This is a very noobie question but I can't find an answer (I'm probably searching for the wrong phrases). When an app is moved out of the limited internal 2GB memory space via the "move to USB storage" option, where does is actually go?
I assumed it moves to the /Android/data/ folder on the external memory but I can't locate the moved app data on my Oppo Find 5, at least not using ES File Explorer.
Cheers,
M.
OK, sorry, I've just worked it out. Data seems get placed in /mnt/asec

I have about 350MB free on my rooted Inspire and would love to move some more apps to the SD card, where I have about 4GB free. Only problem is that when I try to do this (using multiple apps and utilities), it says there is no room. When I look at the SD card, I don't see where any of the apps are that I've already moved there. Are they perhaps in a hidden partition that is out of space? If so, is there some way to use some partitioning software to increase its size by about 500MB or so?
App2SD has a step in it's faq 2 solve the problem about not being able 2 move apps. Open up the app2sd, select menu then settings then select about and finally select faq. I think it was the 3rd one down. It entails deleting a single file in the Android secure folder through windows or MAC. Hope that helps.

I'd searched on this issue before posting and I've already looked for that smdl2tmp1 file in both sdcard/.android_secure and /mnt/secure/asec and it doesn't exist in either location. Makes me think that is a different problem. It isn't that I can't install apps or can't upgrade apps. It's just that I can't move any more apps to my SD card. App2SD tells me "there is not enough storage left". That is why I was curious if it was a partition thing.

Exactely. This is what happen to me. But, then, no one has solved this before?
Hey guys!
So after formatting the phone in order to use the Oxygen mod, the internal memory is not accessible...
You cannot save files in phone's memory and "USB Mass Storage" doesn't show up... Not 100% of the files were deleted, some of them are still available by browsing from ES Explorer. Oh yeah, when you try to move a file from SD Card the "Phone" show up as directory, although you cannot create or move files to it!
Maybe you can help...?
Thanks in advance!

First I have to say thank you to all the developers for making many great ROM. Second, I am not good with android .
I just upgrade to hellfire sandwich and seem like whenever i choose using"internal storage" the phone will auto gray out the external SD card (8gb). When i uncheck that option, i can use the external SD card again. But I want to use the left over internal storage 5gb too... not just 1.5gb internal storage.
Is there someway to re-partition the internal storage together? or allow the phone to recognize all the partitions?
Another question is I cannot use USB mass storage anymore, that option is grayed out too, And the only option is MTP which work really slow but a bit better than PTP. I need some help because Android commander cant recognize the device and the transfer sped is pretty slow.
You should be able to access the internal storage by navigating in the file explorer of your choice to the mnt/emmc/ directory. As for the mass storagw, I don't know the answer, but I had that problem too while I was on ICS.
The best option I have found is to use cwm to add and remove things through storage. It works all the time. Since on 2.3.3 mounts where sketchy and I've never been a fan of mtp on ics this is what I've always done.
Your transfer rates are due to your SD card class. The higher the class the higher the read/write speeds.
Ics went to using mtp and ptp instead of USB mass storage. Except there's a few roms that have hacked ums in and got it to work or claim too.

Yes i can do that too, so there is no way to allow the phone using both... I want to let the phone install apps to internal, and use external as media storage.

Thank you, because i saw the option there so i just wonder if there is a way to enable it... but if it not supposed to be there then there is no help.
If you go to ../etc/ using a file explorer, you may edit vold.fstab using a text editor and change manually your SD cards mount points (dev_mount emmc "folder location" for internal SD and dev_mount sdcard "folder location" for external SD)

Ok, well in your SD Card you shoud see either _Internal SD or _External SD when you go into CWM, installing a rom partitions you SD card normally using EXT4. You can navigate to both through mnt in file manager. Normally it'll load into external. You can go back to mnt and go into internal through there. Now, you may have to unmount and remount so you have access to it. If your using hellfire 1.7 you need the updated harsh kernel to access USB storage. In 1.6, however, you shouldn't have that problem.
Hello Android XDA-ers!
I'm a newbie on the Custom ROM scene, but I just installed my first custom ROM on my E-bayed Verizon Droid Incredible. I flashed it once. It was awesome. After 2 months, my system got slow and it said my phone was "running low on storage," so I saw a reply on the forum where I got the ROM (credit:Albinoman) saying I should re-flash. I did, but I'm a bit confused.
The first time I unzipped the ROM from /sdcard0. The second time I unzipped the ROM from /storage/sdcard1.
1. Does that matter? Should I have re-flashed from the same source?
Source, "/sdcard1" claims to be 6.5G of unused memory. The only way I can access it is with my ES File Explorer (or other apps like it). I was dubious and double-checked my "Storage" setting by installing "Storage Analyser" and even that acknowledged /storage/sdcard1 as viable 6.5G of storage.
2. If my "Settings>Storage" and "Storage Analyser" app are both accurage, how can I utilize this storage?
I have an SD Card present. It is a 2G card. Nothing seems to be accessing /sdcard1 and it's a rather large bit of space. I know that I can add things to that storage space because when I plug in via USB, I can add items to it and I can retrieve them. However, the only way to view it is to use Root Explorer. I would like my apps and music etc to save there by default. It seems like they are being limited to a 758Mb space.
3. I check specs online and they say my DInc should have 8G internal storage. Why can't i utilize this? Did I do something wrong when flashing my phone? Help!
Why do the phone recognize my internal storage as sdcard0? This tends to lead to some problems when locating files in recovery.
Is there a way to make sure extraneous files, such as downloads, stay only on the sd card under sdcard?
Sometimes when placing a file on the sdcard from USB-to-PC connection, I navigated to the root folder using a file explorer, and tap sdcard, only to find it's not there. Instead of I have to home-->storage-->sdcard1.
Can anyone explain what exactly is going on in this case?? Or if anyone found a way to consolidate the folders, how can I do it??
Thank you.

The storage isn't extended, it's two separate file spaces. Your internal memory is reported as an internal SD card (sdcard0) and your SD Card is reported as an external SD (sdcard1)

If you download the Motorola USB Device Manager then in my computer your device will be recognised with internal and external storage available, all folders under these will be clearly visable and you shouldn't have any issues transferring data between the two.
Cheers
I have that manager and it works well, but I would like the folder "sdcard" in the home to link me to the sdcard1 and not sdcard0. Right now the "symlink" in root browser points there. Anyway to change that?
