Recommended Apps not Showing in Notification Panel - Sprint Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recommended Apps is not showing in my notification panel when earphone is plugged in.
There is also no headphone icon when it is plugged in. I wonder if that could be the reason why the Recommended Apps do not appear even though the function has been turned on.
I've tried searching for any options in SQLite Editor to no avail.
My phone is running rooted Stock ROM Lollipop 5.0.

Don't you have a separate option named "Notification panel" under "Sound and display" in Settings?
If no, then you can try a factory reset.
If yes, then maybe your headphone has got the problem, or in the worst case it might be the faulty port...

VZW Messaging App Help needed, under Settings > Notifications menu item missing

I rooted my Verizon SGS3 a few days ago. Before rooting, I remember it was bugging me that it wouldn't vibrate for incoming txt msgs, whether in normal, vibe mode or silent mode. Then I found out I had to go to the messaging app settings, and under "Notifications" on the bottom there was an option to enable vibration for messages, "always", "only on silent" and "never". After I rooted, I never checked that again since it worked fine and I had vibration notification for messages. After root though, I did a few other things, among those disabled constant wifi notification with SQLite, turned of the wifi pop-up, installed volume+ to increase volume (which also added "music effects" under sound settings), and patched "audio_effects" (/system/etc) from inside root tools in volume+ (didn't backup original audio_effects file though).
Anyway, I just went back into messaging settings to change something else, and noticed under "Notifications" in the stock messaging app, there is no longer any option to change vibration settings. Is that something that is missing because of something different in the root /system partition (I used a fully STOCK root image by the way, then removed things on my own), or is it because of something I did after rooting? I just never checked under messaging settings immediately after root, so I don't know what exactly caused it.
If anyone has a stock rooted, or stock unrooted Verizon SGS3, please go to the main page in messaging, hit the menu button and go to settings, scroll all the way down, and post here what "Notification" options you have. I only have "Notification" with a checkmark, and "Select ringtone", I know there were more options before. If somehow I'm mistaking, would the vibration notification option for messaging be somewhere else?
Thank you
I have it in the Messaging settings page under Notifications "Vibrate". Make sure that you are in the messages list window where it shows all of your messages, and not viewing an individual thread.
Yes, I am in the main messaging window that shows a list of threads, not in any specific thread. That's the only window that gives you the "Settings" option with the menu button. I knew it used to be there.
So you have 3 options: "Notification", "Ringtone" and "Vibration"?
I just went back to the original Nandroid backup I made immediately after root, and vibrations is not available there either, so rooting must have somehow removed that option from settings.
Are you rooted or stock unrooted?
Thank you

[Q] notification bar icons/popup disappears?

The app icons disappear from my lower right section, all except for the time, wifi, battery, and dock battery. I cannot open the window that usually pops up when I press that area.
It seems to work again after a reboot but this has happened a few times now. Any ideas? I'm on stock jellybean. I have a few edits in the build.propfrom the tweaks page.
Another user said that the notification panel popped up fine but the ASUS quick panel was completley gone. Both work for me just fine, but I could have sworn I could, from the popup, directly unmount my microSD before and now I cannot.
I'm going to factory reset it and see if it makes a difference.

[Q] Disable Edge Panel Audio, swipe "Favorite Apps Panel"

Swiping from panel to panel plays audio "Favorite Apps Panel 1 of 2" etc when I switch from Edge panel to Edge panel. The volume is the media volume so even on silent it plays unless I set media volume to zero. How do I disable this. I just got the phone setup and I don't think it was doing this out of the box. How do I turn off the Audio "Favorite Apps Panel 1 of 2" etc from playing.
Thanks

