All,
I'm currently on Jump2 and this morning wanted to get into Jump On Demand. I paid to the halfway mark on my old Note 4. They said I couldn't switch to JOD because in order to do so, I would have to pay the remaining half of the Note 4 which would be about $350. So I didn't want to pay $350, plus the $99 down for the Note5 64gb, I went and stuck with Jump 2.
Upon more research later, from what I read, I could of Jumped to a cheap $100 phone, paid it off then get into JOD.
Does that sound right? Can I still do that, with Buyers Remorse?
Let me know what you think!
Thanks all!
With JOD you get three upgrades anyway, but I would call loyalty and ask for your original request they typically are accommodating if you have been with TMOBILE for a while.

I did this today. You missed a step there, it's when you sell them back the note 4 for ?300+. I would of had to pay 115 to bring my Nexus 6 on jump to 50%, or $450 to pay balance completely, then move to JoD. But after the 300 trade in credit for the Nexus 6, I only ended up paying 150 to pay off completely, then 108 (99+tax for 64gb) to start new on JoD. Plus on JoD vs Jump, the insurance is cheaper, from 10 - 8.
3 phones a year is gonna be insane. plus, they dont care how the phones come back. if knox is tripped , no big deal. as long as screen is not cracked, no water damage, and phone boots to show eim, you're golden.

Just do a return and pay the 50 restock fee and get the 100 dollar phone.... That's only a 150 total still less than the 350.... Then get your note 5
Yes, you could have jumped to their $60 flip phone and paid that off. Then moved to JOD. I'm on the original JUMP program where I don' thave to pay half my device off and decided to keep that one.
Original Jump is just so damn awesome.
WEIRD, I had the jump program with a fairly new galaxy s6 edge just 1 month old. They switched me to JOD and let me keep the edge from old jump program and they gave me JOD note 5. didn't pay anything down.

Not really they only change his jump status..from Jump2 to JOD...he still has to turn the phone in.. duh
I was also on Jump2 with a G4 and the store switched me over to JOD without a hassle

In his situation, he went from jump to JOD and now has 2 brand new flagship phones... that's is a pretty sweet setup.
In your self described scenario, you went from jump2 to JOD and got to keep 1 phone.
You tell me who got the better deal...

I'm not sure of the scenario... but I'd gladly help tmobile out and take an s6 edge off their hands after making 1 monthly payment...
Where do I sign up for that deal??
The new JOD is a complete joke if you are still on the original jump program. I'd rather get my 2 upgrades a year and have t-mobile pay off the remaining balance on my phone than upgrade 3 times a year and I have to pay the balance of the phone. They tried to get me to switch to the new jump yesterday and I was like hell no lol. Trust me he will still have to pay off the balance on the S6, they will add it to his bill which they told me they would do if I switched to the new jump on demand. I got the s6 edge on release day April 10 or something, and my jump upgrade date after that was August 22 which is how I was able to get the Note 5 already.

Well you may not have to pay the entire balance but it's at least half of it. From what they explained to me yesterday I could stay with my old jump program or switch to the new JOD but I would have to pay almost $300 to finish off the S6 edge that I could pay up front or they could bill me for. Either way the old jump is much better.

Yeah I'm totally confused. So why are they making you pay half the balance? That sounds like jump2. Doesn't jump 1 allow you to Jump twice a year? If you're due for a jump couldn't you just jump to JOD with a Note 5.

