I just received my MS Bluetooth Keyboard 6000 and got it working on cyanogenmod6 (CM6), connected using Bluetooth Keyboard Easy Connect. I ran into some problems getting it to work initially, so I figured I'd outline how I got it working and explain the functionality of the keys on the keyboard to help out anyone wishing to use this keyboard with the Viewsonic Gtablet.
Here's what I did:
(1) Installed Bluetooth Keyboard Easy Connect and got it running. Turned on bluetooth (but left it as non discoverable) on the gtablet.
(2) Rebooted Gtablet.
(3) Bluetooth automatically stays on upon reboot because I turned it on previously. Under Settings > Wireless, I went to bluetooth and let it scan for devices. I had previously turned my keyboard on and its LED was already flashing (to signal that the keyboard was discoverable).
(4) Once the gtab detected the keyboard, I selected the keyboard to make it pair. The gtab will prompt for a PIN. **HERE'S WHERE THE MICROSOFT INSTRUCTIONS DON'T EXPLAIN WHAT TO DO VERY WELL**
(5) Enter "0000" or any pin you want into the gtab and select OK. Immediately after doing this (without any further prompts), type the SAME pin (i.e. "0000") into your bluetooth keyboard and hit "Enter".
(6) Assuming that you had properly installed Easy Connect earlier and that it is already running in the background, your bluetooth keyboard should magically work!
(7) If the bluetooth keyboard stops working after a minute (mine stopped working, and everything I typed out in an email got deleted...weird), it might be because you didn't grant superuser permissions to Easy Connect. Do that, and it should work again.
That's all to make it work! Now, here's what works on the keyboard:
- volume control keys: up and down work, mute does not
- arrow keys work for typing; on home screen, arrow keys can be used to select app across multiple home screens (and pressing enter when an app is highlighted launches it)
- shift key works just like the android soft kb shift key (one press is shift, two presses is caps lock); but it seems like press and hold works too, including for the symbol keys on for shift+number
- windows key: doesn't work
F1 = settings
F2 = nothing
F3 = call log
F4 = sleep and wake the device (cool that it wakes up, but only after sleeping for less than a short time)
F5 and above = nothing
- CTRL and DEL don't do anything either
- ESC key: nothing
- tilde key (squiggly key under ESC): nothing
- FN Home: home (and wake when asleep)
- FN End : same as F4 (sleep and wake)
- FN Insert: nothing, it seems
- FN Print Screen: probably nothing
- Alt+Tab and Win+Tab: search
Also the keyboard is fairly responsive and wakes up quite quickly after non-use. So far so good, but I haven't tried rebooting or re-pairing yet.
ok... so I spoke too soon. The initial pairing was flawless, even after it went to sleep. Now, after rebooting, it doesn't pair properly and interferes with my wifi. I'm going to run some more tests and then probably report my findings of bugs in the Bluetooth Keyboard Connect thread.

I've got the same keyboard. I got it to work with Blueinput. The only issue is that if you're using the free version, {Blueinput Demo} shows up in the middle of your typing an awful lot. I use it a lot, so I sprang for it.
It seems to interfere with my wifi... When I have bluetooth and Easy Connect running in the background on boot, it causes my wifi to cut out, especially when I open the Amazon app store and marketplace. Not sure why--maybe those use more bandwidth than just opening email?
My solution thus far has been to only turn on bluetooth (and Easy Connect, which runs automatically upon bluetooth being turned on) when I need it. Surprisingly though, the wifi problem doesn't seem to occur when bluetooth is connected to something--anything at all--like when it's connected to my bluetooth GPS module but not the bluetooth keyboard. Of course, when the bluetooth keyboard is connected, there aren't problems at all.
So the solution so far seems to be to re-pair it each time I want to use it. Not sure if anyone else has encountered the same problem (seems like it's a problem with Easy Connect) or has any suggestions.
I might try Blueinput to see if that fixes things.
Well, it sounds like it's a bit of a hassle but still definitely usable.
Do you know if the G Tablet works with any bluetooth keyboard? I'm thinking about buying a smaller one. Why's this tablet got to be so temperamental sometimes? Haha.
Yep... definitely usable. After fiddling with it some more, it seems (but I can't confirm) that I don't get problems so long as bluetooth isn't on when I boot it up (i.e. I turn off bluetooth before turning the tablet off). Looks like, once the tablet is on, things work out if I do the following:
(1) I can turn on the keyboard
(2) toggle bluetooth on the tablet
(3) watch as the pop up tells me that easy connect is running (it runs automatically when you turn on bluetooth)
(4) type in pairing code "0000 + enter" on the keyboard (not sure if this is necessary, but the 2 times I've tried it, it works, and I haven't tried going without).
Using these steps, and most importantly not having bluetooth on when booting up (that seems to interfere with wifi), seems to make things fairly smooth.
I haven't filed a bug report based on the wifi-interference issue yet because I haven't tried out all the permutations of what's on and running in the background on boot and what I'm pressing on the keyboard. It seems that things are working better after I fiddled with my bluetooth GPS external module and uninstalled/reinstalled Airport Mode (forgot the name of the app), so I'm not sure if either the GPS or the airport app did something.
Mankey: as for whether the gtab works with any bluetooth keyboard, it has the potential to, but it depends on what ROM you're running. I'm using CM6 and my results are based on that ROM. Good luck!

