[Q/Help]Bricked XT1032, not visible in ADB - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have unlocked bootloader, rooted phone and installed TWRP recovery without any problems. I made one huge mistake - I wiped system and data, so Im left with no OS and no image to flash from memory. I can access TWRP wihout any problems, but i cannot use OTG mode (i cannot check box to mount it and in explorer usb is empty). When i connect my phone to PC i cannot flash using ADB, it cannot find the device. Fastboot can see it though. What do I do now, how to revive my phone?

You need to use the mfastboot method. Check this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=47820707. Download the firmware (ideally 4.4.2 or 4.4.3) in *.xml.zip format, and do all the steps at the tutorial. Skip 3a) and go to 3b) - the one with mfastboot commands.
That's what helped me when I accidentally deleted my system - I also made a thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/help/bricked-moto-g-xt1032-converted-to-gpe-t3054655.

Ya.. Using mfastboot and typing out those commands as given in tuitorial you can install stock firmware to your phone using the Adb.. Its not hard bricked. Don't worry. Had faced the same issue last month.
Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk

I cannot flash sparsechunk 1,2 and 3 files, but it can be ROM's fault. I'll download another one to check if its working
EDIT: using another ROM worked for me, thanks for help

Sorry for pushing this old thread.
My phone is also stucked, adb cannot find my device. How do I do it then? If my device is not listed, is it possible using fastboot to get back to the old stock Firmware?

[Q] Motorola Moto G Lost OS

Hey guys,
Recovery : TWRP 2.6.3.3
USB Debugging : Off
Cannot connect to PC.
Recently, I accidently formatted my Moto G through the advanced wipe and I selected all the partitions to be wipe such as dalvik cache, data, internal storage, cache and system. And now my Moto G doesn't have any OS in it and I can't reboot it at all. I don't have any idea what to do right now. Can someone please help me how can I install a new rom for my Moto G so I can use it like a normal phone again. Please no harsh words, I know it's my mistake and I really need help.
Make sure you post things like this in the Q&A section ull get better help over there then in this General section

If you are able to go to recovery(which you should be able to do), download any custom ROM of your choice like PA, CM, SLIM etc.. flash that rom by following the Installation instructions in the thread. YOu should be able to get the phone back to normal. And if you want the stock ROM, then download the stock files and flash it, you might loose custom recovery, then follow the same things you did to get TWRP in the first place.

I would if I could. The problem is I formatted the whole phone which included the internal storage too. My CM Rom is in the internal storage and it's already deleted. I tried to connect my phone to the pc so that I could transfer a rom into it but failed cause my pc won't recognized my phone as the media transfer devices. It's only recognized my phone as fastboot falcon s. I've installed Motorola Device Manger but it's also failed. I also tried to install using adb sideload but I got device not found error and my phone doesn't listed in the device attached after I typed 'adb devices'. For the OTG and memory card reader method I haven't try yet because I don't have any of it.

What does it say when you try
Code:
adb devices
or
when you reboot to bootloader with phone connected and type
Code:
fastboot devices
If it shows a device for fastboot devices then follow this to flash back to stock. Make sure you download the right stock firmware for your phone.

It seems like you dont have fastboot files. Follow the same link that i posted in the previous one. It has portable adb & fastboot files. Download that and then follow instructions. You should be able to get to fastboot. Once you are there the job is almost done. Hope it helps
Edit: Here is the link to download and install the minimal adb & fatsboot files

I've followed all the instructions but my phone still not rebooting. When I try to reboot it, it only show me the warning of unlocked bootloader screen, black screen, warning of unlocked bootloader screen then dead android screen. What should I do now?
It means your phone is in fastboot mode and recognised by your PC. Next you'll have to "fastboot flash" the necessary files to install a recovery and a system, and you should be good to go.
Few weeks back I ****ed up soft bricked my phone had kindda same issue when I switch my phone on I get a dead android logo. Gave to the service center in India and got a replacement a new xt1033
P.s I was trying to root and my warranty was void still got a new one try your luck bruhhh

Hey, I've done all of the flashing instruction from the xda forum link that you gave me. My problem for now is, why is my phone not rebooting? The only thing that happen after the flashing is my phone only show the 'warning bootloader unlocked' and the dead android with red triangle screen. It won't boot into the stock rom that I've flashed. The stock rom/firmware that I used is correct. Please help me.. I really need to use my phone.

