I've had my S3 for a couple of weeks now, and while I've decided to abstain from the ROM merry go round for the time being, I have a list of things I'd like to see:
1. Changeable mouse pointer. It's too small and I can't really see it very well.
2. I don't see a way to select the back/menu/home buttons with my Bluetooth mouse.
3. I have the MHL adapter and need to be able to change the overscan in landscape mode. Also audio won't come out of the HDMI interface.
Otherwise it's an amazing device. This is a pretty short list, maybe I'll come up with more later. So far so good.
Pet Peeve 1 can be fixed by going on the "ROM merry go round"
1.) group sms in the stock messaging app does not properlywork
2.) Vibration cant be customized for notifications wit the built in program that lets you change vibration patterns

Yeah, that's what I was wondering. If I can find enough reasons to make me want to switch.
No "Stay awake while charging"
Unlocked Verizon GS3
For me, No Google Wallet...
Things I have issues with currently:
Wifi is off, would you like to turn it on? or there are wireless networks available notifications. I have them disabled when opening a high data app with mobile data enabled, they still popup and are super annoying. There is a hack I need to try for this.
The MTP mount for media transfer to your SD card. It requires special drivers and makes it difficult to transport many files at once to or from and does not allow it to mount UMS (universal mass storage) which previously was the standard to work with car radios, dvd players, etc. I have a hack in place using a script now that allows me to mount UMS for my external SDCard, but is still an annoyance.
If you use a 32GB or greater sdcard, it has to be formatted by the phone or in windows to extfat32, which is an enhanced version of the FAT32 file system allowing for greater than 4GB files and a less heavy table of contents using more processing. This would be great except its Microsoft proprietary and because Samsung doesn't have the full specs on it, it loses and corrupts files on the card quickly when you start using it. Also, ROMS cannot support it, it was designed by MS to be hazardous to open source and GNU licensing. There are tools you can download to format FAT32, which I have had to do.
S Voice, it kind of blows. I miss my quick button press to open google voice command which is roughly 5x better, now S Voice is opened when I double tap home and I have to unlock my phone and go to the google widget and hit the mic to call on google voice which lowers the convenience of voice commands drastically.
The Samsung internet browser is lacking. It does not resize text to fit the screen on double tap properly and makes it more difficult despite the large screen. It keeps webpages loaded in memory even after reboot unless you close them in the window manager which you have to scroll to the top of the page and click a button instead of being in the menu button menu. It opens a new window often when I click on links....
The modem and radios are weak and unstable at times. I am constantly dropping my data connection in known good areas and with wifi. To top it off, I get the wifi notification AGAIN to connect to a network when that happens.
It has an overactive screen auto brightness which makes pics I view look like crap when they are actually not too bad if the screen wasn't on minimum brightness.
Settings are not in great order. There are three different settings and areas portraying just to haptic feedback. Did you enable it under sounds? What about disabling it being disabled again by default every time power saving mode is enabled? Did you change the vibration power from zero? Um....
Samsung has way too many unnecessary notifications of its own cluttering the notification screen. I get four from just plugging in headphones. Wireless notification is always there by default.
Boot time can be much faster, its actually internally boot looping in order to check authenticity of system files to void warranty claims if custom. The new unlocked boot loader boots in at least half the time, maybe less. Don't like the 4G LTE boot logo or loud unnecessary noise on boot either.
Verizon is dumbing down the search in the next OTA update and all phones from mid-July already are updated because of the apple patent lawsuit that disallows searching of local content on a mobile device on devices not running iOS!? I know I'm not taking that update.
Thank you thank you thank you for the unlocked bootloader leak now.
Things I like:
This list would be long, but I'm just going to say it is an amazing device for media consumption with its screen and features, battery life is impressive, the cameras are great, its fairly smooth and fast in navigation, and it just looks great now that I've got a case on it. Makes iPhones look fat and stubby. I have been having a blast with NFC tags, put one on my chest freezer to automatically open up the drink up page on untappd for checkins when I grab a beer. Soon I'll be making a few pages online that I can edit so that I can program NFC tags with the links and remotely manage the content they bring up.

I have Extended Controls installed. It has a stay awake while charging toggle. My S3 actually stayed on while charging. I had to use the toggle to turn it OFF.

I switched to the Chrome browser which is a lot better than the stock one. I like that I can sync pages from my desktops.
It doesn't have reception as well as a Motorola would/did. Not sure if these upcoming updates will make reception better but I get weak reception in places my DX never had a problem with. Probably jump on a RAZR around tax time if nothing improves by then... Only issue

I use another app called "Stay Awake." It's nothing more than a 1x1 widget. Although, every time I reboot my phone, I need to toggle the widget again. The setting doesn't stick on a reboot.

Although, Chrome doesn't reflow text to fit zoom in/out of a page. Neither does the stock browser, as mentioned previously.
Opera mobile browser is my new default on the Galaxy S III and has been quite fast, reflows zoomed text wonderfully and Opera Link provides a synch with desktop Opera.

