Expandable notifications - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S6

It seems that since the 5.1.1 upgrade, apps like gmail no longer have expandable notifications. I used to be able to expand then delete new emails from the notification area but no longer.
I can't find a setting to enable expandable notifications.
Anyone have similar behavior or a fix?

I usually don't get a popup for any notification.i see alot of apps for individual requirements like sms or mail. But I need a single app for all type of notification as I get on iphone. Anyone faced the same issue

most apps put notifications in the notification bar - IMO, the notification bar is superior to anything the iPhone does. Even with a PIN Lock, I can see icons telling me i have notificationas and which kind - SMS, IM, eMail, Skype, etc. All have their own icon, so for me this works better then a single notification app.
Most apps, have their own settings to allow notifications.
I too was looking for this, but now prefer the notification bar system. The popups are annoying, and only useful when using the phone if at all.
Handscent SMS has popups and quick reply if you really want to try that.
Im also using apps the nag me that their is a notification. Handscent does this, and im still dealing with how to do it for calendar. TouchWiz and Google's calendar apps really lack the features.
I jailbroke my phone mainly for notification bar icons. I want to know if i get something without having to swipe to unlock and then enter a PIN. I should be able to see that stuff from the lock screen.
try NoLED from the market place. It's free and pretty useful. When your phone is in sleep mode, it will show an icon of whatever notification you get (e.g. a mail icon for message, or cassette for voicemail)
It also keeps the background black to save battery! Very customizable, and I highly recommend it

[Q] Two-way notification dismiss

Hey all,
Just wondering if a 'two-way notification dismiss' option exists on the Gear 2? I also have a Pebble and there's a feature on the watch where if I check a notification on my phone (i.e. Note 3), the notification will dismiss itself on my Pebble as well and vice-versa.
It seems that on the Gear 2, if I check my notifications on my phone, it'll still show up on my Gear 2 until I 'delete' the notification from the notification list on the smartwatch.
Please let me know....thanks!
No way to dismiss a notification two way.

This is something they really need to work on.
Kind of annoying deleting the notifications on both devices.

I agree 100%. This was my first day with it and though I love the thing, I must say this is a little annoying. Also I have noticed that when reading one email as part of a notification, if a second email arrives, i cant read the second email, only the subject. This is through the k9 mail notification which I guess isnt fully supported. Teething problems with it I guess.

[Q] Disable heads-up notifications on L?

I have a rooted Nexus 5 and I flashed the factory image for Android Lollipop. I like the clean design but I don't really like the heads-up notifications. You know, the white pop up at the top that covers 25% of your screen. I'm trying out QKSMS and I see a little icon when I get a message, that's enough for me so I don't need an extra notification. It also sometimes pops up when I receive something from Facebook Messenger, but not always for some reason, which is also quite annoying. So is there any way to disable the heads-up notifications? Thanks in advance!
Agreed. I prefer notifications to be discreet. I don't want the contents of private texts to pop-up onscreen if I'm showing something to a friend/co-worker. It would be nice to be able to choose between the Kitkat style of scrolling ticker text in the status bar and L's heads-up notifications. Or to turn them both off and simply have the app icon appear in the status bar, requiring a notification shade pull-down to view the contents.
Choice is good.
I dislike it because often I can't deal with the notification straight away, but still want it in the notification draw for later. With these heads up notifications (which I get for EvolveSMS) I can't get it out the way without it being completely dismissed, it's annoying.
This could be solved with simply adding the function that swiping up will send it to the notification draw
Yeah I'm currently inclined to stick with KK until I know that the worst aspects of Lollipop can be controlled. Obviously in the absence of Xposed on ART it's difficult to make little tweaks here and there.
Heads-up is right at the top of my list. I have always liked how notifications NEVER attack my screen space in Android 2.0-4.4 and I'm not about to go along with a regression to iPhone-like behaviour. When I can disable it globally or on a per-app basis I'll be much more comfortable with the idea of upgrading.
My other biggest concern: The old Silent mode functionality was to allow user-configured audible alarms, while shutting off all other audible notifications and silencing all vibrations. The new modes, you have to choose between a None that also silences alarms, or a Priority mode that lets vibrations leak through.
It's kind of hilarious actually, this is the first time in history that I've been dragging my feet on an Android upgrade when all my less techie friends are upgrading. In the past I'd be proud to be the first one to upgrade and show it off to everyone stuck on the old version.
So, a few weeks later... Are there any ROMs or mods that allow users to disable the heads up feature entirely across the board?

I hate heads up, they are very intrusive, i prefer something more discreet...
I apololgize for bumping this old thread, but has there been any update with this? I'm looking for an SMS app that allows you to disable the heads up style pop-up notifications, but also allows you to reply from notifications. Textra and ChompSMS allow you to disable heads up notifications on Lollipop, but they dont allow you to reply from notification (like EvolveSMS, QKSMS). I'm looking for an app that incorporates both features. Any luck?
With HeadsOff lollipop heads-up notifications can now be disabled!
No root needed.
You can also restore the ticker text in the statusbar!
Give it a try:

Gmail notification problem

Not sure if this is specific to the pixel or Gmail app, but in the notifications drawer new messages only shows my last correspondence and not the message I just received. Anyone else experiencing this or is it just me?

Is there any way to bundle persistent notifications from different apps on Marshmallo

I don't wanna see my notification shade filled with unnecessary persistent notifications. However, I cannot block all of them because some of the persistent ones I actually use. It would be better if all the persistent notifications I need from different apps are bundled together so that I can use them whenever I need while seeing the transient notifications such as messages. Is there any way to achieve this?
Thanks!