Hey so I just got my 6000 in the mail and downloaded blueinput demo but there seems to be a lot of missed keystrokes and some lag. Lag is fine to me as long as all my keystrokes go through. Haven't tried easy connect yet. But was just wondering if this was a symptom of me having the demo.
Tried easy connect but it doesn't seem to like me. Will connect and work for a while but soon it says that it disconnected.
Generally no lag at all using Easy Connect, although the first 3-4 keystrokes after a standby might be slow.
For Easy Connect, did you make sure that it had superuser privileges? That solved the disconnection problem for me. Also try what I did in terms of ensuring that bluetooth is off before rebooting, then turning on BT, then connecting the device.
What ROM are you running?
I actually tried doing exactly what you posted. No dice. It will always connect well, then after a couple minutes just crap out, followed by a message that says that it's disconnecting. Gave it superuser privileges, restarted with BT off. :/
I'm running Vegan 5.1.1 with pershoot at 1400. I was going to flash to Vegan 7 sometime soon (probably next week since I'm not in dire need of the keyboard right now) to see if it would help at all.
I'm not sure if the 6000 is HID or SPP bluetooth but I have a feeling it's HID. Maybe gingerbread can handle HID better. Once I flash ginger, I'll post my findings here.
I got one of the hp touchpad bluetooth keyboards on sale with the touchpad. It pairs easily with the touchpad, but if I try to pair it with my android phone, I get prompted for a passcode.
Does anyone know the bluetooth passcode for the keyboard?

Figured it out: apparently android by default doesn't have the capability yet to sync properly with bt keyboards by itself yet (Cyanogenmod might work.) To make it work, I got an app 'Bluetooth Keyboard Easyconnect' from the market. Just turn on bluetooth, open the app, and turn on the hp touchpad keyboard (in that order) and wait - it will sync automatically. Don't try to force the pairing in the bluetooth settings page for your phone.
If you do have a rom that allows manual pairing from the bluetooth settings by default, to sync you need to enter a passcode on your phone when prompted (anything you want - i used 0000), and then type the same code on the bt keyboard and press enter.

Try 000 (three zeros) or 0000 (four zeros). That is what most devices I have tried use.
HP official bluetooth keyboard
I got this for $28 at best buy, and while it works decent with the touchpad, I am wondering: Can it work with other devices?
I got it to pair with windows 7, but when I type, nothing happens. Has anybody else had any success? Something I'm not doing perhaps?
Every comment I've seen about this says the keyboard works only with the touchpad. There is some concern that the keyboard may not even work on the touchpad if/when Android is ported to it.

So can your confirm that this keyboard can indeed work with android phones/devices? I just received my purchase of this keyboard, and it looks and feels great. But I don't want a bluetooth keyboard that will only work with WebOS.

Works fine with android and webos. Haven't tried it with anything else but it seems to be a generic bt keyboard so I'm sure it's within its capabilities to work on windows or mac.
I have a stock Evo 3D. And it works that.
I can confirm it pairs with the iPad 2, so (presumably) it should also pair with other iOS devices. The iPad asks that you punch in a code to confirm the sync, but I wonder if it's static?
Will this work with Win7?
I currently use the apple BT keyboard for Win7 but used "KeyTweak" to remap the key strokes in the registry for buttons such as delete and the media keys. Everything else works just dandy (cept the damn Ctrl key is in the wrong place...stupid Apple)
Would it be safe to assume that the Touchpad keyboard would work the same and require remapping of a few keys here and there? I see one person above said that they couldn't get it to work with Win7, but then again many people say that it doesn't work with Android and it definitely does...

