I have the Korean F350S version, with Android 4.4.2. It's rooted.
I was using CCleaner, going through the long list of apps to delete. including system apps. For whatever reason, I deleted "phone". and now this thing won't get any bars, make any calls, or any texts.
I guess I deleted the basic "phone hardware" function...LOL. I thought I was just deleting the homescreen app that the user interacts with to use the phone. ARGH!
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer, and Undeleter. I got Undeleter to recognize and recover 39 .apk files to a file on the SD card, but most of the recovered files just have numbers for names. I have no idea what the files are for.
Is it possible to reinstall the basic phone software to get my cell phone calling again WITHOUT reinstalling the whole system from scratch?
If I did indeed erase the phone software (system app), would a system recovery even be a solution?
Since you have a f350 why dont flash d838ish stock rom
I was kind of hoping I didn't have to go through that right now, since the phone worked fine.
Is that the only solution?
I have gone beyond the needs of this thread, and have posted a new thread about needing to enter recovery mode . The phone will not enter recovery mode using button presses.
Hi guys, I recently rooted my Android device then removed some bloatware and also the built-in launcher (carefree - Ami launcher), then removed the root.
I am using now nova launcher as the default and all is working fine.
Should I move nova apk to /system/app? Or just let it like it is now?
I am afraid of bricking my phone in the future.
(Rebranded equivalent to Blu Vivo Air.)

I accidentally deleted my launcher application while messing around in Titanium backup. My phone was getting hung up on the Samsung boot screen when I tried to restart it. I have now tried a factory reset, and the phone now boots to a black screen, I can receive calls and texts but can't access anything manually. I tried installing from the web market but that is not working. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated....I am desperate.
Edit: Also I can't mount my phone for some reason x_x

If you do a hard reset, you can restore the whole system. Deleting the launcher while booted in Android won't delete anything from the ROM and can be restored that way. But if you don't mind using a different launcher, you can load an apk of your desired launcher on the card and then find a way to get into any screen that will let you get to a file manager. Then you can install the launcher from the apk you loaded on the card. Mess around with the buttons and see if you can't pull up any screen that will eventually get to a file manager.

I did a hard reset, but now it has the same problem - no launcher. It is just a black screen. I played around with it for a long while before coming here trying to figure out any way to get into any menus etc...but nothing.
If you had your device in debugging mode, then you can always download an alternative launcher such as launcherpro on your computer, put it in your platform tools directory and install it through adb. If you need further help with this post your comments and I will read them later and reply.

P.s. if this helped press the thanks button
hard reset doesn't fix apps in system partition, so you can't restore without adb to push a new launcher.

What process did you use to "hard reset"? And which phone do you have?

Is the phone rooted?
Do you have a custom kernel with CWM recovery?
If you do, you should be able to install the launcher using cwm.
There's a specific forum for your phone in XDA. You might find answers there to.
Had same problem, now fixed
Although I have a g2x and I'm running a 2.3.4 rom, this should still work. I did the same exact thing to my phone. I had my wife send me an email (gmail) with a link to google in it. When I recieved the notification, I swiped down, opened email, clicked link, then searched "Go Launcher EX apk download". Once I found a good download for this launcher and downloaded it, I was good to use my phone again. Piece of cake

