Galaxy s6 Scratched Home Button out of box! - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I am have seen some other complaints about the scratched home buttons on the galaxy s6 out of the box. Mine has this but is pretty small. I was just wondering if I should go back to the store and get a replacement. Thanks! I have uploaded an image to show you.
Here is link to image tinyurl.com/gs6img

Had that same problem on the Note 4 I had took it back got it replaced, when your paying alot out for a Smartphone you expect it to be perfect condition when buying new out of the box.

Thanks! I'm just trying to see if it is worth it to get it replaced for that small scuff on the home button. Everything else on the phone is perfect.

My galaxy smashed onto the road surfacing

Hi everybody,
today ain't a good day for me.
My phone just smashed accidentally onto the road, after it had slipped from my hands. I was on the second floor (about 6 meter).
SBAM.
The impact was terrible, as you can see in the photos.
The "SAMSUNG" sign was completely turned into smithereens, and the fragments of glass were arrived up to the mainboard.
Despite that, I am trying to repair it.
I have just disassembled the entire device and I am planning to buy the front panel (+ lcd).
The question is: how can I know if the device still works ? Any idea?
What would you suggest?
I suggest you save money for a new phone..
You post make me sad
I don't believe, that you will find somebody that would be brave to check if this stuff still work. As you have on above post, the cheaper will be to buy new one... :fingers-crossed:
thank you all.
ARGH...I know, it's a pity, this wasn't supposed to happen
I'll save money for a new phone, yeah. I believe I don't have other choises (buying a new lcd is too expensive).
Thank you again, fellows!
well damn......that makes me sad and I have to say i dropped mine a lot of times,i have even trown it when i was angry but i can say that a few side scratches and back case scratched is all that's on it...lucky I used my momax case i guess.still i don't recommend it if you guys want to keep your back phone case free of scratches
i think is cheaper to buy a new smartphone than to repair and/or replace the screen
so sad:crying:
Bury him

the screen will cost quite abit if im not mistaken. not worth the trouble as well. just get a new phone
Also, are you sure that the screen is the only thing that's broken? A drop from that height is more than enough to break the motherboard.

90 dollar for a replacement screen. But I guess that's just the front glass, you also broke the back.
Ye, a galaxy nexus seems fine, or maybe a motorola defy+ if you want something cheaper, it's just 200 now, almost the same specs as the galaxy s and it's meant for heavy use as you still see the screws...Seeing the damage you can cause, it's probably fit for you.

Been through 4 Galaxy S4's already. I think I need to move on now

I have never had this much bad luck with a smart phone before. I don't know whats going on. But i've been though 5 Galaxy S4's and every single one had some soft of issue.
1. bought the S4 from Telus: The phone had wifi connectivity issues. It would drop wifi and reconnect constantly. Returned to Telus.
2. Exchanged S4 from Telus: The phone had scratches on the right bezel and my OCD kicked in. This time I got a refund.
3. Bought S4 from EZ Connect (wholesalers): I bought the black version and immediately noticed a gap on top of the phone, between the screen and the bezel. wide enough to slide a card between. Returned
4. Bought S4 from EZ Connect again: The bezel on right wasn't flush to phone. There was a sort of bump near the power button.
So I don't know if All S4's have some small quality issue - or maybe EZ Connect wholesalers are selling faulty batches. I am at a loss
I wouldn't be surprised. But honestly, if build quality is that important to you over features, then I sincerely believe you'll prefer the HTC One.
Errr No. Ridiculous to think that all S4's have defects. There are millions of S4's dude, not all have issues. Mine is flawless. Sounds like you have some issues lol But seriously, any phone can have defects and I've seen posts just like yours with various different phones right down to iPhones. People going through like 5 or more phones because of a small nick here and there.
Well I do have OCD issues. I guess I expect a brand new phone to be in perfect condition. No nicks, scratches on bezels, uneven casing...
I think you should go with htc one if you are so worried with this details