A carrier may help diagnose this...
I haven't seen this on any models I've handled.
I am having this problem too. So annoying
Not sure if this helps, but I finally figured out that the problem would start happening as my Note Edge was using the built in Google Backup and Restore as it installed(Restored) apps from my previous phone(HTC M8).
I could tell exactly when the problem was going to start happening as Apps were being Restored from Google Backup. At a certain point I could see during auto app install that the Solid Microphone on the Google search widget had gone hollow, so it wasn't listening for "Ok Google" anymore. At that point swiping the edge panel would trigger audio.
I factory reset multiple times, and tried to figure out a specific app that was causing the problem but I was never able to determine the exact app or restored data that was causing the audio problem.
The only way I found around the problem was not selecting Google Backup and Restore on initial setup, and manual installing all of my apps. It was a pain in the butt but fixed the audio playing during swiping of the edge screen. I turned Google Backup and Restore back on after getting everything setup, and have been working fine since my original post.
You legend! I was on the phone to Samsung and they had no idea. They're meant to be calling me back. Will let them figured it out them self.
Do you have Settings -> Device -> Accessibility -> Vision -> TalkBack ON? Switch it off if you do.

Shut Up Edge Screen
I'm having the same issues, and I didn't use Google auto backup / install to move from my note 3. I'm just about ready to turn this thing in. There is nothing worse or more annoying than reaching into your pocket and hearing it just "Blah blah blah" .
I have no accessibility settings turned on, talk back is off. Google voice typing off, S Voice off... So why is it still "Blah blah blahing?"

Not sure what exactly blah blah blah is but under language and input settings , there is a "read notifications aloud menu" make sure all those are unchecked.
Solution worked for me - without factory reset
Hello,
I was struggling same issue on edge panel swipe and I didn't wanted to do factory reset or skip google restore as @JonMotz suggested, dealing with media volume turned down most of the time.
However I did following and that fixed the issue on my Note Edge:
1. goto Settings
2. goto Backup and reset
3. select Reset Settings and confirm
This will wipe settings on device (such as wifi/ some accessibility settings etc.) but it also cleared annoying voice announcements on edge panel swipe, while it kept installed apps and accounts.
Solution based on JonMotz try/error research - thanks.

This didn't worked for long time, something changed the setting and after a week I was able to hear those notifications about panel switching again. I might aim at factory reset without backup restore for solution.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem with my "Note Edge"
My solution to this was to
Open "Settings"
Open "Application Manager"
Open "Samsung text-to-speech-engine"
Tap "force stop" (strangely at this point it kept going)
Tap "clear cache"
Tap "clear data"
After this my troubles had disappeared.
I hope this is helpful.

[Q] LED Notification Light Settings on CM11

I swear older builds of CM11 used to have a settings panel that let you configure the LED notification colors for different apps. It seems to have disappeared though. Is there any way to reenable it? I'd rather avoid installing third party apps to do it if possible.
You could try anycut.apk . Look what comes up. Make a shortcut. Then delete the app. I found some interesting things that im not completely sure are accessible otherwise.

Third Party SystemUI Tuner Not Changing Settings on LG X Venture?

Hello, I recently purchased a new LG X Venture, running android 7.0. I was very annoyed that it can't go into do not disturb mode from pressing the volume button down, so I looked into it, and discovered SystemUI Tuner, a feature that supposedly can enable/disable this feature. Unfortunately, SystemUI Tuner is also apparently disabled by default (thanks LG), so I downloaded the third party recreation of SystemUI Tuner from the app store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zacharee1.systemuituner&hl=en_US). My phone is not rooted, so I had to enable the permissions the app needs with adb. I followed the instructions on the app and also here (https://www.howtogeek.com/318539/how-to-get-androids-system-ui-tuner-on-non-stock-devices/) to get adb working with my phone and windows 7 computer. Eventually, everything seemed to work, and I typed in the three adb permission lines while connected over adb. I didn't get any output from any of the lines, but no errors either, so I would guess they worked. I then proceeded in the app, and started playing around with the settings. Among other things, I disabled a lot of icons in the phone status bar (as well as enabling auto detect), enabled extreme night mode, and enabled "DND Switch in Vol Slider".
The night mode definitely changed the tint of my screen, as soon as I clicked it. But the other two settings don't seem to have changed anything, even after a restart. My taskbar is still the same, with icons that I tried to hide still there. And most importantly, the volume button still doesn't put the phone into DnD mode. I hold it down until the phone is on vibrate, then I click it down again, and nothing happens. I can enable DnD mode from the taskbar, but then I can't exit it either from the volume keys.
Any idea what might be wrong? I am very determined to correct this.