Has my S3 for 3 days now.
By Droid Bionic never left 4g (after the leaked ice cream update). S3 4g coverage is spotty and not as strong when I do have it.
I miss my bionic's "Full brightness when viewing pictures" option also.

Turn off requires root privileges. We plan to add them both, but for now no power off is not an available action

I would like to use the triggers
- disconnect from specific wifi network
and
- leave location (fence)
Now you can only trigger on a network or a location (I'm guessing on connecting or entering, it's not really clear in the software)
I'm assuming they'll be added in the near future?

Remove Ads?
Just installed the app, I'd heard about it yesterday and just didn't get around to installing it. Like the look and everything so far. Question: I hate ads, is there a plan to do a Pro version or within the app pay to remove the ads on the bottom?
I've got no issues with paying for a good app and I think this is definitely a good app, but ads drive me crazy and I'll just uninstall any app rather than use it that doesn't give me an option to get rid of them.
Thanks in advance for any reply! Great work otherwise!

We are going to add an in app purchase to remove the ads in the near future. We wanted to provide the app for free yet cover some little costs like github hosting and developer accounts. I know they can be an eye sore at the bottom, but ideally you only need to see them once or twice. After we are set up you shouldn't need to come back into the app for much.

Great app with good User freindly UI unlike Tasker which is too confusing.
Just 2 issues,
1-Why there is no Ringer Volume option in Action ? it seem it is basic thing one would like to do lower the volume of ringer at home and higher outside. I see all other volume option except Ringer.
2- I want to set a location base Triger but the map never load i only get the white page,i see GPS icon kick in my status bar for 2 sec and then disappear but no map loaded,. When I open Google map app it is working perfectly. any idea what is the issue ?

Do you have network connectivity? I'm not sure why it wouldn't show the map. Unless it was not connected to the internet or the apk was signed with a different cert.

Did you save the Location Trigger? Is there one listed in the Profile'sTrigger list? Is your GPS enabled? How about WiFi and Cell Location? If your device can not get a lock on your location there is no way for it to fire. Once a Location Trigger is saved we should handle the rest.
I see the current thread about the recent update. But that thread is more about how to upgrade without losing root. Don't get me wrong, I'm interested of that is possible.
But I thought I'd start a thread about people's impressions of Lollipop on the S5. Pros and cons. Thanks for your input.

Can those with the update possibly comment with which specific features are present and which are missing? I have heard rumors, seen "change logs", and seen some random posts here or there, but think it would be useful to the community to get a confirmed list of what is included and not included. If people can post in this thread of what they find or do not find, I can compile them into a simple list in this post. Thanks in advance!

Ok guy's am I screwed since I took the Ota without preserving root?
I got the update yesterday, and so far so good. Battery life seems a tiny bit worse, but that may be because I've been putzing with the phone more. Will continue to monitor the battery life.
The Fingerprint lock screen is much better, and the fingerprint sensor seems to be more accurate, if that is possible.
With the new fingerprint screen, when I unlock, I get a short vibration (haptic feedback?- I am usually in vibrate mode). The phone did not do this before. Also, I get a vibration when I put it on the wireless charger. Again, this did not happen before. I can't figure out how to stop it, as I would prefer not to have these vibrations occur.
Other than some visual differences, these are the only issues I've come up with to date. If I could figure out how to eliminate the vibration when I unlock the phone or put it on the charger that would be great.
Anyone experiencing the GPS turning on every time you unlock the phone? for a second or so.

+1 for the Trusted Devices, I am also using it right now with my Gear Live.
Turn it on at Settings -> Security -> Trust Agents -> Smart Lock; then back up one level and a new Smart Lock option will be available which allows you to add Trusted Devices and Trusted Places. It may not show up if a secure lock screen is not enabled.
So I got Lollipop now....and there is definitely one thing that is absolutely horrible! This is also confirmed to be wide-spread (not just S5).
Now, When you put your phone to silent/mute, you will NOT GET LED light NOTIFICATIONS. Period.
Only way to get LED light notifications is while phone is in Sound/Vibrate mode. This is severely sad and many people are expressing their opinions about this across all Lollipop devices. Using some 3rd Party App (LightFlow) as a workaround is not a real solution either.

You guys think that any devs/ROM creators will be able to add features like the new google notification panels and stuff and get rid of the TW stuff? Nitro has already created an older AOSP ROM that is brilliant so I'm curious if devs will try to emulate a ROM based off of the newest 5.0 Google

Just bought the grey one from bhphoto no tax to CA, there is no problem on the finger print sensor on the grey one even when the screen is ON that people are complaining about, but I wanted to know what app or any other way to close all the app when you press the square button on the lower left side beside the home, other than that I am digging the phone coming from an iPhone 6s+, the "OK google " works amazing now I don't need to type anything when using Google Map.

