Working Root for At&t Galaxy Tab 3 ( SM-T217A ) 4.4.2 Kitkat O.S !!!! - Galaxy Tab 3 General

FINALLY SUCCESS !! This is how I did it. Download ->..*Kingroot 4.5 apk*.. After you install is press the circle button it will then root your Tab.. But then we need to get rid of Kingroot and all of it dependencies. What you want to do is download busybox install, open and grant root access to busybox through King root, make sure to hit the install button at the bottom of the busybox app . After that go to play store download *Supersume*..... Yes Supersume! After you install Supersume open it it and click on the button and it will install Supersu with the binaries updated and uninstall all of King root dependencies for you. Okay now we have supersu installed, now for the tricky part. You do not want to reboot your phone or you will lose supersu and have to start from the beginning. I repeat do not reboot your device yet... Go to play store download and install Flashfire apk by Chainfire and then go to XDA Supersu tread by Chainfire and download the latest flashable Supersu.zip.. Okay now that we have those two things, go back and open up Flashfire app and look for where it says OTA firmware / zips click that button and look for your Supersu.zip that you downloaded from XDA click on it an hit the check mark at the top.. Now look for where it says *Ever root* click on that make sure to hit the check mark at the top. FIND reboot and make sure that normal is checked click on the check mark at the top and that will take to back out to where there's a circle and lightning bolt Press that... Flashfire is now flashing the new Supersu. Zip for you and also inject root into your system via Ever root.... Once it reboots you will have the latest supersu and be able to reboot without losing root. This does not trip Knox.. Have fun and hit the thanks button if it helped. But please give thanks to those who made the apps King root, Supersume, Busybox, Supersu and Flashfire.. Because without those Developer's this would not be possible..

I can verify this roots the t217a. I had to unmount my sdcard and do the flashfire option to get su to stick but it did and does work. Hopefully we can get a recovery and toms now. This is a nice little tablet for free since I use it tethered through tmo and got it as payment for moving files from one laptop to another with a usb stick lol

If you havnt checked yet KNOX is still intacted.. So it doesn't trip KNOX. Which means warranty is still available if your still covered.. Also, I'm going to message Chainfire to find out if it is possible to create a Odin flashable Backup using some of the file's I have from my Flashfire Backup.. If it is possible we will have a way to recover from a boot loop or a softbick for that matter.. If so I will Experiment with flashing T-Mobile or the International TouchWiz Custom Roms using Flashfire.. I have two AT&T note 3's and I have had success installing T Mobile and international roms on both devices, if I'm not mistaken even a few Sprint custom TouchWiz Roms work on those phone's.. We have everything needed to have a Custom TouchWiz Rom except a restorable Backup.... Keep your eyes on development for this tab cause if I manage to get one to Load an that Runs well I will ask permission to post their Rom with a how to for At&t Tab 3...

Thanks for the hard work, if I can help please let me know.
Hey is there anyway to get 442 to directly save to the external sd card with the os as is?

I think I tripped Knox. My tablet boots up with the Samsung logo and "CUSTOM" underneath it and I can't find anything Knox related in settings now

No you didn't trip Knox... Mine also had the Custom pad lock when booting up.. If you would like to get rid of it just download and install xposed framework. After you install it open the xposed app and look for downloads, there you will find an app called Wanam Xposed. Open that app and look for security hacks, click on that and you will see where it says firmware status official or custom make sure its check marked. That will make your firmware official and get rid of the padlock after two reboots. If you would like to check your Knox you can download Samsung Phone Info apk I use the plus version but the free one should have you're Knox info also. Hope that helps.

Ok cool. Is there a recovery yet?

Does this add twrp or is just for rooting?

As far as I know, the bootloader is locked so there won't be any custom recovery unless that is unlocked.

Rooting P905 noobie?

Hi
OK I'm fed up of not having the ability to delete or create files on my SD card.
I have an European 905 model and I want to root it. I'm new to rooting so this is all foreign to me, however, is there a good guide to root a P905?
Plus if I ever want to unroot, how do I go about it?.
Thank you

Google Towelroot, it's easy to use. Just install to your tablet like any other app and press "make it rain".
This works only if you haven't updated your device to version which got this vulnerability patched.
This also shouldn't burn your Knox warranty. At least it didn't for me on my P905 and Note 3.
Thanks, how do you uninstall this towelroot if I sell my tablet in the future and how do I patch my tablet so I can delete the files from my SD card please?.

