¤¤¤ ICS Testing ¤¤¤

Hey guys, so i've talked with Zackconsole , he is porting ICS to Huawei Ideos U1850 , it's in Beta 3 now and he's done a great job especially taking into consideration the hardware he's dealing with. Anyways , he doesn't own a I9001, but he said that he is ready to port for us if we're ready to test his builds, basically he needs one private tester, and the rest can test when builds get published, normally i would've volunteered to test, but i have 2 serious exams coming in February (i'm a med student) and will be absent from the forums for a while , so we're looking for someone who has the time to keep testing and communicating with the dev, logcatting and reporting errors, so if anyone is interested plz let me know. it won't be easy, but if sakindia managed to get Cranium to where it is now without having the device, this project might succeed, in addition as seen in his signature Zackconsole owns an Arc S , which should make it even easier to use their bases...
Update: OK , so from now on FaqihCici will be working with Zackconsole , any questions/info should be addressed to him.
for the following few days i'm still free and ready to help in any way if needed. i hope more and more people will join too. Gd. Luck guys
Note: i kindly ask the mods not to move/delete this thread only for a couple of days untill we see how many users are ready for testing.

Update: Zackconsole: Well i might be able to push a POC by today cause i am free today..but need a tester...or u can find someone to test it... cause rarely i get to have free time as well
i would prefer if the person who will work with him start since the first build, but if we don't find any, i'll keep testing for the time i could be online and someone will have to take over. let me know if some1 is interested to start the work from today.

could be a good idea.. or not. if they were to team up im sure the developement would be faster and easier. then again when two strangers team up might cause conflict.. maybe for now, it is best each one make their own

I think it's better if Zackconsole starts the port and at least we get a booting version first, since he knows from where to start thanks to his ICS ports for other devices, then the whole community including guys like manveru0, YardE, skywalker01 and others could join forces and fix what can be fixed to get to where SGS is now so, definitely our priority is to get a booting version, hopefully with working touchscreen, other hardware stuff and tweaks will follow on.
Edit: annoymous1234 u're also Malaysian, so maybe u could help FaqihCici in case he needs it

I'm not a developer, but would be more then happy to do what i can to help. As anyone contacted TJ_Style directly?? I've heard he is the man. I have exchanged a few PM's and am currently trying to convince him to help, but not sure if that's gonna happen or possible. Is there anyone else other then the big names we know that can help? I'll do the begging. Just let me know who to beg.

i think Team WX435 is possible to be a game changer lol, in my opinion, 3 of the top current devs for this device, all working as 1 unit instead of each on their own projects
i've got excitement about what they can do for our device

CM7 would be the best right now. I am working on TEAM-WX435 CM7 right now. It's ALPHA at best as I am working on rewriting the device files. However the new Keyboard code I have added is simply amazing and much more responsive!

I've been a fan of Franco's work since I bought my Samsung GNEX..
He's agreed to work on Dev'ing a Kernel for our phones.. But he lives out of country.

Def get him this phone guys ! Ran it from my gnex and it was great ! He updates alot, has great customizations , stable reliable. He usually adds new fixes patches and his work speaks for itself. Hes a good guy as well .

Judging by other kernels, it seems like only minor edits would be needed. Many folks here are running att and other kernels.

I agree, actually, OP really should have taken a bit more time to formulate the post.
Honestly we either need to revise the OP with more information and a running total, or just close the thread and have someone start a new one who can manage it.

Agreed. I'm interested in doing this but I'm just a bit cautious until the logistics are set out a bit more clearly.

Are you or anyone else interested in setting up a well-formulated [BOUNTY] thread here then?
We can request a moderator to close this one, and we can set up a new one with a clear number goal, and we can keep it updated, then collect the money at once if we reach the goal number (isn't that how it's usually done?).
I'm sure we can do it, something like $450 between all of us SGS3 users who love Franco's work can certainly get that.

Looking for testers!!!

I am looking for beta testers that will test out my first ever rom! its basically a simple rom based off of Scroslers base(don't know if that makes sense lol). what i did was read my good internet friend Edgehood's thread about building your own rom which you can find in the development part of the Verizon SGS3 forums. I read every instruction carefully and came up with my own rom. the rom is called AVID ROM. as i said it is very very VERY basic. no framework changes or anything like that just plain old basic. good thing is that a lot of bloatware has been removed..really all of vzw's stuff is gone. i did use Scroslers rooted base so its rooted already.there are build.prop tweaks as well as initd.prop tweaks but i don't wanna get into that until i have testers that say everything is good. now truth is i want to add A LOT more but im taking it slow like Edgehood said. it does have Sbreen94's custom Zeus Kernel as well(hope he doesnt mind). I am open to all and any help that can be given to me by devs and testers. this is just something fun for me but if yall like it and if i could get some help on doing other things like aroma and even better tweaks and framework...then i can consider building roms and making them the peoples way so with that being said if anyone would like to test my first beta build of AVID ROM please pm me and i will get back to you ASAP. unfortunetly i live in AZ and its 3:45 in the morning so im actually gonna catch some zzzz's right now but i will get back to you later in the day. thank you for reading in advance. And might I add that if anyone here doesn't know ADB or basic root troubleshooting such as pulling a logcat then you really shouldn't be so quick to want to test.
You will probably be doing more harm than good for both yourself and for the developer. He's expecting bugs. As a "tester" it'll be your job to find and report them. Not to complain about stability, make suggestions or demand ETA's.

Used to be flasholic since moto Droid 1 days. rooting with adb and cmd. been thru Galaxy nexus,moto x,x2,note2,3,4, 6edge plus, and some I can't remember. And you sir and the whole echoe team I give huge respect. especially when ael was available I forget but maybe it was note 4. I would love to brick my phone for you. thanks for reading and let me know

he never mentioned that he was looking for testers only for the first release. it's still a beta(it could not be beta for v2) which means there're stuff still to test on. please make sure you understand what you read first.

What?
If he's testing a rom... which has a newer thread than this which is gathering feedback from willing participants in that thread... why the hell would he still be looking at this one for testers when he already has dozens of them on the newer one? The only reason why this thread is even still open is because the mods haven't closed it yet.
I'm very much aware of what I read. In fact, I've been testing his rom since before it went public. I've tested his aroma version and will continue testing more. In other words, I know a lot more of the subject matter and I firmly believe that I understand perfectly.

Don't close it I think it's better the questions be here then there.. it's almost Friday and football time.

Well the questions should be where the links are posted. Keep it simple. Otherwise, it's just more clutter and duplicate posts.
As a developer, why should you want to check two threads for one rom? He has members downloading his betas and posting feedback and discovered bugs there already.
There is literally zero purpose for this thread now... but that's for the OP and mods to decide.

Since the OP has a thread for his ROM now and this one is going nowhere fast...
