How can I assess my battery life?
I feel it drains so fast esp. when playing asphalt 8
Thanks in advance
I had the same problem but after reversing back to 2.3 the probem is gone.
Battery life was poor on my L04 while running CM11, so I reverted to stock EMUI 3.0 (B370). You can use some apps on the playstore like GSAM Battery Monitor, although just reverting to stock rom noticeable improved my phone's battery life.

Hi,
I tried different Costum Roms and stock roms, but with none of them I can get a good battery life. The best I could get were 7h and 20% battery drain while stand by with cyanogenmod 7. I could not beat this even with stock rom. But there has to be some rom with better battery life. Can someone suggest me a good rom with good battery life? Performance doesnt really matter for me, every rom is fast enough I think.
CM7 is the best for me with battery life. Try Juice Defender. It turns data off while screen is locked. Helps a lot for me.
With Cm7 by xboarder56 I have 49% Android system usage and 31% Mobil-network standby and just 6% Standby with 2 min runtime, so it seems that something keeps the phone running. But i cant figure out what it is...
I am currently with RealICS rom and MESA kernel but it seems the battery is draining way too fast, especially when in call, after 4-5 minutes it drains like 2-3%.
So please tell me if GB would be better for the battery life, or it all depends on the kernel?
I would like to know that too. What kernel and ROM should I use to have best battery life. I use GPS allot and it drains battery pretty fast. Thanks!
Recently I've been experiencing absolutely terrible battery life. I lose about 1% every five minutes with the screen on - sometimes even faster - and find myself increasingly unable to last a full (work) day without having to plug in at least once. My current ROM/Kernel are LolliGPE (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716306) and Elite kernel from when I switched from stock Kit Kat back in December. It's worth noting that I haven't gotten around to updating either since their installation. I can't remember how my battery life was back in December nor before Lollipop, but I'm almost certain it was better than it was now.
My questions are:
What ROM/Kernel do you recommend for the best battery life?
Are there any apps I should check for and uninstall that drain battery?
In general, how can I increase my battery life?
Thanks!

1. Rom/kernel combinations in regards to battery life, or pretty much anything, is a completely subjective experience. You're better off trying different combinations for yourself and seeing what works best for you.
2. To see if you have any rogue apps, better battery stats probably does the best job showing what is using your battery. If an app is an issue it'll show you exactly what's causing it.
3. Best way to improve battery life is to monitor your battery stats with a battery monitor and try to control your wakelocks as much as possible. You can Google search exactly what process is keeping your phone awake and fix your problems one by one.
In my opinion, the three biggest things that truly affect battery life is mobile signal connection, Internet connection strength, and Google services such as Google now. Trying a different firmware version could increase your battery life as well as trying different rom/firmware combinations.
I'm running Adrenaline 1.2 with quantum kernel 1.25 on stock 4.4.4 firmware. I'm getting the best battery life I've ever had with that combo. Then again, in bright light where the screen has to run at full brightness and with a less than stellar signal, it will still eat through power pretty quickly. It's just the nature of the beast.
Odd I am stock non-root and see the best battery I have ever had with Android

After experiencing the same problem as yours with the two mentioned kernels, i seek for solution and found one. backup all my contacts, sms, call log, bookmarks, apps then i did a clean install of fluent rom based on sprint port cos i love lollipop and the two devices are similar in many ways. Surprisingly i get 6hours of usage with just 20% gone and at least about 3 -4 h screen on at the same time. so my advice is to try clean install.

Here are Buckmarble's own recommended settings with the Elite Kernel:
Governor: ragingmolasses
Ioscehd: fiops
Read ahead: 1024
UV: -24 across the board
2265 max 300 min
I use Trickster Mod to set these. I have heard that the frequencies don't stick, but I haven't bothered to check because battery life (running Fluent ROM 2.0) is stellar. I put my M8 on extreme powersave yesterday when it was at 100% because I'm testing a different handset and when I returned to the M8 late yesterday evening it was "all the way" down to 95%.
I've had 0,3-0,5% battery drain per hour (in standby) on stock 4.3 Jelly Bean. After update to KitKat, my battery started to drain faster and it was somewhere around 1,0-1,5%/h so I downgraded back to the Jelly Bean and all was normal again. Now, I updated to 5.1.1 AOSP Lollipop and even with everything off and all battery friendly settings, I'm experiencing exactly the same issue: 1,0-1,5% battery drain/h. I've made a new record with 14,5 days of battery life with light use (on 4.3) and now it's not possible to go over 4-5 days in IDLE ! I've made a factory reset/wiped everything. How is it possible that Lollipop causes me this battery drain when Jelly Bean didn't do it ?
I monitored my battery with wakelock detectors for 3 days but there is no wakelocks and device is (as apps said) in deepsleep most of the time.
Any suggestions ? I like new system but with this terrible battery life it's really annoying.

Terrible battery life would be less than 10-12 hours for me with mixed use. What do you use your smartphone (more like pocket computer nowadays) for anyway? 14 days of standby probably means not touching it at all, so why bother switching it on?
lp make more use of battery and processor , the only thing that I can do, to got a good time of battery is turn off all animations , in the OP you say "AOSP" you use a rom? the last build of alberto have battery drain , y recomend aosparadox is really cool
@davider222
I also want a great battery life. Do you know where can I download Android 4.3 for Moto G ? Beacuse I can't find any .zip costum ROM or Motorola ROM.
@Eurofighter_ty
you can't downgrade from 5.1 bootloader to older 4.3 bootloader because you will probably hardbrick your device but here are some links from xda

All KitKat and Lollipop firmwares
@STR4NG3R-GUY
I have 20150909 version, it's also impacted by battery drain ? I have just tested GPS and it consumed only 13% of battery during 6 h long bicycle trip so I'm experiencing only stand by battery drain, normal use is probably fine
@davider222
if you have that issues , why stay in lollipop ?, downgrade to kitkat :3
My S6 is 1.5 weeks old. I have it rooted, using greenify, etc. The battery seems to drain faster than I'd like.
Any thoughts as to how to dramatically improve it?
Grain bettery life using Custom rom
Use Custom rom with battery Optimising kernel will help you .