After rooting, install SuperSU, I think you can un-root your device with that and do factory reset. But I think best way is to download your firmware from Sammobile or so and flash with Odin if you want your device back to stock. This makes your device be like it's never powered on before - since it's completely stock, all root modifications and so are gone.
About deleting files, you should be able to do that just from stock file manager app?

Thank you Spere, the reason why I want to root is that I use my tablet as a comic reader and comicat can't delete the files, or Diceplayer for video. As for superuser, what do I need so I can allow apps to delete files as normal.
Can I ask please which firmware do you choose from Sammobile, I bought mine from the UK but its originally from Spain. So can I choose a UK firmware?, plus how do I flash with Odin.

Open dialer and type *#1234# and you should see AP, CP and CSC. This is firmware you are curently running and this you should download. In case something goes wrong or you want your device back to stock, flash it. There are tons of guides how to flash with odin.
When you are rooted, there are several apps to fix that extSdCard writing problem HERE is one, an HERE a lot more.
If you haven't ever rooted a phone, or flashed a ROM, you should really read a lot before doing anything, just in case. So you know what you do and why you do, and still if something fails, you know how to recover your device.

Yes.
1. Download - install - run Towelroot (Reboot your device after that if it does not do that automatcally)
2. Install SuperSU (This is superuser management tool - no app can use root acces if you don't grant it through SuperSU, so no app can do bad things to your device without you knowing. When SuperSU asks for updating binary, choose default method (if this hangs for like 5mis and nothing happens, just reboot device and take a second try) and if it asks about disabling KNOX, select yes. Then reboot device.)
3. Install extSdCard fix and run it (grant permission when SuperSU asks it)
4. Reboot - DONE!
Remember that by rooting you void your device warranty and you do it by your own risk. You also can brick your device if you are messing with system files or root apps.

Well, Knox warranty is kinda different thing, but Samsung have been using it deny warranty repairs - in some countries, some not.
Towelroot shouldn't void your Knox warranty, since you have P905 which uses snapdragon processor, but no one can promise it to you. I've used it two times with no problems, and many other have also used it, but there's always a risk. Read more about towelroot from its own thread (Google towelroot xda).

[Q] Is it worth rooting 907A AT&T version?

So I just got the Note Pro like a week or two ago, I generally always root my devices, but I've seen lots of reports of random reboots. Does removing all of the Knox apps fix that?
So, do you guys think it's worth rooting? I've never had a Samsung device, so I know I'm going to have to read up on Odin and Kies a bit, but are there any easy step-by-step tutorials posted around anywhere?

It was definitely worth it for me just to have X posed installed and be able to use the GravityBox module along with some Note specific mods. Especially useful is the mod to allow any apps to be multi-window pop up apps.
l had to downgrade to an earlier build because Samsung patched the Towelroot exploit earlier this year. That required using Odin which isn't difficult at all to use. Once I downgraded the Towel root app worked perfectly and I was able to install Supersd from Chainfire. There is a debloat script you can run in Terminal Emulator and it will disable all the Knox stuff but also gives you individual options to de bloat other apps in the stock AT&T TW Rom. I've been running for a couple of weeks with no problems whatsoever.
Here's the link to the Odin files l used to downgrade. The Odin application to use is in post # 2

Thanks for the info and links... I may break down and just do it, although I've been debating waiting for the Lollipop update.
I can always flash back to stock later, right?
The links he posted are stock, just an earlier build that towelroot works with. You should be able to go into settings and run "check for updates" when lollipop is released from AT&T.
You guys are awesome, thanks for the info. Just rooted, debloating now. Any suggestions on the best Xposed modules to use? Anything else I should install?
Awesome! I'll be giving this a go once I get home. I just picked up my note pro last weekend. Only complaint is not being able to multiwindow every app so this is perfect!
Did you guys install TWRP? If so, did you use Odin?

You're rooted but the bootloader is still locked and there is no way to unlock it at this time. Therefore no TWRP or custom ROMs.

GravityBox gives you the most customization options. You can get Multi Window Manager from the Play store and it works with Xposed to give you multi window for any app. Those are the two I'm using so far bit have had mine for only a few weeks.
The end of the first post has a few good xposed modules to try, http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...t/rom-original-stock-debloated-stock-t2860069 And I've attached an image of the ones I like.
Hangouts?
After downgrade....does hangouts work for video calling?

Hello, my first time posting of the forums.. I followed all these steps except the last step before I found this thread, and allowed the forced Ota update to screw up my root... now I can't access custom recovery mode to reinstall the old firmware. Tablet works fine, but no root and no chromecast... Not sure if you can use odin in stock recovery mode.. Is there a way to install firmware you gave the link by SD card so I can reroot? Thanks in advance!
No Odin is the only way. You can access recovery by turning the tablet on while holding down vol down and the home button.

