I think it would be great if we could have the features from the note 5 Camera like live broadcast and the video collage. Curious if someone can implement it into a rom or the apk can just be pushed.

Might be a noob question, but can it be done? Even if its not for the 720p video recording possibility, the galaxy S has alot of features within the camera app that are useful!
I was interested to know that too....
No it requires the touchwiz framework. There are many threads about this. Use the search feature before making a new thread.
Try the miui rom it has pretty much nice camera functionality or a third party app such as camera 360

Hello,
How are you?
SInce I am using my note a bit more to take pictures, I was wondering if there is a camera App that is better than the stock camera in regard to overall image quality, either by lower compression of files, or by better use of the camera hardware.
So, dear note users, what is your take on this?
Thank you.
Cheers!
I use as photo application Camera ZOOM FX https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=slide.cameraZoom is very good camera App :good:
I'm running Paranoid Android and find the stock Camera to be pretty poor. The best alternative I found is:
Pro Capture
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.neaststudios.procapture&hl=en
I should say though, that the stock TW camera is better.
CameraZoomFX is good if you plan to add effects and stuff to your pic's. if you want a more DSLR/professional like handling of the cam app and .png files instead of .jpeg, you should take a look at FV-5 Camera https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.lite there is also a paid version with even more features.
I'm using Pudding Camera and it's really cool but the stock app in TouchWiz is enough for daily use.
I use the Camera X or even the Shot Control Camera.. They have many customizable options like a pro at your finger tips
I am using shot control too.
Dev seems responsive according to comments.
Have emailed regarding geolocation support and custom folder support.
Other than that, it is a pretty sweet app that allows you to access features on the main screen.
So you can control ISO, and exposures, and focus modes easily.
You can also map to hardware keys.
The Note's large screen does help a little here.

@Markuzy Totally agree with you.. Shot control screen is just great on the galaxy note considering the screen size. The feature request is also just what i was looking for.
Is there any mod for the camera on the note? Like there is for the HTC One X?
Cheers

Honestly my dream camera app will be something that can do everything from HDR merging to fast capture to panorama.
Unfortunately I have yet to find an app that does all that. Only the individual apps for each feature can be found.
One thing I found out is that localized touch focus on Gingerbread Galaxy Note is proprietary to Samsung while it is native to ICS.
This may be something that you are missing out on 3rd party camera apps unless you are on ICS already.

Try Camera FV-5. It has all controll on the screen.

All of it.
The total ability to alter the phone to my own liking. The root, the CWM (Team Win +1), the ROMs, the addons and tweaks, all of it.
I can't be happy with a stock device, ever. I like to squeeze what I can out of it.
Not only that but everything is a learning process. :good:

Big screen with latest andoid OS....
ostralak infidel
Honestly, it's fast GPS for me I just had a veeeeeeeeeeery old navigation system with a SiRFstar II chip before, it took 10-15 MINUTES finding satellites and starting route calculation!
After rooting, my favorite feature is blocking adds.

Hello. Is there any port of Sammy or other camera app to N5? Stock is terrible in panoramas - it stitches worse panorama than my previous budget sammy and totally uncomparable to gs3 panoramas.

Since most of these oem cameras can't be ported onto aosp roms for the same phone, im going to say its unlikely. Try 3rd party apps or aosp cameras

I do NOT reply to support queries over PM. Please keep support queries to the Q&A section, so that others may benefit
Since touchwiz is a closed deal, I would assume that their apps that go along with it are also closed.

try doing a panorama with photosphere instead. its quality will be much higher. and you would need much more than the samsung camera app to make it work, youd need the framework, the cpu, and kernel support for it.
Thanks for quick reply. True - panoramas are muuuuuch better with photosphere. Not as good as with gs4 but good enough. Br!

Just pray someday Google will fix their camera software someday that is near.
It's a shame Google markets the camera like as if it's the best camera ever on the market. Don't market something if your not gonna make your camera software AWESOME.
Even the GSIV and HTC ONE looks crappy if you use an AOSP ROM with the Stock AOSP Camera.

Update from today on Nexus devices, apparently it works on other devices also. I no longer have a Note so cannot check, some niceness added.
Try it and have fun.

It doesn't have HDR (from what I can tell anyways, but it does on Nexus devices).

HDR has some issues on non stock Google roms, Slimrom team done a fix for nexus devices, but I imagine someone will fix it soon for the N3

Highly doubtful as it's Google's camera and not Samsung's. You may see different behaviour though.
So far no crashes on my N3. Love the Lens Blur feature!
