Note 2 sd card disconnect when put down. Adhesive - General Questions and Answers

Okay, I recently replaced my SD card slot after it dropped in some water. When I put it down or tap on the back the SD card disconnects and reconnects. I think one problem might be is there wasn't enough adhesive left ot secure the sd card slut. Anyone know what adhesive you use to secure that slot?

Damaged SD Card Slot

Oops, I've somehow managed to break the SD Card Slot.
It was working fine up until this morning, I haven't even dropped it or anything just removed the card to replace it with another and now the thing won't click in to place.
I've tried 3 different cards, tried selotape and gaffa tape to secure it in but nothing is working.
Has anyone got any suggestions or solutions.
Thanks
Pete
Found the solution
I played around, putting the SD in every which way it would fit and found that putting it in upside down it pushed the spring and stayed down. SO i just pulled it out, without pressing down first and voila it's sorted.
Just proves, if at first you don't succeed....don't hit it with a hammer.

[Q] MicroSD card insertion...

Hey team,
This might be a stupid question...hope I'm not missing something simple.
Do I need additional hardware besides the MicroSD card itself?
I loaded the firmware update onto my Nexus One's MicroSD card. Powered it off, yanked the MicroSD card, and went to insert it into the Transformer.
As I'm inserting it, it recognizes external storage (and the update it found on the card, as the exclamation mark appears), but it won't "snap" into the device and springs out far enough that the device no longer sees it.. There's some spring pressure back to me, and it feels like the card should "click in." But no luck...
Am I doing it wrong?
Thanks.
Just need to push in a bit harder the card sits very flush with the case.

Thanks...although I think I just chipped a fingernail...that's some serious force it took.

You may want to use your nail to push the card slightly beyond the opening and it should click and comes back out flush with the case. Or wait and buy my 5 dollar asus microsd card inserter gadget.
Oh and if you download that on your nexus...make sure you unzip it and put the ASUS folder on the root of the card...else it would be sitting in download folder or something.
Hehe...where do I buy that gadget?
Got the unzip part...the update was successful.
Let's see if HDMI out has improved at all!
I've got loads of spare mobile phone sim cards around so I just use one of those to press it in each time. Failing that you could use a credit card i suppose as they are about the same thickness. Makes it a bit easier than using a fingernail. Yeah it goes in a fair way before it clicks and holds the card but at least it sits flush to the bezel.
My MicroSD got shot across the room by the spring when i first inserted it! But i have pretty big hands so it was fiddly.

Does the Micro SD slot have a spring to unloaded

Two part question
Last night I put the 3.1 update on my mSD card and put it in. I slid it in until I felt it couldn't really go in without more force. But I didn't know where to find it in file manager. There was already previously an SD card folder in there with files in it before I put it in.
So how do you browse the SD card once it is in there?
Secondly, I went to pull it out thinking I should push it in a little to Spring it back out but it went in further. Then it was too far and I tried to pull it out with my fingers and then I pushed if further when trying to pull it out and it was flush with the side. I had to get a tiny flat screw driver to get it out.
How far do these mSD cards go in? Does the card spring back out? Do I need to return my transformer?
Mine is sprint loaded. You push it in and it catches. Push it in again and it ejects the uSD card. Make sure you have the card right side up and correct end in.
When it's in all the way it should be flush with the side, and you'll get a popup saying there's an SD card inserted. You can click on the SD card icon in the bottom right to browse the contents, or the path is removable/SD card.
To remove it, push it in more and it will pop out. If it didn't pop out for you... maybe you put it in wrong? If you never got the notification.... it was never in right.
I've had two Transformers and both were hard to push in the first time, had to wiggle it a bit, then it finally went in. After that however it slides in normally.
OK mine must be broken. There is no spring to to return it.
Spring had Sprung
Oh yea its spring loaded. My first attempt to put the card in didn't quite make it and it slipped off my thumbnail and shot out of the tablet like a bullet. 30 minutes later I finally found it on the back of a shelf on the other side of my office.

Definetly spring loaded. Flush with Transformer when inserted. Push to eject.

Same thing happened to me, lol.
It most definitely does have a spring. I have to push my card in with some object (a pen or something) until it latches. To release it, I also have to use a tool, and it snaps out and as has been mentioned can really shoot a long ways. I can't insert or remove it using just my fingers, I have to use something to poke it. Just as well since I don't want something to accidentally press on the side and eject the card.
Mine was a PITA to get in as well when I installed my card from my phone to update. I was terrified I was going to break it. Doesn't help that I bite my nails and don't have anything to force it in
Taking it out was easy and definitely spring loaded..

Oh My... You too.. Me too...
The first time I try to take it out, I lost grip on it and it flew out like bullet. Oh MAN... I'll say DEFINITELY spring loaded.
Some micros sd fits little differently. Some fits good. Some don't.

[Q] Stuck SD card??

I just got a new sandisk 64gb card for my infinity - and the bugger got stuck when I stuck it in the port. I've tried repeated pushing on it with a micro screw driver and tried a pair of watchmaker tweezers to pull it out, but nothing I've tried is getting the release to work. Of course, I've just unlocked the bootloader so I'm sure Asus will 'fart in my general direction' so I'm sure I'll have to dig it out myself. Anyone have any ideas??

Happened to me once, got it out with a very thin tweezers
I tried that but it's stuck in the locked position - it won't disengage from the lock. I have some thin tweezers, but even if I pull, it seems like it's locked in there. Before I yank on it (they're too thin to put much force on it) I wanted to make sure I didn't wreck something.
What you need to do is blow some hot air into the slot with a hair dryer on medium. Heat up the SD card and the slot for 30 seconds and you can easily eject that out.
I got it out! Once I got it out I looked in there. The card slot is not lined up properly with the hole on the case - when you look straight in, the bar on the SD cage is off by half a cage width. I had sent it off for service and obviously it didn't get put back together right. I'll have to call and see if they will do good on fixing mistakes of their reconstruction or not...

sim/sd slot issue

Is it just me or after inserting an sd card, there's a slight bump on the top of the slot? Like as if the card is responsible for it.
Or do you think it's broken? It still closes though. The slot did come off recently when the phone fell 3-4 times.

I had the exact issue and it was bothering me to no end. Apparently the micro-sd card actually 'clicks' in. Use the back of the key they gave you to push the microSD card further in (I don't have long nails so I couldn't do it LOL)
thanks a lot dude! now it's petfectt
lol at nails
