Hello Pros! First post, semi-noob here.
I tried flashing the newest [JB][CM10Based]Unoffical MIUI 2.9.14 Skyrocket 9/14/12[PORT] today. I followed all instructions; I wiped wiped wiped, factory and Dalvik, and flashed the kernel.
But I am always stuck on the MIUI bootscreen, and can never fully load up the ROM. I've tried wiping and re-flashing several times, to no avail. I have not had any problems flashing roms before this. Any help or ideas of what causes this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I formatted both system and data. And I'm using the recovery that was recommended in the rom thread, Sk8er's Cwm v13.

Try reflashing. But when u get into recovery go to extras/darkside tool. And click on the super wipe(idr what's its called but there's only two options.) When that's done factory reset format data/system 3x if u want.( Couldn't hurt) then flash ROM! All should be good... if not keep this thread open. Lol and well try something else. But hopefully that works. Good luck!

Thanks for the steps, but unfortunately I'm still staring at this dang MIUI bootscreen...:crying:
I ran the darkside superwipe, factory reset 3x, and formatted both data/system 3x, flashed the rom, and I'm still staring at this dang MIUI bootscreen... waaa waaaaaaa, what's the DEALIO?

Really? Damn. Are u on the latest recovery? If not try flashing the newest. Then do the steps again in my last post. Can't believe your having all these troubles!
Oh also u could try fixing permissions. After doing all the wipes and after flashing. Go to dark side tools again and do the cashe wipe! Then go back to advanced and fix permissions again.
Can you boot into recovery or not? If you can, just flash the rom. If you can't, yank the battery, replace it. Then, hold down both volume buttons, the press the power button, release all the buttons, you should be able to get into recovery.

Wow, still stuck on the boot screen even after the darkside cache wipe. I flashed CWMR Touch v6.0.1.3 by sk8erwitskil which is the newest CWM recovery as far as I believe, and the recommended recovery for this ROM. I EVEN flashed TWRP 2.2 just for the heck of it and flashed MIUI with that and still the same result; stuck on bootscreen. So I'm pretty sure it's not the recovery.

It's just once i reboot, i get the MIUI splash loading screen indefinitely. I'm not sure what could be causing this since I do all the important wipes (plus the darkside wipes now) each time. I think I have BAD LUCK!
You'll have to use odin, and reroot your phone.
Have you checked the MD5 of the ROM? If it's a bad DL it could flash just enough of it to loop you.

I had the same problem, but while my phone was stuck on the MIUI boot screen i pulled the batter, got into recovery again and simply did a factory data reset just once and then it booted up, but my issue is that i get no data at all no mater what version of MIUI I try to flash.

Even if my stock rom is already rooted? I'm not against trying it, I'm just curious to how that could affect it. Thanks for your help!

Ya I agree try downloading it again. Check the md5 and flash that ROM again. If it doesn't work your gonna have to Odin!
There were a lot of complaints of boot loops when flashing, so I pulled the DL link. I actually stopped using miui and moved back to CM or AOKP, depending on which one is most stable at the moment. Every once in a while I give miui a try, but I never stick with it. If you want miui, I suggest you follow Lithium's thread. His version is the officially supported miui rom.
I can confirm heres what i did to fix i had the boot loop.. all i did was run DARKSIDE Superwipe x2 Times. Then i installed MIUI Rom. Then i Factory Reset. Try booting wait a little bit. If still not going threw remove battery and boot to recovery and factory reset one more time then reboot. So once again.
1. DARKSIDE SUPERWIPE x2++ 2. Install MIUI Rom. 3. Factory Reset. 4. Boot. 5. (If still looping) Remove battery Then recovery. and Factory Reset and boot again. Your welcome

So, I have a Samsung Galax S2 Telus SGH-T989D phone and I decided to root it using the 4.4 KitKat and it went well and everything was great.
However, afterwards to resolve some other issues I was having I decided to make the mistake of loading the gapps which was for another
package into my phone and that messed everything up!
So, I have been struggling with the phone and first it wouldn't let me install another ROM from recovery and kept on giving me error 7 and 6
But, I fixed that and now I can install any ROM from the recovery or Odin (download mode) without any errors.
However:
The phone vibrates , brings up the galaxy logo and then the Koodo logo appears and a bar fills up quickly under it but it never goes away!!!
Phone freezes there and that's that!! Even after taking out the battery I noticed the logo was still stuck on the screen where as normally
it goes blank!!
So, at this point I am not sure what else to do! This is annoying and I'm tired of experimenting. I went through some XDA foroums here and
tried the Super Vipe (taking out the battery has been tried, factory reset and wiping the cache all have been tried)
So, please please please help me out here. I used to have a MyTouch4G which I rooted with CyanogenMod back in the day and it's the most
stable thing ever and all I wanted to do was to perform the same thing on my Galaxy S2 and boom not this time!!!

Thank you for your reply. However, as I've mentioned before, I've already tried those (from ODIN and through RECOVERY) with multiple different
ROMS and it's not doing anything which is why I am posting this here.

