Here is the Open Source Link Samsung released the Source Code today !!! Awesome !!!
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=sub&sub=F&searchValue=N920
HOW TO ROOT THE NOTE 5 .......
1st Thing to do... make sure you have enabled developer mode, click OEM unlock to On .... allow USB debugging, and allow unknown sources
1. Download Odin 3.10.7 attached D/L in the OP ...Also.... make sure you have Samsung drivers loaded on your computer
2. Down TWRP Alpha920T 2.8.7.1 also in a tar here : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347802037
3. Download the Noble Root tar from here: ...Special thanks to MANH-IT for this .............. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347802315
4. Go in to Download Mode and then open up Odin attach the phone then Flash The Noble Root, then Reboot
Then Get the Supersu apk and you Flash that well It is an attached to this OP
and the TWRP if you want it (use Odin and the one I linked to Only) that after it reboots ... If it asks to update the binary su it's ok to do that.
*** One interesting thing I discovered if your TWRP is not recognizing, I found an easy fix is to download the one from the play store Then just open it to allow give it root privileges... then close ...... but do not use the play store version It seems sometimes the phone does not recognize the TWRP that is Odin flashed. This was the Fix I found solved the root recognition issue. Remember, still Only use vol-up/home/pwr method to get into TWRP
Thanks to Manh_IT ... JThrasher47, Charlieb620, Mocsab and any others I forgot to mention in helping us get root... We got it........ :fingers-crossed:
For Those who might want the Arter97 Kernel Here The Link to his thread :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/development/arter97-kernel-galaxy-note-5-t3189907
Here is the Version 4 released today link http://arter97.com/browse/exynos7420/kernel/4.0/n920tw8/
To Those who Want Wanam Exposed Here is the Link ... https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347803128
But Remember... DO NOT FLASH Exposed unless you are on a Deodexed Rom ..... Heed the Warning !
The stock tar essential if you bootloop..... you can then recover by Odin back to stock
Thanks ~~~ oka1

Glad I could help -
Eagerly waiting ROOT - I know it probably won't happen until Source Code is released -that happened in a few weeks on the S6 - not too bad - gives me time to get 'acquainted' with this phone - despite the nay sayers - I really think this is a pretty amazing device. Could it be better? What couldn't! The old SD Card and Removable Battery argument - but I got used to it on the S6 and I won't really miss them here on the Note 5 - MICRO OTG Storage device for backukps - and there are ways to mimic pulling the battery - so there are ways to get around without missing those things too much.

I saw that sammobile has the stock firmware posted already... that's a good sign. I've been hostage to att for soon long, they barely ever post their firmware.

Several different ways to try - not exactly the same as pulling the battery - but the effect is about the same...
1) just hold power until phone turns off - then restart. If that doesn't work go to 2 -
2) Hold Power and Volume Down (takes a few seconds - up to 10 I think) and the device will reset.
3) Hold power, home and volume up - Samsung logo appears - continue to hold - Samsung logo goes black and capacitive buttons flash three times - release - phone goes to recovery - then choose option - reboot or whatever. This is tricky and sometimes It doesn't work for me - timing is everything - if it doesn't work, go to option 4,
4) Hold power, volume down and home, when screen goes dark, switch to volume up, power and home - wait until Samsung logo appears - continue holding - when screen goes dark or when capacitive buttons at bottom of phone flash three times then release - it goes into recovery - then you can reboot -
It is not as easy as pulling the battery - but the effect is the same -

@mocsab- You said using OTG for backups, that works for TWRP? Or do transfer them when needed? TIA.

Yes, it works great in TWRP - once we get TWRP that is - I used it all the time to create and Store NANDROIDS on - and for other storage that I don't need right away - all the time. It is a great alternative to having an EXT SD Card.

I didn't know that was possible, that's awesome to hear. Relieves a lot of stress for storage. Thank you!!

