T-Mobile VoLTE? - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

New to the OPO and T-Mobile... I've tried searching Google but everything I'm getting back is related to att.. Does the OPO support VoLTE, or will it in the future with a software update?

Lots of threads about VoLTE on the OnePlus forums:
https://forums.oneplus.net/search/6793241/?q=volte&o=relevance
I didn't read all of them, but the ones I skimmed all seem to come to the same conclusion: it's not supported on the OnePlus One.

About to get Google play edition HAVE 1 question

I know the playstore nexus 5 doenst support wifi calling with T-Mobile sim.
But my question in theory is ... if I root do and will T-Mobile Branded n5 roms work on the play edition N5 ... with WiFi calling ?
Seeing like how we can flash T-Mobile roms on att htc one or s4 and get wifi calling since its baked into the Roms?
Seeing as its unbranded phone one would assume this is already a possibility if not yet already
I havent seen any mentioning but wanted to ask before I buy it.

There is no such thing as branded or Google Play Edition Nexus 5.
There is only the one Nexus 5 like you can get from the play store.

Instead of criticizing my way of wording my questions an actual response on the subject matter would have been more cconstructive..

Nope, won't work. The phones are the same and the ROM's are the same. It was the same situation with the Nexus 4 as well.

His response is on point. There are no tmobile versions of this phone, therefore there are no tmobile roms for this phone, therefore no tmobile wifi calling is possilble.
So we can flash T-Mobile roms on the google play nexus Not the carrier branded and it still wont produce wifi calling

I just wanted to say that there's no difference, so no special Tmo Roms

Lulz there are no T-Mobile roms. There are custom roms such as Cataclysm, Mahdi - ROM, and others, in addition to other AOSP based roms, but no roms from T-Mobile. The n5 you buy from T-Mobile is the same phone you buy from Google play
Your phrasing is a little abrasive, just saying.
But why is the t-mobile rep telling you it supports wifi calling? You should ask the rep. Clearly the rep is misinformed.
It is a feature on a tmo branded device. This is not a tmo branded device... The moto x is another non branded tmo device. Sadly it only works on to branded phones... Ones that have to branded Roms. I don't even think the iPhone 5/c/5s has WiFi calling either.

Let's clarify something here: there is only one version of the nexus 5 (OK 4 if you count colors, and storage space )
Whether you buy the phone on contract, off contract, from retail store, or Google play store, your getting the exact same phone. An already carrier unlocked, bare bones android experience (which in turn allows you to customize your way and not be limited by bloatware). No specific carrier software gets pre-installed.
So no specific T-Mobile software gets preinstalled. Unfortunately I don't know if there's a way to add support for what you asked, as I don't have T-Mobile or know anything about it lol.

As for T-Mobile ROMs, I would look on the nexus 5 development forum section to see if there are any with T-Mobile software baked in, though I haven't seen any carrier specific ROMs yet.

I already knew the answer, but thanks for answering this poor guys question the way it should have been answered in the first place! It's a shame that it's not as easy as baking the WiFi calling feature into a custom ROM. Or better yet it's a shame nobody has been able to do it... yet. It would give me a legit reason to root!
On the old G2x they were able to include wifi calling on Aosp roms. So it can be done, not sure if it's worth the time to find out

Being a T-Mobile phone had nothing to do with it unfortunately. If that was the case they would have wifi calling on CM on the GS4, but they don't.

I think that's his point. On AOSP and CM ROMs you won't have it only on devices with the tmobile bloat

OP, I think you're confused by the fact that there are no variants of the N5 like there are with most phones. Let's take the Galaxy S4, for example. There a Verizon variant, a Sprint variant, a T-Mobile variant, an AT&T variant, an international variant, and a Google Play Edition variant (and probably others).
With the N5, there is ONE (1) variant (yes, I realize there's an international version, but for the purposes of this post it's not relevant). Whether you get the phone from Google Play, Sprint, Best Buy, Amazon, or somewhere else, you're getting the exact same phone. Since there are no variants of the phone, there are also no carrier-specific roms like you would see with other phones like the GS4. There's also not a Google Play Edition N5 - it's just the Nexus 5, period, end of story. I realize that it's a difficult concept to get your head around, because I can't think of any other phone that's been made and marketed this way, but there ya go.

Why has there not been an AT&T update

I keep seing all kinds of updates for the LG G3, but nothing released for the AT&T variant.

Honestly I like this phone a lot and it really only needs minor tweaks
Perhaps all the updates are for for items that are not present in the AT&T variant??

No, battery fixes...stupid aux/headphone issue... The issue with airplane mode having to be toggled to get things to sync....things that never should have happened. the devs will figure all this stuff out before att or LG does anything. But that is known.
Sent from my LG-D850 using XDA Free mobile app
keep in mind that ATT shipped with ver. 10d, which is ahead of some other variants. we're technically not that bad off. lets hope att is bundling updates together. it's a huge task for att to certify each small update.
The only thing i need fixed is the damn data issue. All to frequently when my phone goes from LTE to H+ my data gets wonky and wont work. toggling airplane mode isn't a huge deal, but it shouldn't need to be done.
I don't think its been long enough since release. I would imagine they are still collecting bug reports.

Once Nexus - always Nexus. I have G3 only because it was provided by the company. Personal devices always Nexii.
My guess and hope is they are skipping 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 and going straight to Android L

If the phone doesn't have it you can't make it have it. You cannot unlock bands that are not there.

Why do you keep saying that. The phone has it. The specs says it does. Try googling unlock bands there are a couple I found on xda. One was for nexus n the other OE was for opo. The D850 is a little different because of art n I wanted something meant for this particular phone

Because 1 phone can doesn't mean others can... The G3 is not the same as a OPO or a nexus. The reason why some can is the band is locked out in software but is available in hardware. Remember bands rely on the actual hardware of the device. With the D850 if it doesn't have the band it won't ever have the band. And non of the bands are software locked to my knowledge. But if they are there's no way around it at this time.
If the D850 does indeed have lte band 1800 then it could be an issue with your APN or your carrier is using a different lte band.
Sent from my HTCD100LVW using Tapatalk
Thank you so much. The phone has the band I'm sure I've checked multiple forums for the specs. So the band is there. I've checked with the APN which are also right. The ISP uses 1800 and the note 3 n9005 works great. It's just this phone something is wrong and I want to know what.

Theres been a few posts on Band 1800 with the D850 and it doesnt seem to work. So I doubt there's a chance of it working.

Just google it there's several posts about it. Because if that band is actually there hardware wise it is being locked by the modem and in which no one has a way around that.

I just filled out my survey too. I hope it is Marshmallow with VoLTE.
I hope that after all these certification hurdles are gone, we start getting updates on a timely basis. Android 6.0.1 is starting to come out for some phones and we are still waiting for Marshmallow. I hope Motorola doesn't use the "only two updates guarantee" to leave us stuck on 6.0.1, when there are rumours already of 6.1 being the next big update floating around the web.
Why not just post the ota when you get it

Really hope I get an invite. Looking forward to band 12 on tmobile in nyc.
I'm just happy because even if I don't get picked for the soak test, it should be rolling out to the masses in a week or so.

Huawei and Updates?

How is Huawei with updates? Also, are there any unresolved bugs or issues left to be addressed in future updates?
FYI, I'm using unlocked US version.

I'm using the European version but I'd say it ain't THAT bad. Not as slow as Samsung used to be but definitely not as fast as my nexus phones got them in the past.
