Request: Screen-Off Memo feature for NOTE 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Themes and Apps

Any chance on getting this feature?

In fact any chances of getting note 5 rom port
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

Adding Spen features from note 5 would be better instead of porting the complete rom and fixing all the bugs and still there happens some bugs.

Post Memo
Samsung has an app called Post Memo on Google Play. It does what screen off memo does - open up when spen is taken out when the screen is off.

Sorry to hear that. I've been using it for more than a year and never have a problem with it. Maybe try to contact the developer? There are some others who have the same problem with you in the reviews.

GNote - Note taking application (8/11/2012)

I created this application out of my need as I used S Memo for taking notes, meeting minutes and using the widgets as the sticky notes. I found memo to be the closest one but widgets was broken and I decided to create a new application based on SPen SDK 2.1
Features of GNote
1. Multiple widgets which remains even after reboot. Widgets are updated as soon as the corresponding note is edited.
2. Multiple pages with easy navigation
3. Update existing widgets note
4. Simple toolbar which can be hidden.
5. Notes Gallery for managing notes. (image of the first page of the note is shown in notes gallery)
6. Notes Gallery - Multiple notes can be deleted.
7. Images from gallery and camera can be added to the note.
8. Settings - option to disable back key
9. Settings - option to disable finger touch.
10.It remembers last used pen and eraser settings and uses the same when the app is launched next time.
11. Very smooth and does not lag.
12. Clicking on the title bar of widget opens a new note
13. Clicking on the body of the widget opens the note corresponding to the widget.
Compatible with ICS and JB.
Change Log
0.2
1. Add Images from camera and gallery
2. Layout changes to improve user experience
3. Added Settings and about screens
0.3
1. Background colors can be added to the notes. The same will be applicable to the widgets
2. Settings - Left Hand (Please report if not working fine)
3. Settings - Option to enable/disable pinch zoom
4. Notes Gallery now shows the count of pages in each note.
5. Note is saved without any confirmation. Further, you can save the note on demand using the save button. Note is saved when you navigate to some other activity or on exit of the application.
6. Some Icons changed (still a WIP).
7. Saves the notes faster. reduced the saving time by 50%.
an many insignificant fixes.
0.4
1. Note can be shared now
2. Note can be exported as a png image
3. Text can be added to the note
4. Tool tips are added to the toolbar buttons
5. Selected tool is highlighted in white(applicable to pen, eraser and text)
6. reverted the icons to holo light theme
7. Minor Bug fixes
If you find any bug please report it here. Do not forget to mention the Rom on which you are. Do not report bug if used other than galaxy note
You can donate to me by using about dialog from the application or from here. Donations are not necessary and will not have any effect on the development of the application.
Special Thanks to
g_aquarian for donation
Thanks to Devmil for his color chooser.
Please press thanks if you like my application. At least I deserve that

Is there any way to upload the free apk to google play store without paying the initial amount of 25$.
Can You implement: write with pen and erase with finger?
Gesendet von meinem Transformer Prime TF201 mit Tapatalk 2
Like the app, very useful! It would be nice if we could change the background color of the widget and maybe try to steamline the widget title bar, it takes up space. All in all really like it and see a lot of potential!!
Thank you!
Marty
Customization and Background colors will come later as I need to tackle some of the basic stuffs like image and text. All suggestions than can improve user experience are welcome and are potential candidates for future releases.

Nope.
Be aware that someone can do it before you and "steal" your app by this way.
There were some cases like that in the past.
Anyway, subscribing to the thread :good:

I would have paid $25 but Indian users cannot sell paid apps currently on market and there is no way for me to regain those $25. Do you know any other alternate site where I can upload my application.
If i'm not totally wrong, you can upload your app to the Play Store, but you can't sell it. It has to be free. Or if you want to sell apps on the Play Store, you'll have to find a person (that you trust 110%) who can sell your app(s) on your behalf.