I have been able to pair up with my touchpad, 2 android phones, and a ps3 so I am assuming it will work on any bluetooth enabled device
I can't freaking get mine to pair. I can clearly see it, but after putting in the password (I've tried 000, 0000, 1234, 0123, 01234, and ABC) it just keeps asking if I want to pair it again. I'm assuming I don't have the correct PW. Anyone else have one that might work? I'm running the latest CM7 nightly and using the CM7 BT options.
Also, I downloaded that app mentioned earlier and it like.. doesn't work at all.

im having the exact same problem, im running MIUI on my s2 and just cant get it working, with or without the app within the app the keyboard just doesn't show up >_< i just want to pair it up so that i can get confirmation that it will still work when i flash android (when its available) to my touchpad :/ please help!
My Hp Keyboard works with Windows 7 and my dell streak 7 running honeystreak, no app needed. They both ask me to enter in a number upon pairing and they both work great.
I used this app to pair a new HP Touchpad keyboard I bought through Craigslist yesterday for $40. Worked within a few minutes of poking around. My Samsung Infuse is rooted, thanks to a modded Rogers ROM someone shared here. Pairing took a bit of figuring out, mostly because I have Droidwall running and hadn't granted permissions for the app. Then I installed Null Keyboard to get rid of the thumb keyboard while typing. Works AWESOMELY well in QuickOffice and other text editors.
My only complaint is a weirdness in the native email application which makes the keyboard unusable there. I can type random-length text, anywhere from a few words to a short paragraph, then it freezes for a few seconds, then I get a 'text copied to clipboard' message and the new message or reply I was starting vanishes. Not to the Drafts folder or Trash, just gone like it was never there. Doesn't happen with any other input method, as the email application seems generally stable and good. Of course I can write messages in a text editor then copy/paste them into email, but that's a bit of a pain. Anyone heard of this glitch?
Otherwise the HP keyboard is amazingly compact and comfortable to use. There are a few keys which don't seem to work at all and some weird key functions I'll have to learn, like the sideways arrow keys navigate vertically and the vertical arrows do nothing... and how Control A doesn't select all text etc, and how symbol and numeral entry uses odd key combinations, but for basic text entry it's solid. With a good external keyboard for this phone my jump from Windows Mobile is complete, I'm happy to have made the leap.
So I finally got my keyboard. It paired with Win 7 no problems. My issue now is that the "power" button did not remap to the "del" button and program "KeyTweak" doesn't even recognize the "power" button key stroke for me to remap it.

when using the keyboard with android, the keyboard looses connection when it drops into hibernate. It doesn't re-establish connection and must be re-paired from android....am I doing something wrong?
so is it only me but the delete button only deletes a letter (in a word document) at a time and does not continuously delete even if it's held down?
Holding down any key causes it to repeat for me, including the delete key. This is with a Samsung Infuse.
So what am I doing wrong? When I got to connect with any of my Android devices, I get to the password screen and it just won't connect after that. I've tried 000, 0000, 1234 etc, with no avail. Is there a special code?
When I first connected the HP Touchpad keyboard I had to enter a 6 digit code, if memory serves. It wasn't generic - rather a proper code, something you couldn't guess at particular to the pairing request. I entered it (there was a time limit too, a countdown... maybe, but I've been doing a lot of setting up of stuff on this thing and forgetting more than I remember), and since then have not been asked for it. Connecting is a bit twitchy the odd time but mostly I just toggle power on the keyboard off and on again if it's taking more than half a minute to connect. I typically see a pop-up 2 to 4 times on the phone saying the HP keyboard is connecting before it actually does.
So I am posting this everywhere as I found very little information about how to do this and trouble shooting some issues. Made a reddit post and going to post it here (I hope this is a proper place to put this).
Just hold down the PS button and Share till the light starts to flash. Go to your Bluetooth and pair the game controller.
Trouble shooting suggestions are on bottom.
Now after about 30sec, and for some unknown reason, you will run into input lag. To fix this you will need to download an app called Bluetooth Auto Connect. Once installed goto Advanced Options - Connect Now. Once you push Connect Now the input lag should be gone.
If you are looking for a clamp I just bought something called Nyko Smart Clip - PlayStation 4 on Amazon for $10. TOTALLY WORTH IT!
Trouble Shooting:
I had an issue when pairing that it would see the device but wouldn't pair. What I had to do was turn off Bluetooth, turn it back on and try again.
Another issue I had was Bluetooth Auto Connect wasn't fixing the lag issue on my Samsung Note Pro (same device I had an issue pairing, my Samsung Note 4 didn't have any of these issues). I had to uninstall sixaxis controller then restart device. Then uninstall Bluetooth Auto Connect and restart device. Then connect DS4 controller. Then install Bluetooth Auto Connect and spammed Connect Now. It seemed to work. FYI my Note Pro is rooted but my Note 4 isn't and this works on both devices!
To repair the controller to your PS4 plug it in with your charging cable and push the PS button, it will pair immediately. I personally bought a 2nd controller so I wouldn't have to do that.
Hello, I tried this with my ps 4 controller and it says that the controller is paired but the light on the controller keeps flashing and it does not respond to any input and after some time it just turns off, the Bluetooth auto connect app just says that is unable to connect to wireless controller, please help, my device is a galaxy s7 edge.
Connecting the PS4 controller works for me but can't do anything else such as can't play games or anything, maybe a future update when everyone starts to cry a bit more about how the S7 Edge isn't compatible with any controller, I have tried 3rd party controllers and the right joystick and the rest of the buttons do not work, the only thing that works is the left joystick...
Before the 7.0 Nougat update on the S7 Edge (SM-G935P) the OTP (wired) connection would crash the phone; freezing the display, hard reboot. This happened on the OFW and rooted versions. Bluetooth would pair but you'd have to try multiple times and you'd need to delete the original pairing to repair (holding the pair buttons on the controller).
After the 7.0 Nougat update, controller support had been added- albeit horribly. The only connection is an OTP connection, Bluetooth still has errors. The button configurations are wrong though, the controller is useless. Square, X and circle are all wrong and triangle doesn't even register.
This is where I'm at, anyone know of any fix? I'm not looking forward to buying a Stratus XL (works perfectly but it's 60$)

