Just wondering if I'm able to root my Galaxy S6 (It's on 5.1.1 and software is up to date which may make it difficult).
I first tried Kingo Root (As that worked on all of my previous galaxy phones) but had no luck. I've tried pingpong root app but that also didn't work.
I'm not worried about disabling/tripping Samsung KNOX or Samsung Pay.
Here's some of my phone specs if it helps
Version: 5.1.1
Basebrand Version: G920FXXU2BOGE
Kernel Version: 3.10.61-5012324 [email protected] #1 Tue July 21 13:05:06 KST 2015
Build Number: LMY47X.G920FXXU2BOGE
Hopefully someone can give me a hand, thanks!
I simply rooted by flashing Unikernel (stock) via Odin. 920F on 5.1.1

Thanks for the reply! Is Unikernel the EXACT same as the original S6 OS but just rooted? (and also not needing to do anything to get things working again such as wifi, network etc... like in some other dodgy roms).
And would you have a link please?
Thanks!

Need a root file for my s6
dont know if this stuff is important as its my first time rooting so,
my Baseband Version is: G920FXXU2POGN,
and my Build Number is LMY47X.G920FXXU2POGN,
any help would be greatly appreciated
Not advisable as you will trip knox. No root is available still for 5.1.1 without tripping knox.

I came across this video, How to Root Galaxy S6/S6 Edge on Android 5.1.1!(sorry I tried to post the link but because I'm a junior member it wont let me) would this work or should I just wait until there is a proper root for 5.1.1?
Stick with stock 5.1.1, enjoy your S6 as it is and wait for the proper S6 root for 5.1.1 which does not trip knox.
if u really need a root for 5.1.1 there is a kernel with auto root .... i tried it and it works fine but it ((((trips knox!!!!!!!!!)))), if u don't know know why u should root ,u better stick to official stock rom without rooting

I recently purchased an AT&T Trek HD tablet running Lollipop 5.1.1, and have found zero root apps that can root it, as well as little to no information about plans to root it aside from 2-3 errant questions asking how to root it or stating outright that none of the root apps work.. Yet have seen ZERO inquiries if anyone plans or is working on a root solution ?? Thank you

I have gotten mine rooted. I'm actually in need of the original OTA image. Have you tried KingRoot? I'm pretty sure that's how I rooted mine.
Kingroot
I used kingroot and switched over to supersu via the app in the playstore called SuperSu Me . Should work

Did you make a recovery ROM for the 9020A? I'm looking for one and can't find it anywhere. I was able to root my 9020A using kingroot, but I messed around with boot animation and soft bricked it.
Hey
Hi all ok my query may be a quick one to answer. Tried my best researching this forum but their is so many different roots for your phone dont know which are good and which arn't.
Basically at this stage not interested in customer roms as my phone is fairly new and will plan to try some roms later on. At this moment in time i just need simple root access as im wanting to play emulators and the controllers connected wont connect as i dont have root access. I would like it rooted but to kep on the same stock rom and dont want the knox to be affected.
Which is the best, safest most successful way to just root the s6? and as always can it be reverted at any time? Many thanks
Device: SM-G920F (flat phone)

As of now there is no method available which could root your phone without tripping knox (except for 5.0.2),

CF-AutoRoot is probably the best way to go. It does most of the work for you. The phone can be unrooted, I guess, but KNOX will >always< be tripped
And I really wouldn't bother waiting around for a method to be developed that doesn't trip KNOX... People aren't hopeful and there doesn't seem to be much of an appetite from developers to create a method either
Thanks for the response, so what exactly will go wrong or happen if the KNOX is tripped? who do it connect to? and can it be un tripped if root access is removed? Just weighing up my options as im about 4 months into this s6 contract with EE
Thanks again.

There's NO WAY to untrip Knox for Exynos 7420 devices -for now-
If the KNOX tripped, you just can't use Samsung Pay and if you're rooted, you can't get OTA. If you reflash your device with Smart Switch, you'll get the OTA support again but there's no way to get the Samsung Pay support back.

I have decided to root and install moar 7 on my galaxy S5 which is currently bone stock.
I stopped accepting OTA updates awhile ago so not really sure which version of SU/odin/philz I would need to use (Does it matter?) from this page: androidfilehostDOTcom/?w=files&flid=15340 (tdunham)
I'm a noob so I will just paste what my "about device" screen says and hopefully someone can point me to the correct SU/odin/recovery/MOAR 7 DL links..

Any help on the correct versions I need would be greatly appreciated
Go for Odin 3.09 or 3.10.
Install TWRP 3.0.2-0, NOT NEWER.
MOAR 7 comes with SU.
Been you, I'll upgrade to MM stock, then root. MOAR is too old.
Have fun.

Thanks man, I'll try your suggestion.
Thought about upgrading to mm then simple root access as you suggest but I'm following what wimlingtech did from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s5/help/root-bootloader-procedure-t3480032/page3
He had just picked up an S5 which I assume was on mm judging by his post date, and was having some issues:
So I tried pushing MOAR 7.0 to the SM-G900P on PH3. I tried using a newer version of twrp 3.something but had capacitive button issues and modem/dropping cell connectivity issues. I tried backing down twrp to 2.8.4.0 and reflashing but still had the same issues. Full wipe both times, tried it a third time and still had problems. So I flashed to stock OK4 (System, Modem, Kernel...whole shabang) and then flashed MOAR 7.0 on top of that in twrp 2.8.4.0 and it took. So far so good.
Only bought it to use as a hotspot for wifi at the house although all the normal features of the phone seem to work with no issues. Only issue I have really seen is that the LTE/DATA symbol grays out occasionally (noticeable when first turning on hotspot) but it doesn't seem to affect the performance of the phone.

My main goal is the hotspot access but I don't mind being on LP. If you have a different suggestion or you think just root no rom on mm is better/stable let me know.
Thanks again.