Will this root the Canadian version as well? I hope so as the Tmobile one worked for the note 4

The op didn't talk about flashing the kernel? I thought that was the first step?

all depends on what build is the Canadian version is, usually you can but you need to check ......... make sure you also have the Stock tar before flashing in case of you need it

Hey should I be on 3.10.7 or 3.07...? 3.10 failed and it also looks nothing like your picture. I have AP, BL tabs etc. I know I should have OEM unlocked but should I also have USB debugging checked off? Also, which is the most updated kernel...i see 3 versions. Oh I'm running Windows 10 if that helps. Any help would be appreciated.

3.10.7 or 3.10.6

Also, checkout the update.zip below. If you poke through the zip it will show you some tricks on how to write an img file out to a raw partition. The update is something another dev and I put together for updating the modem of a device. Works the same as the boot.img.

It's stable and Official. Only one thing is weird, if you try to set "write permissions" to the "system" in file manager, the phone won't let you do it and it'll reboot automatically... New SEAndroid feature...
Other than that, ALL OK, I'm using quite few apps with root access and all of them works fine, including restoring apps and data..
enjoy and report any issues
Sorry, but what does this do, does it root your device?
If you do this you don't have to do CF-Auto-Root?
Or, just when necessary, revert back to stock ROM?
And can someone explain to me what's Odin? I came from One XL.
After doing this, you still have to use CF-Auto-Root right?
Because this isn't permanent is it? Meaning you can't flash other ROMs etc unless you do CF Auto-Root?

These links have only been posted for about two days so I'm glad I could help so many people. Im going to repost these links in a public folder and put new links up in a bit. Thanks guys!

Thanks Zachisimo,
I followed the steps to a "T" and after I flashed my Tab 3, 10.1 nothing seem to be changed.
I have a working tablet but nothing was changed to factory default.
All that I had checked was the Auto Reboot & Reset Time option.
I will re-flash this rom via Odin, Again...
Should I had checked the Re-Partition Option?
Thanks in advance for getting me this far :good:

Oh yes, I never had a problem with that.
I problem was not getting the correct TWRP 2.7 installed so that I could flash a rom.
I was able to use TWRP 2.6.1 that still remained even after I Odin the stock rom twice, to flash Super User but I could not flash a larger zip like the Crash Rom or Infamous Rom on this tablet.
Weird, I dont know why I am not getting factory default.
What do I do to get back to factory . . .

Doily noted Zachisimo, but I have not achieved stock after 3 attempts at flashing Odin with the said stock rom and Odin.
I have the same working rom with a recovery that I want to change and cant.
Even after I Odin the rom, I do get stock recovery back. but no factory default
I Odin the TWRP 2.7 and later reboot into TWRP, I get the TWRP 2.6.1
Something gotta give....

GALAXY S5 Mod and Apps for the KitKat Grand 2 - Rooting Instructions Inside!

Good day everyone,
This (was) my first thread here. I am trying to make a single package that'll turn a boring, unrooted KitKat Grand 2 into a rooted S5.
I'm done collecting the apps. The flashable ZIP is being uploaded.
Currently, there's my root guide for the KitKat Grand 2 Samsung ROM.
1. Download CWM beta (link added below)
2. Download SuperSU (link added below)
3. Flash that through CWM.
4. Rooted.
EDIT:
Link to SuperSU flashable ZIP package: http://download.chainfire.eu/381/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.91.zip
Link to CWM (KitKat only): https://mega.co.nz/#!UR5j1AAQ!RHCy_MudMz48TJ3S1-jkfVQgeUDUBr-Io-sIBhG5EOc
Another link to CWM:
http://d-h.st/JgL
<B>STEP 1</B>: S5 notification panel and quick settings with circles
a. Download the flashable ZIP from the attachments.
b. Flash that through CWM.
c. Enjoy!
There's evidence in the last picture (attachment)
The quality is too low because I was using my laptop's webcam (phone won't let me take a screenshot of the notification panel).
THIS MOD IS OBSOLETE. USE MY NEW MOD:

Tested and verified on my Grand 2 SM-G7102, but works on any variant of the Grand 2, if rooted and upgraded to KitKat.
Detailed (as in "noob-friendly") instructions , screenshots, and links coming soon.