Hey i'm a noobie but i have a 100% way on how to fix your problem i was once too in that situation and all i did was enter recovery mode (no cwm/twrp) factory reset 2x, clear cache 2x and "Rebooted" When i was in setup wizard it asked me to set up my gmail account. Wifi is recommended but 3G/4G is also fine. If on wifi it will not connect to google servers but instead give you the option to connect to wifi. Connect to your wifi and finish the setup. When your at the black screen you should get a notification for updates on the play store. Tap on it and it SHOULD take you to the play store. After that search the desired launcher you want. (ADW Launcher, LauncherPro, Go Locker etc.
Hey guys,
Dont get me wrong, im pretty much a noob myself Nowadays alot of developement is going on with the new ROMS, till they are finished I needed a stable ROM and I have to admit nothing is better than good old stock 2.1, but to get it in useable condition you do have to do some tinkering. This guide is aimed at people who have just rooted their phones and want to know what they can do, or for people who want new ideas if they are going back to stock 2.1. Its just a collection of things I do, when I flash stock 2.1.
Please be aware, that although these instructions are accurate to my knowledge, sometimes there are problems, so do not try this if you dont feel comfortable with any of the instructions.
1. Which SBF?
The stock cincinnati bell 2.1 is the most current and the most updated version of all the SBF's. Unless you are uprading to a new ROM which require another type of base SBF this is the way to go for 2.1. It makes no regional differences that I know off, you may have to put in your APN settings. Reasons for using this SBF is, first its the most updated, most stable and reportedly has best camera quality of all the SBF's, plus it is set to 720 MHZ by default. The SBF code is:
Code:
STR_U2_04.1E.1_SIGNED_USASHLSTAB14P2XAPCNCBW039.0R_NACBW_P011_A006_HWp3_1FF.sbf
2. How to Root?
Once you have flashed your SBF, using either RSD lite in windows or sbf_flash in linux, the easiest way to root is using the universal androot app. Install the app on your phone, open the app and click the root button. A little heads up here, you need to be connected to either wifi or the data network before you use the app because to root the phone the app uses an exploit which requires wifi to be toggled. If it isnt on, it will not work. With the wifi on, press root and you're done. The newest stable UniversalAndroot can be found at this link.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32033772/UniversalAndroot_1.6.1.apk
3. What can I do after rooting?
First of all you can install Open Recovery + Androidiani Recovery. What these are, are custom recoveries with which you can make nandroid backups, wipe reset your phone and cache and apply neat tweaks to make your phone work better on 2.1. To install open recovery download the openrecovery.apk from the following link.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32033772/OpenRecovery.apk
Install the openrecovery app. And reboot your phone once. After the reboot, connect your phone to the PC and create a folder called nandroid and inside that creat a folder called openrecovery. And place it into the root of the SD card.
Code:
nandroid>>openrecovery
Disconnect your phone from the PC. Now open the openrecovery app. And press install recovery. A superuser request will appear. Allow it and open recovery will install on your phone and create the neccessary folders on your SD card. Now connect your phone to the PC its time to install androidiani recovery. Download the Androidiani recovery here.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32033772/OpenRecovery-3_3.zip
Unzip the file. You will see one folder and one update file. Copy the folder and paste it into the root of your SD card. You will notice that the computer will prompt you because there is already an open recovery folder in your SD card. Allow the computer to replace, the old folder with the new one that you are pasting. Then copy the update.zip and just place it in the root of your SD card. You are all set and have installed openrecovery.
What can I do with Androidiani?
Turn off your phone. Now press the volume up button and keep it pressed, while pressing the power on button. The phone will boot into androidiani recovery. Use the volume keys to navigate up and down in the menu and use the camera button to select an option. You will see numerous options in androidiani. The first thing to do is go in the Eclair Modding menu.
I usually do the following things.
1) Install memhack: This moves your /cache folder and allow for lots of apps to be installed so your 173 mb app space will not limit you, which is usually why people want to move to froyo in the first place.
2) Install JITV7
3) Eclair Kernel Modification: This installs busy box and increases functionality.
4) Zipalign Apps. This allows less ram to be consumed when you use apps. I usually zipallign system wide.
Reboot your phone normally, after mods are complete.
4. System app removal?
Useless system apps can safely be removed to make space for more apps. I install titanium backup from the market and use it to uninstall apps. Here is the list of apps I usually remove safely.
1. Gestures.apk (Motorola sign gestures, useless app never used it)
2. Corporate Calender
3. Corporate Directory
4. Quickoffice Trial
5. Kickback
6. Soundback
7. TalkBack
8. MotoAccuweather.
5,6,7 are accesibility apps which can easily be redownloaded from the market. Accuweather isnt accurate and I have the stock AOSP geniewidget which is so much more sexier. Ill give the links to those.
GenieWeather & News 2.1: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32033772/GenieWidget2.apk
Another app I install is the desk clock which is missing in 2.1:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/32033772/DeskClock.apk.
Okay once system apps are removed. What rooted apps can you use. There are many. Ill just state what I use when I newly Flash.
1) Root explorer, very good for navigation etc.
2) Market Enabler, i use it to install google+ and other apps not avaible in my country.
3) Battery Calibration, everytime you flash a new ROM its good reset your battery Stats.
5. Finally
You can just use your phone as usual. If your phone number format is different because of the US SBF, just choose a different language in keyboard and locale. Itll fix your dialer format.
I choose to not overclock. With wifi on 24/7 and autosync. A few odd phone calls, sms's, 1 hour of GPS when I walk, some gaming, and 2 hours of music. I get an average of 1.5-2 days battery life with this setup. My SD card is formatted completely to FAT32. After installing all my apps, and games. I have 102 MB remaining internal memory.
Hope this has been useful to anyone. Please feel free to make additions.
this is good. something ive been looking for. was on stock rom for a month rooted. very stable but was itching to try out cm6 so i did. ive tried deleting voice dialler with titanium backup but it was kind of not supposed to be deleted because android kept telling me "voice dialler force closed" and i couldnt do anything else so i restored it back. i dont need or want voice dialler. and it also keeps running as a service. any way to stop it?

