I made a TWRP backup of the stock Image (without Root), available here : http://moto.shreps.fr/?dir=Moto G 2015 (osprey)/rom/stock_XT1541_5.1.1_LPI23.72-22
You can unpack the system img, and you will get all the stock files

Converting factory images to recovery-flashable zips

Hi,
I want to try L developer preview with multirom, but I need to convert the factory image to a normal zip which can be flashed trough recovery.
Can anyone point me to a tutorial on how to do that?
As a linux user I would use smg2img to convert the system image to raw then I would mount that as ext4 and extract the folders and put them in an existing flashable zip.

you would need to build/compile it like everyone else does.
I thought that someone mentioned yesterday in one of the 1,000s of I/O threads, that MultiRom wouldn't be supported yet bc it is kernel based or someting like that. Not sure what the kernel is on the L, but you may want to ask the MultiRom devs if this is even possible at this point before you flash and get into toruble. Saves you some headache, hopefully.
Edit: @rootSU @simms22
We seem to be all on the same page here. lol. Good work guys. :highfive:
Yes, do not flash to MutliROM.

Just an update, you can flash to MultiROM now.

And then we end up with around 3 "ROM" threads of the same thing in Development section lol

[Q] Does anyone have a copy of the stock 4.4.3 Mail apps?

Does anyone have, or know where I can find, a copy of the 4.4.3 stock mail & exchange apps?
I'm running modded versions, which I need to restore to stock before I can apply the 4.4.4 update (getting bored of seeing the notification now) - and have misplaced my own backup copies.
Thought a factory restore would have done the job - but didn't!
Thanks
The factory update zip would be a good place to look

Thanks, I'll give that a go - not extracted files from a factory image before, but do have the image so I'll give it a try!

Would be easier to find a rooted stock flashable zip file. The factory images have .img files which take effort to extract

Cheers, I will call that one plan B then - I've managed to extract the files - just moving the to app folder now!
(this link was very useful for the extract process http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2294909)
Fab, was able to get it all to work using the extracted files - and learnt something new in the process (how to extract from an image)
thanks for the help.

he seems already have root. if he is on rooted LB, this is not a good choice. reverting to KK to get root again may need internal storage to be wiped.

Right !
You may recover any system apps by extracting and mounting « system.ext4 » linux file system from flashable zip firmware.

You would have to pull the system.img from your phone and extract and deodex it, since there is not a deodexed rom for the android one version.
