[Q]TWRP not flashing zip - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've TWRP 2.8.7.0 installed on my OPO 64 GB running rooted CS12.0-YNG1TAS2I3. I found the multirom thread "http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-multirom-v26-t2835738" and flashed it on my phone just for fun.Two weeks earlier when I tried installing OnePlus provided AOSP stock "https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/rom-official-4-4-4-oneplus-aosp.65482/" it gave some error about rom built for older build and I forget about it. Recently I wiped my "data" , "system" , "cache" and "dalvik" and tried to installing AOSP zip again but it gave me error saying updater binary error. I tried installinging "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS17L-bacon-signed.zip" and "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed.zip" ,downloaded from official website of course, and got the same error. I went back to multirom thread and installed "MultiROM uninstaller" zip and it worked perfectly fine but when I again tried installinging "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS17L-bacon-signed.zip" and "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed.zip" still the same error. I Google(d) about it and downloaded and flashed "twrp-2.8.0.1-bacon.img" from "https://dl.twrp.me/bacon/twrp-2.8.0.1-bacon.img" using fastboot flash recovery twrp-2.8.0.1.img and tried installing zip from that recovery, same error. Then I repeated process with twrp-2.8.7.0 and still same error. Incidentally I'd good sense of creating backup before erasing all partitions and TWRP had no problem restoring it and for now my phone is up and running. Any ideas why I might be getting those errors?

I also pulled out boot.img from "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2I3-bacon-signed.zip" and flashed it through fastboot, still TWRP giving the same error

Deleted Operating System

Hello,i accidentally deleted my operating system,i tried everything to flash a new one ,every custom roms out there.
The TWRP version is 2.5.0.0
Everytime i execute the ZIP files from TWRP errors appear :
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/BackToBasicsV2.zip'
Error executing updater binary in zip : 'sdcard/BackToBasics'
Could you provide me a working tutorial?I tried every tutorial from here and nothing worked,i don't know what to do anymore.
I had a similar problem in which I accidentally pressed factory reset in bootloader instead of recovery (WHY ARE THEY SO CLOSE?!). Anyway, I ended up having to factory reset from recovery and wipe everything on my phone, then I adb pushed a rom to my phone and it finally let me flash it. Although I recommend waiting until someone else posts something as this is more of a "last resort" lol

Connect your phone to your PC find it in devices and format it... Download twrp 2.3.3 recovery image and install it with fast boot.. Then paste a ROM to your SD card and flash away NP...don't forget the boot.IMG when flashing your new ROM it will have to be flashed with fast boot also..

Can't flash custom zip through any recovery!

Hello everyone,
So here is the story. I accidentally soft-bricked my n5 a few months back, after which I reinstalled stock 4.4.4 firmware via fastboot flash. After flashing the stock packages I reflashed TWRP recovery and tried reverting to a custom OS.
While installing the customer zip file through TWRP I am giving a "status 7 error" even though I've downloaded the packages to match my device(hammerhead). Additionally, I also tried installing CWM and Philz touch, also giving me the status 7 error.
I saw a video online about unzipping the custom OS and deleting parsing lines in order to bypass model number check. So after unzipping, modifying, and rezipping the custom OS for flash, I'm still faced with status 7 error.
Bootloader is unlocked, however when I flashed the stock img files, the bootloader remained unlocked. Where did I go wrong?
Additionally, I can't flash any zips, not even gapps.
Status 7 errors can happen if the recovery is not up to date. Are you running twrp 2.8.7 on the phone?

Messed up storage don't know how to fix it

A while ago I had a ROM running but switched back to OOS due to battery drain. Time passed and I wanted to give it another go and tried installing another ROM, after getting the recommended variant of TWRP running I tried doing the usual, wiping then installing, but as soon as I tried flashing the ROM it kept giving me this log:
Code:
Flashing A/B zip to inactive slot: A
Step 1/2
Error applying update: 26 (ErrorCode :: kDownloadMetadataSignatureMismatch)
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
To flash additional zips, please reboot recovery to switch to the updated slot.
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/<insert filename>.zip'
etc
I thought maybe it was because the ROM had failed to download properly, so I tried a different ROM and downloaded the other one again, but it still gave me the same error. I tried several things like formatting the storage because I saw a youtube video doing that, but although my phone boots normally if I try to download anything it fails. Not sure why this is happening. I still can't flash any ROM.
If partitions have been corrupt
I think you have hetter to flash latest "oos fastboot"
then restart from a "kind new" phone
anyway,
tipically with .zip file, also a .md5 or .md5sum file Is published
if you start checking It, you will not run in this kind of problems

Long shot but did you figure this issue out? Im running into the same issue with my Oneplus 7 Pro

switching slots error when trying to flash havoc - cannot proceed

im trying to flash havoc os and just started the process
i am getting the attached error regarding switching slots.
I have carefully followed all the steps, bootloader is unlocked and TWRP is installed too
please help
Update here when the process fails and I choose reboot from TWRP the phones then boots into a clean install of Andrpid 10 is this normal behavior?
so tried various things like changing the slot from a to b and back
changed how the files were copied and the location too but all failed.
reinstalled TWRP too
tried a different custom rom and got the same error
however when trying to reflash stock Android 10 rom this worked so TWRP works?
This can be closed I found a much older version of twrp on the TWRP site itself and that actually allowed me to to flash the ROM
Sounds like you had a bad download. Like a corrupted zip
Thanks bud but it it didn't matter what zip or what wrong I tried none of them worked in the end I downloaded an old version of TWRP 3. 3.1.0 and that worked 1st time
Please close the thread

updating twrp

i currently have twrp 3.1.1.0 multirom and wish to remove this and install the latest 3.4.0.0 as i am unable to install any roms.
Not sure if bug in the custom twrp but i cannot use it and have already tried wiping and cant get latest lineageos to install.rp
keep getting error 6 error 7. so i think twrp needs updating
I tried putting the .img file onto phone storage and off usb and install via "install image"
however i get
"select partition to flash image:"
Boot
it doesn’t list recovery for some reason so now im stuck with this
I have no images working i have tried getting old os to install but they are unable to work now and have already wiped the phone to make sure its clean install but i keep getting error.

There's no need to put the img file into the internal storage of the phone. Just flash it with fastboot:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Or, if you are rooted, use the official TWRP app, it should be even easier.