Did you perform a FULL wipe? Custom recovery -> format ALL partitions except EFS?
I have tried the Super Vipe off the SD card through the recovery mode and also from recovery I've tried the wipe cache,
factory reset and wipe cache partitions.
I am not sure about "format ALL partitions except EFS" nor am I aware of the procedure.
How would I perform that?

Yes I'm able to successfully install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-hercules or CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2
from the recovery without any errors (same if rooted through Odin)
If there's a specific ROM you are thinking about please let me know and I will be more than glad to give it a shot.
You really should use a newer recovery version. But for now go to mounts and storage and format all partitions except EFS. Then try flashing stock firmware via Odin
Here you can get the latest recovery for your device --> TWRP for hercules

Do you have a working link for downloading the stock firmware? I have downloaded few and none of them even let me install them (status 0 error)
Any ideas?

I was able to finally bring it up!!
Basically I looked for a stock firmware for T-Mobile and after formatting the phones multiple times I tried this ROM
using ODIN and it got rid of the Koodo logo and replaced it with a T-Mobile logo and then it BOOM loaded to start screen finally!! :laugh:
I was about to hammer the phone. So, trust me I was very happy to see it work.

So the other day I was messing around on my phone and trying to find stuff I hadn't found or messed with yet.. Nd stumbled across the decryption for both internal and SD card storage... After I went through the whole process I noticed now in setting I cannot uncheck the box for decryption... Is there something I'm missing? It's bothering me bc now I cannot make a backup of my phone via TWRP and the OTA I just got from Venom won't install all features bc of it... How the hell do I turn off the encryption??
The only way to get rid of it is to do a factory reset. Back up your stuff on the internal and external storage to a computer first. Then do the reset. Then copy the stuff back from your computer to the internal and external storage. If you have a good Nandroid of the rom you're using, you should be able to restore that too. Kind of sucks but that's the ony choice you have. As far as I know anyway.

Anyone else have any ideas? Or is a factory reset the only way? Bc with it being encrypted I cannot create a recovery img... Nor can I flash any that I currently have
Don't think so. Save your data off the phone, do the factory reset. If you have a nandroid, restore it afterwards. If you don't, consider this a good lesson to always mke a nandroid before you start messing with stuff....

It won't relock the phone and don't worry about root. Any custom rom you flash is rooted....

A factory reset does not return your tablet to the condition it was shipped - that's what you seem to assume... It just wipes /data as in: all user installed apps and settings. It does not touch /system.

So I finally got around to backing up and trying to factory reset my phone.... But I'm guessing the encryption won't allow even that... The phone restarts and goes into recovery... Tries to load and fails.. then just restarts the system and I'm back where I started

Forgive my ignorance.... But I'm still fairly new to all of this.... I can flash roms and use cmd to access boot loader etc... But have never used RUU... Though I've seen the term.. Idk what it means

Hi guys, can somebody help me? I received the stagefright update this morning and after downloading it and rebooting, the phone stopped working. It shows the logo animation for a few seconds then the screen goes black. It's a rooted and unlocked phone so i don't know if thats the cause. Also, i can access the recovery mode pressing power and down. Other than that nothing.
If you were rooted and updated ya..the rooting may be the reason
So as you can access the bootloader just flash the stock rom back and you will be done with it..

But, just for curiosity: rooted phones tends to have problems after updates?
Yes It may get error or Somthing Else Thats Why I prefer if a update is avaiable flash back to stock and then proceed

Technically, it should not install at all if it's been rooted. It's interesting that Moto has let this slip by.
In the future, if you have made a single change in the system partition...root, build.prop edit....anything...even custom recovery or kernel...you should reflash your current factory image, reboot, then flash your updated factory image. It's VERY IMPORTANT you reboot between flashing one factory image and the next, though. You may have more issues if you don't.

I did the update and as mentioned previously on the thread stales after the logo. (bootloader is unlocked)
I can not find my oem backup. I tried twrp on recovery and was able to backup other stuff. Is there a way to generate the OEM so that i can flash or any other roms that are compatible with Moto G 3rd generation?
Try wiping cache, dalvik cache and data with TWRP. Don't use stock recovery for the data wipe or you will lose all the files stored on your internal partition, as well.
Edited the build.prop file by adding 1 line, restarted phone and now I keep getting System UI has stopped message.
Any way I can edit the file to fix my phone?
Have you tried to clear the cache in recovery? If that doesn't work, try a full factory reset.
If the phone is running a stock rom, try flashing just the system.img file in fastboot.
Before doing any of this, make sure you backup your data.

Thank you, I ended up backing up the data and cache via USB, then did a flash of Cataclysm ROM. I'll let you know if it works.
Can I just restore the data ASAP after installation or do I need Google to finish restoring my backup first?
Edit: Well, restored data, stuck with the boot screen loop again, then goes to Android is upgrading... and shows it optimizing 10 apps, and back to the boot logo.

No, I made sure it was completed.
Now Play Store keeps quitting when I try to install apps. I can only install specific ones.
I recommend flashing a stock rom to make sure there isn't a hardware problem. Don't restore anything until you are sure the phone works.

Alright, I was able to get all my apps installed besides United Airlines and can't update Chrome.
So the stock rom works fine?

The stock rom is the best with the bloat taken out .I think the kernel can be improved though. I use EX