This is perfectly fine. I have been through 4 google play edition galaxy s4's. All had issues that bothered me. Luckily my last one is good. For the insane prices phones go for these days, or having to chain up to a 2 year contract, You should not expect anything less than perfect.
All those "defective" returned devices supposedly hurt the merchant or manufacturer, and that is fine because eventually it leads to samsung learning they are losing cash with people returning many devices due to their poor quality control.
The One has build and quality control issues as well, maybe even more than the S4 coz HTC has QC issues. So do inspect the phone properly when you buy. The One has had issues like gaps in the body and construction between plastic and metal, metal and screen, scratches coz its a metal body, etc

Never buy and accept a brand new phone if the case stickers are teared.
every brand has this sort of thing, its always about luck with these devices

You're just simply unlucky.
Chances are, they aren't giving you new sets. It's common for retailers to repackage returns and sell them as new. A shady practice but still widespread. This is why most retailers always make a point to check that an item is resalable when you return stuff.

The i9505 I got from Clove had the bump near the power button too. Took a loss and sold it.
Visited lots of Futureshop, Bestbuy, Telus, Rogers, Bell and Wireless Waves stores. Perfect units were few and far between. Most units I saw have gaps between the screen and bezel on the side. The Fido i337m I have now, the gap's bigger on it than the phone I had before. It is what it is.

Doo you recommend this phone?

Thinking of buying this phone since its cheaper now and has all up to date features from samsung
Do you recommend it? Also how do you protect your screen? And Have you ever dropped it?
I am looking forward to the answer as well for myself. I've been using note 1 up until now and this is just a plan either note 4 or note edge and would love to her suggestions
I really like the note edge because its unique but at same time
It does not have known screen protectors nor i have seen any one recommend a case for it and i could not find any drop tests for it..
As for note 4 it lacks edge features of note edge but at same time you can guarntee that it will never have of scratch or crack thanks for the so many screen protectors available for it.
Could some one pls give me their opinions for the edge and if screen protector will protect it?
m coming off of the Note II and moving on to the Edge... the phone seems super powerful but i havent tested it yet... I have an unlocked AT&T and Im actually coming on here to rom it with something that does not give me 4 gigs of garbage apps that I cant use or uninstall!...
Screen wise, I barely ever got a scratch on the screen of my note 2... so Im thinking this screen will be just as reliable... but I do want to get a decent case for it... the one i have is used so it looks like the previous user didnt use a case and it has a bunch of dings on the edge that doesnt have a screen... its not too noticeable but it does show that the phone tends to fall on that side the most.
I can honestly say that the internet on this phone is kinda crappy... Im not sure if its the Rom or maybe a faulty antena.. after I flash it with a bare bone Rom I'll test it out and let you guys know... if its the antena i will be very upset.
Haha, I've actually been waiting for someone to ask these questions and I will tell you my experience...... The story starts with a Note 4. I bought one a while back because it was basically the best phone to date. I "liked" the Note 4, but I have AT&T and after having it for a while, I found myself online daily to see if anyone had rooted it yet so I could clean it up (a lot). That day never came. So I typed "Note 4 vs" in Google to see what people were comparing it to. I'll keep the story short, but some of you may appreciate the extra details. Sooo.... went for the Nexus 6, basically everything the Note was, minus everything the Note was, lol. Fell in love with the Nexus. Loved the assortment of roms and freedom to roam. But the camera sucks. It was/is one of my favorite phones, and I've owned them all. Well, I sold my Nexus because prices are dropping like a rock on them. Which brings us to...
Note edge.
Bottom line, I love the phone. I've used an S6 edge (which has faster hardware) but the actual functionality of the edge on the Note blow the S6 edge out of the water. I bought the T-Mobile edge because if I decided to keep it, I wanted to root it. Well, I used it for a couple days and I was sold. Even before rooting, I already loved it. Sold the Nexus 6 (still an awesome phone). Bottom line in my opinion, for phones in this class, the Note edge is awesome. I know there are 50 other opinions out there, but I wanted to not only share my opinion, but the story behind it. Not to mention expandable storage and removable battery.
Screen protectors: I've only used one, and surprisingly I am pretty happy with it. Considering I think the only ones they can make for an edge are TPU, I thought there was no hope because of the texture of TPU. I thought the pen would suffer the most. I bought the Skinomi off of Amazon, I swear I spent an hour reading and trying to decide. It's a wet apply, which I don't mind at all, and it was better than I anticipated. Smoother than I was expecting, and pen was smooth on it, too. I took it off because I had one little bubble and re-applied it, well it doesn't really work the second time. So they are sending me a new one free. So it has been about 4 or 5 days with no screen protector and I'm honestly thinking about not putting the new one on. Nothing beats the smooth feel of the glass...... But, as we all know, it only takes that one single time to have that scratch stare back at you forever. Choose wisely.
So there's my story.
Oh, I would also suggest finding one with 4.4.4 and not 5. Take my word for it, or do some research. I'm staying on 4.4.4 and am happy as can be.