Before you ever delete any system apps, you should use TB to freeze them first and see if once you do it causes any ill effects. If not, then uninstall but you can always back up so if you ever want it back, Viola there it is.
The other day I did one really dumb taboo thing everyone knows not to do. I was messing with my phone at 1:30 am doing stupid unproductive things. and then bam, I deleted LG Home. without this I can't go to the homescreen. I backed the apk up but I don't know where to access this. using root unistaller.
Somehow by going to the factory reset screen I managed to make it possible for me to boot the phone back up, only still there is no home screen. I can use google voice to make calls and send texts and emails. But I have no app folder or settings and I am quite a noob.
could Someone either tell me how to reinstall LG Home or get a rom that works back onto my phone. Any solution would be great.

It´s LGHome.apk and LGHome.odex from 21D
well I have the P925g, my brother has the same model. I was thinking I could simply copy the files from his phone into the appropriate folder. Would anyone be able to tell me where I could copy these files from/to? If i could do this I'm sure it would work.

System/app
If you're rooted
Sent from my CM7 Thrill
Well I'm not to sure If it is rooted anymore. I erased all my user data, but I did not factory reset. I'll be checking later if i can access those files. But I'll have to access them via USB connection to my computer. My brothers phone where I'll copy the files from is not rooted so I'm not sure if I can copy them from him or not. I'm going to see what more I can do for my phone tommorow. I hate when this happens. The last time I bricked my phone I couldn't even get to the factory reset screen.
Now that I can get to the factory reset screen I don't even see much use in it because the factory reset option doesn't work like I would have expected. If you can even factory reset through that screen is a mystery to me because I could not get it to work. Every time I tried to initiate factory reset it just went back in the menu and no other button seamed to initiate factory reset. I feel like I'm over looking a lot of options here that I just wouldn't think of trying because of my lack of knowledge here.
I'm very dissapointed in myself and in LG right now.
So I,ve found that I already have the lghome.apk backed up on my phone. but as I cannot go to the homescreen or view files and folders on my phone I'm wondering how I will even launch the apk.
I can still use google voice commands to to other tasks like read emails. is there a way I can access my file system or the market through this?
NVM I checked I don't think it's possible. I cannot use the apk to reinstall the apk because I do not have a home screen or any apps that could open this. even my settings aren't working. and clockwork mod only bricked my phone. so i cannot install rom manager and did not.