I just started a new contract with T-Mo Tuesday night, and got the Galaxy S 4G for free. (It was a one night special!) It seems like a solid phone, and my only complaints so far are the low internal memory (which I understand can largely be fixed by rooting and moving apps to the SD) and the occasional sluggishness. I'm also a little worried about upgrades of the OS, as I've heard some bad things about Samsung in this regard.
How big a difference would I see with the G2X? Is it worth the possible extra $200 I'd have to shell out to get it, considering I got the SGS4G for free?

as a previous VIBRANT and SGS4G owner i will tell you GET IT!
dual core>single
1080p camera/mirrioring>****ty 4g no flash camera
DIVEX!
there are many more
do research before you buy but YES it is a upgrade its the top phone to buy right now (till the SGS2 comes out)
and if you still got your 14days to exchange it do it! (if you still are in your 14 day grace period you WILL NOT have to pay a xtra 200 bucks! just pm me and ill tell you more!)
and if you dont like it im sure you can sell on ebay for close to 400-500 bucks!
(i hated the fact that the vibrant had 16GB internal memory but the 4G did not so i also switched it for the G2x....)
good luck and hope i helped!
Its not worth the $200. I have only used one in the store, but i would hardly call it a quantum leap in terms of features or speed.
Spend the $200 on a used tablet instead

You may have gotten the phone for free, but its still a 2-year contract. A 2 year contract on a phone that is basically a vibrant with 4g and ffc that came out July 2010. In my opinion I would get a phone that is newer technology. I love my vibrant a lot and its a fantastic device, but I would not however sign up for a 2-year contract on a 9 month old phone. If you do not change phones often then free isnt a bad thing at all, just wish it was newer. My 0.2 cents
The 2-year contract is what is making me consider the switch, even if I do have to shell out some cash to do so. (I EXPECTED to have to spend money up front, just caught a break on that SGS4G deal.)

I understand. I mean a free phone is always awesome lol, just hard to push contract on 9month old phone into my head. I go through 2-3 phones a year so I always buy mine outright, but that isnt an option for everyone. The SGS4g is a great device and still impressive with a custom rom on it. Cheers

You wont have to shell out any more money since you are still under 14 days. Just go to the store with a reciept and the phone and ask for an exchange. Unfortunately ive had my galaxy s 4g since launch so im pretty much SCREWED.

I think he will have to shell out 199 for the G2X vs the FREE for the Vibrant4G thats with 2 Year Contract.
And yeah I would take the Vibrant4G back and pay the 199 and get the G2X. You could also use the Equipment Installment Plan and only pay like $50 I think. and then 50 or 100 a month untill the 199 is payed off.
The Vibrant was free but like said before is about a year old vs something that is brand new. If Im going to sign a 2 year contract might as well get the latest and best because without the 2 year contract your looking at 499.
The G2X also doesn't feel like it'll break if you look at it wrong.
Possible solutiom
Look for my thread in the G2X forums, it has info you may be interested in. Sorry I cant post link, i'm using my cell for this reply.
Actually, it's the Galaxy S 4G I got for free, not the Vibrant. I think it is working out for me because there were other issues with my account surrounding my plan based on what I was told versus what I was actually going to be charged. Basically, I've been getting the runaround on a few things, have been getting miffed, and I think they are trying to make me happy at this point.

Depending on how fast he trying to sale his Vibrant4G/GalaxyS4G you can get it gone quick on craigslist.
200-250 Will get it sold day one especially if you put it up on a Thursday/Friday
300-350 Might take a min to sale on craigslist but should deffinetly sale.
Then come out of pocket around 200-250 and get the G2X

I would stay away from SGS 4G if I was you because the application storage is too low for me.
G2x, on the other hand, has nearly 2GB for applications which is necessary for games (and newer applications take up to 50MB).

If you are waiting for Google Play Store, please don't wait for them. The best you can do is get free shipping or playstore credit. For retail, the price starts to come down after a few months. If it is close to Christmas, Easter or any major holidays then there are great deals to be taken.
On a new device like this, Google doesn't usually reduce the price. They may offer additional incentives for the holiday season, such as Play Store credit, free shipping, etc., but that's about it. The price won't be reduced until just before the next nexus phone is released, probably 4th quarter 2014. Of course, there's always the possibility of some crazy event affecting the norm... but I wouldn't count on it.
Phone is already cheap for what you get. Check out the Moto G for $200.

