My minix runs windows 10 build 10240 today.
See attachment.
I had installed the insider preview and today it updated itself to the final windows 10 pro release build 10240 and it is activated.
It was the android version of minix Z64 originally so I didn't have windows 8.1 key.

That is good news!
I would like to know 2 things
1) I also have an Android version of this box, so what was your experience using both? Which one you liked more? I would use it for many things like movies, gaming, office, etc
2) How did you install Windows 8 in the first place without a license? Could you provide a tutorial?
Thanks!!:good::good:
1) For office, browsing, movies is just OK I play the movies in 720p. Gaming haven't tried. I know it doesn't have the power for that. Also updating takes a little bit longer than usual.
2) Never installed windows 8.1. I just changed the bios from 64bits to 32bits, installed the x32 version of the insider preview of windows 10 and the set of drivers from this page w ww.minixforum.com/threads/windows-8-1-device-drivers.4738/
3) I also kept a full backup of the android environment just in case I want to go back.
4) Unfortunately the keys of the insider preview program have stopped working. So there no path to repeat the process. I guess I was lucky to install the insider preview when the keys were working and finally have a minix z64 with windows 10 pro edition.

Alright, after many hours of looking for my leopard install disks, I found found the one which contained bootcamp for windows. Installed Boot Camp via setting comptability to Vista SP2. Updated Boot Camp to 3.1 then 3.2 from apple's website.
Now, I have -no- idea why, but I can't get Audio to work. I'm not sure what hardware I have. Dunno if it's the RelTek hardware, or another company. I've tried both drivers, but the stock Windows Digital HD Audio drivers keep installing, and there are about 5 instances of these. I have tired to remove them, and then install the RelTek drivers, and do a search for HW change, but windows -still- installs the default audio drivers. Same thing with the other audio drivers supplied.
Has anyone gotten Audio to work on Windows 7 x64 on a early 2011/late 2010 MacBook Pro 17?
I recently switched to an Optimus 2x and installed Paranoid Android CM9 with the supplied stock kernel. No great problems except MTP does not work on either of my Win7 laptops which have Professional N version installed. This is the version without Windows Media Player.
I tried the phone on two PC's with Media Player installed and MTP worked perfectly. Also tried on Linux Mint 13 which didn't even see the phone! A first for any Linux dist in my experience. I did try installing the Microsoft hotfix which more or less installs Media Player on N versions but ran into installer problems on both laptops. Media Player is hard coded into Windows supposedly which means installing the full version of Media Player on the N version is impossible.
I then installed Harsh kernel which allows me to use the more normal (in my opinion) mass storage mode and can at last connect to and drag and drop files to my phone.
So my question:
What is the point of MTP if it requires Windows Media Player?
Am I the only one coming up against this problem?
Why does MTP not work with Linux Mint?
Has anybody a solution for those of us who don't have Media Player installed by default?
I'm here because I keep on getting this page in the top of my results... it deserves an answer.

What is the point of MTP if it requires Windows Media Player? My best guess is it's part of Windows Media Player because (1) Microsoft designed it, or heavily influenced it, and (2) they didn't see a purpose for having it on their computers unless people were going to use it to transfer music via Windows Media Player.
Am I the only one coming up against this problem? 1.11 You are (not) Alone
Why does MTP not work with Linux Mint? It looks like doing this is possible, but not by default. See here for more details:

Has anybody a solution for those of us who don't have Media Player installed by default? Get Windows Media Player. For me this involved getting a giant download from Microsoft, and then restoring Windows to a previous point, before the download would even install. Your mileage may vary.
It's here, for free (for "Verified" versions of Windows of course):

Hello guys,
Today I want to share with you my personal review of the NEO Z64 the first Windows mini-pc produced by Minix.
Two different version with the same hardware are available… the NEO Z64A comes with android preinstalled and is cheaper… the other one called NEOZ64W comes with Windows 8.1 as default OS and it is more expensive.
Because the hardware is the same... you can also install your personal copy of Windows 8.1 in the cheaper Android version.
But Minix doesn’t sponsor this practice because it is a little bit difficult for the average user (you must change the bios).
I was able to reproduce video in the h.265 format (only at 720p) and also a 4k video file (Elysium trailer).
All the video are/will be in Italian language, I’m sorry for this but they are for my Italian site called PcExpert:
Minix NEO Z64 - Unboxing: Both version (Windows and Android)
Minix NEO Z64 Windows version - First Boot and Fast Overview
Minix NEO Z64 Windows version - Full Review and video test
hi!
do you think you could install office and actually work with a text doc or a spreadsheet?
thanks for the review
Get windows 7, 8, 10 or any version of Windows on your Android phone using teamviewer. Teamviewer is a software that helps to remotely control your PC by using an Android phone. So on this way you can get any version of Windows on your Android phone and also you can remotely control your PC.
You can also watch my YT video about it!