I'm such an idiot.. I figured that out right after I made this post.. Everything is good to go.. The only issue I'm having now is that even after debloating I'm still getting the ota update ... Not sure if I need to disable all bloatware.. I kept some of the apps like YouTube enabled but disabled the ATT ones and a few others from what I can remember .. Any suggestions on how to stop the ota update ?

Quick question about this procedure: if I use oden to downgrade my tablet from NK2 to ND7, will my device status change from original to custom?
The purpose for this is to network unlock my tablet. I sent in my tablet for warranty repair due to the blue screen of death. They replaced the main board and reflashed the os with NK2. I've had my tablet back for 2 weeks but it came back network locked. It had been previously unlocked by a seller prior to purchase/arrival in January. I was using my T-Mobile tablet sim with the tablet which worked great.
I've tried sim network unlock codes from various sources, the code is always the same regardless of the source, with no success. I'm working with 2 theories as to what occurred at the repair center: they didn't reinstall the LTE modem properly or the flash messed up ability to successfully network unlock. If I can get the tablet to network unlock then I'll continue with the root because having the capability to use multiwindow for all apps with xposed is great.

Root ATT S4 On 5.0.1

Hey guys! im Cole. Im new around here .
Anyways I managed to fix my phone from a soft brick using the 5.0 OTA Update and decided to root the phone.
Also This Didn't trip Knox for me. Im on 5.0.1
NOTE: I am not responsible if you happen to brick/Break your ATT GALAXY S4 (I337)I DO NOT KNOW IF THIS WORKS ON THE I337M
Anyways on with the rooting tutorial:
Ok, On your S4 I recommend that you have the OTA Package which you can get from Here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95916177934552137
And You should have at least 50% battery life left.
Ok. Go and download Kingroot V4.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
Install it. It should say that root access is unavailable. Click on Try to root.
It takes around 3 to 5 minutes to get root access. once done you should see at the top Root Successful or something like that.
If it fails I suggest that you either try again or just give up on rooting your phone.
But since ATT Has a LOCKED Bootloader we cant install a recovery i think. Anyways I hope you guys found this tutorial working and have fun rooting.
Oh yeah I forgot: Thank You Kingxteam for providing us with kingroot

I'm using my phone so I just looked up photo uploader.
I can't upload images yet since I'm new but this does work as long as it's the newer kingroot I had to reflash the 5.0update last night because I installed a recovery and as all ways it fails due the locked bootloader so I tried to root again and it works fine.

If you don't like the kingroot su binary, check out super sume in the play store. It replaces kinguser with supersu. Costs $1. Well worth it imo.

Cool story.
But, this is so simple. Instead of having to flash this and that with flashfire and safestrap, you can just go straight from lollipop, use a one click root tool, and then use another one click app to switch to SuperSU and remove the other. It's simplicity, compared to keep root method, is great. Now, if we could just get someone to figure out how to do it with one step, we'll be golden. Many are thinking there is still no way to root straight from lollipop. This works. So, if these cats can do it, then another dev can figure out how to get SuperSU injected instead of Kingroot. If that can happen, then safestrap can also be updated to work with lollipop instead of having to swap kk kernel. This is progress.
edit: When I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I tried several times to update to 0C4 after using this method. It failed every time. Then, I flashed the rooted 0C3 with flashfire and the update worked flawlessly. I wouldn't suggest this kingroot anymore to anyone. Cheers.

Just used KingRoot to root my I337 with OC4. Took a few minutes and then took off with a percentage rapidly climbing to 100%. Unfortunately for those of us who cannot read Chinese you have to feel your way through the user interface.
Here are some notes to help (I should have grabbed screen shots and will try to do so):
Make sure your PC has the I337 drivers and they work.
Enable developer mode on the I337.
Download and install the desktop version of KingRoot.
Connect the I337 to the PC with USB. Let Windows do its handshake stuff.
Launch KingRoot, it will find the phone and give you a screen (all in Chinese) showing how to turn on USB Debug mode. For English that is in Settings | More | Developer Options. Check the USB debugging box.
Phone will ask to verify the computer RSA key, accept it.
Phone also asked twice to allow Google to check for security threats. I declined both.
KingRoot will see that it can talk with the phone and do its thing.
A few minutes later I had KingRoot and root access on my 5.0.1 OC4 phone as verified with Root Checker Basic. It has survived a power cycle with battery removal.
Added screen shots from phone. Need to get some from KingRoot.
When KingRoot has everything ready you will see some Chinese text followed by Root on a blue (IIRC) button. Click that to launch the rooting.