I am fine with paying $349.That is a great price for the phone. What I am trying to decide is whether to purchase it now or wait for February when I will actually get to use the phone. I want to purchase it now, so that I can have it already. However, if it it might get reduced between now and then, it would be wise to wait. In the past have the prices stayed constant until the new model came out?

I'm done with Galaxy phones too. I booted up my S4 today to update it to the new MK2 OTA update because I'm getting it ready to sell. After a few weeks with my N5 I had already forgotten what a pain in the a$$ Knox is. Never again!
I, for one, am pissed. I just got into another 2 year deal to get this phone and they are talking about it's replacement already. They should have made it known, so people could decide themselves if they want to wait.
I'm not sure where you've been but in today's smartphone market, flagship devices are lucky to last 4-6 months before they are dated. The 2 year plan is not feasible for keeping the latest smartphone.

Transparency is all I'm asking. If the phone is coming out in 2-3 months, then they already are past the planning stage and may already be in the manufacturing stage. Either way, I think it would be decent of them to layout the long term. Don't know where you are but in America these phones are expensive and tied to expensive carriers, So I would like to know all my options if the ,manufacturer already knows they're putting them out.
If that's true I'm not really mad. The way I see it is that with such a short time between releases the M9 will be only a slight improvement at most.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app
Where are you seeing information about the M9?
I don't think they need to disclose anything... There will always be a newer phone around the corner.
You know that without them announcing anything... And if you are on a 2 year contract, what is the difference if a new one comes out 6 months later, or a year later. Changes nothing.
And if you are going to play the waiting game for the next 'big thing' you'll always be waiting, as there is always a next big thing coming...
The only thing I have read about an "M9" is that they are cancelling the M8 Prime to focus on the M9 which will be released in Q1 2015......... right on schedule.
So enjoy your M8......... I know i am.
If you wait for the M9 you might as well wait for the M10. You'll only have the latest and greatest for a month or two with all the flagship phones available.
I believe I'm in the Verizon forum and if so they have the Next program. If u got it when this phone came out they had a special which basically every month what Next costs you is credited back to you so you have the Next program free! New phone can come out tomorrow for all I care and I can trade my phone in for it with $0 out of pocket. A beautiful thing for the OCD people that want the latest and greatest . Those not interested there is the standard 2yr contract plan for phones. Easy two choices so choose wisely . Don't blame the cellphone company for your choices on how u will upgrade. They have to keep up with the times to stay in business, the user doesn't have to, it's a choice.

True but unless u find a real dummy ur never gonna get back what u paid. Still going to pay at least $100 out of pocket after selling 8-14 month old device. How much does an HTC One X+ go for today compare to when it came out? Example
I'd rather pay $0 out of pocket and upgrade when I want to and still pay only $160/month for two lines with 10gb of shared data. Just need to turn s on, unroot, fix tampered banner, flash stock Rom and return device. No one knows the better .

True true. The example I use for my case though would have to be the note 2. Once that got locked up on an OTA it started selling like hot cakes. 100-150$ for a new phone is perfectly acceptable for me though. I am losing some money but the enjoyment from the phone is worth it :good:

I did this to get the DNA, SG3, SG4, M7, bought M8 on contract, still have mint M7 and mint M8 and those will be sold to fund next flagship device of my choosing to buy off contract until I have my contract ready, or a new phone is out.
Personally, for me. I think I might deviate away from the HTC One series devices unless they make some serious design changes which I do not see. I don't truly have a need for the boomsound speakers and would give those up for a regular phone speaker and a smaller phone overall. (Just imagine the M8 without the top and bottom speakers, jeez, or even without the wasted htc logo bar) - sorry for off topic.
Dude, this is HTC WAY OF OPERATING. more than the others. I know, I was a huge HTC fanboy. I bought the Sensation, then 3 months in they announce Amaze...bought the One X only to hear DNA. I THINK THEY DEVELOP TWO at a time. I left for LG with the Nexus 4 then the G2, but get this, while waiting for the G3 I bought the M8 cause I couldn't wait any longer.
I'm big enough to say NO MATTER WHAT A COMPANY DOES WITH RELEASES I'M GONNA *****....I have a problem

I don't get it man. There are talks about the m9 but that doesn't mean that it's going to be released soon. The earliest would be around January. Talks are just talks and they're more than likely leaks.

