Hello everyone,
So i bought a Photon Q LTE online which was listed as the owner can not unlock the lockscreen and thats why he is selling it. As I receive the item, it is as described and i cant unlock it, it also comes to a point only asking for the gmail and the passport.
The reason I get it to reach the fastboot, recovery mode to do a clean installation. But the problem kinda starts here; I can get on the fastboot mode but the bootloader is locked.
I am wondering, what are my options to make this device useful again?
Thank you so much for your helps!

Hello, my name is Armando. This is my first post here, and I only have one question. First of all I want to say thanks to all you guys, I've found a lot of useful stuff here for my phone Ok, let's go for it:
I recently unlocked my Huawei Y511 to use it on any carrier, and it was succesful (I didn't unlock it by myself, a repairman did it). The problem is... my phone still got all the original carrier stuff (boot animation, some crappy apps and sounds) and I want to delete all of them. I rooted my phone before the unlock (temporary root which I found in this same forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276) and I leave all the stock ROM untouched before the unlock. I noticed that the guy who unlocked it used a "unlock box" named "SigmaBox" and he told me that my phone was able to be unlocked directly, without needing to wipe and reinstall all the software (I give him the phone, then one hour later I have my phone all unlocked, and it was the same way it was before it).
Now my question is... if I install a new ROM or whatever... will I lose my sim unlock?
I don't understand how he unlocked the phone, all I know is that he did a "direct unlock" but I don't know if he used unlocking codes. All I know is that he used some kind of USB box connected from my phone to a computer, and did his magic and surprise, phone unlocked.
Do you know what kind of unlock is this? And how does it work?
PD: Sorry for my bad english, my native language is spanish but I'm trying to improve my english skills (so I didn't use a translator).
I don't know much about unlocking. But I'm pretty sure that you won't loose the unlock status if you flash custom rom

Thanks for your reply, and yeah, I think you are right.
After doing a little research, I found that a "direct unlock" is basically the generation and input of unlocking codes generated by both IMEI and carrier code, and the unlock box generated three codes which only one of them worked and the phone gets unlocked. So, my phone is
unlocked for ever and I won't lose my unlock status even if I install/update/reinstall the ROM.
If any of you guys know something else about this unlock procedure, please let us know!
i was using my phone(its never rooted or try to experiment something its just a original factory setted piece) and suddenly my moto g2 gets switched off and when I try to switch it on a black color screen came with just a message saying "AP Fastboot Flash Mode (S)"
Please help me with this
I have tried to unlock the bootloader I got the unlock code from motorola and when iam using the next query "fastboot oem unlock xxxxxxxxxx......." then error comes invalid unlock data
please help me in making my phone normal with back to stock rom
Thats a lot, sometimes the most easiest answer is just return the phone to carrier if under Warrenty. If not under Warrenty get another phone, sometimes we might not be able to buy new phone .
Then comes the headache of solving the question ??if rooted, easy install new ROM that works with your phone.
If not rooted then no Warrenty then root device, find other users that have rooted your device. I know I always find the most complicated answer to the simplest question by posting and asking other users. I wish you luck in finding your answer dont forget to share your answer and experience .

Guys help needed ASAP. A friend of mine did suicide a week ago because of some girl. We have his phone but it is locked and it was switched off when his parents found him in his room so we could not open it with his fingerprint, as it says pin is required after reboot to unlock. Now they've given me the phone to unlock it and I don't know how to do it, because adb is not enabled as well as I can't flash twrp because of locked bootloader. I cannot unlock bootloader because OEM unlocking is not enabled maybe. So what can I do? is there any way to it or I need go to service center? Will they unlock it without erasing any of the data, not even messages or contacts.
hello, have you been able to UNLOCK !
Hello, hope this finds everyone well. I have been looking at the related topics and saw a post by @mobbdeep which had helpful information but I was unable to get ahold. If anyone knows a way or someome that can help I would highly appreciate that.
Thanks!
Update: Just spoke with T-Mobile and they said we don't have anything called "Unlock code" that it would be something you get from OnePlus. Does anyone have a clue?
Thanks.

Make sure you have adb and fastboot installed and OEM unlocking selected in Android, then boot into fastboot by using "adb reboot bootloader". Once in fastboot, use "fastboot oem get_unlock_code". Copy the code, remove all of the weird formatting so it is one consistent string, and paste that into the unlock code box at oneplus' site.
If you are wanting to unlock without paying off the phone, you will need to wait for mobbdeep to get back or try your luck with T-Mobile's Twitter. There was a well-documented bug in later firmwares on the original OP8 which caused people to lose signal, with the only way to fix to use MSM to roll back. I was able to request an unlock with this.

Thanks for your reply! I am familiar with everything you mentioned in regards to fastboot commands. However, the OEM unlocking option is grayed out meaning i cannot toggle it.
I will attempt the fastboot get unlock code command and hopefully see some magic.
Yea i'm in on waiting for mobbdeep. Hopefully he'd be able to give some insight. His topic post is the most relevant to my issue. I'm now going in on 3rd day with carrier sim in the phone.
What's MSM you mentioned? I read it in a few places here but what is that tool used for?
Thanks again! Have a great day.

You will not be able to issue the fastboot commands with the OEM unlocking option greyed out. The only way, currently, to get that option, is to have a permanent SIM unlock on the device. There are talks in the Verizon thread about a working workaround for bootloader unlock, but I am unsure if that particular method is working on T-Mobile devices. As for MSM, it is the unbricking tool for our devices. There is a special download mode that can be triggered in Qualcomm devices by holding volume up and volume down with the device off, and inserting a USB cable. Should something happen catastrophic to your software, and recovery through fastboot isn't possible, MSM allows your device to be returned to stock software. It will automatically relock your bootloader, and does not touch certain partitions like persist (individual fingerprint calibration files are in this partition), but it does completely recover your device in extreme cases. I actually misspoke in my post, as MSM is available on all devices. I meant the fastboot ROM restores, as that does require a bootloader unlock.

Hi there!
Are you looking to sim unlock your phone (i.e. network unlock) your phone? If so, PM me. I have a lead. Yes, really. :good:
I just got the Moto G 5G 2022 from metro yesterday after I broke the digitizer in my N200 5G. I was able to get the unlock code from Motorola's bootloader unlock website, but unfortunately the OEM unlock option is greyed out and says to connect to the internet or contact my carrier. From the little information I was able to find online it seems like this should resolve itself in 3+ days, but because I am impatient I was wondering if anybody knows the package that is responsible for the timer or whatever it is that motorola is using to prevent activating the OEM unlock for a specific time period. I know on the N200, you had to be network unlocked to enable the OEM unlock option, but there was a Qualcomm package that could be removed via ADB that instantly enabled the option. This is my first device with a mediatek chipset so I'm not sure if there is anything similar that can be done. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey mate. I had the same issue. You need to wait 7 days to activate that option. It was greyed out for my phone, too, but on the 7th day, I was able to unlock the bootloader.
Yet, I could not root my phone. Even there's no TWRP right now working for this phone. If you know how to root it, please let me know.

Just root it by patching the boot img with magisk and flashing from a PC.
