Here is a shot of the reset button location on my GTAB. Seemed a little different from some pictures - although not hard to find lol. Thought might as well take a shot and upload it while I was in there. Opened it because I got a SOD from PLUGGING IN THE USB to COMPUTER while tab was asleep - I CAN say moron Used the instructions on another thread (one about installing a GPS) One press and it rebooted ...

Team DRH (the creators of the gtab ICS rom) is named after the holes they drilled in the back of their tablets to easily access the reset button. So yes, you can, but you will have to take the back off once to do it. With the back removed, make sure your measurements are correct, and drill a small hole just big enough for a toothpick or paper clip to fit through. Then clean the debris off the back cover and put the Gtab back together.
You can also let the tablet run completely out of power. That is also supposed to reset it, but it takes forever, especially if you are stuck in APX mode.
By the way, in over a year with my Gtab on many different roms and almost a month now on ICS, I have not ever had to use the reset button. Point is, you might want to wait till you need to push the button to drill the hole. You might never need it.

I'm just saying it might be easier to just get some good reset button coordinates and drill the hole instead of opening the case but i didn't know that draining the battery would also reset it. thats good info. I havn't had any problems yet but i would rather not open it and just drill a tiny hole where the reset button is when and if i have problems.
Yep, there is that damn reset button. I've only had to open mine up once, and a coworkers up once (she didn't have the SOD, her's was actually stuck on and not responding)... but if I have to open it up again, I'm drilling a DRH into it.
When you have your tablet opened up take a clear plastic bag and set it across the tablet. Mark the 4 screw holes and mark the reset hole on it. Then take this "guide" and flip it around and match up the 4 screw holes you drew with the ones on the back cover. Mark the reset hole location and drill the hole. Seriously, before you drill make sure the orientation of everything is proper. This is the easiest way to mark the reset hole. I did it this way and mine turned out like such.
It looks very professional and you can barely tell that it is there.
EDIT: I do want to add this. If anyone gives out dimensions I would not go and attempt to punch a hole without removing the back case. The clearance between that back of the case and the mainboard is much too close and any small slip of the hand will send you drilling into the board.

However, interestingly enough, this was after UNplugging it from the PC while it was shutting down (from within CWM) after checking it could connect (using the "adb devices" command - after finally getting the drivers to work on my PC). ADB finally worked perfectly, but when I went to shut it down, I unplugged it from the PC before it was actually shut down, and it is now stuck on the black screen w/ the TeamDRH logo and says "Shutting down....".
So, apparently it's not just plugging it in while asleep that we need to worry about! Do not unplug it while shutting down from CWM!

Ya I've been there myself too. You are the first person I've seen report on that issue so it seems that it does happen when you pull the cord out while shutting down recovery...werid...
Reset hole completed in less than 1/2 hr. Problem solved!!!
Just some additional info that might help anyone else planning to do the reset hole: I found that using a piece of wax paper was perfect for marking the screw holes and reset hole (using a sharpie). Then, laying the wax paper over the case, use an exacto knife to cut a tiny hole in the wax paper where the reset hole goes -- then you can mark the dot/circle on the case with sharpie. This marked it spot on!
Had to Drill the DRH
I left my G-tab running while running the Team DRH ICS. I went to DRH ICS once before, but found it laggy and went back to Flashback. Had nothing but problems after that. So back to DRH. Anyway, was plugged in to power and had it connected to the PC via USB. No problem.
However, I forgot about all that while I went to fix a broken electric socket downstairs and when I powered down the whole house (can't be to careful) it went into sleep and when I powered up the house after the repair, in went into SOD.
Oh well, started to let the Gtab run down the battery but realized it would take forever, and, further, I use a USB alot. So, took it apart after I read the instructions and found the magic reset button. Used a clear plastic bag, as recommended, to mark the screw holes and the button. Worked great, and had the hole right above the button with a nice clean little hole in the back panel.
Anyway, now committed to Team DRH and ICS. I'll make it work one way or another. So far, nice. Sometimes a little laggy, but most of the time quick and responsive.
Best part, have my Gtab set up almost identical to my Xoom (Uses Team EOS V1.0) and am having few issues at all.
And, by the way, in regards to Team DRH's April Fools joke, I did a second install when I saw that thinking the install had actually failed. I guess I don't read all the instruction right on the first pass. Same problem I had in school as a kid.
Have Xoom on EOS Wingray and Gtab, now happily running ICS

