I accidentally deleted everything on my phone flashing the new ne5 update, I then rooted (cf root) is there anyway I can restore or even backdate my phone to get my stuff back?
P.S those are the only two things I've done to it. I already restored via cloud but doesn't have everything.

If you didn't back up with titanium backup or make a nandroid you've lost all your data. And pics, documents etc that were on your internal memory are gone if you didn't move them to your SD card or backed up to your pc. I learned this the hard way myself on my s3

I have my Galaxy S5 rooted and a custom rom(Rico's rom or something like that) installed, but my friend with the same phone gets better battery life and she is on stock.
So I was curious, can I restore the stock rom and just install titanium backup as root and unlock the hotspot? Instead of installing superuser and all of the other stuff?
If so how would I go about doing that after restoring it back to stock with ODIN?
Thanks for your help!
I think no. But do your friend gives the same use as you to the phone? That must be the first question.

Titanium backup will not work without supersu/superuser. You can restore stock rom and just root only using those two apps if you'd like. But as the post asks above, are you using the phone in the same way? Same installed apps? Same coverage area? All those factors play a role in battery drain.

HI,
so I flashed the XEF MM onto my S6 and the phone lost absolutely everything.
I flashed several ODINs before and it was always fine...
Can anyone please tell me what went wrong? I flashed all 4 files. Usually its only 1 ? Can that be it?
What can be flashed without loosing data?
thanks!
Usually as I remember from galaxy s2 If you have one package Rom it always flash without wipe but if you have couple of files it means usually that while flashing all data will be erased because of full wipe always remeber to do a backup firstly

I also lost all data after MM update. I did and OTA and all went fine and the phone worked perfect for a day. The next day it soft bricked. The logo was flashing and there was nothing I could do to reboot into system
I had to do a factory reset in recovery and thus lost all data.

You lost data because you flashed 4 files. Data gets lost doing it that way unlike with flashing with 1 file.
.
I just flashed the AMO region (JUST the AP) file ... all data gone again!!!!!!!
And now my 128GB S6 shows 16GB of storage.
Seriously Samsung?

YOU are flashing stuff. Not samsungs responsibility
ap file contains pit file.. and that rom is wrong for your phone.. just flash something like btu 5.1.1 or xef 60.1 and storage will be ok..
This is the problem on here sometimes, people with no prior knowledge of what they're doing don't read the threads properly and just flash absolutely anything and end up screwing up their phones.
It's not only for advanced users but you actually have to read and understand what you're doing.
This is not the first time Im flashing, but the first time everything gets deleted!
How can I get rid of the PIT file in the AP?
thanks
I've flashed AMO 6.0.1 with 300mb Hidden PIT file and all is working ok. I think there's no carrier stuff and I'm liking MM for now
EDIT: I think too that the best way to flash is copy all stuff from Internal to computer or any external storage and let ODIN do its work. If there's a PIT file inside firmware archive, perhaps it's necessary or, at least, useful.
I was rooted using Lollipop on S5 G900W8 and was able to back up files using Samsung Smart Switch. I then flashed CM13 and GApps successfully but when trying to restore the back up files, Smart Switch is saying that the device is not supported. I tried checking the MTP for USB, and allowed USB debugging but to no avail. My bad, I should have created another back up using other apps. Is there any ways to work around this? I just wanna restore the call history and sms mainly. I am tempted to flash stock Marshmallow if it will solve the problem. Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,
There doesn't seem to be a documented method unfortunately can you convert it to .csv files? if not google would be your friend to see if you could find alternative/3rd party apps to restore .sme files from a backup.
you did try kies already right
Hello everyone, I need your help !
So I want to sell my Galaxy S8+ (G955F) but my potential buyer wants to get rid off root, so I flashed Android 7.0 via ODIN. Problem is with Samsung Health app, because immediately after launch an error occurs because this app will not work on rooted device (error 0x110060null5e2830). Any app for root detection isn't detecting root, so where is the problem? What can I do to make this app, and everything from Samsung, work?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English

1. you must root stockrom again
2. go to buildprob and change ro config tima to 0 or1
3 reboot
4 start shealt
5 unroot phone and flash stockrom with odin
6 done

What do you mean at #4? So basically I need to do exactly what on this video below? What about all of this when device will be restored to the factory settings? Will the application still work or will it be necessary to carry out the whole process again? And what about OTA updates from Samsung?

do it like in the video that works,if you then run the stockrom, after unroot, then you have to use the home csc instead of csc. otherwise everything will be deleted. translated with googel, hope you can understand

Ok, so this is what have I done, maybe someone will find this useful:
1. Root stock Samsung firmware (XEO version, Android 7.0)) with Magisk;
2. Found this build.prop file and changed value ro.config.tima from 1 to 0 and saved the file;
3. Samsung Health still wasn't working, but I restarted the device and app starts to work;
4. Unroot phone by flashing stock Samsung firmware (Android 7.0) via ODIN, BUT, as you suggested, I used HOME_CSC file;
5. Update the phone to Android 8.0 via OTA update;
6. Samsung Health works!;
7. Restore phone to the factory settings;
And something went wrong here, because Samsung Health app again isn't working, still the same error occurs. Why? Is it because I restored the factory settings for this potential buyer? Well, he eventually will do this by himself... Is it because factory reset resets the changed value in build.prop? Is it possible to factory reset the phone without the necessity for editing build.prop all over again just to get rid of that error?

when the Knox fuse is blown (meaning you flashed twrp or a custom rom) you will never be able to use SHealth or Samsung Pay on that phone unless you root first. (I don't think Samsung Pay will ever work, but as stated earlier, there is a work around to get SHealth working again but you have to be rooted to do it.)
This is a hard ware thing - the phone knows that something was flashed on it - and samsung decieded that for security reasons, when soemthnig is flashed - ever - that phone is potentially corrupt and will not allow those apks to work on them. (as I said, the only way around that is to have some kind or work around you can use after you root the device) AND if rooted - you will not receive samsung OTA's.

I know about the OTA's, but I received one today (with Android 8.0) BEFORE I decided to factory reset this phone. Before this even Samsung Health app was working.
Ok, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but I can edit this ro.config.tima from 1 to 0 value so many times I want, but if I someone will try to factory reset this phone everything will be undone to the previous state (when ro.config.tima is 1 again, instead of 0) and actually nothing can be done to get rid of root permanently and make Samsung app works?
but if I someone will try to factory reset this phone everything will be undone to the previous state
that's it, why do you do it? factory reset??
you do not need that at the update

As I mentioned above, I want to sell this phone and my potential buyer wants me to unroot the device, because he wants to use Samsung apps (like Samsung Health and all the others), he also mentioned that he wants to pull out the phone of the box "like he would buy the new one by himself" and because of this I tried to factory reset via option in settings. He would eventually do it himself and I want to avoid any problems because of this
So... Absolutely nothing can be done?
