for people who like a real slim and lightweight, yet fully functional and stabil environment.
I did not like 4.4 except of course the improved camera. Then no separate GPS switch, Google disabled browser text re-flow, etc ... no idea why they do that but I think that's a downslope.
OmniRom = up-slope.
Will it be flashable for D2306? (LTE, Single Sim, South America model). I think its just bands are different from D2303. Can anyone confirm that?

I made a thread in talk.sonymobile asking the same thing as you, and they told me the same, the basebands are differents. The software remains the same, 'cause there's no dfiference between LTE connection (I don't mean about basebands, just the connectivity), Dual Sim or no LTE.
Waiting for it
waited for mod to move the thread
will build it overnight and put a dl link tomorrow
It will probably be alpha as audio is not working yet

No flashable zips? I didn't own a pc...

Looks like Cellular part doesn't work. Reboot on setup screen, and endless searching when looking for providers.
Am wondering if this has an apns-conf.xml?
Baseband isn't installed?
Never mind, apns-conf is included.
Also notice it only has 2 and 3g capability, even if it worked. No LTE
Screen rotation doesn't work and gets stuck in portrait mode when Hangouts opened.
Wifi drops out and will not auto-connect (sporadic)
Camera Forces closes
GPS doesn't work (locations doesn't work with wifi either)
Seems these issues are also on the Z2 Phone.
Unfortunately no builds for Castor Windy (SGP 511/512) yet
Also, a bit more info in the OP would be appreciated, such as what works and what doesn't.

Ive also noted on the downloads page there are 2 download files with the same file name. However, when zip opened, the file image sizes are different.
Are they indeed 2 different builds? After redownloading, it is indeed so. Pity there isn't a date before downloading. (I know why)
Oh yes, one more thing. Adfly needs to go. It's fair enough I paid for the premium speed, but the adfly is against the rules.

Hi there,
Any chance to see a 4.4 AOSP for the Z2 tablet ?
I'd like to use XPosed but that can't be done in LOL I think...
I know that there is a CM 11 for the Z2 Tablet... but some features I'd like to get on my Tablet using Gravity Box won't work as the things are modded by CM (i.e. : the QuickSettings)
AOSP exists for the Z2 Phone... why not for the Tablet ?
If needed, I have a running Linux VM to build it myself... but have not been really succesful so far
Regards.
are there any AOSP, not cm12 prebuild images?
ok, found them, i can see 2 caster with the same date, which is the castor windy?
There is no version for Castor_Windy yet...
a lot of changed including telephony this week
please test on as many netrworks and report back
new roms are released
Why still no castor_windy?
new builds coming
changes
-wifi fixed on z1,z1c,zUltra
-full device encryption
-panel detection M2,E3,T3,T2U
not implemented yet
-camera
Known bugs
-video playback in full screen is broken
-GPS on 8974
please post any bug you find so that we can fix them
enjoy

[DEV DISCUSSION] Let's get camera working on AOSP

Hi guys,
as @jerpelea recently posted it is possible for us to get the camera working.
(
all needed parts are open source and comunity can try to enable camera
br
J
)
As much as I know we have to enable it in the kernel source. I've already took a look into the one on official Sony Github(because their code is updated more often then Free Xperia ones) and found already a few interesting things that I'll Post the next days.
Maybe if a few of us work together we'll get it to work on our device
Sent from my Xperia E3 using XDA Free mobile app
Ok, most of the interesting stuff is in drivers/media/platform/msm/camera_v2/sensor (remember to select the correct branch). As much as I know our camera sensor is a s5k5e2 which many devices use as front camera.

on fxpblog theres new version of 5.1 151203 soo it came out 28 days before have you tried flashing it? @edit:
and yes theres clearly a file for our xperia e3 s5k5e2.c and reference added to Kconfig and Makefile soo if someone build marshmallow or lollipop on that new files with addition of making sure he checked enabling that driver there should be everything good
-flashed it- nah... it has that deep sleep bug and no camera working but i think if someone manages to build rom now and consider enabling camera in kernel it should work (if we're not missing anything.)
Which kernel branch does sony use for various releases?
How about progress? Is the camera working on AOSP now?

No. The problem is, noone except sony devs know how to implement the camera.
But things are moving: our overloard Jerpelea is working furiously on Lollipop and Marshmallow for all open devices, hopefully our E3 as well. Unfortunately no camera commits yet. Check out activity here: https://github.com/jerpelea?tab=activity
I totally support this, but since I have no experience with kernels I can be only tester.
Here is what jerpelea wrote, over at the sony open devices forum:

If they forget about E3, because they don't have the hardware, I will start to cry :'(
Any update?
Nope still nothing regarding the camera implementation. They're still working on flamingo in general, but nothing related to the camera yet. I guess we'll have to keep coping with Sony's firmware. Let's just wait and see.
Hello, someone has tested the build 16 / 04 / 11?
Is know if some day will operate the camera?
pls get camera working ((
pls get camera working ((
On Xperia M2 now it works. I think the problem is in new bootloader. Could we port Marshmallow kernel to make it boot with old bootloader?
---------- Post added at 07:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:23 PM ----------
Xperia M, which is not an open device, has alpha Android N working with camera.
As far as I know, problem is in kernel. You must enable camera there to make it works, but no one is willing to do it and I have no expirience in that part.

