Anyone read about the new root method for all G4s?
I can't link it for some reason but it is in the non carrier G4 section
Yup. Already rooted and debloated.

Or you could not be lazy and go look in the main forums for it.

See this:
[ROOT] TMO/VZW/ATT/SPRINT/INTL Root your LG G4 with Low Effort Root!
Yeah, works like a charm.
Has anyone tried this on a H810 10B VERSION?
How did you do the debloat? I tried manually going through and nuking various things with Titanium Backup and have managed to get into a spot where I randomly get errors like existing apps are missing dependencies. I should have stopped at nuking all ATT stuff and having most of the LG stuff not being loaded but not removing them completely. .
Anyone know where I can find all the LG Apps or a way to pull them back down without going back to a stock image then rerooting?

I see that you had success with your root on the AT&T variant. I'm using to rooting Samsung phones, so this is definitely different.
Did you encounter any weirdness by just following the original post instructions? Any tips you can pass along before I take the plunge?
Thanks!
I found it very easy but I'm also familiar with low level tools.
If you follow the guide exactly, it should be easy. Just be careful with what you "clean" afterward or you'll end up like me with some weird issues.

Don't do it, it'll brick the phone. They only have a rooted image up for the H81010g.
Follow their directions for making a system image file of your phone.
There are directions somewhere on how to root your image file so look around if you feel comfortable with that.
You can also upload your 10b image to Mega or Androidfilehosts for others to use.

Block or freeze first! There may be some files you need uploaded on Androidfilehosts.com.
If you post a list of files you need in a new thread here, someone will help you. My phone is bricked, so I can't help today.
What do you freeze to stop the automatic over the air updates?
I removed most of what on the list in the "debloater" link to stop updates. Only drawback is I think I destoryed my MMS because I removed some thing I shouldn't have.

Check my Debloat thread, I think someone mentioned which file nuked MMS for them, but on another carrier. You can also try another MMS app. I don't like the stock one.
I also got carried away and deleted some necessary apps. I did a factory reset and went through the root process again and it restored the deleted apps and now all is well.
I didn't freeze the apps, I removed them completely. I need to return to stock to resolve it more than likely hah
Did you do the basic factory reset on the phone? If that's all you did, I might do the same .

I couldn't get past the startup screen once I reset because of the blocks. LGstartup keeps crashing making it so I can't get past it. Stock it is. And now the damn stock restore keeps failing too.

I rooted my phone and downloaded root explorer to be able to delete some of the sony crap that came with my phone. Unfortunantly I believe that I deleted my camera roll files. I have no idea what the file name is or how to get it back. Also I was thinking, is there possibly something else I could download in replace of it as some sort of patch?
Any ideas would be great. Thank you.

Hi,
Be just as easy re flashing your phone and re-rooting.
Next time watch what you delete too.
This does sound like a good idea....

Other than re rooting and back up and restore and all that I would have to do.
After spending over 15 hours to figure out how to root my phone and put 2.1 on it I am a little hesitant to do it again. Although most of it was trial and error, id rather just patch it up if I could.
ideas for this method?

Hi Again,
personally no point trying to re-install your camera if you do not know what you have deleted, follow these steps -
re-flash your phone using sony update.
root your phone again use this- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906248
Then install your custom rom if you are doing so.
Just to add download titanium backup from the market and also install xrecovery the link is here, once xrecovery is working and you have your phone working how you want use xrecovery to back up your phone then any future problems you will just have restore using xrecovery again-good luck.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
Please always have a backup it will save you endless hours of frustration.
All system apps can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826849
The Camera Roll depends upon MediaScape being installed. So if you deleted that crap, then the Camera Roll won't work.
So I'm running completely stock, never rooted Android 5.0 on my Nexus 5. I got the 5.0.1 update today and when I go to install, it gives me the dead android pic with "error". Anybody else having the same issue? Also, would me enabling developer options have anything to do with it?
P.S. Already cleared my cache partition and it's still giving me the error.

Except, like I said, I didn't. I did not root or unlock the bootloader or play around with the phone at all, strictly for this reason. I didn't want to go through the struggle of factory resetting my device every now and then. The closest thing to "modifying" the phone was me unlocking developer settings and I was asking if that could have something to do with it.
Every other thread on the forums has to do with people rooting so no, it's not like one of the millions of other threads.
Describe more.
The best way to update is by flashing the factory image in fastboot, i don`t trust/hate OTA`s personaly
I updated from kitkat to Lollipop with no issues from the OTA update. That was really recent and I haven't changed anything having to do with the system since then. Yet the 5.0.1 update is giving me the error message.
I'm trying to avoid doing a factory reset as that was the main reason that I've kept the phone completely stock. I figured not rooting the phone would let me update in peace and, since it's a nexus, it's been enough to handle my needs without any customization.

Just double checked and nope, bootloader is locked. Yeah :/ I was trying to see if it's an issue with anybody else on completely stock devices. So far mine is a no go, even though the 5.0 update worked flawlessly. Why would the 5.0 update go through, yet the 5.0.1 believes the system has been modified..?