Does the M9 you speak of make your current phone any less usable? I dont understand this way of thinking. You could wait for this new phone but then again you might as well just keep waiting from now on because there's always something better down the line. Enjoy what you have.
Samsung, HTC, and Apple all release one phone a year in its line (ex Galaxy S). So the M9 in Q1 of 2015 is right on schedule. You're mad about that? I bet the iPhone 7 will be out summer 2015... Doesn't mean people won't buy the 6 this summer.

Not mad at all. Such is life in this fast-paced world of technology.
the only thing i am angry about is the stupid black htc bar what a waste of real estate. I do witsh his thing had a 5.3 inch screen. then it would be perfect. its super fast no lag and it looks cool. o ya and it has s-off
Supposedly 2 possible safe note 7's have went up in smoke and flames. I have also read that the major carriers in the US will be allowing exchanges of the now safe note 7's for something else.
Well if this is the case, what other options are on par with the note 7? Im thinking S7 edge or God forbid i go to an Iphone 7 plus. What are you guys looking at just in case or will you roll the dice and take your chances?

This is really a shame because I love my Note 7. If it is recalled again I'm thinking of the HTC 10, since my previous phone was the HTC M8 and I loved it. I would miss the s-pen ALOT, along with all the Note 7's other great features. For now I will take my chances on the replacement and hope all works out.

I just exchanged my Note 7 for the s7 edge at Sprint. I was having Bluetooth issues like others and didn't want to get stuck with the phone for another 2 years. Only crappy thing is since Best Buy wouldn't accept the phone since it's over the 14 day return policy I had to go through Sprint and they did an even swap out so technically I lost $100 since the s7 edge is less money but oh well. I'll grab another 256gb micro SD card and try to make my $100 back.

I was thinking if i had to drop down to an S7 edge and i do concider it a drop down, i will get the VR because ive already gotten the gear fit 2, i got a 256gb memory card on the way, might as well go for the trifecta....lol
I wish i could hold out on the S8 which im sure is going to be awesome or who knows the Note 8 might be the greatest of them all.

I thought the 7 was a fair compromise so i upgraded my note edge which i still have and have a 9000 mah battery for it thaf last for days.... lol. Im using it to stream ufc 204 to my tv now.....shh dont tell Dana White.....lol
But i dont know if i can go back to a lrss than top tier phone or one that is lacking a feature ive become so accustomed to.

They would but only if it was purchased through Sprint. Mine was purchased through Best Buy and Best Buy wouldn't help me at all since I was outside the 14 day return window for my "safe version 2" Note 7. Really Sprint shouldn't have let me swap out the phone but I found a manager at one of my local Sprint stores who was cool and he didn't stress where I purchased it so I lucked out.

I've got 4 days until my 14 return window with best buy is over and I'm not sure what I want to do. I love this device and downgrading to a 7 edge would be something I do not want to do, and there's really no other device that sprint has that I want right now. I guess if forced I'd go to an htc 10 simply because it's got root already and decent developer support, but I'd still be upset with having to give my note up, I love it.
The note 7 is dead. If there is a recall, I highly doubt we'll be getting another Note 7...

I'm thinking of doing the same.
The S8 will be rushed to try to put this blunder behind them and the Note 8 will probably be the greatest phone ever created in an effort to erease the past.

The s7 edge is only a "downgrade" if your set on having the S-Pen. I loved having the pen to create goofy pictures now and then but it's not a big deal. All the specs are the same with better battery life on the edge. I liked the idea of the Iris scanner but never really used it. Really the only thing I miss is the newer version of Always on display but I'm sure the edge will get it shortly.