With the back cover facing up and the bottom edge towards you, I used 6 1/4 in from left and 3 13/16 from top. (Should have used 6 3/16 from left.) 1/8 in reset hole. Used a small piece of rubber to plug the hole. (Last 2 DRH releases, I made me rethink the wisdom of drilling. But I already had the cover off to resolder the power connection.)
But as fosser2 said, do this with the cover off. There is less than 1/8 in clearance. I was using a dremel and didn't have a drill press at the time.

I'm stuck at the birds screen and tried opening and pushing reset, but it didn't change anything, still stuck at birds boot up screen.

Haha June 2016, still found this useful. Thanks, my daughter refuses to give up her g tab, that she paid for with her own money at age 13. Flashing dirty bean, runs not bad at all.

Few days ago, my phone got screwed by water.
I have a Droid Incredible, rooted with the latest CM9 and has TSF Shell on it as the launcher.
Anyways, the LCD Display does not work anymore. I know the digitizer works, because I can unlock my phone. I have memorized a little on my phone. Now, I can turn up and down the speakers, lock it again, answer or decline phone calls, that's a good thing. This morning my LCD display worked but now it does not. There is some kind of backlight however hence the bottom 4 touch buttons still work to get to home, back, menu, and search.
Now this is what I want to do, considering money is tight, and I'm not getting another phone until late next month.
I want to install AirDroid on my phone, and set it up to work with my browsers, whether on my laptop, tablet, or ipod, so I can remotely control and view it.
That's the problem.
Issue one: I have no clue how to install applications DIRECTLY, to the Sd Card itself. I can put the apk on there but with no sights of how to do this, I'm a bit lost. I have however remembered where the install button is when I want to install a third party application.
Issue two: If I can get past Issue one, my second issue is on HOW, I would set it up. I would probably need to install it on my mother phone and track movements, since she has the same phone as I. I'm not sure however how well that would work.
Some extra information, I dropped my phone into a 12 foot pool and had to dive down to get it. It survived, as I put it in dry rice for exactly about 40 hours. Everything was waterlogged. The camera has water trapped inside, the battery compartment dripped and dripped, the display had water literally inside of it, which took the longest to dry out. I took my phone apart thinking it may be a loose connection of some sort but I made sure it wasn't, and it's still not working great.
Sometimes, I can catch the Droid Incredible boot flash for a couple seconds and that's it. There was obvious signs oh screen damage this morning as I was using it and there were a few digital lines horizontally on the screen.
My question is, how would I be able to do this? It's possible I'm sure, I just don't know how it would work.
So, there I was, eating dinner while my phone read me a book.* And suddenly, it stopped. Because my phone crashed. And the amount of a boot cycle it can get through before crashing has been decreasing ever since. A complicating factor: when I still thought it was possibly a software issue, I booted into recovery, and attempted to re-flash the OS (currently it's on 10.2.1). It crashed partway through the process.
On the off chance this was a humidity issue (and not having a lot of time to mess with it) I opened up the phone, removed battery, sim, sd and the small screws in the main body of the phone, and left it in a dry well ventillated place. Now it will get as far as the initial "samsung" splash screen the first time I've reinserted the battery, and won't boot at all beside that. (It's possible that the power button was behaving weirdly, but the phone's behavior was generally so erratic that I can't say that with confidence.) Also, sniffing at the keyboard there is ever so faint a smell of burnt electronics... maybe. Maybe just platicizers. (I've noticed a bit of