Yeah. Reason i prefer note edge to all 2015 phones. That it combines the s pen with edge and finger print features and 2k display. Which means lots of features compared to the featurless s6. Not to mention sd card slot and removable battery could be a plus.
I see it as a future proof phone.
However i would never leave it without screen protector and i advice you not to..
I removed both the case and screen protector of My note 3 and one day fell on the air port and had a big scratch in the middle.
No matter how much it distorts screen quality its always worth it at least until you get better protector.

Well, my story is that I fell in love with the leather note series. I started with the note 2, which was ergonomically a better phone in any way(rounded edges). Note 3 was awesome, then the note 4 which I like; but the rom support isn't that great in my opinion.
Now the edge has a lower amount of xda nerds, but yet better roms(I can't go without Multi DPI roms anymore).
The Edge just adds extra features the Note 4 doesn't have, nothing more really. For the casing; I like the genuine samsung flip covers, so I bought one for my edge aswell. I don't have it yet, but I guess it will be as awesome as all other note flip cases ;D

I have the HANTON Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Card Pocket Case Front Full Cover Flip Classic from ebay and it covers the whole screen including the edge.
I love my Note Edge. At first, I was gonna get the Note 4 but I knew that I would've regretted it later because of the uniqueness of the Edge. I had played with the iPhone 6 Plus and the S6 Edge but, I don't really like iPhones and the edge of the S6 seemed like a gimmick to me. Since I had read that the Note Edge was pretty much a Note 4 with a second, independent screen, I went for it despite of the high price. I also bought the
ArmorSuit MilitaryShield - Samsung Galaxy Note Edge Screen Protector and the Verus Thor case.
I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The phone has all the features of the Note 4 plus all the features of an actual, super-useful, functional edge screen. I flashed a new ROM as soon as I got it, I keep installing apps, and the phone is as good as new. It also looks amazing and it doesn't have a scratch on it. If you like features, you'll love the Edge Note.
In my opinion the Note Edge is the best piece of Android hardware on the market today....with one of the worst software implementations. Especially the ATT version is a bloated lag ridden touchwiz mess that, due to the locked bootloader, cannot be fixed. The stock 4.4 version is just "ok" while the 5.0.1 "upgrade" is almost unusable by normal android standards. There are some great ROMS already out for this great piece of hardware, but if your unwilling/unable to flash one or uncomfortable with Xposed, I would steer towards something else that doesnt use Touchwiz.
I love mine.
It's got to be the nicest phone I've ever laid hands on.
Buy it.
Root it.
Get rid of all the garbage.
It seems like everyone and their brother has a factory installed app' on this thing.
BTW,stick with KitKat.
Apparently the new ROM has a myriad of headaches with it.
It kind of reminds of Windows.
The more they "refine" it,the more bloated it gets.
My RAM usage is around 600 MB with anti virus and a couple more apps' on board.
It works very nicely.
yes, 1000%. just do not get the lollipop upgrade if you can avoid it.
I don't know what issues you guys get with 5.0.1, it's working fine on my n915g.

calls can't be answered from the edge anymore, text messages flash across the top of the screen, not the edge like it should, there is no music player on the lock screen anymore and the battery life sucks on 5.0.1. There's more, but these are the easiest to identify. If you are fine with that or have not experienced these crippling setbacks of 5.0.1. then good for you. As for me, reverting back, gave me all the features that made this my top phone of the past 10 years.