Alcatel Onetouch Flint Root

Hey, guys. I found a way to root Alcatel Onetouch Flint by Cricket Wireless. First, you have to enable USB Debugging and Unknown Sources. Then, download the kingroot app from kingroot.net After rooting is complete, reboot your phone. When it boots back up, download SuperSU from google play. It will ask to update binary click normal. It will ask you to remove other superuser apps (kingroot and purify) click ok andit will do it for you. If it says binary update failed just click reboot and superSU works fine ater reboot.
If you want to install Xposed, check out my other thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/xposed-alcatel-onetouch-flint-t3440789/page1

No custom recovery yet cuz we can't unlock the bootloader yet
So I found an option to "allow OEM bootloader unlock" in developer options but still no way to actually unlock it yet
I know I'm late to the party, but wanted to say good work and I got one myself after they lowered the price at Target to $50. Purchased an unlock code for $6 and will be using the root method you lined out after I get and use my sim unlock code. Thanks again!!!
Can someone plz try this method to flash twrp and see if it works

It worked for me! Guys just follow his guide and u should be good. Thanks @jsowen321
Getting SuperSu to replace Kingroot was super annoying and frustrating.
SuperSu Me just hangs cause KingUser doesn't like to be replaced and it makes sure you know that by installing itself as a system app.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/replace-kingroot-supersu-t3339950
That did for me effortlessly and SuperSu updated the binary after soooo many failed attempts.
"sh switch_armv7.sh"
You'll understand after you read the last step.
SuperSu Me should be ran after switching to remove KingRoot files from phone.
Root, Xposed and TWRP is easily achieved as long as you know how to follow directions.
Thank you @Casey Campanile & @jsowen321

I rooted my device using KingRoot , but I never could get SuperSU to install binary codes. I had read how to replace it so I download the zip file and the only thing it didwas send me error that KingRoot has stopped working. No root access. Question is do can I just start over using the instructions u gave. As u can probable tell this is my first time rooting a phone..

Yea just restart ur phone. If KingRoot is still installed, remove it, and then reinstall KingRoot again. If it's already removed just reinstall it. After rooting with KingRoot, download SuperSU from Google play and update binary using the "normal" method. Then it will ask to remove other superuser apps click OK or yes so it will remove KingRoot for u
Thank you for taking the time to deal with my issues. I did as u instructed, uninstalled and reinstalled then installed SuperSU. Unfortunately it says install failed,. Now what I'm afraid of messing things up thank u

Seems like this thread is alive, and the phone is still available in retail stores in the US.
You can root this phone without having to go through the kingroot app. See this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/alcatel-users-t3488125
Hope this helps anyone who recently purchased this phone!
So what can I do with this now that I've rooted it? Is there some new rom I can install to run the latest Android? This is my first Alcatel...I've been a Samsung Galaxy S person for a bit. Looking for some fun with the Alcaltel.
Is there a way to bypass cricket hotspot lock. My phone is rooted and I installed Xposed but I can't find a way to bypass wifi tethering lock.
Follow this Guide!!
https://forum.xda-developers.com/general/help/supersu-alcatel-5040n-5040w-one-touch-t3390075
It is for 5040N/5040W but Works on our 5054O!! You will have SuperSU!!

Got it working on the note 7 port Rom
I'm on a Note 5 and going to give this a try using my version of TWRP. Will edit this post and report findings!
Able to boot after flashing the first .zip. Always got boot loop previous after flashing TWRP but not flashing root! Thanks for the solution!
Basically the minimum I want is the ability to remove my boot sound and update my hosts file. This lets me do that but otherwise be stock. Good enough. Wish I had xposed, root, but still Android Pay and PGO without reboots but that's ok.

Can anybody confirm that this is true for me? I haven't seen anyone else mention this.
Hello, I would like your help.
First of all, sorry for my poor English.
I installed the Root Switch to use Pokemon Go, but my phone crashed and rebooted while I played. After that, I was not able to activate root again, including the SuperSU app says my cell does not have Root.
Does anyone know how I should proceed? Would redoing root solve my case?
Thank you.

Yes that's correct
It looks like the Root Switch has stopped working, at least here on my S4 I9505 with Android 5.0.1.
Anyone else going through this?
Root Switch never work on my G900T S5 with Lollipop 5.1.1
There was a safetynet update last week that breaks RootSwitch. Had to go the Magisk route but now can use Android Pay along with PoGo