Ok, it was only a theory becouse the camera only works on cm11 and stock, which use old bootloader.
In Jerpelea unified kernel our cameras' code is written.
But a dependency from driver is not enabled in flamingo's config, can it be the problem? I am trying to change that and recompile kernel to see if finally it works .

Installation
- If coming from stock MM, or if you have ever been on stock MM, jolla recommends to flash back stock LP.
- Clean flash CM12.1 (IMPORTANT)
- Flash SailfishOS zip
- Enjoy !
- ... and hit "thanks" if you like it
"Dual Boot"
(It is Not recommended, but I just want to show something possible)
Before flashing sfos, make a backup (a full one is recommended). Don't wipe your data and flash sfos.
Make a backup of the boot partition of sfos.
Rename that backup to be able to recognize it later.
When you want to switch between sfos and Android, restore the boot partition of the rom you want to boot.

The boot animation is strange due to the surfaceflinger hack, I said it is not working to avoid receiving message like "I got cm bootlogo when booting" or anything like that .
GPS I think I removed all packages in order to make the build able to finish it is not gonna work ^^
And I haven't tested sending files over BT.

But Wi-Fi is broken.
And I will be away from computer 10 days in a few days. If I can fix Wi-Fi before I go I will release a new build, if no you will have to wait.

- my old Sim card was detected... SMS should be working! ! (calls may not as I removed a package but I will try to fix it)
- Reboot didn't seem to be broken !!
- Bluetooth worked after reboot
But Wi-Fi is broken.
And I will be away from computer 10 days in a few days. If I can fix Wi-Fi before I go I will release a new build, if no you will have to wait.
All thanks go to @Mister_Magister !
(I stole his work and I feel like a thief now )

PS: Try force shutdown (hold power button) and then wifi will work (i have the same error xD)
Also moving port to cm-12.1 was pretty easy Most of sources are form cm11 just kernel and device sources

Well you have uploaded your sources! That's one of the best help you can provide!
Force shutdown doesn't seem to work... And wlan-module-load failed when it started.
Anyway I'll see tomorrow it is late now.

[ROM][Unofficial][9.0.0_r46/Pie][X/X Dualsim/X Compact/Touch] AOSP9 - 20200206 builds

Please see this post in Xperia X forum and thread about AOSP9 builds for all Loire device, including Xperia X Compact / F5321
Thank you for the info, I will try it
Insane, thank you!!!
Fantastic news. Been waiting patiently for an update the past couple months. Just flashed this and it's working very smoothly, stable and no battery drain so far. Thanks for sharing!
20200307 build: 4.9.214 and 4.9.215 kernel updates
AOSP-9-F5321-20200307-4.9.214brcmfmac.zip
An updated clean build with 4.9.214 kernel (boot.img), and proposed 4.9.215 update (boot-4.9.215.img).
Please test 4.9.215 in priority, and in case of problem fallback to 4.9.214.
Both kernels have proposed wifi/brcmfmac update.
Not sure if flashing only the boot img over previous build will work: in case it doesn't, please do a complete/clean flash...
Is there anyhow fast charge available?
Hi everyone,
I am currently using AOSP 9.0-r46 with the 4.9.213 kernel. I compiled the image by myself following the build instructions provided by sony, so my problem meight not be reletated to the build of vknecht. Anyways, I have problems with the camera. No matter what app I am using (OpenCamera, AOSP-Camera or PhotoDirector) the auto focus fails to focus far away objects under bad light conditions. Objects near by can be focused without any problems. Also the focus of an landscape fails when it gets to dark.
I guess this is related to the proximity sensor, since the focus always fails if I cover it.
Does anyone have experienced the same problem or can reproduce it?

I haven't come across this issue before. Are you only experiencing it with AOSP? Is your phone case or rear cover perhaps blocking the sensor in any way?
20201003 update : new boot.img with kernel 4.9.230
Updated the release post with links to new boot.img including 4.9.230 kernel.
AOSP10 build with gapps
If you feel like trying it, just uploading an AOSP10 build with included gapps for X Compact, please see this post.
Not super-stable (eg. reboots while booting), but should be at least as good as AOSP9 build, once it boots...
Non gapps build should follow later...

Excited to try this and thanks for still supporting kugo! I still use it as my primary device, running minextu's AOSP 10 (May security patch) but will flash yours too so see how it compares.

Thank you for my XC, will wait for non gapps build for testing.
I'll also wait for non gapps version. By the way I suppose you build with the kernel version which reduces reboots.

Indeed, these builds are with latest-best-known-as-of-yet kernel (seen as 4.9.230 version)...
Here you go for non-gapps F5321 build :
e46ecc1d097b3c3645954b5d83d03f0e AOSP-10-F5321-20201101-4.9.230.zip

Just flashed this and so far so good! If you accept PP donations let us know. Thanks again!
wi-fi hotspot doesn't work. it turns off itself a few seconds after turning off. is this a known issue? Also bluetooh has a problem I guess. couldn't connect with pc. pairing is succesfull but when you try to connect. goes to pairing screen again. it seems good other than that. no battery drain so far.
Hey yes this is a known issue. Might be related to the kernel not sure. The previous aosp 10 from minextu has the same problem.