Unfortunately the guy that wrote this article is guilty of blatant douchbaggery (what good is a paired controller that cant be mapped and starts mapped completely out of whack). Yes you can 2 button pair a ds4 controller but a ds4 controller is encrypted and requires in linux and linux like os a driver called SCP (SONY CORP.SOMTHING......) That just isnt offered by any app ive seen on droid other than sixaxis. Alternately you could always hard wire it . The major flaw in this is the inability to stop the controller from charging in this case off your phone battery. As far as the mapping goes the only issue is android uses the generic abxy combo which is cross circle square triangle in ps4 speak . in retrospect .....i suppose i should have stopped reading when the author claimed no root. The controller keylayout files (.kl) are located in/system/user/keylayout. How are u supposed to do anything to those w/o root?
My tablet is Galaxy tab pro 8.4, the model number is sm-t719, Android version is 6.0.1 and I rooted my device
In the past I was using the Microsoft universal Bluetooth keyboard (the non foldable keyboard) with my tablet and i was able to pair successfully with my tablet
After that the keyboard spoilt and I bought a new keyboard which is the same model. I also was able to successfully pair with the new keyboard, but I had to return it because the built in battery is damaged and it does not charge
I just got a new keyboard which is the same model but now I am unable to pair it to my tablet. I will tell u the problem
I was able to successfully pair the Bluetooth keyboard to my windows pc. The pc detected the keyboard and it asked me to type in the pass key on the keyboard, the pass key stayed showing on my pc and it didn't go away, I typed the pass key correctly and the pairing was successful. The same thing happened when I paired with an iPhone and the pairing was successful
The problem is when I tried to pair it with my tablet. The pass key shows on the tablet, but it is going away very fast and it says pairing unsuccessful and I am not getting the chance to type in the pass key on the keyboard. If i type in a digit and press enter quickly before the pass key goes away then it will say unable to pair immediately after I press enter so it means the tablet is reading the keystrokes of the keyboard but I am unable to type in the correct pass key
Also I noticed that my tablet is not immediately detecting the keyboard. I have to press scan on the tablet a few times until the keyboard shows in available devices
I tried everything. I switched Bluetooth off then on and I even restarted the tablet. No luck. After many tries the pass key stayed showing long enough for me to successfully type in the pass key

I have been experiencing issues connecting to devices over Bluetooth. Sometimes it just works, other times it doesn't work at all, and some times it kinda works but not right.
All of these issues are resolved by restarting the phone, but that isn't a solution because the issue comes back.
3 Devices I have been having issues with
1. S Pen - Sometimes it won't connect to the phone, I get an "S-Pen Missing" message and it will not connect. If I t ry to connect to it manually via nRF Connect (The Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App) it tells me that the BLE device has a GATT error. It happens semi-randomly but I can always make it happen by doing #2
2. Car Stereo - This is the weird one, it will connect and play music, but it will not do "calls" if I connect to Discord it won't recognise the car as a Bluetooth device it can route to.
3. Raspberry Pi - This one it appears it will connect to ONCE, and then after a disconnect it will not connect again.
Again, each of these can be fixed by restarting the device, but they happen again after a while. The pen & RPi use BLE, I don't know what the car uses for calls.
Turn off global power management completely in Device Care.
Network reset, reboot and clear system cache from the boot menu.
Ok, I've done a network reset, and cleared the cache partition. I checked Device Care for something like global power management, and I couldn't find anything. Most of the pwm settings are off except the "optomise daily" setting.
I'll let you know later if I have the same issue again.
These, this is a N10+ running on Pie.
To check if you have disabled global power go to Developer options>standby apps, all buckets should show as active otherwise power management is enable.