K there's a resolve for this...Provided that you haven't ****ed up your phone by making it hard bricked...
1 - Get a freaking rom and sideload it through TWRP to boot into system...
+ Download a ROM
+ Put it in the same folder as ADB and Fastboot and rename it to something easier that you can type exactly (ex: 1.zip, backup.zip...)
+ Shift + Right Click at a blank field in the window
+ Choose Open Command....
+ On TWRP, go to Advanced => Sideload => Tick the 2 boxes => Swipe to start sideloading
+ Type in adb sideload <yourzipname>.zip on the cmd (on your computer)
+ Wait for the process to finish, then you now have a working phone...
2 - Follow this guide using the proper firmwares that match your original one : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2542219

Your PC will not recognize it as media transfer / storage while you are in bootloader / fastboot mode, its perfectly normal. When you type fastboot devices it should show you a number which means it working as intended. This is an old thread but it shows how to transfer your ROM to sdcard via adb push command. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667929

The output of the "fastboot devices" command clearly shows your phone is recognised by your PC. As I said all you need to do now is use the correct "fastboot flash" commands to restore recovery and system. Tutorials can be found in this forum.
Thank you.

(SOLVED) Bootloop after backup

Hi guys, i just made a mess with my wife Moto G, i had Tesla ROM installed in it, everything was working fine but i just decided to make her a Backup using TWRP, the backup process went fine and i rebooted the phone, now i was stuck at Motorola Logo and can enter to Recovery anymore, tried fastboot erasing userdata and now i am stuck at ROM logo but nothing more.
I appreaciate your help. Thanks in advance.
Erasing userdata allows you to boot back into TWRP, but ROM is corrupt and needs to be reflashed. Best do a factory reset in TWRP and flash.

Similar thing happened with my xt1033. It got stuck at bootloader after taking a backup with twrp. Advice you to flash the latest version of twrp(forgot the version name, but it has material design), that has resolved the issue for me, I could take a backup and reboot. And you should use mfastboot to flash the stock firmware into your phone. Even for me, the phone was not getting detected, but the files were flashed anyways. Check other forums for the steps to flash stock firmware. Make sure to extract all the files from the zip of the stock firmware in the same folder where mfastboot is.

Can I still install any recovery(CWM or TWRP) after I have forgotten my password?

My question is: Is there any way that i can install any custom recovery now, when I am locked out of my phone, so I can try Method 7 from this post . I have enabled USB debugging, but for some reason, my device is unauthorized from executing adb commands.
I have Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, and have forgotten its password. I have tried Method 2, 5 and 6 from this post, but to no avail.
I tried method 2 and 5 which requires ADB to be installed, but I was not able to access my phone. I have USB debugging enabled and my phone is not rooted. When I tried to run the following code:
Code:
adb devices
adb shell
it showed that my phone is unauthorized and error: device unauthorized This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Here's the screenshot:
When trying method 6, I had to change the path of ADB driver because the file I downloaded from the post, had its own ADB driver which clashed with my already installed ADB driver, but even after that, it again showed the above error. Here' the screenshot:
Finally I want to try method 7 from the above post, which requires custom recovery to be installed on the phone, is there any way now?
Though it seems now that the I have only one option left and that is to factory reset my phone, but if , there is any other way by which I can bypass my lock screen, please please please inform me.
Of course you can. Just boot your phone into fastboot and do "fastboot flash recovery <recovery image name>.IMG" and you'll flash it. And you can't access the adb because your screen is locked... This is how companies prevent phone hacking
So flash custom recovery, backup the /data , factory reset and after resetting restore the /data backup. And you're good to go. I suggest you using TWRP, because I use it and it never left me hanging Keep me updated.

OK... So first boot into fastboot. When you've done that, connect It to your pc with usb, download fastboot package from somewhere on xda(you'll find it).
Open command prompt "CD" to the directory where your fastboot is located in, put recovery image in the folder where fastboot.exe is and type "fastboot flash recovery <recovery file name>.IMG". I'm gonna update this answer in 2 days, when I get to my pc, so try to do it by these instructions, if something isn't working, comment and we'll resolve the problem. If something isn't clear, just ask. Keep me updated.