Sent from my PURE XL using Tapatalk
Beware on the "Remove All" button in the latest OTA update: It does more than what we ask for! It actually kills the background processes, so that WhatsApp notification and alarm apps no longer work in the background.
Just wondering, does the shake to close all apps still work, or has that been removed now that the button is there?
Also, did the shake to close all apps close background processes as well before?
Is there any way to prevent it from killing the background apps? I wish it didn't do that.
Hey these are just a few things that i have found that are not completely broken but annoying enough to talk about.
First one is on some apps I am getting double notifications. Not that there are 2 of the same notifications in the tray but i get 2 sound alerts and too vibrate alerts. Not every app is doing this though which leads me to believe it may be an app optimization issue. This also get translated to android wear btw.
Second is voice dictation in the Stock google keyboard. Sometimes it will fail and other times it will be fine. random issue so no really way to lock down the cause.
Third is camera sluggishness all around. Double tapping the power button is slower than it has been and in the app changing modes or viewing pictures is also a slight issue.
Anyone else have these issues?

By the way, to sign up for beta, just go to Playstore, GBoard, scroll down, and tap the button.
I'm on Gboard beta and it works better. I have had no camera sluggishness and I flashed from O DP4. I've never had that double notification issue, what apps give you double notifications??

Twitter, Tapatalk and a few others. It is a strange thing but maybe I will wait until the September OTA to see what happens

First one is on some apps I am getting double notifications. Not that there are 2 of the same notifications in the tray but i get 2 sound alerts and too vibrate alerts. Not every app is doing this though which leads me to believe it may be an app optimization issue. This also get translated to android wear btw.

Have you tried 1) deleting cache, 2) toggling notification on/off in app, 3) clearing app data, and/or 4) uninstalling/reinstalling app? I would try these things in the stated order and observe the app behavior each time. Let us know how things turn out. Thanks.

I'm seeing the same on my Px and Px XL. Twitter and Slack. Clearly, the issue is app-specific. I tried all of the above but no joy. I have noticed that if the phone is not asleep, then there is no double sound. This may support your theory of app optimization. I will next try uninstalling/reinstalling the app to see if it makes a difference.
Hmm I may check this myself about the sleep issue

I am having the same double notification issues as well. Same apps, Twitter particularly. I also used the OTA directly from the August 7.1.2. In addition my battery drain has been ridiculous today. I attempted to clear cache for all apps only to find that Google has removed that control from both the OS settings as well as via stock Recovery. That's right, you can no longer format the /cache partition. I wish they'd at least moved it into Developer options instead of removing it entirely.
I've manually cleared Google Play services data and cache for several apps showing high battery usage in the new battery settings. I've also limited background usage for apps like Facebook, Snapchat, etc.
I've uninstalled/reinstalled Twitter with the hope that the app will register under O [perhaps properly] and resolve the issue. No joy. I would seem that the app devs for Twitter, Slack, Tapatalk, etc. will need to fix the code to work under O. I recently saw another app updated with "Fixed Android O notifications" in the change log.
Relatedly, I have a custom ringtone set with Twitter, but the double tone I hear is the phone's default tone. I have not been able to get the custom-selected tone to play. Something else for Twitter to fix.

For wiping cache, if you are rooted or bootloader unlocked, you can use Flashfire or boot to TWRP.
My battery life on O (observed on two Pixels) is definitely not as good as N.
Weird. Battery life for me is incredibly better. I mean like.. Is there a reporting problem? How can this be so much better? Only one day in but I'm liking what I see.

For the double notification sound, my workaround is to use Lightflow. I already had it for other purposes, so I set the native app [e.g., Twitter] for no sound and set LF to make the sound. All is good.

What do you mean by "reporting problem"?

I meant is the battery indicator reporting it wrong. I was being facetious but I have not noticed any unusual battery drain. On N when I used Strava and gps for 3 hours or so I'd end up with about 55% left and then plug in for a quick charge. On O I wound up with 67% left which was pretty good. After a few days I think there are some things that are better but overall about the same as N.
I've had it today where the screen on time in the battery stats is stuck. So it's been reading 1hr 15min screen on time regardless of how much I use it... Something is a bit off with battery reporting it seems
Regarding the double sound, this is what I have discovered:
1) Go to Twitter app and set the notification for no sound
2) Go to settings/apps/Twitter, select notifications. You will see a bunch of granular notification settings. Once I made the desired setting there, no more double sounds and the tone is what I desired.

Well, I never do ota's, always clean flash, it avoids future problems, up and running in 10 - 15 minutes, easy as pie.

If you do not mind sharing, how you restore all your apps data and phone settings in 10-15 mins?
I have had several issues with the final O release. I updated OTA straight from beta and even factory reset without restoring data and apps.
Definitely having the Gboard microphone issue.
Was also having a lot of wifi connectivity issues. The phone would randomly not connect to several wifi networks and started dropping wifi once connected alot.
Battery life is also atrocious especially when navigating. I used maps for 20 minutes with the screen off and had nearly a 20% drain.
I contacted project fi and received a replacement device which I'm going to keep at 7.1.2 for the time being.
Incidentally the beta worked perfectly nearly for months. All this started after the final OTA to the production release.
