A strange issue that's occurred when I've flashed roms is I lost the ability to access TWRP and Phil's Touch Wiz, etc.
I'm not to sure as to why it happens, but I always end up having to repeat the whole rooting process again. IE, downgrading to Jellybean. Does anybody know why such a thing happens? And is it possible to install Recovery once you're on Lollipop with a rooted device?
I had found a TWRP version for 5.0.1 and just installed it with flashtool, but I can't find it again now that I upgraded to 5.1.1. I've also posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/whats-to-install-recovery-z3-t3176512
I had the same problem myself and not one reply-wtf. Just grab the latest (Z3-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer.zip) from http://nut.xperia-files.com/. Extract to your pc desktop. With phone on (not lockscreen), run the install.bat file. It will tell you to plug phone in and once recognized, phone will reboot with a proper working xzdr.
Thanks a lot, man. Gonna try that out as soon as I grt some free time.
Had the same issue with 5.1.1.
So far I think I've fixed it using the following steps:
1.- Downloaded SuperSU and copied to the internal storage
2.- Flash dual recovery using NUT's windows installer
3.- Once inside recovery, flash SuperSU
4.- Boot into the system and with a file explorer copied the XZDualRecovery from external storage to internal storage.
Haven't had an issue so far.

hello guys, apologies if this has been asked before, I just can't find the answer to this anywhere, not directly anyhow.
anyhow, i'm trying to install cyanogenmod 11 on my note 10.1. I have already done this on my galaxy s 3, so i am basically aware of the process. I have rooted the note, and that works fine. and had initially installed the latest version of CWM, the version recompiled for the note 10.1
i've installed the CM11 and gapps zip files to the root of my sd card (that's internal btw, I don't have a external SD) I can see the file on the device in any file manager when the device is booted up. i can move it, and root browser can see it too.
here's my problem. when i actually boot into CWM to actually install the zips, CWM can't see them. the /sdcard folder has nothing in it. this is the same even if i put the file in another location. but when i boot the device back up, there it is! it hasn't gone anywhere, it just can't be seen when the phone is in CWM mode.
thinking that it might be a issue with CWM, since the version is an unofficial recompiled version, I decided to try TWRP instead, as they have an official version for the 10.1. I installed it through odin, and it works fine, but.... IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM! it can't actually see the files to install them.
I've even tried running a rom manager on the device. if i load up the rom manager while the device is booted up normally, it can see the files, and when i press to reboot the device into recovery mode to install the files, the device reboots, it enters TWRP, and then gives an error message that basically translates to file not found!!
I just don't understand why it can see the file in normal mode, but not when in recovery, and bear in mind this is BOTH the CM11 zip, AND the gapps zip, so really it's just ALL files it can't see!
can anyone help me with this? sorry to ask, but it's got me
Hi guys
It has been a long time since my phone has been this bad.
So last night I go to charge my phone because I had ZERO battery. So I turned it on and then plugged it in. The phone booted fine but then I noticed that the screen was not shutting off. I even tried hitting the "Go to sleep" button from the pull down menu and nothing happened. I also realized the phone was not loading my calendar. When I went into the file manager it didn't show SDCARD 1 or 2.
I decided to clear the memory (dalvik + cache) = SAME PROBLEM
I did a factory restore = same problem
Finally I cleared the system = now i have no OPERATING SYSTEM ON THE PHONE
I went to the external sd card and tried to install the latest version of OMNI....IT SAYS IT CANT READ FROM THE SD CARD.
I also tried to copy the file from external sd to internal sd card and it says FAILED
I don't' know what to do...
I am using Team Win Recovery Project 2.6.3.0
I have the latest omni rom on my external sd card. I can see it but install fails.
Please help :crying:

Calm down dear. Same happened with me. I formatted /system and find that I don't have any operating system in my mobile.
Just pluggin your mobile in recovery mode to your PC. transfer the file-> Flash the ROM-> Gapps -> BINGO..
BTW, wrong area for creating a thread.
Don't worry. Do what D™ said.
Alternatively you can use "adb sideload" method. I used it once with Philz recovery. In sideload method, you won't need to copy the file in Sdcard. File existing on pc can be directly flashed. This would help if you still face problems copying file to Sdcard. Search it on google. You will find steps for it.
A bit more clear please...

It must installed drivers.. If u cant access the storage, just flash ics via odin and further known actions.

Thanks dude! I will give it a try and post a response! It was just so strange that I couldn't see any of the drives (sdcard 1 or 2) in filemanager. I guess something must have got corrupted? Right now I am trying to push from adb method mentioned from Nikhil.
I am following this procedure.

PS. the android SDK is massive!
ADB FAIL
ADB IS WAY TOO complicated for me right at this moment (actually exhausted).
********Can someone provide me with a ICS download link? *******************
I'm going to try out the ODIN method

Download Stock Indian ICS
Btw, adb sideload method is as follows.
0. Install adb for windows (assuming you have windows). (There shouldn't be any driver missing)
1. Enter into sideload mode in recovery
2. Open cmd in computer with the directory in which zip file is kept. (shift + right click -> open command prompt here would do)
3. Enter adb sideload xyz.zip
Thats it.
I've tried it with TWRP recovery in my friend's phone. It didnt work. But When I tried with Philz recovery, It worked well.
Anyway, if you are finding it complicated, flash stock ics.
Edit : Did you try "mount usb storage" in recovery? because it is required to do. else computer won't recognize your device.
success!
OK so I successfully flashed via ODIN....Can I directly flash omni now? I am assuming yes...Can I flash it through ODIN?
Also can you recommend any good versions of ICS? It is really quite a bit faster than omni...
AGAIN thank you all

Omni is best until now.
you can't flash omni via odin. Flash Philz or TWRP first and then flash omni.
Lv5 ZCLPD is best ICS Rom. But I would choose Omni over Lv5,
reinstall twrp?