Can unlocking my bootloader somehow brick my phone?
Everything can brick your phone. Updating my lenovo phone with official update hardbricked mine... But yeah, it can.

Moto G 1st Gen no OS installed

I have a problem with my Moto G 1st gen. It seems while attempting to flash a new ROM onto the device, I have somehow managed to delete the OS. I am trying to flash the stock ROM back onto the device, but unfortunately I am unable to as the device does not appear on my computer when I plug it in using a USB cable. I am using the TWRP custom recovery. I would like to be able to restore the original ROM and use the device as normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Device:
Moto G 1st Gen (XT1033)
TWRP Recovery installed
OS is missing
When I attempt to boot the device, it gives me the unlocked bootloader warning.
To recover your ROM, use your backup. If you do not have a backup ... it's bad.
Have you tried booting in fastboot? Does your mobile show up in the taskbar icons tray as ADB Device or Motorola ADB Composite Device? If not, check if you've proper drivers installed or not. Once you've the phone being detected, you can easily flash the stock rom using mfastboot commands.

It's probably TWRP Recovery that changed the model detection. Now, either install the stock ROM or flash a custom ROM.

Hi ppl. I need help bad! I accidentally erased my os. So when I try to flash a rom using the mi flash tool(which is amazing) it won't work because I have no operating system to enable USB debugging.so it says enable USB debugging but I can't. Any help would be appreciated TW RP installed unlock bootloader. Thanks in advance!!
just flash recovery rom using twrp then.
Way ahead of you..I tried to transfer several times, files, etc from my PC for some reason two stops halfway and doesn't copy them or move them. Only thing I haven't tried it is ADB sideload.. for some reason that never seems to work for me or work out the way I wanted to.
So twrp is flashed? Then yes try sideload. Also make sure your ADB is up to date as I've had that cause issues with large files and sideload before.

Miflash doesn't need for usb debugging to flash rom I believe. It's all fastboot. If ur phone is not detected by pc, it means drivers.
It does indicate USB debuging not on. So yes it does . I've used it before to flash TWRP. The flash will also install the drivers before you use it so I can understand why it won't let me transfer anything from PC to phone when fastboot mode. It won't let me get past that stuff in this USB debugging is enabled. Frustrating brand new phone to only a couple weeks old.
Have you booted to twrp and format data (the one where you have to type "yes")?
Mi flash only required adb because it needs to run adb reboot fastboot. I'm in the States as well, PM me and maybe we can get this guy working over remote support. I haven't seen this issue myself, so I can't comment much.

Its all good. I'm about to pick up my kids from school, so let me head home, I'll PM you in a bit. We can use TeamViewer or something. If it comes down to it, I also have my work login to use for remote assist. You just need a semi up to date laptop or desktop computer.
Hopefully we can get this solved quickly. I'm unfortunately not in your immediate area, otherwise much easier hands on. The company I work for is down the street from your location however, I'm just a remote systems guy.

I had the exact issue two days ago and the only thing that worked was to manually flash to stock. Since you already have the fastboot rom downloaded and extracted the hard work is done. What you need to do is to put all the files from that main folder (images) into a folder that you have adb installed. Then with your phone connected in fastboot open up a command prompt and once you have the directory set to where your fastboot is type the following and wait until each is done and says okay to move on.
fastboot flash modem modem.img
fastboot flash tz tz.img (I can't remember if this one actually flashed. I think it failed but it didn't matter)
fastboot flash logo logo.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img (this one will take a long time to start flashing, don't worry. Also, there are about 5 files it will flash so be patient)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
fastboot reboot
That puts you back to stock. I spent almost a whole night freaking out because I didn't have an OS and I couldn't get TWRP to reinstall. Once I did that and got things going I downloaded the same versions update on the phone (the one that can be flashed through the update page in settings) and did a flash of that as well.

The OP's issue was solved by just flashing TWRP, booting to it and sideloading the Stock ROM. I had the OP download the fastboot files as well, but we ended up not needing them.