I searched a lot but the only answer I get is pay $25 and upload free or paid apps. Since, this application is free, its best for me to host it on XDA.
Have a disclaimer after installation which says "this app is free. If you bought yours, get a refund now." or something. XD
WOW!
really great application especially the lag-less writing with the pen. very impressive! even on the note cm10 preview
thanks very much
I think this should be part of CM 10 for note when it's ready. not of the ugly play store
the delete with finger idea is not that good I think - cause when I write I tend to touch the screen with my Palm rest accidently...
what i would like to See is an Option to disable the touchscreen and/or the back touch-Button --- so that just the pen is working
thanks again

Let me know the ROM and Device model? and have you selected installation of non market applications from settings/security.
It is original 2.3.6, not rooted, nonmarket apps have been already installed.

[CM9][APP]FloatNote - Simple note-taking app in a floating window for the Galaxy Note

I've been playing around with Mark Wei's splendid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688531StandOut library and thought I'd share one app I've been finding useful.
It's very basic and very beta.
FloatNote v1.0.4b
Edit:
Thought I better provide some info
This app is very simple. It floats on top of other windows and lets you scribble notes or little sketches.
I wrote it for me and my phone so I know it runs okay on a Galaxy Note under cm9.
It's written for the galaxy note stylus so pressure increases pen stroke width and the side button gives you the eraser.
Select ink colour by swiping your stylus along the rainbow thing on the titlebar (the title text shows the selected colour). Click the sidebutton when touching the rainbow to return to black.
It autosaves your note and autoloads it when the app opens again.
Resize the window with the triangle in the bottom right corner.
I'm using the android native API so it may work okay(ish) on other devices. If it does, let me know.
Enjoy...
Nikad
Latest Update:
Version 1.0.9b
Changelog:
Major rewrite - had to do away with Mark's standout library and reimplement some of its functionality.
Hide and restore from the notification bar
Share note with other apps, email, etc
Saves position, size and pen colour.
Lots of bug fixes and improvements in performance/reliability
Important:
This app requires API Level 14 or higher to detect the stylus so you need ICS.
There are known issues running under Touchwiz so stick with a CM9/CM10 variant.
Know to run okay on the Galaxy Note International, I717 and the HTC Flyer.
If anyone runs it on other devices I'd love to know!

No quick launch yet, sorry
If you've ran the app already, you can launch it from your recent apps. But...
Improvements in mind include being able to hide the window and then show it when you click on the notification (I had this on an earlier alpha and just need to add it back in).
Multi-page note: support for more than one page.
Share note (with whatever).
I'm not going to go too heavy on functionality though. The idea was to be simple and uncluttered.
Thanks for you interest...

New version on its way. Just going through last testing and tweaking so maybe tonight/tomorrow morning.
Ended up doing a major rewrite just to provide a small amount of additional functionality. But it's all good! It even ended up smaller.
We now have an app that will hide and restore from the notification bar, can share the image with other apps and loads of reliability improvements.
I haven't had a chance yet to run it on other devices or on stock roms so all I can say is it works on the Galaxy Note under CM9.

I'm glad you like it. Thanks.
If you're on a call, just pull down the status bar and click on the notification. It's a bit of an illusion that it's "hidden". Really the app is shut down and relaunched when you click the restore notification.
By the way, I see you running a stock rom. Does TouchWiz not cause problems with FloatNote?
Thanks again for your interest!
Ok. That makes sense. I can restore it from the notification bar if it is hidden.. only thing the app must be up and running before that..
I do not use Touichwiz when there are great lauchers namely Nova these days.. It has been some time since I went back to TW
I use float to be called in one of the gesture of NOVA which is great. You would do a scrolling option on the screen if possible. That will help me add longer notes rather than extending the window,,
Thanks. :good:
Working great on RocketRom v10!
Having an issue parsing the package.
Will try again via desktop soon.
Good work!
I love such stuff
EDIT:
Sorry!
I was half asleep and didn't see that it is for CM9.
Please forgive me!:silly:

[APP][4.2+] Daydream Launcher

Ever wanted to launch that fancy Daydream screensaver easier? In your Android 4.2+ device's settings, you are only given the options to launch Daydream while docked or while charging.
Now, there is an easier way simply to launch Daydream, right from your home screen, no matter if you are docked, charging, or neither. Just press the icon, and Daydream will start.
I have heard a few people ask for such a shortcut, so I made this; if you have any suggestions or problems to report, please let me know. Also, this is ad-free and requires no permissions.
Google Play link: http://bit.ly/XuPPmv
Also, if you want the source, I will look into putting that up somewhere, too, but it really is a simple shortcut application.
Last thing: if anybody wants to make the feature and/or promo graphics for the app on Google Play, post them here, and I will probably use them.
I hope this shortcut helps somebody out there!

Thanks for the nice comments, guys.
I know this is no excuse, but I have been really busy. However, I got going this week, and have looked into adding more features.
The popular request seems to be for the daydream to start when the screen becomes idle. Well, I have included that, kind of. Some of the features I have added were hard to do, given the way that daydream was set up by Google. There will be a Daydream Launcher Plus app for 99 cents on Google Play that includes many new features and will help to further my development. Also, the current free app will be getting a minor performance update. I hope you enjoy whichever app you choose to use! And, I love all feedback, good and bad (but constructive ).
Have fun, XDAers!

Edit: just changed my "car" profile in my profile settings to screen timeout "never", so that I guess easily enough solves it

I know this is an older post but wanted to point out that modern led screens are very very hard to burn and it would take years n years of a solid non moving image to burn in, long after you would have retired most phones. Have you ever seen an image burned into any phone?

I have the Samsung Captivate with the Super AMOLED screen. Apparently some image burn in can occur, as I set power amp music player screen to not turn off when playing, and after not even that much use (maybe more than i realized), leaving it on in the car sometimes, now when it's a solid screen, such as solid grey, I can lightly see the buttons (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.) burned in, so wanted to avoid further burn in.
Great app
I just try it and can say that is great app. It is be more better if you make that daydream app start when screen in idle. That be perfect. Thanks again for your work.

[APP] Screen Off Memo [Update: 21 Sept 2015]

It's been a while but here is another app I would like to share with those still using the Note 3 like me while waiting for the Note 6 perhaps.
Screen Off Memo is a feature I like on the Note 5 and so I decided to make one for my Note 3. I have not held a Note 5 yet so I don't know how the screen off memo works except what I saw on video reviews so the app may not be as perfect but it works for what I need it for. Any feedback would be welcome.
UPDATE - 21 Sept 2015
- fixed some issues with spen detachment starting the app even when unlocked
- toned the brightness of the icons as well as the pen strokes to reduce glare and offer more readability
- fixed issue with pen thickness in the v1.2 (some users like it thicker - I might include some settings to set user prefs in the future)
- adding new notes will trigger separate notification
Hopefully the issue specially on the Note 4/Edge has been solved.
Screen Off Memo version 1.3 can be downloaded below.
Install and RUN at least once from the app drawer so the app will be registered for the broadcast action when spen is detached. To enable the app to lock the screen when spen is attached, you must activate/enable it in Settings>Security>Device Administrator.
Based on user feedback I have retained the simplicity of the app. Just added ability to add new memo. Changed some icons for simpler ones. Cleaned up the code a bit to make it run faster and as little footprint as possible. Added option to turn off screen when pen is attached. And of course, it would now run on most Note devices (API 19 & above).
The app would also run on other Galaxy devices without spen but only when launched from the app drawer. But I am trying to find a way to trigger on the lockscreen maybe via a floating button but still a work in progress. I may work on it if there is demand but otherwise might just focus on the Note series.
At the moment I am testing an immersive mode version where no virtual buttons on the screen... just a whole screen of black space to doodle on and using sensors to toggle pen and eraser or the toolbar. Still a work in progress though but we'll see....
Anyway have fun and still your suggestions are welcome. But please keep the thread on topic.
It is a free app but please don't redistribute it nor modify it for redistribution. I don't mind if you include it in a ROM as long as the info page is intact.
Credits: BIG THANKS to @and2, @swiss420 and some others I don't know their xda usernames for their support.
Installed it on my note 3 but it just crashes when tried to open app.
If you're trying to make it work like note 5 then it should work when you pull your s-pen out while the screen is off.
And you can start writing on the screen and save it to memo app or note app.
Tried this app but it didn't work will wait to try it out if updated to new version. I don't know how to give you crash log. Sorry.
Nice Try @xperiacle
Edit - I got it working by changing my model number in build.prop SM-N9005