Hello,
I recently was having major issues with my os., so I wanted to just share some of the information I found that was scattered all over in several different places. First of all, I had TWRP custom recovery and super su installed. I don't know how to do the following process without it. If you have root, GET TWRP NOW!!!!!! You will hate yourself if you do not have a backup.
In twrp app, under install twrp there is no lg tribute. I used the ls-990 when selecting my phone. It worked for me and looks like ls-660 upside down anyways. I picked the build 2.8.5.0.
Ok, so I downloaded the stock rom. Jmurphy posted in tribute development thread for a virgin mobile stock rom on page 125 (cant post links here yet due to newness.)
When my phone went bad, I booted automatically into recovery. I still have no idea how to get in there when all is well, but an internet search might prove useful. I booted in TWRP automatically.
Ok, one thing to mention about TWRP, It makes recovery folders when you do a TWRP backup. Do a backup on the sd. Even if you lost your os. If just to get the folder structure it makes. I went ahead and put my sd card in my laptop chip reader and navigated to the folder that had my recovery. I unpacked the zip files and overwrote the files with the same names on the sd card in the TWRP backup folder that was created when doing a backup. I then put the sd back into phone and did a recovery after wiping my os (while making sure to mount all the directories in TWRP.)
Afterwards lo and behold, I was into my os again. My phone was harassing me to make an update. I listened and updated. Then I got stuck in a TWRP bootloop.
The cure for this bootloop is a script from twrp terminal.
Carefully enter
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/fota
then hit enter
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/misc
then hit enter
this got me out of the bootloop. I hope it will work for you too. Good luck
Is there any way I can get TWRP 2 for my LG tribute?? I'm on 4.4.2 Kit Kat. Boost Mobile. Ty in advanced##???
I'm trying to get twrp for the lg665 Boost mobile. I rooted on dev with king root but I'm not sure it did a complete root. Root Checker basic says it does but the root Explorer in es file manager won't activate and when using a root Explorer in 3c tools I ran into an issue.
I was trying to replace the platform. xml file to fix the lollipop write to sd issue. I renamed it to platform. old and now I can't rename it again or copy a new xml file to the folder
Do you have SuperSU installed? You would need something to give the root permissions to your file explorer. Also, don't forget to allow access on the Developer Settings.

I'd make sure to use the version from the KingRoot site: http://KingRoot.net/wap

Update:
I replaced the Kingroot with a different root method, an app I found but don't recall. I did put super su on. All worked fime, but I sold that phone a few weeks ago

I also have SU super user and TWRP recovery installed, in fact, I've been stuck at TWRP recovery with no OS installed ever since I installed one of the updates on my device. I have an Lg Tribute 1 with an SD card slot. It was (before the OS was wiped) running on v 4.4.2 Kitkat. I've heard that if you have a SD card slot, it should be pretty easy to reinstall your operating system, but so far all the sites I've seen show complicated ways of doing it without using an SD card slot. Do I actually have to bootload my Lg Tribute to install another rom even with an SD card?
By the way, I've already installed the .zip file for Kitkat v 4.4.2, I would really appreciate it if you could show me how to install the operating system using this rom. Thanks!
Hi. I have a z380kl tablet with android 5.0.2. I have removed some of its system apps and now i want to flash stock framework to make it fresh. I have the correct firmware downloaded. I did these things and none worked: :crying:
1- copied it to root of internal storage to install it via update notification.
2- copied it to root of my memory card and used sd download but when i press sd download, it shows an android logo then goes back to previous step.
3- easy flasher doesnt recognise my tablets model.
4- cant use asus flash tools because the rom i downloaded includes only boot.img and doesnt have fastboot.img and the other file(i forgot the name).

Hi, same with me,i have zenpad8 and i try to flash with original firmware via twrp recovery, but after that completely death, (no recover, no boot, and unknown device on my PC), please help.:crying:
Hello guys!
Today i am going to show you how to root samsung galaxy A8(mentioned above) install twrp and then lastly install playstore on it without any troubles!
The problems i faced was so much critical and step by step i faced bugs and fixed them accordingly.
so we come to main topic now.
first of all reset your phone. thats because a frash phone is always perfect. btw non resetted phone also works here.
1) Now download the app in the link below called CROM_Service. open it and just wait it will unlock your bootloader.
2) Now u need drivers. download them also in the link and install on your windows 10 pc. Boot your phone in download mode by pressing home+volume down+power button. in chinese font screen press volume up and then connect you phone with pc using a fairly working usb 2.0 cable.
3) Now download CF_ROOT in the link below and and put in your worling folder better name that folder your phone name cause we always work in this folder. extract files in there. Now open Odin in that foler as admin and click AP and load the md5 file in same folder. and click start. this will flash root and restart device with a modified kernal.
(continue)
Hi where are the links for this ? Its blank.... Really need to install playstore on a chinese A8000

Hello, I'm not sure whether this is the right place for my problem but I will give it a try. I have a problem with TWRP recovery on sm-a8000 Chinese version.
Every time I try to flash any zips it fails.
Error 70 failed to mount preload (invalid argument ) I can't do factory reset either in . I'm able to root the phone and the phone works normally except for the custom recovery.
I tried to do factory reset in original recovery and it worked.
My aim is to install Google play apps.
Here are some pictures of the recovery result. My internal memory is only 3Mb in the recovery but if I connect the phone to my computer it shows 10Gb free.
Any idea what's going on?
hey,did you hv any rom of that model (sm-A8000)?