Well, there's a way to get the ota but it is going to be tedious. It involves rooting with towelroot, then using bootunlocker from the play store. That'll allow you to unlock the bootloader without wiping your device. Then you'll need to flash the system, boot, and recovery image with fastboot from the 5.0 factory image. Then do the ota.

Should be any minute now.
Thanks! I may just wait until the next update and see if there's a chance it'll work. Or I may just have to do a fresh new install which I am not looking forward to at all Lol. But thank you for your help!
Uhhhh, ok. So I'm not exactly sure what happened. I figured I'd give the OTA another try because why not...and it worked I noticed it downloaded a bigger file too, 30ish mb as opposed to the 13mb OTA that would give me an error. Not sure if I got sent a wrong update file or what, but if your issue comes close to what I experienced, just keep trying the OTA update. I'm also on T-Mobile (phone bought directly from T-Mobile) in case that makes any difference.
im new here so... im not sure if this is the right place to post. i have a lg stylo i have been trying to root for 3 days now and nothing. super user shows up and asks for a binary update but will not do it. root checker shows no root same with flashify. i have done factory resets and the one with the vol down key and power button. no luck super user shows up no matter what but no root no matter what method i try, the one listed here (one click?) and another like it where you add stuff manualy. i havent had any luck can someone help please. as a side note i dont know if its related to rooting my phone or a secondary issue but my rear facing camera refuse to work now. just shows black for a second then back to home screen. im on 5.1.1. thank you for reading

Most likely something else. The kdz writes all of the software and firmware back to the device just like it was brand new. This should resolve any software issues when completed successfully, which it obviously was...

Woudl anyone kindly give me a copy of your nandroid backup please? I have a corrupted file system. My /system/app and my /system/priv-app have both been combined together in /data/data. There are some other unique changes too. I don't even know how the phone can operate like this, but it works flawlessly. Unfortunately, I have been hacked and nothing works to get rid of it. If anyone has good adb command skills and can guide me, I'd be happy with that. My adb commands are not extended, and not of them work thus far. I want my phone back in good shape. As of now, there is a bootloader script that erases any changes upon boot.. I need help here. I keep asking, and I see dozens of you reading... but not one reply. Help would be nice. Lol

If it was that simple I wouldn't be here asking for help. I've been flashing for 4 years. Hundreds of times. More than 20 devices. There is a modified bootloader that wipes any updates and keeps the script alive. It takes over my whole OS. I know because I have two Note 5's. One I just got from my friend. It has never been rooted. So when I compare the two, I see lots of major differences. Some of my settings are completely gone. Like the ability to use fingerprints to open websites and verify Samsung account. Then, on the unrooted phone, when I swipe left to briefing, it says "Briefing" wants permission. On my previously rooted, but currently unrooted phone, it says "Touchwiz Home" wants permission. On top of that, I'm not getting the prompts for permissions when I open a app. They are already granted. when I first flash BPC3 and immediately flash TWRP I can see my system files in place. When I boot and look again form ROM Toolbox, the /system folder is empty and I found everything loaded in /data/data. I see several locations with recovery scripts, and one with a fstab.storage in the cache folder. If I delete the cache, the phone will not boot. If I take any of the /data/data apps out, the phone will not boot. I have successfully got it to boot one time and everything seemed fine. However, over the course of a day, little by little, everything reinstalls itself. I'm assuming from a masked backup location. This is a real hack job, and I need some help. I'm not a complete idiot, however, this kind of thing is WAAAAAY over my head. I could start snapping screenshots and posting them here if any of you want to learn more about this and help me get it fixed. I can't use this phone like this. Somebody has complete control of my device.

Help me bro. This isn't something normal. Please. I'll provide you with whatever information you need. Read the above post.
Oh yeah, one other thing. When I use ODIN I am getting a message that says... "receiving message from bootloader. Please wait two minutes." Then it go the next file and says the same thing, On the third file it fails.
Okay, so I found some logs in the dropbox folder and found a bunch of code linked to a GitHub account owned by this guy. http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=1897326 I'm not saying that he is responsible, but I am saying that someone is using his code maliciously. I have it on my phone, I have system logs to verify it, and I have tons of problems with all my accounts being hacked. My phone will not reinitialize on Smart Switch. Nothing works. Sombebody please help me update my bootloader. I don't know how to do this myself and I can not find any information anywhere. Flashing a new sboot.tar with ODIN does not work. Upon reboot, it gets erased and the same old crap comes back.

I'm still working on it. This has some incredibly complicated scripts designed to stop any fixes. I haven't figured it out yet. I have been working non-stop for a week now. I think I'm close to figuring it out, but I'm not as good or even close to his skill set. A lot of this stuff is like looking at Chinese. I'm working on a new initramfs to get everything in order again. I hope to be finished soon. I'll post a detailed fix when I am finished. I'm not going anywhere, I'm here to help others as much as possible. I'll be posting a fix soon.