Are those the only three devices you connect via BT? What other apps do you use that need to use BT (i.e. Galaxy Wear, Apple Music, etc.).
You mentioned "Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App." I looked it up. Why do you need a third party generic BLE connecting app? It seems to me that could be the problem. You shouldn't need a third-party app to connect your BLE devices. The S22U's native pairing will work with any BT device that adheres to BT standards.
Try uninstalling the nRF Connect app and see what happens.
The only other Bluetooth devices I have are other in-house hardware, running on SiliconLabs BGM13P chips or NRF52840 chips...
The NRF app isn't a replacement for your bluetooth pairing app, its a debugging app... it can connect to BLE devices and show their GATT profiles, update devices that have Nordic's OTA update code and copy a devices GATT profile to act as a BLE Server.
We use it for testing and debugging.

Ok. I recommend uninstalling nRF Connect anyway. If anything, to rule out the app. How old is your car and the Raspberry Pi? Even though BT 5.2 is backwards compatible, sometimes older BT devices won't work with newer devices. That doesn't account for the S Pen issue though.
I uninstalled nRF connect, and changed all the settings you both recommended. Exactly the same behaviour when I went to leave work. My car stereo would do music but not calls, then when I restarted my phone, it worked. Then when I got home, my S Pen would not connect to my phone, then I restarted my phone and it worked.
Its not a problem of not being compatible, its a problem of something stops working.
Please also note that these devices worked fine together in the past. I am concered that it is either a change made by an update or a Bluetooth chip that is faulty....
OP- Have you debloated at all and if so maybe you've removed something relevant that might be causing these issues?
No, stock image, no OS modification beyond the things that Samsung offers (GoodLock and Stock customisation)
I have our in-house apps for interacting with our equipment (over Bluetooth) installed, but #1 they shouldn't affect anything if they are not open and #2 they don't do this to ANY of our other test equipment.
I would just like to say, that I appreciate the assistance that you are all offering! I have used many forums over the years when looking for support on things and I rarely find a place that is more ready to try and help than XDA forums!

I've seen the issue of the spen disconnecting but only a couple of times and the issue worked itself out within a couple of minutes with me not having to do anything.
I've also have had a couple of wonky issues when connecting a new Samsung phone to my car. I've narrowed down my issue to the fact that when I transfer my data & settings via Samsung smart switch, it includes the details of my Bluetooth pairings. To fix it, I have to go in and delete my Bluetooth phone settings from the car and from my phone and re-pair them.

As cool as I think Smart-Switch is as a program, I actually never use it when moving from one phone to another. The junk that Google drags with me from one phone to the next is already too much, I like to use a new device as a chance to do some housecleaning. So no old-data oddities here.

Its not a problem of not being compatible, its a problem of something stops working.

Hmmm.. Ok. You're probably right about the suspect causes. I know there is a code you can dial to get into diagnostic mode, I just don't know what it is.
The only other option you can try (as a last resort) is to factory reset it. If it is update caused, a factory reset MAY fix it. If you take it to a service center, send it in for repairs, or do a warranty replacement, they're going to factory reset it, or have you reset it.

I still haven't done a factory reset, but I continue to have the issue.
I have run the BT Test in device care, it always reports good.
I tried the codes, neither of them work as the first one is for vanilla android and the second is for older versions of Samsung firmware.
I've tried completely unpairing from the car radio and re-pairing, disconnecting and connecting from the other device to no avail.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that it is a hardware fault. It could be a hardware limitation; meaning you cannot connect to more than a certain number of devices simultaneously. I don't know how many BT devices you can connect to at once. I know at least two simultaneous connections (I've only had two simultaneous connections at a time).
You said you have other BT devices in your house other than those three your having issues with. How many are there? How many are you connected to at any given moment?
Is it possible that you have too many simultaneous connections?
When you try to connect to your car.. Did you check under BT connection (your vehicle) to make sure both audio and calls are checked..

Yes, and I've disconnected, reconnected and even unpaired and re-paired the phone to the car.

Unless having multiple connections causes the BT to fail completely, no. Even after turning the car off and walking away, it still will not connect to the S Pen. The only BT devices I use with that phone regularly are:
S Pen, Car (Music & Calls)
At work I develop devices that use Bluetooth and I sometimes connect to them, but only ever one at a time.