Did you:
- make sure that your phone is on KitKat?
- try another cable and/or PC and/or USB port?
- try redownloading CWM?
If all fails, please tell me.
Ya bro i tried download twice all went ok odin showed reset but as soon as i boot in recovery then stock recovery flashed again automatically and yes it is 4.4.2 kitkat tried almost 10 times to flash but all in vain

So, did you flash while having enabled Debugging Mode? (Tap the Build Number seven times in About Device, go back, tap Developer Options, and turn on USB Debugging). Also try disabling it if you had it enabled.
If this doesn't work, try flashing with Auto Reboot turned off in Odin, then manually rebooting after you become absolutely sure the process is over.
If both solutions don't work, tell me.
Tried again back to stock i think because Qualcomm secureboot is enabled it thr a way to disable it

That has no effect on installing CWM, because I got Secureboot enabled, too, while having CWM.
First, do you have a red line saying UDC START in Download Mode?
Second, do you mean (by saying stock) getting in Download Mode again with an extra line saying "Could not do normal boot" OR getting a screen with "Android system recovery (3e)" on the top?
And did my other solutions (toggling Debugging Mode, disabling Auto Reboot) fail?
If so, tell me. Concentrate on what you mean by "stock".
I got one last solution working, but it needs you to tell me what do you mean by stock.

Step-2: Ensure that Galaxy S6 Edge USB drivers are installed on the computer
Step-3: Switch off the Galaxy S6 Edge and enter download mode by holding the Home, Power and Volume Down buttons together for a few seconds. If it asks you to press any button to continue the process then press the particular button
Step-4: Launch Odin on the computer (located in the above zip file)
Step-5: Connect your S6 to the computer using USB cable while it is in Download mode. When the phone is connected successfully, Odin will display an Added message
Step-6: In Odin click the AP button and select the .tar.md5 file that was extracted in step-1

Beware. Read the posts in Chainfires thread about the phone not going into deep sleep.
I am now in that boat. Phone is not going into deep sleep and battery discharges extremely fast.
Still trying to find a way to fix it. I currently have to put my phone on the charger several times a day.

Nope. That's what I'm waiting on. Hopefully Sammy doesn't make us wait too long. Not too big of a deal for me, I have easy access to chargers all day (plus the quick charge feature is really nice).
You may want to try an app like Battery Booster to increase battery life. Doing a test with it now, will report my finding tomorrow. You can always unroot the phone via the settings in SuperSU
What would be the point of rooting right now?
Same sentiments as I'm saying. Especially with the issue of battery. Just wait patiently until all the kinks are out.

I heard the fix for the drain problem is to reflash the stock recovery after you achieve root, but since the firmware is not available for the phone to pull out the recovery.img file to reflash it with odin its a mote point for now. Some other Samsung S6 Edge fourm are saying it maybe a bug in Lollipop and a way to fix it is by turning off Wifi

Yea I wasn't sure if using the recovery.img from another model would work assuming the recovery was the same for all models. But if turning off WiFi is the answer that's a pretty do able thing for root and WiFi hotspot.
Excellent post OP and thanks for the disclaimers

Any news on tripping Knox fubaring stuff like Samsung pay?
Knox will be tripped therefor supposedly Samsung pay will not work when it becomes available....has anyone gotten wifi tether to work yet? It appears that sprint locked down apn changing but wifi tethering works on a rooted T-Mobile.
Data wiped during root process?
Does this wipe data? Also, I had to encrypt my phone to use my work email.

Actually, the T-Mobile stock recovery for the S6 Edge does work on our phone. I would have have posted the link to the recovery, but when booting into recovery takes a long time like 45 to 60 seconds before see the "installing system update" then it takes you to system recovery. I seen a post to fix the battery issue you need to wipe the cache partition after flashing the stock recovery. If anybody wants the link to T-Mobile S6 Edge Stock Recovery let me know.
