Ok so I bought a soft bricked sgs4g for 50$ I used heimdall to bring it back but I noticed the capacitive buttons are not working although two are lit up the home and search but they do not function outside of being lit up. So I tried reflashing and it is still the same issue, the seller claims no damage from water or dropping. Any ideas on a fix? Anyone have this problem ive searched and I am getting nothing?

Do a search are browse the Q&A forum for a thread regarding soft key buttons. There are some things you can try in that thread. When I get on my computer I will look for the thread and post it.

Seems like there is a Setting to display info on home screen. Maybe that got activated.
I can not see anything that got activated. But thank you so much for the quick response

This looks like factory mode, I looked around and that's the best that I could come up with. Both of these threads state how to remove that using Terminal Emulator:

I tried to root it and I have tried everything but it will not turn on at all. What should I do?
does it vibrate?
No. It won't do anything. I was trying to root it and everything went through fine according to my computer but the phone never turned back on. I tried recovery mode and download mode and it will not do anything.

Sounds like you flashed the k0nane GB kernel over an ICS rom. Search around, many people have done this and posted their issue. In short, you need to pull the battery, go back to download mode and either flash stock through ODIN or flash CWM through odin. If you choose the CWM route, all you need to do then is restore a nandroid or flash whatever rom you like. Or there's stock...:crying:
Well here's the thing. I flashed a file called jw4 using Odin. I think it was for the wrong galaxy s. I cannot get it into download mode or any mode. It will not turn on. I took the battery out I tried all of the tricks I could find online. I have rooted like 10 HTC devices and never had this happen.

HTC ≠ Samsung. Different procedures.

Sounds like a hard brick then. Sorry.:crying:
So there's nothing I can do?
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
You could try some service to repair a hard brick. I haven't ever had one but something like this may work: http://mobiletechvideos.mybigcommerce.com/samsung-galaxy-blaze-4g-jtag-brick-repair/

unfortunately, if you cant get to download mode or get any screen/vibration activity, it's a hard brick and indeed requires a JTAG. its a little cheaper here http://fixmybrick.biz/htc-jtag-c-2/htc-one-s-jtag-repair-service-p-2.html but i cant endorse it because I've never used it... I've only (fortunately) softbricked my phone, though I've had some close calls
Hello everybody. I noticed earlier tonight that my camera flash isn't working on my galaxy s3. I'm currently rooted and running PAC man ROM. I tried flashing back to a stock ROM already and that did nothing for me so I'm not sure where to go from here. Anybody else had this issue? How did you get it fixed?
Sent from my S3 using xda app-developers app
Unfortunately it sounds like it might need warranty replacement if you have it. What happens when you try using torch or a flashlight app. Does the light come on then. Did it accidentally get dropped.
Sent from my GT-P5113 using xda premium
It hasn't been dropped or anything. I get nothing with the torch/flashlight apps either. If I end up doing a warranty replacement I just need to flash back to an official Verizon ROM and stock recovery correct?

Then there might have been some issues when ur device was updated. You updated through OTA? And u sure u didn't play around with your system files?
Sent from my SM-N9100 using XDA Free mobile app
Updated through OTA and everything stock. Was working for about 3 months and then all of a sudden got this issue.
Read somewhere that we need to disable wifi power Saving in service menu. But the thing is this device does not have a dialer to launch the service menu through *#0011#

Boot to recovery and clear the cache partition. It might solve it or backup all your important stuff and do a factory reset.

i think to try fixing permissions in recovery may solve the problems

Bump for a 4 month old thread.
Did you ever resolve this issue and if so, how?
Cheers
I think I have found a solution someone else discovered however Sambung might have fixed this since in an update as my wife's 10.5 is working fine.
I will put it here to help anyone who is still having issues.
I bought a Tab S 8.4 on ebay yesterday for dirt cheap as it claimed to have WIFI issues so I hope this is a legit fix.
You don't need to do a factory reset and fart around with setting it up again. SideSync is the culprit, which is a drag for those of us who bought this tab to pair with our gs5's. But, I think this fixed it. You can't disable it, but you can uninstall the updates to SideSync, which I think is the cause of the problems. I also have the Logitech keyboard that does cause some interference issues, but nothing too bad. After uninstalling updates, I ran wifi speed tests on my home network with the tab after turning off bluetooth (no difference), in and out of the Logi case (</=10% reduction in wifi performance probably due to the case *and* interference). Samsung then hit me with an system update yesterday (did anybody else get one?), and everything seems to be fine. The tab also automatically updated SideSync after the system update, and it still seems to be working... Hope this helps!
