Looking to flash a custom ROM for a minimalist effect on my Galaxy TAb 3 - Android General

My only Android experience is with a phone that already reloaded with CyanogenMod other than a G3 for work. The difference between them is very noticeable in terms a bloatware.
I picked up a Tab 3 for one main purpose and that is to use as a universal remote for my HTPC and to run Kodi/XBMC. So needless to say the rest of what the tablet has to offer is useless. What is the best minimalist ROM to flash? I found 6 here and am leaning towards Hassan.
Any help would be appreciated.

Android tablets and support/customization?

At first I was in love with the iPad but now I've began thinking to go a much different route for a tablet..
after searching for android tablets I ran across two that caught my eye, one on ebay the sungworld 7in tablet and the Haleron iLet mini...
both feature similar hardware specs (same screen size, resolution, CPU speed, memory, price, etc). the main difference from what I can tell (aside from aesthetics) is the sungworld model looks like its running standard android 1.6 with gapps, whereas the ilet is running android with some UI.
does anyone have any input on how customizable these devices are? any chance of custom roms or app2sd or at least gapps on the iLet..would porting a version of 2.1 be considered impossible or at least not probable?
I love the idea of a cheap android tablet and would appreciate any input on this!
thanks in advance..

Have you looked at the enTourage eDGe?
I just saw your post on the other tablet thread..I'm not really a fan of the design, its very strange. Plus i already have a netbook, so I'm in the market for a tablet now..
Check out enso-now.com for the zenPad..its a pretty cool 5'' android tablet starting at $155!

[Q] Various questions regarding SGT2 7"

I have a Samsung GT 2 7" (p3110) and i am a bit disappointed with the way things are working. I have rooted the tablet and i have managed do optimize it a bit but it still burns through the battery like crazy.
In any case... here are my questions:
1. I know there are no "best" roms and it is all up to the user, however, what would you recommend for a user that watches movies, plays some games and surfs the internet?
2. Changing the version of the Android OS will optimize performance?
3. Are there any stock Roms that have only the basics installed (no crapware) and will allow me to install whatever i need without having to worry about performance?
Thanks and i am looking forward for your response.
1. izerHD has good quality for audio etc, btw currently only for p3100
2. yes
3. indeed izerHD has sony apps crapware, so you might like slimkat, the slimest rom for now.

Looking for a root & ROM friendly phone to replace S4

Hi there everyone!
My daughter and wife run an S4 on Verizon with the following specs:
Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon SCH-1545
Android Ver. 5.0.1
Baseband: 1545VRUGOF1
Kernel: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1
Root via: Kingoroot. Verified to have root through Root Check (app store)
My intention was to run Cyanogenmod 11 on them but my parade was rained on when I was told on another forum that this was an impossibility and terribad things would happen if I tried, including but not isolated to the burning of my cat due to the bootloader being locked during a later firmware and OS update.
So I have begun considering looking for a used phone on eBay to replace them that I can root/install Cyanogenmod on. There's a few requirements that I'd like to satisfy, if possible:
1) Capability: I'd like the specs to be at least on par with the S4, including CPU, memory and physical size
2) micro SIM: I don't have an official VZW store within two hours of me and the shipping and over-the-phone SIM activation has proven to be a bit of a pain.
3) accessories available: They need Otterbox cases and super-screenguards.
4) No [email protected]#*t rooting and ROM installable: I don't want to have to do a raindance during a certain moonphase while drinking the blood of a virgin dolphin to get it to happen. I need a phone that is leans more to the side of the spectrum that it's not much of a hassle to put a custom ROM on it. I embrace my noobness.
5) Cheap on the used market would be awesome!
Just spitballing and seeing what the peeps in the know would suggest. I appreciate any and all suggestions and insight!
Thanks for your time!

[Completed] Looking for a custom ROM for this nurvo

Hi all
Thanks firstly I've found this site excellent for rooting and flashing my samsung tab2/nexus7 etc 5*
But now I'm stuck and I have a challenge
I have a 10 inch nurvo tablet that is rooted (SuperSU etc)
But I cannot find a custom ROM that will make this thing any good!
Specs::
Model number:nurvo10dcb
Android version:4.2.2
Firmware:2.1_20140213
Kernal:3.4.39+
Build:a20_k1001_k1001L1c_1402051.20140305
I'm trying to get some use from this tab other than a slow inaccurate TV remote(YouTube via Chromecast etc)
Its so bad!(touch drivers are very slow
I really want something more refined like slimkat or just something that works rather than whatever this was designed for (picture frame maybe
Huge thanks and sorry if I've put this in the wrong place.
It would be nice to have the same flexibility my Samsung tab2 with 6.1 and nexus with slimkat

Hello and welcome to xda-assist,
as this is an unpopular device, especially compared with the Samsung tab2, you won't nowhere get equal or only nearly the support of a popular device, that's the hard truth..
If you can't find anything on simple Google search or on the forums
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help
there's non and you're bound to xposed & root, just like many other people, long not all devices are supported by development, only a few selected and that's why it is so important to research the device before you buy when you're in to flash & stuff..
Good luck
Hi
I thought it was pushing it with this nurvo and if I had the time to check it out before I bought it I'd have avoided it
I did see some info about someone and custom ROMs but cannot find it.
Its rooted fine (kingo)but without a decent ROM its just junk as its just too slow
Its fine for kids to play with and slowly using as a remote but that's it
Thanks mate
I will keep my ears open just in case but I won't hold my breath: (

Can someone give a review of Lineage 7x on the SM-P900

I like my Note Pro. I use the pen and have quite a few pen apps.
Can someone who uses the tablet give a quick review og how it works, what's great and what's not so great?
I'll then be better prepared to decide if I want to flash the ROM
I'm particularly interested in how the SPEN works and if it's any different to the stock rom. I know I'll be missing the Samsung apps. Just want to see if the pen works the same way in 3rd party apps.
How fast/Slow is the ROM?
Thanks
I JUST flashed my tablet yesterday with OS 14.1 on my P900. It really runs great. Still haven't most things but I made a nandroid backup of my stock rom in TWRP and I can flash back any time I want.
It's fast and so far stable.
Maybe I just got really used to stock-based ROMs, but I'm not a fan of how Lineage runs on the P900. I mean..It's stable...Everything I need works. I use Lineage on other devices, and pretty much all of my old devices have CM on them. I just can't explain why I don't like it on this.
(I am currently using it on this...Probably going on two months)
I've been using it for 1 month and it works quite well. All the features are great and the system runs really fast. The problem is that some of the old features (floating windows, specific software for s-pen and quick access) are not available in Lineage OS 14 for sm-p900... so I ended up missing some of them. I will try the Touchwiz adapted to sm-p900 (based on android 6.0 marshmallow) which is still an upgrade for what I had at the beginning... I'll tell you about this when I try it.
PD: I've been using CM-Spen Add-on as a substitute for SPen software, but it doesen't feel the same.

That review would be really good thank you.
I have a few questions if anyone knows....
I assume the Nougat Split screen works OK - I don't really use floating windows much
And palm rejection when using the stylus? Is that a hardware feature and still working OK?
Is the stylus lag more or less noticeable?
I'm using MS OneNote for it's syncing features, and it's really quite good these days. Does this work do you know?
Does the stylus need to be calibrated? Or does it match what you touch on the screen 100%
Is there a continuous dot on screen, when the stylus is very close to the screen or touching?
Is the battery drain better or worse than touchwiz?
Thank you
