[Completed] (SOLVED!!)How to Pull files from internal memory when phone won't boot?? - XDA Assist

Hi!!
Ok I have a Samsung galaxy s2. My issue is that it won't boot past the Samsung logo. It's been that way for a week! I've tried battery pull, waiting, tried getting into safe-mode(no luck), however, nothing has worked so far. I just want to know how I can get my files from internal memory/storage. I would really like to pull my photos, videos, and possibly my music from there.
I can get into stock recovery, and see my device connected via adb, but I can't go any further to get my files.
Q1: How can I get my phone to pull my internal storage in stock recovery?
Q2: Is it possible to download CWM or TWRP without debug or when the phone won't boot?
I can't get in my phone and all I've been told was that there is nothing I can do and will be forced to factory reset.
p.s. I have nothing backed up via drop box or kies, and everything wasn't saved to my sd card(which is removed from the phone now).
Help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
...........Okay, Problem solved! ALL Thanks to this guys post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/soft-brick-stuck-samsung-screen-how-to-t2206517
Now I'm just trying to work my way back to flashing stock firmware for Virgin Mobile. I am a total noob at this, but I managed to get my files! :victory: :good: :highfive:

[Q] My Nexus S won't boot at all... Help, please

Hi
I'm facing a problem with my Nexus S, before it was working... but, unfourtunatlly i just make some modification in the system file and now my phone not working and stuck at the google logo black screen... exactly, i think the problem in the java runtime.jar file that was in the system folder, i replace it with another file and all that done since i want to add another language to the system so that it can understand it. but, the device now is not working....
I tried to enter the recovery mode and wipe all data, but nothing change. its keep the same. so i tried also to format the system (from the recovery) since, the modification done in that folder... also, its not working....
So, I think the best way right now is to return it to the default rom(official one from google) , i download it, and tried to flash it using the "fastboot" command but it keep give me error when writing for system.img file....
What can I do right know ??? I can't use my device at all...
Help me Guys, please.....
For future reference Factory wipe doesn't touch /system...just /data.
If you formatted your /system, and it actually formatted, all you can do now is restore a working system.
If you didn't make your own nandroid backup of the system (and you ALWAYS should in the future before messing with system level modifications) to have a known working configuration, then your best bet in my opinion is to go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884093
Download the nandroid image from there and flash it to your phone using Clockwork Recovery.
Good luck.

But, The question here is.... how can i flash it when i can't get access to the memory(since the Nexus S doesn't have sd memory slot) and to the system ??
when i enter the recovery, all i can do is use the fastboot command.... can i use it here ??
Thanks alot .....
If you boot into Clockwork, you should be able to use it's mounts menu to mount the sdcard...then use adb to push the files to your sdcard. adb should be active and working in clockwork.
If that doesn't work out for you, you could also try the Odin and "download mode" approach from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=947950

Hello guys
I have the same problem, but i guess for different reasons.
I applyed the superboot from the modaco´s forum on my nexus s, but I guess I did it with the wrong version (i had got the 2.3.4 ota before doing so and used a 2.3.3 version) and now my phone won´t boot. My rom was stock. Now, it remains on that google initial screen. I can´t get to upload anything for the device since I guess the usb debug mode is off, although when I connect the device to the computer, the system shows the usb driver. I guess my device is GT90 something, can´t say for sure. Have to check at the box.
That said, I´d like some help on what to do about it.
I´ll be forever grateful!

The thing is that i already have clockworkmode installed and i can access it through bootload, in fact is the only thing i can do. My problem is that i just can´t send the recovery.img from the pc to the phone. And I also think that the usb debug mode is unavailabe, so I can´t activate it.
I´m new to this thing so the only way I could move files into the phone was through windows explorer drag and drop. Honestly I´m lost without it.
Is there a different way to push it to the phone ?
I understand this forum is intended to more experienced users, and for that I apologise.
Guys I found a solution by enabling USB from clockwork! Thanks! Keep the good work!

Hello "ectole", could you let me know how you get out of it. I am in the same problem. I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13800735#post13800735 to root my phone, now I always boot into clockwork. I can I boot into Nexux again?
Hi guys,
I'm in a similar situation. I tried to install CyanogenMod 7 to my Nexus S (ATT), got stuck at the skating dude.
Booted back into Clockwork, and tried to flash back to the stock firmware, but I think I accidentally flashed the wrong one (for the 9020T instead of 9020A) build. Now I can't get into ClockworkMod or anything on the screen whatsoever.
Does anyone have any tips at all? I'm really screwed here, would appreciate it a lot...

Hey bante just go to clockwork then to mount/dismount menu and the last option should be mount USB storage. Mount it and stay there and your PC should see the sd card. Then upload what you want.

