As far as I know & correct me anyone, but you might be looking for build.prop tweaks instead of APN tweaks

I have an S-OFF ATT HOX. SuperCID. Installed the Avatar 4.2.2 rom. Works great! Snappy, and pretty! Only problem is I was only able to get 4G speeds. After a 30 min conversation with ATT to confirm there were no issues on their end, I looked at the APN settings for PTA. The APN settings were incomplete.
Normally the APN type has default, mms, supl and hipri but my installs (3x) never included. I attempted to add the hipri to the APN and even create a new APN, but the changes would never save.
Any thoughts?
Is the APN locked from being edited? Try just making a new APN with the correct settings.
Avata 4.2.2 APN woes
Its not locked. I can get into the existing 6 APNs and create a new one, but there is no save button on a new APN or existing APN. But I guess by definition means it is locked. I speculated just pressing back auto saved the entered settings but alas, no LTE goodness
Weird. I've seen where the APN is locked from editing (Save button is grayed out) such as the default APN on the AT&T stock ROM. But even then, you can create a new APN and save it. Never seen where it locked you out from editing and saving altogether.
I'm trying to get a friends phone working for them in Chile and I can't edit the apn settings on his Stratosphere 2. In the APN settings there is no option to add a new APN. It's a global phone and voice works fine with entel, the provider down here, and I know what the new settings need to be. I thought it would be easy to just edit the APN but the menu to do so is hidden. The only option I have within the APN is reset to defaults. Anyone have any info to help me out? Do I need to unlock the phone to do this? If I do, can anyone point me in the right direction to do that?
Thanks for the help!
I have my OPO on AT&T network and under APN in settings there are 7 AT&T APNs. Can I try different ones to see if any are better, or will I screw things up? Thanks
Try until you get your data working
Delete all of them except ATT LTE. I also add hipri to APN type.
I have a US Cellular G920R4, unlocked.
USC has co-opted the data connection. For example, I can add an APN for Verizon and select it, but it doesn't work.
If you set the APN setting to default and remove all APNs, it dispalys a message that states that "APN settings are disabled for the current user profile."
Data is 3G by default.
Also, they've locked the browser such that you can not remove or even change the default home page, which is the USC portal.
How to I eliminate their default setup and restore the APN settings?
I was having a problem with this also and I was able to add a working APN by disabling WiFi first. You'll still see the APN settings disabled error until you add the new APN. You'll then be able to select the radio button next to the APN you added after it has been saved. It worked for me just now so I hope that helps you.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I am glad the solution worked for you and, hipefully it will help others. The WiFi settings on my device were disabled. I can add an APN and select it as default, but it's ignored - even after I delete all APNs by returning to default settings and starting over.