It's only got gorilla glass 4 and and half the storage capacity, it is a downgrade, and one I definitely don't want. If I wanted a 7 edge, I'd have had one months ago. Now I'm forced to make a choice I really don't want to make. I really hope they don't scrap the note 7 entirely

This is my first Note, coming from the S6 and I am totally disappointed with all the negative media. I had no problems with the first and none, so far, with the replaced Note 7. There is no other phone that I want right now, so if forced, I'll get a refund and go back to my S6 and wait on the S8... I still have my Nexus 6P on Google Fi.

If I hadn't given my g3 to my dad when I upgraded I would do the same and wait, but I can't now, I need a phone, so I just feel like I'm going to get stuck for two years with a device I don't really want. It sucks.

It may sound crazy, but I haven't used my "upgrade" from Sprint for years. I usually by the phone outright from someone else, which was the case the with first one. That way, I'm not stuck. I usually use PayPal Credit, so no large upfront money put out.

What you guys think the price will fall too? $699?
I would say $200 off each model like last year
I jumped on the Verizon deal and saved 450 with a pixel XL.
Ordered mine from Amazon just got an updated email saying delivery a week from Monday (11/11). If the price drops within the 30 day return period, Amazon will make it right. So after $100.00 gift certificate and hopefully another $200.00 Black Friday the phone will be worth what it should cost. ($699.00)

I don't think Google will give you anything off.. well maybe a hundred or two but that's it. The carriers on the other hand will give you half off, no trade in required although perhaps another line added. But then you run the risk of bootloader locked, carrier locked for 60 days or more and being locked into 2 years of service because you only get a monthly credit over two years. But there should be some BF leaks in the coming weeks so you never know. At this point you might as well wait and see since it's only a few weeks.
I'm holding out with fingers crossed! ??

I don't think they'll make the same mistake as last year. And piss people off who pre-ordered again. Plus the pixel 4 is widely available. All carriers and big box stores are selling it. Pixel 3 last year was a very poor seller. So in that case it was a supply-and-demand thing.. my wife got a pre-order verizon 4xl for 450 dollars off. I jumped on a unlocked one at Best buy with $100 gift card. Both those deals lasted a week. And I don't think Black Friday will match them.
Hopefully I'm wrong either way I don't regret my decision to pre-order this time.
They'll probably have the exact same deals as last year at this time. Here in PR the phone has been out since launch and AT&T, Best Buy, and most T-Mobile stores haven't even put out a demo unit. Only one T-Mobile store had it out for display and the sales clerks told me that it's practically invisible. People look at it and ask where the Note or iPhones are. Go to the Google Store and the smaller phones (except maybe the not so orange, although I'm not sure) never sold out.
Google knows it has to be aggressive, the s11 will be out in a few months and the Pixel will already be yesterday's news, unfortunately.
I remember when the Nexus phones had the fastest chip and processor because they waited until the end of the year to get the latest and greatest and everyone else played catch up. Now it's the other way around. It's a damn shame.
All that said, I'm definitely getting one as soon as I see the deals out there for Black Friday.

They made the same "mistake" with the Pixel 2, though the sale was only $100 of if I recall. And more sellers competing and more availability means better sales. THAT is supply and demand.
Returned mine. When the deals show up maybe I'll buy again. Unfortunately for me it was too much for not enough that matters to me (motion sense is a gimmick I'll never use). Obviously everyone's situation is different.

Pixel 3xl is still a great phone. I still have it. Although for the price and features I bought the 7T after returning the 4xl. It's close enough to the pixel for me and I saved a considerable amount of money.
In the end Google wants to charge premium prices, but always cut corners somewhere happens every year. 4xl will be a great phone I'm sure just probably the first pixel I'll not own.

I was looking at that 7t, but not having wireless charging is a deal breaker for me. It’s like having a flip phone all over again. lol
Every phone I’ve had since 2012 has had wireless charging, starting with the Verizon exclusive, Droid DNA. Then LG’s G2, G4, Samsung’s S8, S9, Note 9, and now current LG v30.