HELP!!! Odin bricked my Nexus S i9020a
I attempted to use odin to restore my phone. Could not get past bootloading screen. Put phone in recovery mode and used odin and grh78 firmware.
Odin went thru the whole process and said success, then my phone shut off, and will not power back on. Any ideas?

[Q] Blue logo screen on g2x PLEASE HELP

This is my first thread that i ever needed to start on anything on phones so please understand that i'm REALLY DESPERATE i have looked in a ton of places for this fix and i tried to use clockworkmod and ended up doing that correctly but when i tried to restore it it say i dont have any backups nor recovery files and i tried putting cynagenmod on my sd card but it couldnt find the file and then i tried to use NFFLASH and make it stock android again but nothing happened and ended up stuck on the blue logo screen again. please i dont know what to do
Which version of Cyanogenmod is it? Put it on the root of your SD card. Is it already on the internal storage? I believe when you click "install from .zip" or something of the equivalent there's an option to select "choose from internal storage".
You can boot back into clockwork mod by turning the phone off, holding down the power and volume down buttons until the lg logo with the BLUE background appears, then release.
I was trying to install cynagen mod 7.01 from Rom manager but it froze in the logo screen and so i took out the battery and put it back on and it still continued to do that. After that i used CWM but i didnt have any ROMS to restore it and before it didnt correctly make my backup so i just want to restore it like the way it used to but i dont know where to put it in my sd card

Your sentence is incredibly long. Gave up after the desperate grab for attention. You may have wiped your backups by mistake. It happens. I did it not once, but twice. Give us more info so we can help. ROM, kernel, etc. A list of apps you run on a daily basis would be helpful.

Never use rom manager to install on this phone, you'll continue to run into this problem.
Can you access your phone storage when it's plugged into your computer? If you can, drop CM onto it at the root directory, put it back into your phone, boot into CWM and install the zip.
i think my rom was stock rom 2.3.4 before i tried flashing cynagenmod the apps arent very important to me and i only had this phone for a week because i got too excited about the dual core.
Follow the instructions HERE to the letter. You'll go back to stock and you'll have to root your phone again (if that's what you want to do) but it should get you up and running again.
In future, search, search, and search some more. I assure you, most problems people have had have been discussed and probably solved on these forums.
Welcome to XDA!
What is the name for this process of trying to restore my device from blue logo screen? If i know the name of the issue im trying to fix maybe i can start searching for the guides. I can't really access my internal or sd card when i plug in my usb and i don't really understand what the problem i ran into if its even fixable or not. The link you've sent me for the guide i'm trying right now but i can't just sit here and wait for an hour. Feedback is really appreciated

The whole process (if done correctly) should take but about 15 minutes give or take. What you'll be doing is Flashing Stock Recovery. Download the file provided in the link I gave, and then follow each instruction exactly as it says. Shouldn't be a need to Google any guides as this spell it out for you. Just have read and execute.
If you used NvFlash/One Click Recovery to flash Clockwork Mod to your device then you should already have the APX driver installed on your computer. In that case, half of the battle is already done.
But, if you installed your recovery using Rom Manager, then I would download the APX driver and go through the whole process in the guide I've linked from start to finish.

[q] heeeellllp!!!!!

Heeeeelllp! I was trying to get touchwiz 4.0 on my Samsung Galaxy S WIFI 5.0 running android 2.2.2 when it wouldn't let me move the apk to the system/apps folder. So i made a stupid mistake and moved the apps folder out of the system folder and into its parent folder what ever that folder is. While it was moving it started coming up with force close messages tell me that so and so had forced closed and it was just constantly repeating the force close vibration pattern. Then while it was still moving the screen went black (but still on) yet the force close vibration kept going. So i rebooted and the pattern was still going even when the boot animation was there and when the boot animations has finished i just displays a black screen but yet again there is still the force close vibration happening. It boots into recovery ok and i am rooted. No CMW or custom rom though. I was using a root browser, dont no wich one. Can you help me get my data back or even my galaxy working with my data. thanks
Now that's a realy nice title you picked there for your opened thread.
I ques a lot of people will understand your problem with that title.
Edit; maybe I'm being a bit of an ass like this sorry but I realy don't understand why people opening threads with a title like you use.
If everyone would start a thread with the title heeeelppppp imagine how far we would come.
Anyway, you write you are still able to come in recovery mode and that you placed the apps out of the system folder into another folder whatever that would be..
Can't you reverse it by digging into your folders, find the apps folder and place it back in sys?
I think that's the most easiest and only step to get your data back.
But how do you do that through the recovery? I'm only using samsung's standard.
Is it possible to connect your device to pc and brows on it using explorer on pc?
If that's possible you could cut an past the map back to the system folder?

Ok, iv'e now tried a factory reset and its still not working.
I'm going to try and flash an ICS ROM

Sorry but I do not understand what you are trying to explain.
If your pc recognizes the device put it in storage mode if possible.