If you can get into settings, enable USB Debugging Mode.
Then upload LGHome.apk to the forums.
If you could access your emails then you have data connectivity. Why not open market.android.com on your pc log into your google account and install some launcher through it...
Where is the problem to flash this file through cmd ?

or build another update.zip with adwlauncher.apk in it.
Hey everyone,
My friend gave me his tab p1000... but I cannot seem to remove apps or even google user account even after i have:
- Reset the phone
- Flashed stock rom v5 ROM with ODIN (with repartition and also flashed dbdata).
- I also tried NAND Erase All, which soft bricked the tab but i was able to get it back.
Even with all this, all the apps are still there.. when the tab loads up.
The Apps keep crashing every minute though.. so they are not stable.
--- Things Note:
1.
After flashing stock rom, when it enters recovery i get the following errors:
part(1): Checksum error
MMC verification failed
and
cannot find: /preload/app folder
2.
There are some weird files under the internal memory root folder that cannot be deleted.
Well you can delete them but they come right back up when you remount the internal drive(16gb).
Also the application folders cannot be deleted.. they reappear once you remount the internal drive.
the files are:
- Copy of Shortcut to (1/2/3/4).lnk
- glweax.exe
- glweax.scr
- x.exe
- xxx.dll
- zjroic.exe
- zjroic.scr
-xjdqob.exe
3.
There is an app called - Perfect Applock - that might have something to do with this.. Not sure.
I have read in forums, to put the phone in flight mode and restart it, then try to go to app manager within 30sec to uninstall the app.
i tried that but it still doesnt work. the App still exists..
btw, i have also tried removing the apps via app manager, that doesnt work. although it says sucessfully uninstalled.
when you reboot the tab, all the apps are present.
4.
I installed root app using superoneclick so that i can install a root explorer app - but it kept crashing.
---
My guess, is that there is a virus, or something that is recreating the apps. or not granting access to where the apps are stored (guessing in /preload/app).
i have read forums and some people said it might be a faulty internal storage.. i did the checks(some commands using adb) to verify but it was negative.
so i dont think the internal storage is bad.
Right now i am stuck... the tab has stock rom v5 installed right now.. not rooted and with 3e recovery.
any help will be greatly appreciated.. thank you in advance.
you are in wrong device section.... go to this Samsung Galaxy Tab section for better help
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=752
btw, those file that you mention is a virus... so check your pc.. it might already infected your pc with it...
So I bought one of these babies from an online Chinese website, after using it for a while, I noticed a few random apps here and there would keep installing themselves (emoji flashlight being one in particular) . I decided to scan for viruses and wouldn't you know it, there were quite a few of the trojan variety. anyway, so i decided to do a factory reset and then I installed malwarebytes to do a scan and what do you know, theres a trojan attached to a couple of the built in system apps (contacts and file manager) which unfortunately I cannot delete, only disable.
So the next step I thought was to do a clean install but it seems to be the case the phone must be rooted before this can happen - and being an obscure brand (Protruly v10s) theres nothing in the way of a guide for rooting for this particular model, or indeed even manufacturer.
so i was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts how to best manage the situation going forward, is disabling the infected apps enough or is the case the apps need to be deleted, and if so, what steps can i take to get this to happen.
thanks

Apk apps on file manager
Have the same issue here. Even after deleting each apk in the file manager and reset the phone. The apps keeps coming back. You can also see the apps in the file manager by using esfile manager. Select phone memory and search apk. It will show all the apps that is automatically installing in the phone. Try to delete it but it is like an ai monster it keeps respawning. Hope there are experts that can help us in these issues.

The only options I can think of are:
1) find some way to root the device and remove the problem apps completely from system.
2) if the stock firmware is available for the device, you can try downloading the firmware then extracting the firmware to get access to its content, then remove the problem apps from the firmware then repackage the modified firmware and flash it, it should no longer have the problem apps after flashing.
3) if the original firmware isn't available, you can try finding a compatible firmware from a device with the exact same hardware and try that firmware, if that firmware also has apps that are virus/trojan, remove them before you flash the firmware.

Also, if you're uninstalling the apps but they keep coming back after you reset the device, that seems to suggest that there is a hidden partition on your device that contains a copy of the system apps and it keeps restoring them from that partition when you reset the device. I have a Azpen A 750 tablet that does the same thing, I can uninstall the apps and they stay gone until I factory reset the device, then those apps come back.
It's kinda the same as the process on a Windows laptop that has a recovery partition containing a copy of your Windows system then using the "restore to factory defaults" option to reset the PC.