Flimsy bezel on gear s2 sport?

Got my s2 sport 3 days ago and today I noticed the bezel is kind of flimsy. Not that it rotates more easily but more like it is not that well attached to the case anymore. Feels as if it was meant to be pressed as a buttton rather than only rotate.
Anyone else with this issue? Is this "normal"?
I had that issue on the the first one I bought. Returned it and got another

Thanks. After seeing other posts of people having similar or even worse problems with the bezel, I asked Amazon for a replacement. Now I have to return my current gear s2.

Not very happy... Will see if the replacement hasn't the same problem.
I have the same issue. The bezel makes a click noise when I touch it. I didn't recognize it the first days when I played with my device. I will get my replacement tomorrow so I can compare 1:1 what's normal and what's not.

Yes, I also didn't have the clicking on the bezel at first, then it suddenly became more "raised" and started to click when touched.
Please, let us know if your second watch is better. Will get my replacement by next monday, but I plan to send back the old one on saturday, so no chance to compare them.
Thanks.
Can anybody who thinks they have a flimsy bezel tell me if you scroll with the rotating bezel slowly but not too slow in the "app circle" back and forth, does it sometimes go the wrong direction you're spinning?
I am experiencing this with the Verizon Gear S2 3G. Sometimes its more than one time if I keep spinning in the same direction. It seems it got into a loop or something. Planning on bringing it back and I got it 3 days ago. I can press mine down like it is a button. I had the S2 bluetooth before and I don't really remember that happening.
Nope. Mine only was sort of loose but the rotation response had no issues. The replacement is better.
Ok I'm gonna go bring it in tomorrow

Question Screen protector help / advice

Hi all
I'm hoping to get a z flip 4 soon and want to make sure it's as protected as possible. I want to put a good screen protector on it for obvious reasons and was wondering if I need to remove the factory one first or just put new one on top? I believe samsung say not to remove factory one but videos on YouTube say otherwise. What would you guys do?
Cheers
If u want to put another you have to remove factory one and if u not want to remove factory one then use it only
The factory one is pretty good. No more coming up at the edges. Bought presale still looks new. Samsung also offers one free replacement for first year.

@mt2020 Cheers bud, that's good to hear. I'm really looking forward to getting my first decent phone in years!!
The original foil on the display cannot be removed .
Samsung - threatens to void the warranty if the original foil is torn off .
Even when installing the phone , this message appears .
What's more , if the foil becomes damaged or peels off , Samsung will replace it free of charge .
It is also not recommended to stick additional foil .
Cordial greetings .
The internal one is good. I can see no point in trying to change it.
However, the real danger area is the one on the outside and I cannot work out whether it has a factory fitted protector or not. Any info?
Hello !
The external / cover display is not secured .
Personally , I had a foil stuck on - in one of the well-known chains with electronic equipment and RTV / household appliances .
The cost of such a service is less than 10 Euro ... and it lasted 5 minutes .
Due to the fact that I do not use any case , I also covered the entire phone from the outside .
I took my Flip4 to UBreakIfix to have the original factory screen protector replaced under warranty due to delamination. The Samsung website referred me to them. Unfortunately there are few shops in my area that have the machine to install them and they were out of stock. I didn't realize that they even had a machine to install screen protectors. The tech said that the protector delamination issue has been around since the first Flip. I hope the redesigned hinge on the Flip5 won't have this issue.
Dear @Matterhorn ,
tell - please - after what time the protective foil on your Flip 4 delaminates .
It just happened. I pre-ordered my Flip4 so it must be about 6 months old. I'm hoping that the replacement lasts until the Flip5 is released. I also hope they give a big trade in like last time. Otherwise I might have to go back to Pixel and get the 8.

Mine same age as yours, so far zero issues. Came from Pixel, bugs galore and slow to fix. Great camera though. Samsung really got their act together compared to 5 or more years ago. Watch 5 also isn't fully supported with pixel, so hoping camera gets big boost on flip 5.