If I could use a .tar or a zip file to fix my phone, I wouldn't be here asking for a nandroid. Rooting my second Note 5 would be stupid because I see the same app data already infected on this one. Once I fix my 64GB Note 5 I'm going to sell this 32GB . Nobody buys a rooted phone. I own a cell phone repair shop. I know they won't buy rooted phones unless they are stupid. They always come back complaining about Samsung pay or something security wise that alerted them to the fact that is has been rooted. I'm seeing some of the same **** on my unrooted phone that I see on my rooted phone. It is the app-data, but at least with this phone, I can factory reset and get rid of it and start over. I 'm going to send emails to Google and ask them to clear my stored app-data on every app that is on my account. I can't keep this **** off my phone. This mother***ker wrecked my device. I have removed two of the 6 extra partitions, and now it won't boot. Even if I flash a new .tar with a pit file and nand erase. This is my first phone is four years of flashing and modding that I have not been able to fix. I am not getting any help. Just dumb questions like this one over and over. Lol IF I COULD DO ANY OF THAT, I WOULD NOT BE ASKING FOR HELP. I need a nandroid because that will fix my phone. The one I have is altered and the rest got wiped from my computer when I posted that I had logs. Those got wiped too. This person behind this is all up in my computers and phones and I can't keep them out. I've done everything. Wiped hard drives and started with a clean install on both, bought a new router and set up new passwords. and flashed my phones. It slows them down, but hey get right back in everything over the course of a week. I'm so f**king sick of this. The funny part, I bet more that half of you have the same problems, but you aren't intimate with your devices enough to know that someone is there. This person behind this is highly skilled.... to say the least. This **** was on my phone for at least 3 months, maybe four, before I even realized something was wrong. That is how smooth this is. The phone works flawlessly still. (until I removed two partitions anyways. Now it won't boot.) Share your stock nandroid after wiping it with a factory reset. I don't need any of your personal information.... Just your legit partitions layout. What is so funny about that? I have seen this request a few times in the last four years. I never thought it would happen to me though.
You wanna know a little secret? The app power saving feature has been hacked to allow apps to retain some of the battery power when the device is turned off. Here is the deal. It is not really turned off. It is in a hibernate mode that retains the app-data so that when you turn the phone back on, everything comes back. You think this is not possible? Lol you better study more, and start opening scripts on your device and reading them. You'll find all sorts of neat things if you have been flashing and modding.

The truth is, it doesn't matter. You can still revert all the way back to OI6 from PC3. I tried AOK but it wouldn't flash. Send me anything bro. I'd be grateful.
I'll see what I can do when I get home at work now what version is your phone currently running??

You are absolutely correct. I used to always make nandroids, but I got cocky and lazy and quit doing it. Now I regret totally regret that. I will never in my life root another phone without making a nandroid and keeping it safe in two spots. One in the cloud, and the other on a OTG all by itself. I need you bro. Please send me a good nandroid so I can end this nightmare. Lol

Yeah, that is fine. Rooted is great as long as you didn't mod it before that nandroid. If so, the partition layout will be intact and when I flash it, it will wipe my device completely and I'll be good again. I have seen a few others with this problem over the years, and the only way they fixed it was by using someone's nandroid. I'm am a big fan of the Evo 4G! That is what started it all for me! Lol I made some pretty awesome JB roms for the Evo. You can see them here. http://android.aokforums.com/roms-vf3.html When I get this cleared up, I'm going to make something nice for the Note 5. It's been awhile since I've compiled any roms, but I am suddenly eager to start up again. Thank you for stepping up here bro. I won't forget this.
I can send you a backup of my current setup now but it's the deodexed marshmallow rom with sky-high kernel version 3.0

How do I unroot and go back to stock firmware without loosing data?
Thanks,
you don't. All you can do is use Helium https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.backup&hl=en . That is one way of moving data back from unrooting the phone.

You answered your own question . Flash with Odin, got CSC make sure use regular CSC not CSC home which will erase user data.

This where I got it from. The user muniz_ri posted it maybe 2 or 3 posts down
Isnt there a feature within SuperUser that allows to unroot and return to normal status? I used this feature after rooting and uninstalling several programs / apps and then selecting this option, restarting with no root.

It would unroot but I think you would still have the engineering boot and would give the lag issues. The phone would be difficult to use.
By flashing back to stock it would be not rooted and smooth
I been rooted and running this phone a couple week with no problems.
So I flashed without using either CSC file. Just left it blank and it running great just FYI

Running great meaning you didn't lose any data?
Also would Knox trip if we were to unroot with deleted stock apps? Or would the ODIN just put them back?

I restored without flashing any of the csc files and can confirm no data was loss. However I don't have the LTE icon anymore but 4G+...there's a few subtle differences I've noticed as well too that wasn't like that before so I'm not sure what happened. But it's working lag free and cool again.
Checking for software updates results in a cannot process error as well

Actually I just realized that samsung pay is still not on my phone after ODIN. and instead of calender it's now called S planner. All the ODIN did was remove root and put the tmobile bloat back
Interesting.

Sad news. Kinda had my hopes up as this would delete all root files. Guess not. All i want is to have a bloat free phone without any traces of root.