One issue I have is that when I try to reach that note in S Note, I have to pull it down, open in action memo, and then click the S Note icon on the bottom right part of action memo to open it in S Note. Is it possible to make it simpler, so that just clicking in S Note would open it in S Note?
@xperiacle I missed your genius mate. Thank you. Just a question is it possible to start the app while the screen is off or don´t i just find it? Or because i use the Note 5 Air Command?
Do you have a bit more time now? I think i´ll buy a Note Edge and wait for the Note 7 maybe there is again a sd card slot and i wanne play with the edge.

Suggestion, would that be possible to prevent the screen to wake up when the S pen is dettached and re-attached back? Like in this video [emoji14]

I have not held a Note 5 yet so I don't know how the screen off memo works except what I saw on video reviews so the app may not be as perfect but it works for what I need it for. Any feedback would be welcome.
Just download below and install. No root required.

I tried it on a SG Note Edge 5.01. but is not working correctly. I install it and when I remove the SPen the app opens for 1-2 secs and it closes. I don't know if this could be fixed somehow.

I think the Screen Off Memo of the Note 5 does not actually mean the screen is off. It is ON but samsung designed the screen off memo app to run before the lockscreen shows up and on exit turns the screen off at the same time. We get the impression that it is off because of the black theme used which is true black on amoled screens. Samsung can do this because it can tweak framework/system code the way it likes and since it is a system app it has almost all the system level permissions to control the device lockscreen. My Screen Off Memo app does not have the system level access to control lockscreen waking up or turning off so to answer your question, NO I don't think it is possible for the app to run with screen actually off.
I also made a clone of the Note 5 Air Command with more shortcuts but I am still polishing it. Will share when I am satisfied with it.
In case you get the Note Edge, I made some edge panel apps that I have not released yet. Just let me know and I will send them to you.

One issue I have is that when I try to reach that note in S Note, I have to pull it down, open in action memo, and then click the S Note icon on the bottom right part of action memo to open it in S Note. Is it possible to make it simpler, so that just clicking in S Note would open it in S Note?

Well saving and opening it directly in Snote app is possible. I am not sure how many users would want the app to behave that way but depending on the number of feedback then I might do it that way in the next update.

Suggestion, would that be possible to prevent the screen to wake up when the S pen is dettached and re-attached back? Like in this video

NO that is unfortunately not possible for a third-party app. See my reply to and2 above.

Can you describe what the difference is between the old notes feature and the new notes feature? Are you talking about how when you take the s-pen out it lets you take notes on the lock screen?

No, its the new Notes app on the Note 7, they have consolidated Action Memo, Scrapbook and SNote into one app.

I downloaded one of the Grace UX Note 7 ports for the Note 4, copied the folder for the new note app over to /system/apps/ rebooted, works perfect, although it feels a bit redundant... Like a watered down s-note app mixed with google keep.
NOTE: it is intended for Android 6. Haven't tried it on anything lower.
The latest version is also now on apkmirror.com
Installed on my 915FY unrooted, works flawless. But I can't find the feature to import pdf-files. Any clue?
