Hello, I'm new to this forum and need help. I install Cromi-x and it is running slow. What is the best OS for asus tf700 and how do I go from cromi-x to new os?
It's not only about WHAT you install, but also HOW you install.
Do you have the required bootloader/recovery combo for the rom you want to flash?
Did you all necessary wiping/formatting?

I just picked up a used TF101 and have been reading the threads learning more about my new ( used ) toy.
The tablet just recently updated itself to ICS 4.0.3 with Kernel 2.6.39.4 & 9..2.1.27 and now I would like to root the device and look at the possibility of loading new roms etc.
I have read the forum until my eyes hurt. Is there someone that can point me at the correct thread to root my device safely?
Thanks

To get root & custom recovery, the following methods are reported to be working with the latest Asus ROM:

I have personally used the first method about a month ago, no problem with my tf101 and the latest ROM (9.2.1.27)

I've can also vouch for the first method on TF101G with latest ICS ( [TOOL]PERI-0.4 One click root+recovery/fix-bootloops+soft-bricks ALL Devices V0.4). Just install it on the PC, run the .BAT file and follow the instructions to root and install Custom Recovery on the Transformer.
The only issue I've had is that its custom Recovery won't seem flash the ASUS stock ROM for some reason. So what I do now is use the above tool to get root and Custom Recovery, then use that to flash ClockWorkMod Recovery v6.0.1.4 NoTouch Hybrid from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1855686 - click the Download link and get the cwm-6.0.1.4-notouch-hybrid.zip file (apparently the Touch version is currently broken).
From CWM recovery you should be able to flash any custom ROM and kernel etc., and also return to stock by flashing the ASUS stock ROM from their download site (make sure you select the right one for your model and unzip it first - for some reason they put the zip ROM inside another zip).
If you do return to stock, don't forget you'll also lose root and custom recovery so you'll need to start over.
Good luck!

Yes,follow the guide from that link and you will be fine.Or you could flash the Original Asus Rom from TWRP ,then flash CromiX . ( keep in mind that after flashing a full Asus rom you will also loose the custom recovery).
Been researching the unlock/rooting process for my TF300T and have a few questions. I have the 4.1.1 bootloader.
So the process appears to be:
unlock
flash recovery (for 4.1.1)
backup
flash custom rom
1) Should I upgrade to 4.2.1 first? Seems like not as I have read the unlock process is sketchy on 4.2.1. But many of the ROM's only work if you have 4.2.1, so is there a process for updating to 4.2.1 AFTER unlocking and installing a recovery?
2) Getting root seems to be a separate step on this tablet that I do not understand very well. The phones that I have rooted have always obtained root through a custom ROM, but the threads I read here seem to refer to getting root through a separate step. Can someone please clarify this for me as well?
3) Finally, this may be a preference thing, but it seems that for 4.2.1 TWRP is the only viable recovery. For 4.1.1 I can choose TWRP or CWM. Is there a reason for choosing one over the other? I have used both on my phones and been happy with both. I would default to TWRP since there seems to be issues with CWM on 4.2.1 unless someone else has a valid reason to consider CWM. May not be an issue depending upon response to #1 above.
Many thanks!
Hello, everyone.
I have recently bought a new Asus TF700t. Cant say i'm happy with tablet performance. So i decided to flash Cromix.
There few things that i do not clearly understand
I already installed a new firmware update from Asus V10.6.1.14.10.
Is it still safe to unlock and root the device? Or i will have to perform FW and ASUS Transformer Pad Kernel Code for Android 4.2.1 JB OS V10.6.1.14.10 downgrade to V10.6.1.14.8?
ASUS Transformer Pad Kernel Code for Android 4.2.1 JB OS (V10.6.1.14.10)
Do i need to copy cromix installer on SD card, or internal memory would be fine?

Welcome aboard..
Yes, it is safe to unlock your device but you will loose your warranty and hope that you know it.. You will be happy with the performance of the Cromi X.. :good:
You only need to downgrade to .8 if you want to use motochopper to get root and then install your custom recovery, prefer TWRP 2.6.1.0. You can learn how to use fastboot to install your custom recovery without a hassle of rooting if you willing to learn. I think that it is a better method but it is just my two cents..
It does not matter where you have your Cromi X as long as you can access to it when you want to install it. The outcome is the same but I prefer to have it on my external sd in case I want to format my internal sd for a clean install... You can learn more how to install Cromi X from the first post and the link is here:

Good luck
My tablet currently has TWRP (latest version from the StockOTA tutorial on the forums) installed as well as a custom rom (CyanogenMod) installed on to the tablet. I'm looking to restore Stock or an optimized Stock rom onto the kill switch wifi K1 tablet, but the problem is I can't find the latest available OTA download? Is it the Recovery OS on NVIDIA's site?
Are these the right steps to have me running the proper setup?
Boot TWRP Recovery
Flash NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet K1 Recovery OS Image (5.1.0)
Flash TWRP Custom Recovery (Supposedly this gets erased in the process from what I've read on the forums)
Flash 'nomoreota.zip'
Flash 'SuperSU' from the stockOTA thread
Delete some sort of (Nvidia or Stock)OTA.apk file in the system partition
If anyone has any suggestions or tips, please help if you don't mind. I've read through a couple threads here, and honestly, I'm pretty lost...I just think that my current rom is lacking in performance, but I don't want the device to brick.