Just flash a stock rom...your phone should work then...
And remember for thr future, before doing changes with root permissions, take a backup of your data...
And don't create a thread like this in the development section...unless you want to trolled/flamed/get infracted...
Typed using a small touchscreen
My PC would only reconize it in recovery or download meaning I couldn't put it in to storage mode. Doesn't mater anyway now I'm trying to flash a new ics rom. Bit I don't know if you can flash any Rom with odin or not and if it needs a new kernel. Do you need USB debugging to install a Rom or kernel? Im new to all this you see.
You see I don't think the factory reset did anything.
OK, I'l flash a new stock rom and see if that works.
A) put phone down. Wait. Put it in a box . Then bury it.
B) read for a week. All about your phone specs, what adb is, what the difference between CWM (clockwork mod recovery) and rom manager is, how to flash partitions with Odin and heimdall, and any other info u can get your hands on.
C) after said time is up. Dig up your phone and fix it up .

Can't Mount SD Card

I was running CM10 on a rooted TFT101. I was having some WiFI connectivity issues so I decided I would try out a new rom. I used Titamium Backup and backed up all my needed files to my Mico SD card. Once backed up, I rebooted into CWM v6.0.1.3. I went to do a factory reset prior to flashing the new rom. The tablet just froze. I rebooted the tablet back into CWM. I tried to again do a factory reset and again the tablet just froze. I tried to boot back into CM10 and I just sits and spins and never actually boots into the OS. I decided that I would just go ahead and just flash the new rom and do a factory reset after the fact. I placed the new rom on the micro sd card and booted back into CWM. I attempted to install zip from SD card and now I get e:can't mount /sdcard/. I have tried 3 different micro sd cards and nothing. I have formatted each to fat32 and not one of them is recognized. All 3 are recognized by windows.
Since I can't boot into the OS...and I can't load a new rom....I am dead in the water. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
If you can get it to that endless boot logo and connect it through USB, ADB (info - download) should be able to access whatever's left on your device assuming it gets far enough in the boot process. If it does, you can adb pull the backups to your computer to save them.
That being said, Easy Flasher will help you get back to 100% unrooted stock and "unbrick" your device with a few clicks. Then you can start over with a new recovery and rom. But it will wipe your entire device clean, hence why I suggest you first check if you still have backups and if you do, pull them on your computer using adb.
I can't help with the CWM problem, I haven't used it in a long time.

Thank you Lethe6. I saw that option and wondered if that might help me. I will try it out today.
One quick question. If I flash back to stock I am guessing I will just need to reroot once I am able to boot it back up?
Thank you again for your assistance.
Yes exactly. Easy Flasher has a root option as well so it's fairly easy to get going with customizations after restoring to stock!

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S4 mini I9192 , soft bricked.

Hello , looking for help to unbrick a partially bricked phone that allows me to turn on and use mostly everything , it seems to reboot itself every once in awhile. I can goto Kies and and try to repair but that doesn't work , also have odin with factory file and that shows Fail every time i try that. Hoping someone can help try to get back to factory settings.
Oh and i have read for 2 days here downloaded files and tried everything i can , but nothing seems to work. And when i restart phone it seems to go back to exactly where i left when it got bad root file or something. In the phone part even after i erase calls , it shows the people that called that day every time it gets restarted.
If anyone can help and walk me through , i'd be greatly appreciated. And i've watched i don't know how many youtube vid's on trying to get this back to factory mode.

I've tried mutiple times and always comes up FAILED.
Tried Kies option also....
Apparantly its stuck in Titanium backup mode and occasionally does a reboot on its own sometimes. But even if i try to reboot after erasing tons of stuff out of it.... it comes back to what it was or how it was. So basically the titanium even though it shows up nowhere in my apps or phone... it keeps reverting my phone back to where it was when it got messed up.....
Try this

I don't know if the fail you get in Odin may be caused by having the wrong settings. I have ran into a few tutorials online that use odin, each one had a specific way. Try running it again with all the options unchecked except for the Auto Reboot. Also make sure you place the correct file(s) in the correct slot. example: any bootloader file goes into the bootloader slot, etc. make sure its checked. Then run again, this may be the only reason your getting a fail, it may have nothing to do with Odin or your phone.
Of course disregard this message if you had already fixed you problem. Also another possible fix would be to use ADB command to push the files to your phone, I suggest looking into it, there is a good amount of info on it online. It could help down the line with future issues to know ADB. Here is a website I found helpful, it is a guide to using ADB sideload to save bricked devices. ------- (android-revolution-
hd.blogspot.com/2013/12/ow-to-use-adb-sideload.html) note: just copy everything after the dashes and in between the parenthesis and paste into url bar on browser. sorry i have to be difficult, first time posting on this site and they wont let me post in a link, but this guide may be the answer to all your phone trouble. Plus I know how you feel, I just bricked my phone too and I know how agravating it is when nothing works.