I'm pretty happy to take the phone apart, but other than a general decase everything and look for loose connectors or other obvious trouble, I'm not even sure where to begin. (Also, I have about twelve hours to put in an order if I want Amazon to send by a new phone by tomorrow. Which is kind of silly, but this is swiftly and impressively dead. And otherwise it'd be no phone until Tuesday, which wouldn't kill me, but which would annoy me mightily.)
Any thought regarding common problem areas for this phone? I'm hoping to be able to leave the lab early today, which should give me some hours of working time. Well set up for tools, always happy to have things to take apart.
* Text to speech is awesome, once you get used to the robo-voice.
** Really, not a lot - none of the moisure stickers showed anything, and I don't think it got into the main body of the phone.
The de-casing was fun, and yet there isn't an obviously damaged component. It was pronounced dead at 6:20 yesterday evening.

Get a new battery for it....had this issue before and placing new battery in it fixed my bootlooping and not being able to flash or get past samsung screen...the samsung batteries have an overcharge feature which has been known for causing errors such as this...

I will try to keep this as short as possible. If you want less details, tl;dr section at the end. EDIT: i.... didn't quite think this through
My girlfriend has an Xperia Z3 which she bought from a random seller from Germany (am UK residents). Everything about the phone was great, it was brand-new albeit it has been, apparently, been the display device; but other than that it worked perfectly. We even tested out the waterproofness right after setting up the device and charging it up to see if it works. Back then, it did.
Now, this friday (frikkin' Friday the 13th) she had some sort of an art project going on, which she wanted to do underwater. She does have a GoPro for it, but for some sample shots before finishing out, she decided she could just as well use her Xperia. Now, I was sleeping at the moment so I did not get to witness how she did it, but she assures me she closed the flaps extra carefully. However, after she tried submersing it into water, the screen started blinking randomly, as if there is some problem with LCD matrix of some sorts.
We put the Xperia into a bowl of rice and left it that way overnight. After turning the phone back on, the screen showed first "Sony Xperia" logo, then completely went blank. Just a random look-around on the Internet showed me that for extra help it would be best if you take your water-exposed phone and leave it upside-down while it is drying out. I was hopeless, but I didn't want to disappoint her so I said it would work. I was sure it would work since at times, when turning the phone on, some images did work out (like the charging icon when it's turned off and charging) so most probably the phone is not damaged yet, its just still exposed to water.
Next day, after leaving it just standing there upside down, the screen worked as normal, and normal touch functionality returned as well. Not for long however.
My final hurdle is this: When you turn on the phone (after being in vertical upside-down position) and hold it properly (as in, again, vertically, but upright-down) , the touch functions work very well. For a couple of minutes. After that the touch functionality artifacts (faulty touch detection, ultrahigh sensitivity etc) return. It appears that the water is still there somewhere, and as you hold the phone correctly, it goes down back a bit and impairs functionality.
Now, the question is: What can I do to completely remove the water from the device, seeing as keeping it in rice for 2 days did not remove the impairments from internal water exposure entirely?
So far I've tried only rice. Was bad call, but I did not think of anything better and used a bit of hairdryer at the very beginning of the issue, and yes, I now know that it was a stupid idea.
I think I will leave it in one-two more days upside-down in rice and see how it goes from there. Before turning on, I also thought about using the vacuum cleaner method of attempting to suck the water out of it through available holes.
Any other suggestions, tips and ideas? Would seriously want for things to go back to normal, considering now I do not have a phone (gave mine to girlfriend in place of her ill Xperia).

tl;dr exposed Xperia Z3 to water with problems, turns out the damage was reversible and everything works well so far but touch functionality is faulty, still water stuck inside the phone that impairs touch screen, tried drying it by leaving in rice, gonna leave in rice for a day or two more and use vacuum cleaner on the holes right after, anything else that I could do?
